Sith Space, Dromund Kaas, Kosqam, New Kaas City, Sith Citadel
It was a true wonder.

Words fell short describing the beauty that was the Grand Capital of the Sith Empire. It was a polished, glittering, continent sized city of wonder that covered nearly all of the Kosqam continent. It was birthed through the union of distinct blend of Imperial, Pureblood Sith, and Epicanthix architectural, and societal influences. Even in a place filled with so many diverse species they were all bound together under Sith Eternalism, the new doctrine that governed life here. They had achieved such a peaceful, shining bastion of order and superior intellect through the shared values of Jiyâschwayatoyatutkut the law to integrate tongues that brought all species under one language: Imperial Basic, Jiyâschwayatqâzoi the law to integrate thoughts that erased an individuals separate cultural identity and bound them all in unity underneath the doctrine of Sith Eternalism. This brought citizens together and unified them under one culture that brought obedience to the state and veneration to the Dark Side of the Force to the forefront of daily life. Lastly it was Dzimjirshâsotkut or service through collective struggle.
It was a distinctive push towards authoritarian collectivism and the belief that all citizens strong or weak, from the poorest family to the Dark Lord of the Sith had a responsibility to maintain the Empire. Countless billions called this city home all living, working, etching out a living together and yet it was absolutely astounding just how orderly it was. It was just another day in New Kass City and as early as it had been, many were just starting their days. The Delegation of the First Order were greeted in Vitiate Spaceport of the Kaas Spaceport Complex by emissaries from the imperial diet as well as a large detachment of the Order Police the highly organized, militarized, effective, uniformed police force of Imperial National Security. Due to the specific guests arriving and a personal escort of Imperial Crownguard exclusively assigned to protect the Supreme Leader. A large procession of order police vehicles, with the markings of the First Order on the primary diplomatic shuttle, more than enough to hold all of them were marked with the sigils of the First Order.
They were taken through the beating heart of the city and through the windows of the lavish shuttle they were able to see the pinnace of what the Sith Empire had achieved. It was a sea of uniforms all around as every citizen was well groomed and presented themselves with dignity and respect. It was common to see uniforms, as well as military and robed members of the Sith Order. Their destination was the colossal Sith Citadel, Headquarters of the Sith Order and Seat of the Sith Diarchy. It was from here that the Dark Lord of the Sith and Sith Empress ruled. A conference room had been prepared in advance with all the appropriate refreshments, as well as a well scrutinized seating chart to ensure all of the proper respect had been afforded to the arriving delegation, arrayed in order of importance in their society with emphasis being placed on the Supreme Leader.

Ariel Yvarro knew the Sith Empire would pull out the stops. She looked about New Kaas City in all its splendor and remembered how Bastion once stood so proudly. She remembered the home that her mother and step-mother created there and that now that home was gone. Feelings toward the New Imperial Order were mixed because then she remembered and considered the mishaps of the Dosuun Hegemony along with a myraid of token governments. Proxies influenced and paid for by the Sith Empire. Puppets. The Dosuun Hegemony had been one of those puppets, and their strings were quickly cut.
Then there was the fact that without the help of the Sith. Namely Kassandra, Taeli and Kaalia. The Supreme Leader would not be here, Natasi would not be here preparing for this meeting. Then she remembered the New Imperial's that had arrived at Avalonia, and recalled that whatever home she had on Bastion had been destroyed by them. She took in a deep breath and exhaled, she had been informed that Madelyn Lowe was now seated higher within the upper echelons of the Sith Empire.
Lowe. Bloody defector. No better than Ariel's own mother, a bloodless uncivil cut of a woman who's own loyalties were to themselves. More inner conflict, and all Ariel could think of as she looked out upon New Kaas City was how the Sith had all but given Bastion to the New Imperial Order. They had been just as gutless as Fiolette Raaf who defected from the First Order right when the empire needed her most. Ariel clenched her fist tightly, so tightly they began to turn a sickening white.
Ariel cleared her throat and looked at Natasi. Natasi could and would do the talking here, as much as Renata Westaway and the others. She was a member of the Moff Council, and could scarcely afford to have feelings here. Ariel had to detach and compartmentalize, a skill she recalled one Taeli Raaf being quite apt at. Natasi could as well, and so Ariel took another deep breath and exhaled. This meeting would be no different than any other, this was a simple hello.

skin, bone, and arrogance
Natasi sat across from Ariel, looking out the window of the shuttle as New Kaas City whipped past the windows. The Supreme Leader was quiet, her jaw set, looking every bit the Galidraani noblewoman: devoid of emotion. She had a handle on her emotion like a vice grip for two reasons: the first, that she was in the Sith Empire, and those gifted with the Force may have been able to pick up on it if she let it out; the second, that when she let herself get out of hand, the troublesome voice inside her head started to get ideas.

Best to occupy herself with something else.

She brushed a chestnut curl behind her ear and flexed her hand for a moment, then finally turned to Ariel Yvarro. "How did you arrange to transport the gift?" she asked quietly, adjusting the glove on her hand carefully. "It was a bejeweled map of the Pacanth Reach, if I'm not mistaken, and rather large and heavy. I suspect it's not in the shuttle's overhead compartment."

She pulled her other glove tight and turned back to the window. "How much longer, do you think?"

Malikai sat at one of the window seats while enroute to the Sith Citadel.

He possessed a few memories of New Kaas City. Orienting around an education, much of his formative years had centred in the Sith-Imperial Youth Centres while his Father conducted Sith, Imperial, or whatever business he had to do within the Empire. Outside of the lessons learned and the drills performed to recall them, he hardly remembered the planet. Brows furrowing together in thought as he made an attempt at picking out a building and determining what it was.

It continued for some time until his attention was drawn to the now Supreme Leader Natasi Fortan Natasi Fortan and Ariel Yvarro conversing. He blinked blankly as his attention was returned to the window and the world outside. The looming Sith Citadel drawing rapidly closer as he thought on why he was present.

Courtesy? Maybe. For the name he bore? That seemed to make more sense to the young Sith.

The Order's last Supreme Commander was a Sith Lord, openly so. Even when the First Order had cast out the then growing Sith Brotherhood, his father remained, allowed to continue his military duties. In the Tingel Arm, the Ascendancy formed and grew in power until casting aside its former name to truly name itself Empire. In the western reaches of the galaxy, in the Outer Rim and Wild Space -- Graush had remained. Why? It felt as if the word echoed in his mind. Why stay with the First Order?

It took a few minutes of his mind to entertain the hypotheticals of why his father did the things he did, until he settled on the answer that, It didn't matter. He was gone, maybe for good. Malikai remained. The Sith taught that that was the only thing that mattered.

When it came time for the First Order delegation to disembark from the shuttle, he did, following the order of importance and remained in the rear of the procession. Still, he remained proud. Black Sith robes adorning his body and his simple lightsabre hanging off of his waist as he waited until the Supreme Leader took her seat, and then did the same.

Hands clasped behind her, gazing out of the window of the conference room where the meeting was to take place in the Sith Citadel, she waited for their guests to arrive. Before its fall, the Sith Empire and the First Order had been close allies. Between the war between the old Galactic Alliance and the First Order to the Great Galactic War, they had maintained close ties. Some of those had been personal, such as the Zambranos and their rule of the Pacanth Reach, others had been ideological.

Today, some of the bonds were familial.

It had been no lack of investment on her part, and her wife's to help rebuild the First Order, to get them on a stable footing. The, admittedly lackluster, Dosuun Hegemony had tried and failed to keep the peace of the once and now again capital of the First Order. It had been an experiment, one that had created some bitter feelings that would need to be addressed today between the delegations.

"My Lady, the delegation approaches the Citadel."

She nodded, not turning away from her view. It would be nice to see Ariel again, ever since she and a few others had assisted the girl in bringing back her beloved cousin. Yet more twisting and twining bonds, and it was the Sith Empire's desire to build upon the old friendship and the new budding bonds, to forge anew relations.

"The gift is secure," Ariel replied matter-of-factly as they arrived at the Citadel. "Not much longer, for I suspect we have arrived, Your Majesty." Today was certainly a day for the twists of fate to be turned once more. Closely guarded familial secrets between the Raafs, the Yvarros and the Fortans. In every step that Ariel took she felt them, the binds of fate as she walked along the steps guarded by the First Order's honor guard. Flanked by the Sith Empire's own guards sent to ensure that the delegation would be kept from harm.
She turned and looked over in Malikai Graush's direction, where the one before him had aided the First Order. So too was this one inclined to aid them, and where the New Imperials reputed the Sith and their ilk. Ariel wanted to use them, to further the Empire her cousin now led. They, the First Imperials who now walked the Sith Citadel's hallways, walked to their own Imperial March. The heavy weighted steps of the Supreme Leader, the Moffs and those who accompanied them.
A duel of fates no longer, and yet in the back of her mind she wondered just how long it would be before the Sith Empire would crumble. Mhmmm. The Sith are eternal, or so that is their new mantra, they manage to survive in the deepest, darkest places... Ariel took a deep breath and exhaled from asking her parents to fund the revival of the First Order, to the very resurrection of Natasi Fortan. To the Dosuun Hegemony, there was almost nothing now that did not link Ariel to the Sith Empire in some shape or form.
The gift her cousin had asked about was safely in proximity to them by this point. They were led to the conference room where the two nations would sit and discuss their futures.

The Empire was changing.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes of it's own past self did the Empire once again transform itself, adapting to a roiling, churning galaxy of opportunity as it always would. Everything in recent events from the new Diarchy of their Dark Lord and Empress, to the rising threat of disgusting, but fascinating, monsters to their galactic south, had precipitated this change and now? Now yet another small change looked one of the Empire's best and brightest in the eye as the Shaper sat across from one Cara Dorniarn Cara Dorniarn with a pensive, intent expression on his face. Settling down into a satisfactory evaluation of the arms she bore.

The Shaper, sinking deep into a detached professionalism, a long-practiced stupor of intensely singular focus as he held up her left arm, Turning and studying the mechanical limb with slowly blinking eyes, his touches light and every motion purposeful as he gave a light hum. His examination not quite unlike that of a doctor overlooking a patient, but instead his attention was solely on the crafted limbs of Cara herself, almost exclusively. Though after a time he did bring his attention to where the mechanical limbs met her body and, moving to her right arm, studied them for quite a reduced amount of time before he sat back in his seat. Eyes impassive and thoughtful for a moment, the Whilstones upon his brow glittering brilliantly, before he spoke up. "Most excellent, Miss Dornian. You should be proud of these creations of yours."

The Shaper would release Cara's arm and glance sidelong as he became aware of the presence of the delegation of the First Order. Of their Supreme Leader Natasi Fortan Natasi Fortan and Moff Ariel Yvarro who quickly approached and he would rise from his seat with a small flourish of the cape that adorned his armor. "In time, perhaps, you and I could work together on improving them." The fact that this may have been taken as an insult to Cara's skill was known to the Shaper but, well, he was also supremely confident in their ability to do so. Would this statement still be hurtful to her if it were true? He did not know. "But until then, it seems there are pressing guests who require our attention." A small, knowing smile graced the Shaper's features before he offered a hand to Cara. "Your presence is not only requested, but it would be appreciated Doctor Dornian. I fear I am terrible at social circumstances." A tone somewhere between playful and sarcastic dripped like honey from the Shaper's words as he waited for Cara to take his hand.

Having no time to waste, Joycelyn already awaited the delegation in their meeting room.

Her right ankle rested on her left knee as she leaned back in her chair, but she was far from relaxed. Her eyes skipped across the aurebesh of decrypted reports from throughout the Empire and some from spies far abroad. Important notices for the new Empress, pertinent information about the goings on in the galaxy. She wondered how much of this her father had read when he still served as emperor, and how much he had trusted to his dark council while he delved into the Force. There were many who waited for her to fall short of her father's shadow, and Joycelyn was determined to prove them wrong.

Gold nestled between the black locks of swept-back hair; it was a wreath of golden plates shaped like flames. As far as symbols of power went, it was striking, but understated.

Tall boots, polished to a high shine, hugged her calves. A uniform in stark black and sharp red accents, harkening back to those of the legion and armada, complemented her shapes, physicality, and commanding posture. Draped over the side of her chair was a robe of black and grey. She carried no visible weapon on her, not even a simple lightsabre hilt. One could interpret it as a sign of trust for these talks of diplomacy, or as a sign of personal superiority should a conflict arise.

A ripple touched her senses. Joycelyn's burning eyes flicked up from the holopad while her finger casually shut down the screen.

She rose up from her seat, quickly brushing the dust off her knee from where her boot had rested.

They were here.

The Dark Lord had arrived early to the meeting and was already seated in his position.

It had been a whirl ever since the reformation began. Although the transition to the Diarchy had been smooth, and swift, there was much that required daily attention. It was nothing that he hadn't done or seen before. But it was a monumental undertaking to direct a societal shift from Sith-Imperialism into Sith Eternalism. This coupled with the constant briefings and streams of information he'd often received in his former capacity as Shadow Hand, only now he was the final stop. The joint rule alongside his cousin ensured they could tackle the workload on together and the empire received the attention it deserved during this delicate transition period. For this particular time he'd been signing directives to ORDIS that had taken a direct role in drilling Sith Eternalism into the public, inspiring and electrifying the masses into a fervor of nationalism. As for the coming meeting?
The resurgent First Order brought back many memories from the time he'd spent among them. It was a comfort to know that Natasi Fortan was at the helm of this resurgent government. It certainly did bode well for their talks.
For the meeting the Lord of Lies wore an ornate set of form fitting spider silk robes emblazoned with the sigil of the Sith Eternal. It was black accentuated by red in all of the right places and a delicate choice of sith jewelry completed the ensemble for the giant who sat quietly in the throne. To say he was optimistic would've been too much, he expected nothing going into the meeting. This new First Order certainly had its differences and while he knew many of the players involved, that didn't necessarily mean anything. A gift was prepared for the new Supreme Leader including an amulet. In her new budding sensitivity in the force, there were certain hurdles that she would have to overcome while she cultivated and learned about her newfound power. The amulet would help her control the turbulence of emotion especially in the early time of her training, he'd given it a Galidraani design that he was certain she would approve of. When the delegation had arrived to the structure he stood to greet them.

Natasi led the First Imperial delegation into the meeting room, keeping her head erect as she made her way in at the front of the group. She came to rest opposite the new Empress and offered a deferential but not overly-subservient bow of her head. Natasi was clad in a simple wide- and high-necked black dress, reaching her knees, paired with simple heels and stockings. She was here on business, not to make a fashion statement, but still there were a few slight embellishments: emerald earrings and matching bracelet, platinum wristwatch, an Enlightened Balance brooch at her throat, and a rank badge denoting her position as Supreme Leader at her right breast -- not that it would be required among her own people.

She stopped short of the Empress and straightened. "Your Highness," she said pleasantly. "I bring the greetings of the people of the First Order to you and the Sith Empire. May I introduce the others in my delegation?" She worked through them efficiently and effectively before turning her attention back to the Sith Empress. "Thank you for having us to New Kaas City. It is an impressive city, indeed."

Natasi stepped to one side and beckoned forward the several men carrying the large box, over a meter square and some twenty centimeters tall. "I would be honored if you would accept this gift on behalf of the First Order." At the Supreme Leader's gesture, another man stepped forward and removed the lid, exposing a massive circular map, carved from obsidian and populated in precious metals and gemstones aspects of the Pacanth Reach. "My hope is that it will serve as a testament to the partnership and mutual respect of our two nations and families."

Speaking of family... the Lord of Lies was unmistakable. She inclined her head and favored the gigantic man, Prazutis, with a smile and another dignified, deferential bob of her head. She knew Prazutis a little, and her feeling toward him was optimistic and generally favorable. In a room of strangers, he felt like something approaching a friend -- if one could call the Dark Lord of the Sith that.

"My Lord," Natasi said. "I am pleased to see you looking so well."

It had begun. The new diarchy, presented before the First Order, and so they were introduced and gifts were exchanged. Ariel knew her place and kept her peace. They sat on opposite sides of the table the two delegations, at least those who were present. The delegations were small and Ariel wondered if the First Order had simply wasted time. She suspected that her time would have been better spent on Galidraan, perhaps on a hunting trip to soothe her nerves.

Rather, here she was looking directly at the men and women who represented nearly everything she held in disdain. A cool, casual but sickly malicious voice spoke to her, it whispered that they too could be used. They too had been used by the very man who no longer sat at this table. Ariel was then reminded of the dinner discussions held prior to this day. "We are quite pleased to be here, and we appreciate your hospitality, but now that the pleasantries have been exchanged. Shall we get started on our discussions?"
Whatever relations the First Order and the Sith Empire held in the past, were just that. They were in the past and as dead as the Ssi-Ruuvi that had been spaced from Dosuun. Ariel did her best to avoid Taeli's gaze and twisted the ring on her finger, a gift from Valessia Brentioch to ensure that none of the Sith could invade the thoughts of those presented on behalf of the First Order. Even if they hadn't thought to do so, the protection was there nonetheless. The floor was yielded to others in the room to make their demands or wants, rather, known.

The past was the past.

Despite their previous relationship that nation no longer existed. While a delegation sat before him with the banner of the First Order it wasn't the same. It would've been foolish to assume that the same treatise extended beyond their destruction by the reptilian menace. But the Dark Lord was...optimistic that they could achieve an accord with this new rising First Order. If at the very least it involved a pact of non-aggression, at the most a renewal of alliances. Hostilities between their respective nations wasn't in the best interests of either, and he was sure they could press forward with renewed bonds, and an economically beneficial relationship for both parties.
As his eyes met the Supreme Leaders once her greetings with the Sith Empress and the exchange of gifts occurred he slightly bowed in respect, a warm smile on his face. It was good to see Natasi Fortan once again, and back in the saddle. "The pleasure is mine your highness. It brings me joy to sit before you once more in such a setting as this. To be entirely truthful this was something even I hadn't foreseen." The Dark Lord said as he paused to peer around the room at the assembled guests before returning to his old friend. "In times past the First Order and the Sith Empire stood as allies on the galactic stage, standing together against the chaos of a turbulent galaxy. We were there fighting alongside you when your fall had come. Just as you had done for us all those years ago when you had provided my nephew and myself sanctuary after the fall of the One Sith, we returned such kindness. We aren't here to dwell on the past...this is a different time, we are different people and this is a new galaxy rife with threats. A galactic terror spreads like an infestation through one world after another, and threats to galactic stability remain ever present. I believe it is time that the Sith Empire and the First Order press forward together, as allies on the world stage, your highness. It is through our shared union that we can achieve prominence."

Ariel stared blankly at her step-mother, and even without words, she was sure that Taeli could recognize the expression that had briefly appeared on the younger woman's face. Ariel focused on the man who spoke and while was tall in stature it was clear to Ariel that he did not belong in this room.
The Moff looked at those who had shown up to the summit on the part of the Sith. They want something with no work to show for it. Then of course there was the matter of the Third Imperial Civil War or the fact that it was the Sith Empire who had been responsible for the Dosuun Hegemony that caused the capital of the First Order to rot in arrested development for so long. This man spoke in the same breath of not wanting to dwell on the past and yet he did just exactly that.
How obtuse did one have to be, to ask one Imperial nation to ally with them, while attacking another Imperial nation? Ariel didn't feel compelled to explain to them that the First Order did not abide by dark or light side philosophies. "We will not be taking sides in an ongoing conflict between yourselves and the New Imperial Order."
"All that being said, on behalf of Her Majesty's Government the First Order, at this time cannot commit to an alliance with the Sith Empire, due to the ongoing conflict between yourselves and the New Imperial Order."

With her uncle, the Sith Empire's representatives, and the delegation from the First Order congregating, Joycelyn put on a practised smile. She listened to the greetings and congratulations, the gift giving and introductions. While her uncle expelled his customary pleasantries for the First Order's delegation. Joycelyn too had been present for the First Order's aid of the One Sith, when she herself was a young girl. She remembered well how they were received.

She watched Yvarro's seemingly uncomfortable expression throughout, until the young woman brought her sudden dismissal of their initial premise.

The Empress' lips thinned, she thought for a moment about the diplomatic ways she could spin her words into a beautiful tapestry, but then again, she was never that much of a weaver. She had always preferred a more direct approach.

"Then let us fight that war on our own."

She leaned forward, her left hand turning the palm up toward the First Order's delegation.

"If an alliance is out of the question, can the First Order promise not to interfere on either side in the conflict?"

As far as she was concerned, there was nothing for the First Order to lose on staying out. If anything, it would give them time to consolidate their territory before taking part in the conflicts of powers on the other side of the galaxy.

"I believe my words have not been heard," remarked Ariel toward the Empress. Ariel drew breath through her teeth and exhaled, she examined those who were brought forth today to make a mockery of any diplomatic proceedings. "We will not take part in this war."
It was clear that anything she had to say would fall on deaf ears. It had been at least a hope that they could discuss a trade deal, perhaps get the ugly business of the Dosuun Hegemony out of the way. The talks here were not constructive and only served to deepen Ariel's opinions of these Sith.
"We appreciate your hospitality, truly."
Ariel looked about the room and then toward her step-mother Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf probably the only person on the Sith's delegation who might have had an inkling as to what the young woman was thinking. "But I believe it is time for us to depart Dromund Kaas, and return to Dosuun. After all, you have a war to fight."
