PHYSICAL INFORMATION
0zKa9b7.gif
Age: Early 20’s
Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
Species: Human
Appearance: Leo is a tall man, standing one hundred ninety-six centimeters tall with a lean athletic frame, weighing around one hundred thirteen kilograms. He has scars on his back and chest from the surgical enhancements he underwent while training in the Death Trooper program. He used to wear his hair in the standard military style, but has since let his mane grow long and shaggy since leaving military service. Leo has bright blue eyes, and three long scars he received while fighting on Tephrike on the right side of his face.

He prefers to wear his military fatigues or armor, however he has taken to spacer’s clothing now that he spends more time as a crewman than as a trooper on the ground. Despite this, he can almost always been seen wearing his side arm on his hip.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
Name: DT-967 | Leo | Leo Coburn
Loyalties: The Resistance | Laira Darkhold
Wealth: Leo is fairly poor, living off a handful of credits and carries a small amount of pocket change for trinkets and such he might take an interest in. His expenses are provided for by Laira Darkhold, but he has very little he can call his own outside his equipment.

Notable Possessions: Leo mostly owns weaponry and gear he uses in the field, either left over from his time with the Galactic Empire as one of their enhanced Death Troopers, or having been procured since then from Etti IV or from the Resistance armories he's passed through since defecting. He still keeps his Death Trooper Armor in good condition, cleaned and functional as his preferred gear when going into battle. Usually he wears an MN-B Infiltrator bodyglove and a SH-N Projection helmet with his street clothes to provide him some protection while appearing non-threatening. Often he wears a blast vest with his street clothes, seeing the article as common enough among civilians and contractors to wear without suspicion.

For weapons Leo keeps a number of weapons on hand, including his favored Renegade Model 557 as his side arm worn on his hip and Energy Chorded Combat Knife in his vest. The CZ-H5 Shatterbeam pistol is one of his favorite alternatives for side arms, though he possesses each of the Blaster Wars models given their various uses and purposes. He usually carries a pair of other weapons into battle or on combat heavy missions, using his standard issue E-11D carbine as his primary weapon supplemented by a heavy Eradicator Disruptor. All of his weapons use AR Gas Cartridges and SR Power Cells and he keeps a couple of spares.

As a slicer, Leo uses a modified U20 Field Link with a scramble key and other security equipment like Data Spikes, anti-security blades, Field Security Overloaders, EMP disruptors, and other such devices to disable or hack various electronic systems. He keeps these in a black J1 Utility belt around his waist, though it is missing some of the Jedi-specific equipment. In addition to any mundane equipment he uses, he has a BCC-BC-11 Comlink to communicate with his fellow shipmates, and a Ghostwave Comlink to send messages to the Resistance and Jedi Remnant when necessary.

Skills: Having been trained as a Stormtrooper and excelled enough to undergo Death Trooper training Leo is highly skilled in many aspects of combat. He excels in Close Quarters Battle and Marksmanship, has some training with unarmed and improvised combat, and specializes in slicing through security systems, accessing secure files, and hotwiring controls. He has some training with basic flying, but isn’t much of a dogfighter himself, preferring to stick to manning the guns on a ship or handling the less complicated tasks aboard a vessel.

Outside of combat skills, Leo tries his hand with sketches and poetry, though he’s not very good at it. He’s not a bad investigator, with an eye for details and a good memory, good at remembering faces and noticing things that are out of place, which tends to come in handy while in spaceports.

Personality: Leo, despite having been in a military organization for the entirety of his adult life is fairly kind-hearted, even sweet natured and charming when he wants to be. He is somewhat witty, but very mission-minded, focusing all his attention on the task at hand, closing himself off from having any emotional response while on a mission or in combat, and cutting loose when he is able. Recently he has begun trying to be sarcastic and crack jokes while in combat, both to reassure his comrades and to distance himself from his upbringing.

Leo is slow to trust anyone aside from his squad mates, but for people that he does accept, he considers them to be a part of his chosen family. He has a deep-seated distrust of governments and organizations, as he has suffered through heavy indoctrination to a regime. Now, he prefers to hold loyalty to individuals holding his friends’ well-being as more important than the desires and whims of government entities. He has no qualms with abandoning his mission to help his friends.

COMBAT INFORMATION
Weapon of Choice: Blasters | Knives | Grenades
Combat Function: Leo is a sharpshooter when needed, a gunslinger, and a competent melee fighter, however he is at his best with a blaster in hand. As a Death Trooper he showed a preference for carbines and pistols which have carried over into his career as a spacer.

Strengths:

  • Elite Training: Leo has been well trained throughout his life to perform very well in close quarters battle when called upon. He makes for an excellent gunslinger for the crew, and a decent marksman.
  • Superior Human Conditioning: Surgical enhancements performed upon him have left him with strength, stamina, and reflexes superior to a baseline human of his stature and athleticism, and some increased resilience and resistance to disease and infections.
Weaknesses:
  • Overstress: His enhancements grant him some benefits, but utilizing them for extended periods, places a great deal of pressure on his body which will cause injury to him, such as pulling tendons or ligaments, or straining joints to the point of damaging them.
  • Sensory Overload: Augmented with greater than average hearing and sight, Leo is more susceptible to disorientation caused by loud noises or bright flashing lights.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Very little information exists about DT-967’s childhood as most Death Troopers had their previous lives erased or heavily classified upon graduating from the classified training center on Kamino. Leo speaks of it very little, and the members of his unit that he defected with don’t like to talk about it. What he has revealed is that he was the youngest of three children and that his family were not influential in the least. His older brother was drafted early, and he shortly followed suit, attending an Imperial Military training camp on Torolis. Early on he showed an aptitude for combat and upon graduation, he was recruited to the Death Trooper program while he was still a young man. While there, he and his fellows were surgically enhanced and heavily augmented to perform “Beyond Human” capabilities and heavily indoctrinated to uphold the values of the Galactic Empire: Strength, Unity, and Service.

His unit were deployed numerous times to the Bothan Sector during the Empire’s conquest of the sector, to Dagobah when the Empire attacked the Galactic Alliance, and to Tatooine in defense of the system against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In the desert wasteland, the Death Troopers travel to the Jund Waste, fighting against the droid hordes during the day and suffering through raids by Tuskens at night. Leo suffered a serious injury fighting against the droid armies on the surface of Tatooine, damaging his stomach and small intestine severely enough that he spent several days in bacta and was forced to undergo physical therapy for sometime, however he was redeployed before he had finished healing, returning to his unit who had been undermanned during his absence.

They suffered heavy casualties under the Emperor and later Grand Moff, and their faith in their leaders began to waver as the Empire underwent numerous changes to the regime they had been indoctrinated to. To them, it no longer resembled the Empire that had molded them. Leo, along with nine others lead by Lieutenant DT-109 “Stalgis” eventually made a pact to look out for one another, and Stalgis decided that if the ten of them were to survive, they would have to leave the Empire, which he believed no longer cared for their lives. The next time they were sent away, Stalgis killed their Imperial Intelligence handler and scuttled their shuttle, leaving enough traces that they could be considered killed in the accident that claimed the vessel, the squad leaving to the Tingel Arm where they could find their own way.

Leo spent the next six months working alongside his compatriots as enforcers for a local government on Etti IV associated with a fledgling Corporate Sector Authority. When the Sith Empire began sending advance agents and vanguard forces into the local territory, a number of cities organized a militia to resist the encroaching Sith forces. Leo and his fellow troopers first planned to flee into Wild Space, however Stalgis and several others had grown attached to their new home. He ordered them to remain and resist the Sith, leading to the squad joining with local revolutionaries undertaking actions alongside poorly trained residents. Leo partook in several heinous crimes under the leadership of Kira Ul, a terrorist according to the local authorities. He helped design and implement improvised explosives on civilian locations to assassinate supposed Sith sympathizers, aiding in unleashing biological weapons on enemy troops, and helping disable factories that support the Imperial Warmachine.

He never lost sleep over the possible innocents he killed, they were inconsequential to him. His concerns began and ended with his squadmates and close friends, which had come to include just a small number of his fellow revolutionaries as three of his friends died fighting against the Sith Empire. As the rebellion on Etti IV continued, it proved ineffective. Their reach was limited and it was only a single planet of hundreds that made up and supported the Empire. A single nail is easy to bring a hammer upon, was the saying. Despite all the blood and suffering, Leo and his squadmates were no closer to freedom or surviving. They had not lived a day of their lives free of oppression, much of it by their own choice as much as the fault of others. When the opportunity arose to join the fledgling Resistance, Leo was reluctant. He spoke against joining yet another idealistic group dead set on promoting its ideology, but too many of his squadmates wanted to join for him to feel comfortable walking away on his own. They were his family after all, the only family he had ever truly known.

Though greeted with skepticism, the Death Troopers were allowed within the Resistance, dispatched alongside resources with RESINT under the command of their ally and friend, Kira Ul, now a Captain rather than just a revolutionary. She combined their dwindling numbers with former Galactic Alliance Guardsmen they had likely opposed, and took Stalgis as her second in command in an attempt to show trust and help knit the two groups together. For Leo, it never really took. He felt he knew better than to accept every other trooper that joined them, and kept most at arm’s length, though he was cordial and willing to banter with others. He and his fellows were deployed to a few worlds in old Galactic Empire territory to root out hidden bases or to remove local warlords that had lost most of their support with the Empire’s collapse.

Leo and the rest of his compatriots were then assigned to a RESINT mission escorting a number of doctors and a givin astronavigator alongside Firemane Industries Exploration forces, along with an ExplorCorps Ranger, Laira Darkhold who was acting as their go between. The mission took them to three, previous undiscovered, or at least undiscovered after the Gulag-Plague era, where he was deployed as both a co-pilot and bodyguard. During the trip he spent a great deal of time in simulations as Laira Darkhold’s co-pilot while Cix, his best friend in the squad flew as her wingman. He quickly grew to consider the young woman one of his friends as she was easily accepted by the rest of his squadmates. Her flirtatious nature was off putting, especially since Stalgis had become protective of the young girl in the months they spent together. Stalgis glowered and often berated the Death Troopers that reciprocated her coquettishness. Leo persisted somewhat, but lacked the confidence of many of his compatriots. A trait which inadvertently earned him her favor.

On one ice world he and the squad spent a full day and night waiting for Doctor Vermal to complete a geological survey, and on a swamp planet he was forced to trudge through waist deep mud in search of a semi-sentient slug species they had accidentally uncovered, which drew the interest of one of the other Doctors the squad had been sent to escort. The truest test of Leo’s life was spent on the third world, Tephrike. There, Firemane encountered a hostile Government that eventually called him to combat, flying as Cix’s co-pilot during an escort mission gone awry. He and Cix flew alongside Laira, attempting to clear the skies for diplomats to escape the battlefield, and were shot down alongside several others from the escort wing. Laira found them, and with Cix heavily wounded they attempted to make a stand while waiting for search and rescue. As the situation worsened, Cix covered their retreat into the jungles, telling Leo to ‘live your own life’ before sacrificing himself to buy time for the others to escape. Leo would spend the next several days in a deep depression, only confiding in Laira while they spent time in hiding, as he mourned the death of his oldest friend. The squad then stayed on the planet, just long enough to help destabilize the hostile Dominion's powerbase, during which he suffered three long scars across the right side of his face.

When they returned to the Resistance, he requested to be allowed to leave and despite some opposition he was released from his service to the Resistance. He subsequently joined Laira as her firstmate aboard her ship and accompanies her throughout the galaxy.

I was first going to ask you to balance out the combat function field a bit more, but then I noticed you put them in your weaknesses already. So that works out. I do enjoy the low-key lore stuff you are building out with all your submissions, keep 'em coming!

Approved.
