ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Hyperdrive System
Miscellaneous
Stealth Suite
Communications Suite
Strengths:
  • Sneaky: The Rebel Outcast can appear and transmit as other ships of the class, features a stealth array similar to a StealthX-Wing and several notable freighters allowing it to more effectively sneak through blockades and bypass high security.
  • Fast as Hell: The Rebel Outcast was built with speed in mind more so than offensive might. Featuring a dual set of twin engines and a powerful hyperdrive, the Outcast can cover a great deal of space in a short amount of time.
  • Power Converter: The vessel now includes Power Converters and a small reserve Power Generator, which allows it to boost one of their combat systems in battle, or assist with a rapid startup sequence.
Weaknesses:
  • Unassigned Energy: In combat, the reserve power must be assigned by the pilot or droid or it is not utilized or directed. This means when ambushed by enemy craft, the vessel is not able to perform at its full potential for a time.
  • One System at a Time: The freighter’s power converter can only direct its reserve power to a single combat system at a time, taking several seconds to stop the flow of energy to one system, redirect it, and begin the flow of energy to the next system.
DESCRIPTION
Corellian Engineering Corporation’s XS-Series Freighter saw heavy usage during the days of the ancient Galactic Republic as a mid-sized passenger and cargo vessel. Like many CEC designs, the XS-Series was favored in part because it was so easily modified and upgraded by captains. At some point CEC produced a smaller model of the XS-Series, roughly half the size of its ancient predecessor, to be comparable to its popular YT and YV-Series that came after it. Rebel Outcast has been modified with an upgraded stealth suite, boosted engines, and hyperdrive systems to accommodate it’s captain’s desires. Like many freighters, the Outcast's systems and computers are a bit rundown and worn, but still up to standard. Since it is in part made as a salvage ship it has a Tractor/Pressor Projector, similar in size and scope to those found on the TIE/D Defender. Retractable Magclamps are situated around the ventral nose section, allowing the ship to latch onto a derelict ship or station, and a hull cutting ring to carve an opening in such a ship for boarding purposes. A small Solid Fuel/Ration Converter provides the vessel with extended amounts of fuel and ration provisions until salvageable solid matter becomes scarce.

Propulsion

For its engines, the Outcast uses a merger of the classic YT-1300 ‘bar’ style engines, and the older CEC ‘round’ engine blocks to maximize on the benefits of both. Both engines have been rebuilt and modified to handle the stresses related to higher speeds, acceleration, and more arduous maneuvers. With a ‘bar’ Engine placed to either side of the dual engine blocks as a secondary drive system, while the dual ‘round’ sit on the center axis of the vessel as its primary drive units. Combined with powerful maneuvering jets and a redundant inertial compensator, the dual drive set up not only provides speed but allows the vessel to handle feats in space such as controlled spins, drifting using inertia, sudden full stops followed by quick accelerations, and snap turns. For its hyperdrive, the Outcast makes use of an upgraded AE Specter-class Hypertransit system with a Class 0.3 Hyperdrive rather than the standard 1.0 the system usually comes with. Later an experimental Sub-Hyperspace Drive was installed as a modification to the Hyperdrive system allowing it to access Sub-Hyperspace for relatively short stints, performing linear jumps through otherwise dangerous hyperspace distortions.

Stealth Suite
Much like many famous freighters, stealth equipment has been installed into the Rebel Outcast allowing it to conceal many of its modifications and blue prints from sensor data as well as allowing it to run in stealth mode. It makes use of Programmable Paint, a False ID transponder, and a Sensor Modulator allowing the vessel to take on a number of possible identities if necessary. The Rebel Outcast features a Drive Baffler to heavily reduces its efflux emissions from its engines and thrusters, an Magnetic resonator and Gravitic Modulator, which in addition to hiding its Magnetic and Gravitic signature from most sensors can also adjust its sensor signatures to that of its false identities. Energy Dampeners and Static Jammers make it hard to detect, allowing it to mimic solar fluctuations, cosmic radiation, or blend into background fluctuations in atmosphere on many sensors if the system is active similar to how the
Ghost was able to avoid blockades during the Galactic Civil War, as well as making it difficult for enemies to get target locks on the vessel.

The vessel lacks full stealth and while it can attempt to hide in many systems, sometimes it is more advantageous to use false ID’s to pass through security. Laira keeps a few key codes and identifications on hand, such as the Far Runner as Laira’s favored alter ego; the Tachyon Runner owned by Jaina Marrow; and the Zeltros Dream based out of the pleasure planet. Other signatures could be fabricated or emulated as needed given a decent mechanic and accurate sensor readouts of the appropriate data. As the Rebel Outcast its signature data is unregistered.

Offensive Systems

The Outcast features limited weaponry as its not intended as a direct combat vessel. Instead its weapons were included in the situation where avoiding conflict was improbable or it was necessary to bring it into combat. For its primary weapons it features a pair of dual laser cannon turrets on the dorsal and ventral surface connected by a central access tube from the main deck. Each turret is configured to rotate and elevate in a semi-sphere to cover the vessel with very little overlapping fields of fire, and are mounted to be able to effectively track interceptors and starfighters. These dual cannons are strong enough to deal with small asteroids, starfighters, and with a sustained salvo can be enough to down patrol corvettes in a pinch. The Turrets can be manually operated, operated by the ship’s main computer with decreased efficiency, or linked to the pilots targeting computer and fired from the cockpit. Supporting those weapon systems are a trio of warhead launchers, two facing forward, one mounted aft to fire on pursuers. Each have an internal shielded quick-change magazine to allow the pilot to quickly change between different types of ordinance and prevent sympathetic detonation.

Defensive Systems
Defensively, the XS-Series relies heavily on reinforced Durasteel armor around a bronzium frame as its primary means of defense. The Outcast features a relatively light Deflector Shield, upgraded with the Eidolon Energy Modulation package to counter the ever increasing number of shield bypassing weapons being produced throughout the galaxy. It is capable of using a Shutter mode like those used to counter Dovin Basals during the Yuuzhan Vong War. Internally, the structure and frame allows for some compartments to suffer damage without disabling or decompressing the vital areas of the ship through the use of integrity fields to maintain atmosphere. Stock fire suppression systems are found throughout the ship, a system of cap drains, and vital systems have their wiring protected by electromagnetic shielding.

Layout

The Cockpit is spacious, reconfigured into Laira’s preferred tandem arrangement with the pilot’s seat situated in the front-right of the cockpit that is capable of swiveling or locking in place, and the co-pilot seat to the rear-left, leaving enough space for the pilot to swivel and exit without disturbing the co-pilot. The controls are configured on a single stick control yoke with dual rudder pedals in the floor, and other flight controls on the dash.

The interior is reminiscent of many YT and YV models that preceded the Rebel Outcast. All compartments are arranged in a circle around the central connecting corridor which lead to the Ventral and Dorsal guns. From the cockpit there is a corridor along the center axis of the ship towards circular section. Along this corridor is a series of wall lockers, equipment cabinets, weapons racks, and medical kits which fit neatly into the walls. The corridor terminates at an antechamber with the circular hallway off to the left, and the common area to the right. The Common room is adorned with a few comfortable chairs, a holovid screen, a table and booth which can all be folded away for extra storage space. The room itself is large enough to move around in and train with a lightsaber if desired with most of the furniture packed away. Turning to the left from the cockpit, leads down a curved hallway with two rooms on the outer edge, the Captain’s Quarters and the Galley.

To the right of the room is a door to the Captain's Cabin, with a sectioned off bedroom and office. The office area has a large comfortable recliner, data terminal, and work bench for tinkering with weapons and equipment as well as a few lockers for storage. The bedroom is furnished with a full-sized
relaxa-bed, a holoscreen, wall lockers, weapon’s wrack, a personal fresher with a shower, toilet, and sink. Laira keeps several hidden drawers with personal valuables and her false Identifications, slicer gear, and other spyware tucked neatly out of sight in containers that won’t be detected by a boarding crew. Beside the Captain’s quarters is the Galley, which doubles as a briefing room. Possessing a refined palate, Laira installed a gourmet food processor and a connection to the fuel/ration converter, along with the basic kitchen utensils such as dishwasher and oven. Continuing on, at the ninety degree axis is the opening to main storage compartment with its own loading ramp. The cargo bay also features access to the ship’s single escape pod in the back of the compartment.

At the access bulkhead, a concealable emergency hatch leads downward into the sensor shielded hangar the Outcast has been modified to have. The hangar has only enough space for a single X-Wing to be loaded and is unnoticeable from the outside until opened to release the X-Wing within. The hatch leads downward into the hangar bay, which can be pressurized to act as a mechanics bay for the fighter, however cramped it may be. When launching the craft the bay doors slide open and the arresting struts lower the fighter rapidly from the freighter so that it clears the hull. When landing the X-Wing has to line up with the arresting struts so they can take hold of the starfighter and raise it into the freighter safely. This takes a skilled hand and while the craft can be launched with ease during combat, returning is normally only capable in less stressful environments.

Beyond the cargo bay there is the main refresher and the Crew Quarters. Crew quarters contain enough space for two addition crewmen, each with their own small dormitory, while sharing a refresher. In times of need, each dorm has a hidden bunk that can be set up to provide additional sleeping space. The Ship’s engineering bay is located across from the Crew Quarters at the aft of the ship where the engines, hyperdrive, and other systems can be accessed by the crew. The Outcast has been heavily modified, and so has exposed couplings and jury-rigged components to accommodate for the additional power requirements needed for the more powerful propulsion systems. The medical bay, adjacent to the crew quarters on the interior side of the ring-corridor. With a bacta tank, surgical bed, and a surgical droid to perform minor operations and life saving measures. For more serious, complex issues, there is no replacement for a proper surgeon, however the medbay is fairly well stocked with basic needs and the ability to assist in the recovery from many injuries. The ring corridor then connects with the boarding ramp and common room at the end, making a complete circle. Several hidden compartments are found within the ship, coated with sensor blocking substances so that they appear as solid hull plates able to hold roughly two hundred kilograms of cargo, or three adults if necessary.

Okay, so as with your other submission this submission is one (1) rating overpowered. That being said, I am happy to accept the weaknesses you've listed as significant enough to warrant the imbalance. As I said in the other submission, please ensure that you remain faithful to the submission's weaknesses when using it in roleplay. Otherwise it could be reported and rejected after the fact.

That being said, enjoy your ship!

APPROVED.
