The Commerce Guild has shown up on Woostri. And they're pleased as punch to be there. Nice world. Temperate world. Large local population and a rich history of advanced automation. But if you think that's the best part, you might be missing out.​

​

The Great HoloScan Database of Woostri was once a wonder of the galaxy. Its structure coiled around the planet's surface like a covetous serpent: thousands of kilometers in length, hundreds of stories in height.​

​

But for all that bulk, time had not been kind to it. Some sections flooded and then sunk beneath rising seas. Others simply collapsed in on themselves as their frames rusted out. And more than a few portions are now festering with animal or criminal activity.​

​

It's a grand snake, but a broken and divided one.​

​

The collapse of the Confederacy of Independent Systems left the woostoids and their ruined HoloScan Database high-and-dry. But the Commerce Guild is here to fill in. As part of a larger sweetheart deal with the flailing planetary administration, the Guild has agreed to clear out and refurbish a huge segment of the HoloScan Database: the one that cuts through the capital of Gopsthal.​

​

They decided to call it Segment Blue.​

​

The planetary administration admits it: they don't know what's been in there or for how long. But that's fine. Whatever it is, the Guild has an answer. Massive construction droids scour Segment Blue's surface, and the Silver Shield Group's vaunted contractors square up at their designated breach points. Meanwhile, other eyes fall on the remaining two segments, left rotting far from the reach of Gopsthal and the Guild.​

THE DATABASE SEGMENTS

The HoloScan Database might be a husk of itself, but there's still plenty of value that can be scraped from it. In addition to troves of valuable schematics and historical records, there are rumors of valuable artifacts collected from across the galaxy that the woostoids once curated.​

​

The planetary government maintains that attempts to recover, repair, scavenge, or even access any lost segments must be cleared through them. In reality, their ability to enforce this is exceptionally limited.​

​

While the Commerce Guild has "exclusive rights" to Segment Blue, there's no telling what might be stolen before they move in. The other two standing segments, sequestered in Woostri's remote climes, remain a de-facto a free-for-all.​

Segment Blue: An ailing segment which spans the length of Gopsthal's urban sprawl. Some outer pockets even remain serviceable, if you don't mind the intermittent blackouts. Segment Blue contains collections on droid engineering, industrial automation, and artificial intelligence, among other things. Maybe that's why the inner recesses are occupied by a cell of murderous droids aligned to the Vixani March.​

Museum sections included relics of the abominor and silentium.​

​

Segment Green: A rusted-out segment, one end surrounded by jungle with the other collapsing into the sea. Segment Green catalogued research into medicine and agriculture. At some point it became infested by a growing swarm of rakghouls. The rogue mystic rumored to be responsible for the infestation is said to still reside someplace inside, but the few brave enough to try and find out never came back.​

Museum sections included relics of the Baran-Do, Jal Shey, and Zeison-Sha.​

​

Segment Red: A desiccated segment which cuts through an arid, winding canyon. Segment Red was once the site of extensive weapons research and catalogues of armaments. Segment Red is currently marked by shanty towns belonging to esoteric machine cults, led by an immobile and supposedly oracular cyborg. They are not outright hostile, but do consider attempts to prospect Segment Red a blasphemous act, punishable with violence.​

Woosh. Oceiros blinks, and now he's here. A metal hallway, dusty and rusted, torn-up wires dangling from the ceiling. Not a pretty place, but maybe it had been once. Flood lights had been set up intermittently through the halls, with cords leading off to whatever generators the Silver Shield Group had dragged here with them.​

​

Speaking of: one of Silver Shield's nameless goons rounded the corner at their usual clipped, purposeful pace and nearly slammed into him, skidding to a sudden halt at the last second.​

​

Nearly jumped straight out of his boots.​

​

"Gah! Son of a-"​

​

"Easy, buddy," Oceiros showed him his palms, "It's just me."​

​

The contractor stared at Oceiros of Shor like he had a third arm growing out of his chest. Well. That's the vibe he picked up, anyway. He couldn't confirm on account of the helmet - which had the distinct black stripe of a senior officer painted on the forehead.​

​

"I know it's you. I know who you are," he hissed, "But how the hell did you get in here? The entrance-"​

​

"Shhh, shh. Don't worry about it, brother-man."​

​

He folded his arms across his chest and stood with the kind of posture that implied he was very much worried about it. "Satoshi and Harcrow are waiting in the lobby. Don't hold us up."​

​

The shorak scoffed. "Wouldn't dream of it, man. This is the most interesting thing anybody's asked me to do in months."​

​

Oceiros gave him a clap on the shoulder and shuffled past him. Satoshi and Harcrow. What a team! You could write novels about this stuff. Three cool Guild-contractors, nothing to lose, money to earn, coming together to…​

"Lobby's in this direction. That's the entrance."​

​

Oceiros ground to a halt. "Huh. Cool."​

​

He backpedaled, then walked the rest of the way with senior officer blowhard.​

SEGMENT BLUE - MAINTENANCE TUNNEL

Many lightyears from Woostri, a handful of corporate officials were seated near a tactical display; some were chatting, others watching, and one was eagerly sampling the available snacks. It was a delicate operation best left to deniable assets.

"You are cleared to proceed, Gamma One. Nonlethal engagement protocols, of course."

Through a combination of being at the right place at the right time and knowing the right people, Desric had found himself in nominal command of an operation despite a complete lack of military experience. Luckily, he would not be doing much.

The muted hum ended, followed by a clatter as a duracrete block with white-hot edges was shoved out of the way. Six shapes crawled out of the hole in the wall with eerie agility before fanning out without a word. The militarised Scions carried sleek weapons and wore armour that shifted to resemble the dark shades of the unlit corridor.

Entry successful. Proceeding to objectives.

Primary Objective: Recover extra-galactic technology.

Secondary Objective: Terminate rogue units with faulty cognition.

Back in the control room, Desric decided to try a cupcake. He might have been somewhat more concerned if he had known that Segment Blue was not just home to 'a few defective and soon-to-be-decommissioned Globex products'.

The FDS Raptor emerged from hyperspace arriving in orbit of the Planet of Woostri within the Expansion Region, followed by two other Judgement-Class Light Cruisers. The Commerce Guild and the Globlex Corporation weren't the only parties who had taken an interest in this little scavengers hunt within the ruins of the Great HoloScan Database of Woostri, but unlike these large Corporations, the Final Dawn wasn't here to simply acquire relics from the past and then depart from Woostri, they were here to stay with the intent of securing absolute control over Segment Red for their own nefarious agendas.

As such a task force of three light cruisers capable of transporting up to 2,600 Soldiers from the Hand of Judgement were sent to Woostri under the command of Special Agent Joseph Torson of the Politorate to ensure that any obstacle to the Final Dawn's plans would be swiftly eradicated. Such a force was quite excessive, even for the Final Dawn but considering the amount of groups of interests that might be present, it was necessary as it would ensure that the operation would proceed smoothly and without interruption. The Final Dawn had failed to take advantage of other opportunities in the past due to unexpected strong opposition, and as such here at Woostri they would make sure that they could not be caught off-guard by any other individuals and organizations. They would claim Segment Red one way or another.

Thus after all the preparations were made, the first wave of Final Dawn Forces would began mobilizing with Five Troop Transports spearheaded by a single Sith Infiltration Shuttle emerging from the hangars of the FDS Raptor, soon descending within the atmosphere of Woostri headed straight for Segment Red of the planet's Great HoloScan Database. Their arrival would mark the beginning of the Final Dawn's operation on Woostri and hopefully no one would be bold enough to challenge their might.

[Xun of Throne]

Klaxons went off aboard the flagship cruiser, Pride of Anaxes, a comparatively small cruiser sitting above the planet.

“Beat to quarters,” growled Tiberius, voice as stern as stone. He stood and departed the bridge, “I will lead the assault myself.”

A cadre of armor ensconced figures strode swiftly through the halls, the fall of their heavy boots like drumbeats. Tiberius and his so-called Anaxian paladins.

Moments later, a dozen Orbalisk-class boarding transports screamed out of the hangar, followed by a squadron of X-wings. Tiberius’ fingers wrapped around the overhead grip and he looked grimly at the occupants of his shuttle. These Gray Paladins in their duraplast armor were students of the Force, but not in the same way as the Jedi. The Force was not a mystical entity or guiding light. It was a tool, to be utilized by those who could wield it. Just like the carbine in Tiberius’ hands.

“Marshal, T-minus two to hull contact,” said the pilot over the comms.

Tiberius grunted, “Good. Get us there first. I want one of my paladins to win the iron sword.” First to breach, first to wear the sword. “We’ve Mawite dogs to put down.”

The assault force shrieked through space and straight for the FDS Raptor.

"Bloody hell..."

It was always one thing or another these days. Driver had been bouncing back and forth between the various fronts these days. Between the Maw and the Empire, his plate was filled and practically overflowing. He liked to stay busy, but a vacation would be nice. It was off to Woostri this time. Mawite forces were storming a historical catalogue to salvage ancient artifacts of some sort. Driver had some experience in that department. Task Force Y had given him a pretty good taste of what the Sith were capable of, and he had gotten pretty good at handling their goons. The clone let his fingers drift over his eyepatch. It was new, a fresh injury from the front. He'd already gotten used to the limited sight, but the loss of an eye was nothing to take lightly. He would need to tread with a strategic mind going forward.

The drop ship shook as they entered Woostri's atmosphere. Driver lifted his helmet up off the floor and slipped it over his head. It was gonna be a long day. For better or worse, the drop ship made its way towards Segment Red. He took a quick inventory of his gear and the sergeant was in it. Blasters, vambrace, grenades... Seemed he had everything in order.

"Alright," he muttered to himself, "Let's fething do this."

From the bridge of the Raptor, Joseph Torson watched as the first wave of Final Dawn forces headed towards the surface of Woostri ready to begin their operation, beside him was Naivia Ri, a fresh-face within the Final Dawn who had been assigned by the Director-Admiral to assist Special Agent Torson in this operation. One of Torson's subordinates, a certain Lieutenant Mithak had been placed in charge of the first wave of Final Dawn Forces which had been given the task of securing the main entrance and lobby of Segment Red which in turn would be utilized as a forward base for the rest of the operation, providing the Final Dawn with a foothold within the Great HoloScan Database. With his hands clasped behind his back, Torson spoke to the Captain of the Raptor inquiring on the progress of the operation "What is the status of Mithak's Force?" the Special Agent asked. "They are still in the process of descending towards their designated destination. They should arrive in approximately three to five more minutes." the Captain said. "Good. Make sure we are prepared for the second wave, as soon as Mithak has secured the target position, we will-"

Suddenly, the systems of the FDS Raptor became active indicating the arrival of an incoming ship. "Sir, we have an unknown ship emerging from hyperspace." one of the officers said. Soon enough, a single cruiser emerged from hyperspace identified only as the Pride of Anaxes. It's design was unknown and no one could identify which faction this ship belonged too, which confused the bridge crew for a while before Torson spoke once more. "Hail that ship, i would like to know who they are and what they are doing here" Torson ordered. However before the Special Agent could be connected to the Pride of Anaxes, his bridge crew immediately found out what their intentions were as they spotted the deployment of Boarding Craft and X-Wings.

"Sir! That cruiser has deployed multiple Boarding Craft and a single X-Wing squadron" another officer said. "...and-" Torson finished the sentence for the officer. "And we are their target. Just as i thought no one was bold enough to attack us" the Special Agent said before sighing. This had be the Galactic Alliance, he thought, after all they were near their territory, only three jump points away so it was very likely that it was them carrying this attack, but they had arrived too soon for the Special Agent's liking especially considering at how he had barely begun his operation and they were already baring down on him. Either this was a coincidence or somehow the Alliance knew of their planned operation prior to it's implementation by the Hand of Judgement. Regardless, they would be defeat one way or another, and the Special Agent would then find the source of such treasury and uncover where the Alliance had gotten it's information from.

Torson then immediately took the comms and sent a message across the FDS Raptor. "All personnel man your battlestations, we are under attack" he said before the alarms starting ringing. He then turned to the captain of the Raptor and issued new orders. "Captain, have one of the Light Cruisers move into the upper atmosphere of Woostri so that they can carry out the Second Phase. I will not allow these distractions from preventing us from achieving our goal." he said. "Yes sir" the Captain said before getting back to work.Then Torson turned to Naivia Ri and spoke once more. "Miss Ri. I need you to repel that boarding party and prevent them from reaching any critical areas such as the bridge, engines, reactors and targeting systems. You will be provided with a unit of Purge Troopers to accomplish this. The sooner we get rid of these intruders, the better." Torson proclaimed.

Within seconds, the Anti-Starfighter Weapons of the FDS Raptor came live unleashing a heavy barrage of anti-starfighter weaponry upon both the X-Wings and Boarding Craft, a few dozen of these types of weapons had been enough to tear over sixty starfighter squadrons within minutes, perhaps even seconds, as demonstrated during the Final Dawn's confrontation with rogue Metal Lords in the Hapolafey System. Whoever was leading this charge had guts, Torson thought, but regardless they would be defeated and brought back to O'reen in chains one way or another, the in the name of glory for the Final Dawn.

Half a Dozen Final Dawn Transports cleared the skies of Woostri as they came to approach the primary entrance of Segment Red, within the lead Sith Infiltration Shuttle was a man by the name of Lieutenant Mithak, a former Sergeant within the Galactic Alliance Defense Force who retired from active service to serve in the Security Forces of a Corporation known as Have Will Gun Travel, which in turn aligned itself with the Final Dawn during the Battle of Adrathrope which led to his current assignment as a Lieutenant within the Paramilitary Group known as the Hand of Judgement. Mithak had been fortunate enough to gain the personal favor of the High Regent, Marlon Sularen and would eventually found himself serving the High Regent's Protégé, Joseph Torson.

Now, he was here at Woostri carrying out yet another operation in the name of the Final Dawn. After the unexpected death of his former boss, Haon Hafey, he had fully devoted himself to the Final Dawn and was ready to everything in his power to advance it's goals, and now here he would ensure that the Politorate would gain full control of the contents of Segment Red of the Great HoloScan Database of Woostri which lay in ruins, a far cry from it's glory days as one of the galaxy's largest research institutions. Soon enough, the five Troop Transports would make landfall, coming to rest right infront of the main entrance to Segment Red and unloading their compliment of Final Dawn Purge Troopers and Retribution Corps Operatives who immediately began moving in formation as Mithak's Sith Infiltration Shuttle touched the ground.

As soon as Mithak's Shuttle landed, eight Raptor Commandos would emerge from the Shuttle descending the Shuttle's ramp before Lieutenant Mithak himself would emerge. Infront of the young Lieutenant stood some of the Hand of Judgement's finest soldiers, deadly, ruthless and efficient, they were a force to be reckoned with and would be sufficient enough to annihilate an entire army four times their size with their current numbers. Following the Lieutenant from behind was Sergeant Hunter, formerly a member of the Constitutional Guard of Beshqek who had since been assigned to the Hand of Judgement as another subordinate to Joseph Torson.

As both Mithak and Hunter walked past the various men gathered around them, flanked by four Raptors infront of them and four Raptors behind them, Hunter proceeded to speak. "This place is way larger then i thought. Are you sure the force we brought will be enough?" the Sergeant asked. "Of-course it is, we have a small fleet in orbit enough to maintain control over the skies and the space around Woostri and the closest friendly bases are only two jump-points away. If we face too much opposition, we'll just send word for more units to be deployed until our foes either lay down their arms or are annihilated." Mithak began. "The Director-Admiral was clear on his orders. We must secure Segment Red regardless of the means, should we fail the entire Database is to be reduced to rubble via orbital bombardment, and i would prefer if we would not have to resort to the latter."

Once Mithak and Hunter reached the front of the Final Dawn Formation, they gazed upon the massive structure that stood infront of them, still flanked by the Raptors who kept an eye out for any foes that might try to sneak up on them. "You're right about the size of this structure though. It will take some time for us to even establish full control over the area. But for now, we simply need to eliminate the competition and ensure that the rest of the Segment can be properly takeover without any issue." Mithak added. "And if the Alliance, the Rimward Trade League or any of the Corporations interested in this landmark try to intervene?" Hunter added. "Then we will annihilate them like the dogs they are. Nothing, will get in our way Hunter. Nothing"

Then Mithak began to walk forward followed by the Raptors, with Hunter motioning for the others to follow them. "Alright men! Let's get's started, move out and keep an eye for any interlopers that might cause us some trouble. Remember to shoot first and ask questions later, we cannot afford any, unfavorable distractions" the Sergant said. In unison, the Purge Troopers and Retribution Corps Operative turned around and would begin marching t0wards the entrance of the Database Center, with Mithak, Hunter and their compliment of Raptors in leading the march.

[Xun of Throne]

Streams of red plasma fire from concentrated point defense cannons cut through the ink, ensnaring incoming shuttles in incandescent webs laser fire that tore some craft open, splitting them apart and spilling the soldiers inside out into the void.

Tiberius’ grip around the upper latch tightened as his shuttle bounced and shuddered beneath the impact of fire. The paladins within the transport, clad in their SOMA-II duraplast, stared out - their visors expressionless. But he could feel their trepidation in the Force. Those were their comrades dying out there. He turned and looked toward one of the soldiers. This man’s armor bore silver inlays.

“Akilles,” he said on the private line between just the two of them.

“Yes, father?”

“I am proud of you my son. Whatever happens, know this.”

A silence stretched between them, deep and churning with emotion. Then the pilot shouted over the comm.

“Coming in hot, first to board, I’m vectoring in for a landing approach on their hull. Hold on!”

Adrienne moved through the jungle with a sleek grace.

The vines and branches couldn't quite catch hold of her, though they wanted to. This place, here on Woostri, was well known indeed. However, the Sith apprentice hadn't come for knowledge -- not as such. Instead, she sought out the rakghouls rumored to have infested a section of the vast archive. With an interest in Sith Sorcery, she aspired to create her own abominations in time. She needed more experience.

And so, she had come armed with her saber and a dark red amulet.

With this amulet, she hoped to bend the minds of some of the ghouls to her will. If they truly ran rampant without a maker, it'd be simple. However, she knew that some held power of the rakghouls with the relics used to create them. If such a thing could be found... well, she'd take that, too.

There was only one way to find out just what was waiting here in the ruins...

SEGMENT GREEN

"It's a giant-ass library," Aeshi grunted, bringing the machete down through the underbrush. "How fething hard can it be to see?" Sweat streamed down her forehead and she wiped her face with the sleeve of her coat. The spacer's leather stuck to her skin and she grimaced at the uncomfortable sensation. "We should be damn well able to see it form orbit."

But they had not, despite her best efforts. The jungle was just too thick, and the library too far powered down. Her machete echoed with a clang in the next stroke, that rang through the jungle like a bell. Aeshi let out a long breath and dropped the machete. Its flat side bounced off her boots and she pulled at the thick undergrowth.

Durasteel gleamed faintly in the dim light. "Oh thank the Force." Aeshi muttered, leaning forward to rest her forehead against the metal. It was refreshingly cool to the touch.

Now she just had to get into the thing. Was there a door nearby? She tugged at the vines and yanked them from the metal surface.

No, no door. She glowered. Rakhghouls. Some crazy mystic. She figured they'd all be dead by now, if they ever existed. If not, she didn't think rakghouls could bite through her jacket, and if they tried, her double .48s or the gatecrasher should dissuade them. After a moment, she pulled the omnicutter from her bandolier and flipped it to the side, pursing her lips as she surveyed the metal.

She didn't want to destroy anything on the inside, especially any old databanks. Force only knew what had been forgotten in this library, but the Outer Rim needed it. Medical information, agricultural sciences. Perhaps even some of the old terraforming research. Not that they could pull off full terraforming, but they could probably help make habs a little more effective, especially for agriculture.

Whatever was in here was going to make life better for a whole lot of people, if she or the others could only figure out to get into the thing without having to go diving.

 

[Caulder Dune]

CAPITOL SEAT - OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

Caulder Dune watched the president's empty desk for a minute. Checked the opulent chronometer on his wrist. Another minute. He took a deep breath through his nostrils. Caulder considered himself, above all, a patient man. But even he had limits. He let another minute tick by before loudly clearing his throat.​

​

"You can come out now, Wanash."​

​

Slowly and with an abundance of caution, a noseless, yellow face peeked out from behind the desk. Wanash was indistinguishable from the rest of the woostoids so far as Caulder could tell - kept apart from them only by his crisp suit, emblazoned at the lapel with the symbol of the woostoid government… And a tussle of reddish-brown hair, which just touched his shoulders.​

​

Wanash watched him, frowning. "You should take cover. Or we should both evacuate. The Final Dawn…"​

​

The Information Gangs that had installed Wanash were not just going to let him leave without finalizing terms. And neither, quite frankly, would Caulder.. He simply preferred the veneer of decorum, at least.​

​

The old umbaran shook his head. Politely. Apologetically, even. "You have my assurance they are disinterested in your planet at large. They are quite far from here."​

​

"They're in orbit!" Wanash snapped, "The Maw, of all things. They followed you here, didn't they?"​

​

It seemed an unlikely prospect. Like any other scavenger, the Maw smelled something festering and came to investigate. It was what the Guild had done - or rather, was doing - after all. Still more were at work.​

​

"No. The Maw and their bloodhounds rampage wherever they please. I recall a recent sighting as far afield as Eriadu."​

​

Wanash said nothing and continued to stare at him. Caulder did not like their eyes. Too big, and for all that space they only shone a blood black nothing. "Yes, well," Caulder restrained a growing scowl, "Perhaps you will have an opportunity to meet him when his work is done. He and an element of the Galactic Alliance…"​

Wanash sucked in air, "The Final Maw are fighting the Galactic Alliance in orbit of my planet?"​

Caulder attributed that malapropism to nerves. He only scratched behind his ear nonchalantly. "Perhaps we might better discuss the political ramifications if you were seated…?"​

"So tell me again what we're doing here," Alex StormWolf grumbled, leaning a shoulder against the corroded metal wall and crossing his arms, while he watched Seku Bondara trying to persuade an access door to open using the same Outlaw Tech code breaker she had been unsuccessful with during the action at the Imperial Black Site weeks earlier. Her lekku twitched in irritation at the code breaker's abysmally slow progress.

"There's supposed to be a huge database that stretches for kilometers here on Woostri, dating back thousands of years," Seku answered. "This sector in particular is rumored to contain a treasure trove of information on medicine and agriculture. There's even a museum down here with Zeison-Sha relics if you're interested, seeing how you were born and raised on Yanibar."

"Usually, I'm the one with really bad ideas and you're voice of reason," Alex said. "We haven't slipped into some alternate universe or something have we?"

"No! Of course not," Seku shot back, growing more and more aggravated with the code breaker by the minute.

"How'd you find out about this place, Hirani," Alex pressed, smirking a bit as he noticed Seku growing more and more exasperated.

"Word has it the Commerce Guild is looking to broker a deal with the planetary government in exchange for exclusive access to the HoloScan Database," Seku answered. "I want to see what we can find that may be of use to the Alliance before the Guild gets its grubby paws on it."

"Ah, a little espionage. The Director know you're doing this," Alex asked, referring to the SIA's head and Seku's superior.

"Duh! You think I'm crazy enough to stray off the farm and go rogue," Seku snapped, rolling her eyes at Alex.

"Have I told you lately how cute you are when you're angry," Alex asked Seku with a smirk.

"Don't push your luck, Mister..."

"Serious question here, if I may....Is there anything down here we should be concerned about? Automated defenses, that sort of thing?"

"Well.....the briefing did say something about Rakghouls and a rogue mystic of some sort," Seku admitted after an awkward pause.

"Rakghouls?! Like the ones that infest Taris? They bite or scratch you, and you turn into one of them about 12 to 18 hours later? Those Rakghouls?..."

"Yeah....those Rakghouls."

"Oh, that's just cute, Hirani. What the hell have you gotten us into here?"

"Relax, I have enough of the Rakghoul plague vaccine to take care of us for a few days."

"You mean it wears off?"

"Unfortunately. If we're lucky, we won't be here that long."

"And if we're unlucky?"

"We have blasters," Seku said with a shrug. "If it gets to that point, we'll shoot each other."

"Excuse me?! Who the hell are you and what have you done with the real Seku Bondara?"

"Alex, come on, live a little! I've read about this place for years! I've always had a keen interest in archeology. In fact, I wanted to study to become an archeologist before I wound up getting recruited by the Office."

"Help me, Obi Wan, you're my only hope." Alex said, shaking his head.

The team of droids had barely made its way into Segment Blue before a series of alerts erupted across the tactical display, almost making Desric choke on his cupcake. "Fuck. The Maw?" Three light cruisers? That was an issue.

"Do we have any available naval assets?" One of the Corpos - Security Division, if Desric remembered correctly - opened his mouth only to shut it when AMCO's icon appeared on the display. "Two Legion-class Drone Carriers assigned to convoy security can be rerouted; the convoy can halt at Vandelheim and join up with a CISLO convoy in two hours."

Blinking slowly, Desric took a moment to process the information - and the speed of the response.

"Ah, well, good. Make it so." Naturally, two heavy corvettes were woefully inadequate to deal with the the Maw forces, but it was better than nothing. What defences did the planet itself have? He had no clue.

The ground operation was proceeding smoothly, at least - the six droids had encountered no resistance so far, but then they had yet to depart the worn maintenance tunnels beneath the facility proper. Soon, however, they would reach the exhibits - any data would be copied and any items assessed; six droids could only carry so much, after all.

Especially if they wanted to be ready for a possible confrontation with other interested parties.

Prep for entering had paused, briefly, so all the present contractors could sync up. Satoshi swept his gaze across the room, and one by one, subtle blue outlines blinked on and outlined the shapes of each Silver Shield Contractor present in the lobby. His gaze stayed over one of the goons longer than the rest. An alphanumeric designation blipped next to the contractor: CL-8675. He nodded once to himself.​

"Synced. Standby. We'll move soon." Like clockwork, the armored contractors went back to their prep work. Satoshi turned and strode across the lobby to the one person who hadn't been a part of the huddle.​

​

"Harcrow," Sato addressed the Marshall and offered a black device, small enough to fit in a pocket, which he held between his thumb and forefinger, "Keep it on you. For ID."​

​

He fell silent and stood next to Aro for a while, hands folded at his front. He tapped his finger rhythmically, impatiently, on his wrist.​

​

"He's late," Sato flatly stated, "He's always late."​

The sound of metal striking against something made Adrienne pause. She crouched down in the jungle brush and peered into the distance. There were definitely others around, she could feel them. At that moment, she dimmed her own presence down to nothing. It'd be unwise to give herself away so easily, wouldn't it?

Looking around, Adrienne decided that it might be best to get a bird's eye view.

Jumping up, she grabbed hold of a branch and started to climb the tall trunk. From the canopy, she could look down on the structure. The zig-zag design of the archives disappeared off into the distance one way -- and towards the sea in the other. She could also make out the leather-clad figure of a woman, who seemed to be puzzling over something. Adrienne narrowed her eyes.

Of course, she liked to work alone best of all. She didn't want to reveal her presence and interact with others unless it was necessary. However, this might make things easier. She'd play nice... for now. And, she'd play her cards close to her chest... like always.

And so, she let out a sharp whistle to get the spacer-woman's attention.

"Why not cut in from the roof?" Is that what the spacer was thinking, too? She seemed to be... cautious about just where to cut.

There was a flicker of sensation in her mind and then somebody spoke behind and above her. She spun on her heel, one hand holding the omnicutter up as a weapon, while the other hand dropped to her hip, resting on the butt of her .48. It was a strangely dressed woman and Aeshi let her gaze and senses sweep out through the jungle around them. She thought there were other voices not too far away, and cocked her head to listen.

"Mostly because I don't know how deep the floor drops down," Aeshi said at last, exhaling slowly. "And don't whistle like that. You're fixing to get shot like that." She rolled her shoulders for a moment and closed her eyes to let the adrenaline flood down.

"It's not a bad idea, though. Got a rope of some sort we can use to drop in with?" Something about this woman set her on edge and flexed her fingers, trying to gauge why that was. Other than sneaking up on her, which still irked her. But she had whistled to warn her, at least.

"Oh, I just can't wait to see what's down here," Seku said, rubbing her hands together and grinning gleefully, as the code breaker finally beeped and the long unused access door opened with a creak.

"You mean besides Sith spawned ghouls and a crazy mystic of some sort," Alex asked, checking to see that his lightsabers were still attached to his belt. A sharp whistle caused him to pause, turning his head left and right in an attempt to locate the source of the sound.

"Do we have company," Seku whispered, her right hand resting on the butt of her holstered blaster as the sound caught her attention.

"I'm beginning to wonder," Alex replied. "That didn't exactly sound like a bird."

"Well...how do we play this if we aren't alone?"

"You tell me," Alex answered. "This whole thing is your idea. I'm here against my better judgement."

"Truthfully, I wasn't expecting to find anyone else here. It could complicate things."

"We're alone for the moment, but keep your eyes peeled and your ears open."

"Follow me, Champ," Seku called, as she cautiously entered the access door. "Into the depths of galactic knowledge and history."

Oceiros of Shor | Satoshi

"Sato." He greeted calmly as he eyed the device. Once the explanation was keyed in, Aro accepted it with a nod and slid it into one of the many utility bags attached to his uncomfortable body-armor. It wasn't exactly his favorite get-up. But apparently his usual noir trenchcoat did well with rainy alleys and dive bars, but less so for potential combat situations.

Fair.

"You'd think we would be used to it by now." Aro remarked as he pulled out his cigarettes and offered his colleague one. "Then again, he always has the uncanny ability to show up right as we talk about him."

Wearily Aro looked around.

The fact he wasn't standing right next to them yet, didn't mean that would continue to be the case if they blinked once too many.

"Anyway, how have you been holding up, last assignment was a mess but hopefully this one will be better, eh?"

As it turned out, senior officer blowhard wasn't just a senior officer, but a lieutenant, and the ten contractors going through their standardized preparations were all in his dispatch. TD-1343. The lieutenant sulked off to speak with one of the sergeants, leaving Oceiros free to greet his favorite people.​

Even if the feeling wasn't mutual. He came up behind Harcrow and Satoshi. "Hey, hey, Cocktail," he clapped him on the shoulder, "What's shaking? Satoshi, how's…"​

​

The shorak's eyes fell on Satoshi and - noting his distinctly displeased expression - his eyebrows elevated. "Someone get killed already?"​

​

"Alright, listen up," TD-1343 took the center of the room, datapad in hand. Whatever muted chatter was taking place died quickly, "Kickoff for the whole operation is in three minutes. Probes say this module is crawling with rogue droids. Decommission on sight. No civilians are present in the whole segment. Weapons are free."​

​

Oh man. Weapons were never free with these guys. But that's the Silver Shield Group for you. Droids aren't people, no matter how well they simulate it. The Group's ethics committee considered shooting them to have about the same moral weight as shooting, like… A fridge.​

​

Oceiros wasn't quite sure how he felt about that. Not good, sure. But they didn't have him on the team to think about things.​

​

TD-1343 flicked the pad, scrolling up the contents, "Fireteam Magna will proceed to local generator Delta 31. Droids are keeping it running somehow and are dependent on its operation. Shut it down and they'll be forced to pull deeper into the segment."​

​

Part of a wider strategy of driving the droids into the segment. Oceiros read the report. Scanned it in his brain before he left his apartment on Denon.​

​

"Subcons," TD-1343 continued, and Oceiros perked up, because that was him and his two buddies, "Are to proceed to the vault on the same level. We don't have a log on the contents. Guild wants it anyway. Presumed to be inert artifacts. Should be safe to handle. Scout the route and keep it secure until the extraction team is ready to come through."​

CL-8675 shuffled from one foot to the other. "I thought that was our job?"​

​

"Was your job, yeah. Something's come up. Fireteam Aphra - you're heading to the maintenance tunnels. Some probe picked up movement but nothing else. Something snuck out or in. Check if there's a breach and call it in."​

​

Hell yeah, man. Nothing like a breach to spice things up. He rubbed his hands. "Sounds like a party. When can we roll?"​

​

"Now. Subcons first," TD-1343 gestured with the datapad towards the waiting blastdoors, like directing a tourist. "Fireteam Magna will be behind you most of the way. Stay sharp."​
