FINAL DAWN
SELVARIS, WILD SPACE

While the Jedi and their allies pressed their attack upon the Final Dawn Listening Post, a Squadron of Neo-Imperial Warships laid in orbit of Selvaris, carrying out a routine patrol over the Jungle Planet. These warships were accompanying the notorious Final Dawn Elite Starfighter Squadron known as the Crimson Linings, who had been deployed into the Maw Corridor after a Minor Jedi Incursion over Foerost a while ago. The Crimson Linings and their accompanying warships made up the Final Dawn's first line of defense against any sort of incursions into the Corridor and soon they would go up against their first major challenge.

Inside the bridge of the FDS Revenge,
Captain Polinsky was in the middle of a conversation of Colonel Rackham, who had informed him of the ongoing Jedi-led assault on the nearby Final Dawn Listening Post. "So, the Jedi have decided to make their move, and directly against the Final Dawn no less." Polinsky said reiterating what Rackham had told him. "That is correct. We expect more strikes across the Corridor, but so far the Listening Post seems to be their primary target." the Colonel responded "Since the Crimson Linings are the closest units available, the High Regent himself wants you and Vonreg to lead the counter-attack." Rackham added. "Understood, Colonel Rackham. I will see to it that the Jedi Strike Force is intercepted and annihilated as soon as possible." Polinsky proclaimed.

Meanwhile, outside the Revenge a group of Final Dawn TIE Hunters in were carrying out their routine inspection, flying all around the gathered fleet while maintaining formation. As they passed one of the Star Destroyers, the lead TIE Hunter, piloted by none other then Wilhelm Vonreg was soon contacted by the Revenge sent by none other then Polinsky himself. "Revenge to Crimson Leader, finish your inspection, we've just received new orders from the High Regent himself." Polinsky said. Soon enough, the TIE Hunters were on their way back to the Revenge, safely reaching the the ventral hangars of the large Final Dawn Star Destroyer.

After disembarking from his TIE Hunter, Baron Vonreg made his way towards the bridge of the Star Destroyer where Captain Polinsky was waiting for him, his hands clasped behind his back, which in turn was facing the Baron. "Ah, welcome back Baron Vonreg." Polinsky said as he turned around to face the Ace Pilot. "Thank you, Captain." Vonreg responded. "We've just received new orders from the High Regent himself through his Aide, Colonel Rackham." Polinsky began. Underneath his helmet the Baron smiled, finally he thought, perhaps now they would see real action after weeks of little action during their constant patrols across the Maw Corridor.

"Apparently, a Jedi Strike Force has launched an attack against one of our listening posts, only one jump-point away from our current position. More strikes across the Maw Corridor are anticipated although for now repelling the current attack is our priority." Polinsky continued. "The Jedi, you say? The High Regent surely knows how to put us up for a challenge. I assume he wants us to wipe out the Jedi Strike Force?" Vonreg inquired. "Affirmative, that or at least preventing the destruction of the Listening Post." Polinsky replied. "We can't afford to look weak in the eyes of either the Alliance and the Maw, especially at this time."

Vonreg smirked underneath his helmet as Polinksy spoke before replying. "When have i ever failed the High Regent. If he wants me to eliminate the Jedi, then that's what i'll do." the Baron said before turning around and leaving the bridge. Once Vonreg left the bridge, Polinsky returned to his original position and issued a new order. "Set course for Listening Post I-946 and have only the Edict and Fidelity follow suit. As for the rest of the Fleet, keep them here above Selvaris just incase the GADF tries to pull off any sort of incursion there." the Captain proclaimed.

Soon enough, the FDS Revenge, FDS Edict and the
FDS Fidelity entered into hyperspace leaving the rest of the fleet to stand guard over Selvaris, while the three warships would move in to intercept the Jedi Strike Force and put a quick end to their raid once and for all.

<"You mean dyad Jasper? it's harder to form than you think, deep connections are needed for such a thing to be achievable">

< I dunno. Just thought it sounded cool. I'm a mechanic, not a force-expert. Though I'm not ruling us out of the deep connection qualifications. I think that 'brothers in arms' could be just as deep and impactful as any other bond. Probably. >

He was more just spit-balling at this point. It certainly didn't help how little he knew about the topic. Maybe he'd have to ask Val sometime...

<Using a Battle Meditation in case anyone is feeling lost or wanting to push to do more damage against the Sith.>

<< Right on. Keep yourself moving then. They'll focus on you if word gets out. >>

There was certainly a risk to utilizing meditation in such a battle, but then again it seemed like the dyad between Valery and Kahlil had it's own risks if Kat's word had truth to it. It was all a risk in the end of the day. That was part of the job. It wasn't long before Silas asked about the bombers.

< Looks like they peeled off to assist with that star destroyer. We've got some time to kill. Cover me, would ya? I'm gonna see if I can't take the outpost's defenses offline. >

Soon, Jasper was diving towards the listening outpost, weaving through and tearing apart Maw fighters as he went. The station was a decent size, sporting three turbolasers for anti-air. There was no doubt military grade deflector shields and ion-defusal equipment securing the base from assault as well, along side the starfighters stationed at it. Jasper weaved through their fire, targeting them with his onboard computer and firing three of his four mag pulse warheads. The guns were down, if only for a limited time. That meant that focus could shift to wearing down the post's shield generator.

<< Guns are down. If you have any proton torpedoes on board, feel free to send them to the listening post. >>

Pretty soon, Jasper was swinging back around to rejoin the fray. It would be a moment before his proton torpedoes were ready, after having just sent off his mag pulse warheads at least. In the meantime, he'd hang back and cover Kat. Keeping the battle meditation and, of course, it's practitioner in the air was a priority.

<Couldn't ask for a better one.>

Valery grinned and joined Kahlil in the perfectly synched dance to reach the small star destroyer that had decided to interfere with their efforts. It was as natural and effortless as any other mundane task, but she still kept her focus entirely on flying, trusting Bee to handle weapons and power management along the way. He didn't disappoint. As enemy fighters swarmed around them to defend the larger vessel, cannons and cluster missiles ripped straight through them, offering Kahlil the path he needed to target the pocket star destroyer.

'I did it, I did it!'

Valery chuckled at Bee's excitement and watched as Kahlil drew on their bond and his specialized ship all at once to wreak havoc within the enemy hangar. To make matters worse for the enemy, Valery took the opportunity to unleash a volley of cannon fire towards the exit, catching the few fighters that were managing to slip through the chaos in the process. Then they were both off again — both Kahlil and Valery diving away from the explosion for a new attack run.

But a call for some assistance drew her attention elsewhere.

[Nobles, would you mind if my bomber buddies tag along for a moment?] Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor requested, and Valery immediately opened up her comms.

<We'll cover them, Master Vanagor,> Valery assured him before she addressed Bee. <You heard it, buddy. Use the missiles for large groups and cannons for small ones. Let's keep those bombers covered,> Valery said as she joined up with Kahlil to provide cover and still pressure the enemy ship. Bee would keep her shields and engines powered just right, her bond with her husband would make targeting them very difficult, and together with Bee, she'd pick off enemy targets.

The augmentation through Kat Decoria Kat Decoria 's Battle Meditation was just the cherry on top she was planning to use for her next attack run.

<Bee, load up a Shadow bomb. The Hangar is weakened, so I'll guide it inside with the Force to deal more internal damage,> Valery then said, and now it was her turn to draw on her bond and fall into the Force. With the Jedi Shadow bomb away, she manipulated its trajectory and aimed to get it inside the pocket star destroyer through its damaged hangar and blow even more of it apart.

But as important as it was to target this vessel, she really hoped Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el and Silas Westgard Silas Westgard were able to take down that listening post. That was ultimately the most important goal, and once completed, their group of small craft could easily escape with quick jumps and hit other targets if desired.

LISTENING POST DEFENSES
Listening Post | [100|067]

Starfighter Squadrons :

Despite the Disciple's deployment of it's entire Air Wing, a small group of Jedi Fighters were still able to reach the Listening Post, proceeding to launch a first attack run. In response, the Listening Post's Turbolasers and Laser Cannons unleashed a heavy barrage of firepower, managing to take out several starfighters before the three main Turbolasers were disabled by Jasper's X-Wing. Despite this minor setback however, three of the six remaining operational laser canons opened fire upon Jasper's X-Wing hoping to atleast deal some significant damage as he pulled back.

"Ma'am, our primary turbolasers have been disabled." one of the weapons officers cried out. "Shield integrity is down to 67%" a defense officer added. "Where are those reinforcements" the security officer said to herself. At this point she was visibly anxious, as the Jedi attackers had bypassed her defenses and were slowly chipping away at her defenses. Unless she received any reinforcements, it would only be a matter of time until all of the Listening Post's defenses would be dismantled. "Get those turbolasers back online, quickly!" the security officer ordered in a panicked but restrained tone. "We can't let any of their bombers through"

As onboard technicians tried to get the primary turbolasers back online, the remaining six laser canons intensified their barrages of plasma fire, hoping to destroy any ship that tried to make any additional runs against the Listening post.

UI4ODIx.png
As the Listening Post struggled to fend off attacking Jedi Starfighters, the newly-deployed TIEs from the Disciple almost immediately faced heavy resistance from the attacking Jedi Starfighters, which began to slowly chip away at their numbers thanks to the superior skills of the Jedi Pilots. What made things worse was the attack carried out by Valery Noble and Kahlil Noble which caused a pileup that destroyed half of the last remaining squadron that had left the Disciple's Hangars which was followed by an attack that wiped out half of the survivors of the initial attack. However after the initial attacks from the Jedi, the TIEs quickly moved forth to launch their counter-attack.

As ordered by the Captain of the Disciple, the TIEs began converging on any Bombers along with their Escorts with groups of up to 6 TIEs launching devastating attack runs against individual bombers, aiming to give their foes a taste of their own medicine by slowly taking out their Bombers one by one just as the Jedi had done with them. Even though they were outmatched by the Jedi Pilots, their fanaticism and determination was enough to keep a significant amount of pressure upon the Jedi as they continued to harass their Bombers. Even if the Jedi were making progress, they wouldn't give them any respite, even for a second.

At the same time, as Caltin's groups of SJO X-Wings and Y-Wings began their attack run upon the Disciple, the Pocket Star Destroyer unleashed a concentrated heavy barrage of plasma fire from both their main batteries and the anti-starfighter weaponry, managing to take out a few of Silver Jedi Starfighters in the process. It was clear that the Final Dawn wasn't going to give up without a fight, even if their foes possessed an advantage over them. From the bridge of the Disciple, the captain smirked as he saw his warship's weapons unleash hell upon Caltin's fighters and bombers, confident that they would not reach their intended target, whatever that was. "These fools think they can challenge the might of the Final Dawn? Pathetic. Now it is time we crushed them with all our might." the Captain proclaimed. "Onwards! Glory to the Final D-"

Suddenly massive flash illuminated the battlefield as Valery Noble's Jedi Shadow Bomb hit it's mark inside the primary ventral hangar of the Disciple, sending a shockwave across the battlefield and violently shaking it's bridge to the point that it's Captain was thrown to the floor. While the Disciple wasn't outright destroyed, it was severely damaged to the point that it was now listing downwards towards it's starboard side. As the Captain got back on his two feet, he was speechless and in complete shock, how could this happen, he thought. "Our shields are down" a defensed officer cried out. "We're reporting severe hull damage on all levels." another defense officer added. "Our Starboard Engines are disabled, and our reactors have been compromised." another officer said. It was just sudden chaos, and such a blow was surely going to throw the remaining defenders in disarray giving the Jedi a temporary advantage over them. However with the Crimson Linings already on their way, they would need to strike fast and strike hard if they were going to emerge victorious.

"The bad news is time flies, the good new is you're the pilot" - Michael Althsuler

[“Did you see that?”]

[“That was CRAZY!”]

[Cut the chatter! They did their job, now we can do ours!]

They were on top of the targeting array as both Vanagor and “3” unloaded their “Mustafire” cluster missiles. This turned the array into shrapnel and a flaming sideshow as they flew over and past. That is when Caltin closed his S-foils and immediately picked up speed.

[“We running the rotaries?”] Asked 4.

[I am, you guys stick to your “Feenix” torpedoes. I tank, you spank… let’s see if we can help “Green” out!]

[“You got it, Master!”] Barked “2”.

Entering his attack run, Caltin did indeed draw fire from both ship-based anti-starfighter weaponry as well as incoming TIEs. He was hit three times. BB-55 complained about damage in the left engine, but assured it was nominal.

[5’s Lock it down and get it back up and running as soon as you can.]

He drew the attention long enough for the other X-wing’s payloads to drop, which allowed the Y-wings to not only take down the Starboard array of cannons with their own rotaries but drop their payloads of Proton bombs onto the huge generators setting them ablaze.

Lined up for a shot, the big guy unloaded a long burst on the Star Destroyer’s auxiliary generators. The slugthrower may not do the level of damage on its own to destroy those behemoth systems, but the Cluster missiles coming in from behind will certainly do a lot to help. Passing up the downed generators, the pilots of “Blue Squadron'' came out of the stern section of the ship intact.

[Hey Greens! Are you ready?]

[“On your six!’]

[“Lead us in!”]

[Alright then! Thanks, Masters Noble.] Switching stations back to his own for a moment [Greens 7 and 8 target that stations C&C, 4 and 5 hit their comms 2 and 3… Ion the crap out of them and then…]

[“G-Damm?”]

[G-Damm… Blues… let’s finish their defenses and their comm array. Let’s not let them call in any more than what they probably already did.]

Things were progressing smoothly. Somewhat. Something on the back of his mind signaled danger, that constant feeling that something unknown was still lurking. Waiting to strike. Better to not give them a chance to. His hands went back to the controls as Valery's bomb detonated on target. He rolled from some of the enemy TIEs, lighting them up in the process as his ship continued to swerve in impossible ways.

At least for a little bit. The bombers launched their missiles, and his attention instead turned towards their target. No shields, no engines. Time to make it hurt.

Kahlil raised a hand. Closed his eyes. Reached for the binds around the star destroyer. And pulled. Key systems would be exposed as he ripped open the hull. Just large enough for the missiles to slip in and deal that much more damage.

Surveying their surroundings, X-wing weaving and swirling through cannon fire, BB-610's optic remained fixed on the enemy vessels, photoreceptors never once letting them out of his sight with pinpoint accurate coordinates hastily fed into their targeting computer and keeping them directly on the incoming TIE/fds. Keeping their shields stabilized against the tailend of TIE fighter blasts, the TIE fighters spread thin, dancing around the X-wing as cannon after cannon screech with deafening firepower. Seizing this opportunity, BB-610 opted to initiate a game of cat and mouse, inviting them to inch closer and closer without the X-wing's cannons focused on them, as though the droid were playing into the Maw's desperation by feigning a malfunction.

Of course, that was hardly the case. He was simply biding his time, waiting patiently for the enemy starfighters to dip and congregate. Missiles primed once more, BB-610's utility arm emerged - not for anything serious, mind you. It was merely to playfully wave 'goodbye' to the four TIE/fds, as the X-wing's cluster missiles are launched in the blink of an eye, blasting through two of the Mawite fighters with another satisfying BWOOSH, having lined them up to spiral into the last two remaining TIE/fds with an accompanying explosion of earpiercing steel colliding into each other.

Content with this outcome, the X-wing's cannons promptly settle on the array of TIE fighters hurdling towards the bombers. Re-directing power to their armaments, BB-610 snaked his fire along their trajectory, tearing into them one by one, destruction reverbing after a chain of five devastating explosions. As two additional TIE fighters homed in on Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor , the droid steadied another set of missiles, blasting through them just as they had primed their cannons.

<Bee, load up a shadow bomb. The hangar is weakened, so I'll guide it inside with the Force to deal more internal damage.>

Chirping affirmatively, BB-610 readied their shadow bomb, loading it up with a tha-thunk that would have given him goosebumps had he been organic. Firing it within the depths of space, he left Valery to her devices, guiding it with the Force and socketing it within the hanger for a shock-inducing explosion, its glorifying weight felt throughout all ships present as a flurry of discharges are ignited across the Disciple's hull.

Resuming fire against the onslaught of TIEs, BB-610's heightened scans picked up on even more encroaching vessels. Signal enhancer boosting its range, BB-610 bweeped nervously, telling her that he's detected an incoming elite starfighter squadron.

There was a flash in front of Khione as one of the enemy Y-wings exploded in a crackling of secondary bursts as its munitions cooked off. They were the enemy but the spacer in her was glad the crew were likely killed instantly. However, this was no time to mourn her enemy, she banked hard and korigan turned her starfighter out of arc of an opponent in order to pounce back on them, the agility array made her ship phenomenally maneuverable and her foes were seeing that. She did not complete the turn but the array cut her engines automatically at he commands, leaving he fighter flying backwards at several hundred metres per second. The enemy pride to pursue her engines, as per dogfighting doctrine but realised just too late that she had him in his sites and ripped the incoming xwing apart in a flurry of disruptor blasts, before rolling her nose back onto her velocity and accelerating again.

"oorweldigende getalle Khione, ons moet borg" came a crackling message through her communicator, she felt it too, a sense of dread, nagging at her from the void, but the force sensitive pilot shook her head and cleared herself. "Dit is 'n Jedi-truuk, bly bestendig! hou jou vleuelmaat dop!" Her face scrunched up as she saw that pilot's ping go dead, one of her family lost in space while he was distracted by some karking Jedi.

Angrily she spin round her craft and descended on two xwings, she was lucky to be in the craft she was as the telltale popping of her anti-missile countermeasures indicated someone had tried to tag her, she took out another x-wing while deploying her pink vapour in a cloud behind her, the pink was just a name, and clouds of laser absorbing green power appeared behind her, keeping her safe from the enemy on her tail while one of her cleared the bogey.

Khione was an amazing pilot, her family were amazing pilots, but they were marauders, not soldiers, the Jedi and their allies were exacting a heavy price on her forces, of her original 16 squadron members, two were destroyed and four had been forced to withdraw. The Final Dawn too were taking significant losses including one of their destroyers that had been ripped open by a rather impressive bit of strategy.

The Battle Meditation seemed to be going well. The other starfighters were all more working in sync, moving as if they could all read each other's mind. Kat always enjoyed the fact that she could how effective and when her Battle Meditation was working because there was such a drastic difference in how the battle shifted quite drastically. Shorty was blaring away that they needed to focus on keeping a good distance and ensuring that no opposition got too close. There was also the mention that if Kat had even thought a little ahead that she should have gone with the Infiltrator N-Wing since then they could have cloaked and ensured that they were not at risk of being attacked, or at least lowered the risk to them.

"Hindsight is 20/20 Shorty. Maybe something to remember in future, eh!" Kat replied as she stayed focused on the Battle Meditation, she needed to ensure that the attacks that were working on the ship weren't just devastating and effective but that the enemies aboard and around felt the fear, dread and demoralisation facing the Jedi starfighters. It was great to ensure that everyone on their side maintained positive and bold attitudes but Kat needed to do more, she needed to ensure the enemy lost the motivation, the will to fight, that would ensure a stronger victory and even lead to the Maw to be more hesitant when fighting them in the future.

That was the aim at least. "Shorty, we got any fighters on us?" Kat asked as she started to move the ship, she could sense something coming but wasn't too sure where from since she was so focused on keeping the Battle Meditation going strong. Shorty whirled some short replies and guided her around to avoid the incoming fire as Kat felt her stomach lurch from the sharp moves. "Please don't make me barf Shorty!" Kat pleaded with a laugh.
