  The new Fulger-Class Escort Corvette embodies The High Republic’s protective stance with its lack of heavy weaponry, leaving it more suited to escort and interception than strike missions. Featuring heavy armor and a multitude of point defense systems, the Fulger is well suited to shooting down incoming missiles and fighters. During combat, the command bridge can be retracted into the hull, sealing away a vulnerable weak point.
  
  A posting to one of these ships tempers young officers, not only must they harden their nerves and trust to their defenses, they must learn to place themselves between danger and their allies. Both protecting them, and being protected by them from enemy capital ships, strengthening the bond and trust of navel commanders. The flexibility offered by the combination of weapons and a small hanger also lends itself well to clever captains undertaking irregular missions.
  
  The ship itself was kept small and simple enough to easily manufacture. Not only to keep costs down, but to allow the smaller yards in The High Republic the ability to bid on contracts as part of a revitalization campaign following the planeshift and destruction of hyperspace routs.
