DESCRIPTION
The SE-140 Tactical Shield Module is the first step of Starchaser Enterprises entering the larger starship modification business. The SE-140 is a shield module that is controlled, either manually or by a virtual intelligence to help mitigate damage to a ship’s shield screen. The SE-140 is designed to assist in enhancing and hardening shields, providing enhanced protection. This module is controlled to change its status, from projectile to energy to explosive protection and enhances a section of shield. As it is controlled, it can only be as good as the person or system controlling it, however, it can only be used to enhance a shield against one damage type at a time.

The shield types offered by this Strengthener focuses around the major damage dealing weapons including kinetic damage, heat damage, and electromagnetic damage, to help mitigate rail gun projectiles, laser fire, and masers.

If I were to relate this to the Resistances field in an armor submission, or the defense field in a starship submission I guess, would this be a heightened rating (like rather than, say, Moderate defenses/shields overall, it becomes High against that one singular damage type) or more than just a single incremental increase to the shields?
 
So, its a tactical enhancer. What would happen in game mechanics is if you turn it on, you would bolster (or raise, I guess) the shield resistances against a particular damage would rise up but the shield overall strength would remain the same, just more focused. So a shield that has a moderate rating would keep a moderate rating, but during a battle, if the ship is getting hit by lasers, then the operator could boost the shield 0 overall to +1 against lasers and -1 against bullets
