First the destruction of Csilla, then on the entire deck of the NIV Confidence, Ingrid opened dozens of Netherworld rifts to save everyone on board. Whether that had anything to do with it probably didn't, but Csilla's destruction was part of the events, yes. However, the actual events took place shortly after the Empress’s return home after her captivity. Something happened that opened dozens of Hypergates and other gates and rifts into the Netherworld across the Galaxy.

Of course, such an event could not have been ignored. That is why the Empress and the STRATCOM reacted almost immediately.

Bakura; In the history of the Eternal Empire, this planet reappears over and over again and with almost never a pleasant event. The present one wasn't pleasant either, as one of the Hypergates opened in this place.

The Netherworld is not unknown to the Eternal Empire, as there are countless necromancers among the Wardens, but due to what is happening now, no one knows what to expect in the Nether. That’s why STRATCOM is sending a group of volunteers to Netherworld (probably the Rebels are doing the same) to explore this world and find out what’s causing the events.

The events are so troublesome that the Rebels are granted amnesty until the danger is averted, they can move freely in the Empire as long as they also fight the danger.

Objectives

Objective 1: New Base
QVuAjUq.png
The areas beyond the gate are unknown to almost everyone, most of them don’t even know what they expect in the Netherworld. Thus, one of the most important is that a base must be built and properly defended so that later all Eternal Imperial military and scientific expeditions and operations can be directed from here. Those who undertake this task, they have to help the engineers work to build the base and protect the site from possible attacks if necessary.

Objective 2: Exploration
8D19thM.png
Netherworld is a huge area, much of which is unknown to everyone, so a very large area needs to be explored and mapped. All of this is of paramount importance, both militarily and strategically, as they need to know what they are facing here. Last but not least, what plants and animals are found here from a scientific point of view. This is why many interesting events can take place here that can also decide the issue of life and death in this place.

Objective 3: Emergency Meeting
RN3WAsp.png
Neither the Imperial Court nor STRATCOM remained idle, and the Imperial Assembly was convened almost immediately after the wake of the events to discuss the situation at Kalidan. All barons, baronesses, high military leaders, and leaders and delegates of other factions belonging to the Empire are also welcome. Although the Empress cannot be present in person because she personally leads the Empire in the Netherworld, she is also present through a communication channel.

Objective 4: BYOO
6aVVw7F.png
In addition to these, countless other possibilities awaits everyone, personal stories and there is an entire hex worth of stories to be told. Have fun in any way that you please!

Homecoming. At least for Ingrid, that was it. For since Byss's invasion, the woman has been part of the Netherworld, thanks to her torn apart her soul and left-behind her soulshard in the Nether while she was dead. She was among the first to cross Hypergate; it was weird to travel that way, it wasn’t too natural for her. If she opened a gate, rift, or just slipped through it herself, that was normal, but not this. Because of the incident, she didn’t even allow her son to come back here, not until they had no explanation to the situation.

After arriving, she was "greeted" by the usual feeling, feeling all the soulshards of her dead husband, everything was in the usual place. However, now she felt something else, the presence of something else that had not been present before. Was it this presence that caused all this? She thought it conceivable, especially that it was all unpleasant. It was a pleasant experience for her to be stronger in this place than in Realspace, at least in her present state, because otherwise there is no difference.

In any case, the woman did not want to supervise the construction of the base as this place was home to her, so she decided to go out with a team and refused to accept STRATCOM’s protest either. So she also joined the reconnaissance team. In the meantime, she was also in contact with the Imperial Assembly through a communication channel to attend the convened meeting. Both were important events, they could not be ranked.

Ingrid signalled her team with military hand signs to scatter, she, too, marched forward the wilderness, watching the area with scanners and the Force. Meanwhile, she also gave a short brief to those on the Kalidan on the communication channel.

<"Construction of the base has begun and the first exploration troops are on their way. For now, everything is normal and there is no clue as to who or what caused it all.">

It was hard to miss that these hypergates suddenly appeared. It was all over the holo-news. Hypergates to the Netherworld, one of which sat at Bakura. That planet was a part of many horrible events, so it came at no surprise that a gate similar to a rift would be there.

Lori felt compelled to go. An announcement was made that amnesty was temporarily granted to the Rebels during this time, and although she wasn't really a part of them anymore, pushed out because of their utter disappointment in her among other things. Despite all of that, the warrants for her arrest and/or death still remained. Yet at this moment that was put on hold. She was free to enter their space.

Arla wouldn't take no for an answer when it came to coming with her to Bakura and to pass through the gate. But scientific research, building a base, even the whole Netherworld event and what was causing it didn't interest her. That wasn't what was bringing her here. Lori wanted to see if she could find her Mom. No doubt she didn't become one with the Force like her Dad did, for her Mom held so much pain inside. There was a time that she was at peace, yet that seemed to be before her Dad had gone Dark. After that there was no recovery.

Isn't the Netherworld where troubled souls went? Bakura was sure to be where her Mom could be. That planet was special to her, maybe even moreso than Commenor. But what things were like in the Netherworld, she didn't know. Even Arla didn't know.

"Remember your promise. Three days. That's all that we can spare right now."

"I know, I know...."

"And if it gets too dangerous, I am obligated to pull you back." Arla's grip was like a vice, not to mention bruise inducing. Getting dragged around by her wasn't pleasant, so Lori had done her best to avoid it and listen to her co-pilot and bodyguard. "And you have your own obligations to go back to."

"I know. And Cae's not going to like any of this. But I want to try to find her. I can't pass this up." What's dead was dead. That was the impression that she got from Caedyn Arenais . He wouldn't try to find their Mom. It wasn't like Lori wanted to bring her back from the dead or anything, but it had been so long since she had seen either of her parents. Her own connection to the Force wasn't very strong, outside of when she she needed her balls of Light. That was the only skill that she had confidence in. She couldn't reach out to her Dad or figure out how the holocron worked if ever she got a hold of it. This was about all that she could do to at least maybe get into contact with one of them.

Both Lori and Arla walked in the line with members of the Eternal Empire to pass through the gate. Both wore packs carrying food, water, first aid kits, weapons and spare clothing. Lori also carried her bow and quiver.

Hopefully this journey was going to be a successful one.

Never had Velexia imagined that she would ever venture into Hell before her time was up.

The diminutive, pink-skinned Qilin was stricken with a cocktail of contrasting emotions, awe, fear, wonder, and despair. Only hours before, she had walked through the Bakura Hypergate with her sisters and found herself transported to an arcane plane of existence, a place where lost and tortured souls ventured, perhaps seeking rest or even a path back to life. While Velexia was not attuned to the energies of the Force, she felt as if she could sense their restlessness, wherever they may be. Nevertheless, in spite of her own anxieties, Velexia maintained her focus, ever aware, disciplined, and precise, as she had been bred to be.

Perhaps owing to good performance during their recent missions on Vagar Praxut and the Codian Moon, the Siren Corps, still comprised of only ten women, had been trusted to escort the Empress directly on her expedition into the Netherworld, along with a team of a few others. In seeing the Empress on Vagar Praxut for the first time with her own mismatched eyes, Velexia had been immediately starstruck. Now, accompanying the Night Queen into Hell, the Qilin thought to pinch herself. More so, this duty was an honor, of which Velexia knew that all of her sisters would perform to the utmost of their capabilities and beyond. It almost went without saying that she was of the same mind as them, cast and molded from the same clay, that which made loyal, relentless, and unflinching soldiers.

Upon processing the Empress’ hand signs, the Sirens moved immediately to form a perimeter, spreading out as they did. So far, the expedition had gone relatively smoothly, but the wastes of the Netherworld held many dangers, of those dead, alive, artificial, and others lingering somewhere in between in various states of undeath.

“So far, nothing to report yet, Empress.” Velexia said over general comms. “But...I get the feeling that we’re not...wanted here.” She continued, her tone wavering slightly as the words left her lips.

“Bugs in the system.” Kasari added, somewhat omniously.

<"I apologize for interrupting your excellent inspiring speech, Fleet Admiral Lorell, but we are not at war with anyone at the moment. Currently, data would be needed on whether there are rifts elsewhere and, if so, what action the Barons and Baronesses of the planet are taking. Administrative data on which planet, in which city, how much force can be deployed."> she said on the comm. channel.

She was interested in these at the moment. The inspiring speech comes after it when it’s time for a fight. And if someone openly shows their fear of the present situation, they did not deserve their military or noble position.

In the meantime, of course, she also paid attention to what was out here at Netherworld. For now, it's just a deserted wilderness, nothing more. Dried plants, sandy, stony soil, wind as far as the eye can see. It was no different from the places one might see in Realspace. She watched as the Sirens tried to map the area instead. Ingrid immediately tried to contact some of the creatures here as soon as they arrived. Because of her condition, she wasn’t sure if she was successful or not.

<"Netherworld is a strange and whimsical place. There are places that are friendly, other places are deserted, there are also cities here, not to mention really hellish places. I feel the presence of something that caused this. But this is an unknown force to me, an unknown power or entity. I'm not sure about its intention yet, but yes in many areas the living are not really wanted here…"> she explained.

As the Empress looked around again toward the south, black smoke and shadows appeared on the horizon. Ingrid immediately got to know them; they came at her call. She already knew she was still able to send messages in this place. And now she needed the help of her own servants.

<"Hold your fire! Those are our allies!"> she nodded her head at the approaching shadows.

Objective: Prepare the medical ward and get out
Tags: N Nyxeris
"Bring in all the supplies, hurry. I don't want to be in this cursed place longer than necessary."

Taozi sighed as she began unpacking a crate of medical supplies. While Taozi loathed it, working for the Empire provided good money, especially when the job took her and her clan into the Netherworld, it seemed. A shiver went down her spine, and she felt as though a thin veil of oil was washing over her the longer she stayed in the Nether.

"This is no place for the living."

The Clan Tal members in the Medical Ward nodded in agreement, and quickened their pace. Those sensitive to the Force seemed to be just as, if not more, uncomfortable as Taozi. A Realm of the Dead opening itself to the Living was an ominous sign. A sign none of the Mandalorians wanted to think too much about.

Objective: BYOO

It was odd to step in through the gate. The air around them seemed to ripple and what was on the other side felt like cold static, and dread....

Lori swallowed as she gazed, her pace slowing down a little while her eyes took in this new...universe of the dead. It felt strange, sounded strange, smelled strange and looked strange. Everything about it was odd and unnatural. And of course she didn't feel as though she belonged. She was tresspassing in every sense of the word, yet she couldn't leave just yet. Not without trying to look for her.

Arla and Lori broke off from the line, picking a direction that seemed less inconspicuous. Yet their walk didn't go very far before they spotted N Nyxeris breaking off from a bunch of people ahead of them and headed right towards them. For a moment Lori thought that she was done for; maybe the amnesty was a trap. However the woman didn't seem to recognize her at all and merely....offered them a greeting?

"Uh....yeah...thanks. If one could even feel welcome here." Lori paused in uncomfortable silence for a moment before adding. "Did we forget to pay a toll or something?"

“Alert! Contacts ahead! They’re...shadows?” Velexia said, a question in her tone as she raised her SMG, looking closely at the approaching cluster of black smoke and shadowy figures. The other Sirens did the same, hyper-aware and wary as soldiers were, yet nevertheless disciplined and restrained. The diminutive Qilin could feel her heart thump in her chest as she gazed across the expansive wastes, sweat beading on her brow as she waited for a signal, whether to fire or to relent. Fortunately, it came rather quickly, as the Empress’ authoritative voice cut through the comms. Immediately, the Sirens stood down, lowering their weapons, yet still maintaining a defensive perimeter for security.

“Yes, Empress!” Silara, the Sirens’s squad leader answered. “Sirens, stand down!” She called out. “Maintain a perimeter and keep your eyes open.” The woman continued. "Velexia, send your seeker ahead to scout."

Lowering her weapon, Velexia took a deep breath and got onto her left knee as she began to prepare her seeker droid. While the revelation that the shadows were allies didn’t assuage her discomfort at being here, at the very least, she was glad that the first thing that she ran into in the Netherworld wasn’t immediately out to kill her.

Moments later, Velexia finished activating the droid and the
seeker took off, hovering into the wastes to see what lied in wait within the ostensibly unpleasant dimension of Oblivion.

"Seeker is away!"

Commands were issued on Kalidan, which was great. Then all she needed was the data she knew would last a long time, since the Empire had gained quite a large area lately. In fact, the Eternal Empire has doubled its territory since Ingrid led it, and even more than doubled. Plenty of new planets have joined, or they have "acquired" it themselves.

<"Fleet Admiral, first gather information regarding whether there is a hyper gate elsewhere, this is the most important thing. We need to be prepared for them to open elsewhere. We must secure all rifts and gates on both sides. This is the top priority.">

She glanced at Velexia, then back at the shadows that were approaching. Still, she couldn't say they came from the same species that Ingrid was now; well, exactly eight of thirteen, the other five were different. Ingrid was still keeping it a secret, though because of what happened aboard the NIV Confidence, quite a few people already knew the red-haired woman wasn't human anymore.

<"Kind of, yes. Demons, in my service."> she explained. <"The sirens let's continue reconnaissance while I talk to the Knights and the Claws. You can stay if you want.">

The shadows arrived a few minutes later, there were thirteen of them. When they came here, instead of smoke, they took on their own form, eight knights and five other creatures not very pleasant to see. They all fell to half their knees in front of Ingrid at once and lowered their heads. The woman would have spoken to them before, but she didn't have the strength to summon them because they had all returned to the Nether during her one-year captivity.

<"I need your help!"> she told them.

Just as the diminutive Siren turned away from her seeker, a ping registered in her HUD, indicating that the droid had ceased flight or in some way malfunctioned. Beneath her helmet, Velexia’s mismatched eyes went wide in confusion. All the while, she was met with the sight of shadows taking shape, that of knights in black armor and cabalistic sorcerers, prostrating themselves before the Empress in a display of reverence. In witnessing such arcane, powerful beings kneeling down in front of her, Velexia found that she could only stare in stupefied awe. There were those who worshipped the Empress as a Goddess, which the Qilin had thought to be rather silly. However, in seeing such seemingly divine entities submit to her almost as a slave would a master, Velexia began to think that perhaps, worshipping her wasn’t so crazy.

To the eyes of a mere mortal watching a group of ostensibly living Gods surrender to the Empress, the natural conclusion was that Ingrid was a Goddess herself and quite a powerful one at that.

Nevertheless, Velexia reset her focus before and turned away from the scene to fulfill her duty. Kicking into a jog, she moved to pick up her fallen seeker droid, which had landed over 100 meters away from her original position. In order to get there quicker, Velexia activated her propulsion system, only to feel it mysteriously cut out, sending her back down to the ground before she could even get three feet above the surface. Giving a frustrated grunt, Velexia picked up her pace to compensate for the setback. Moments later, she finally reached the unit, immediately picking it up to examine the frame. Unfortunately, Velexia found no answers as to what could have gone wrong, other than the damage the droid had sustained owing to the impact of the fall.

Shrugging her shoulders, Velexia decided to send it off once more, tapping a button on her forearm as she did.

Only for the droid to fall to the ground, again, just as she turned around to head back towards the Empress.

A deep, exasperated sigh released from her lips, but Velexia nevertheless tried again, only for the same thing to happen again.

N Nyxeris must be new. That was all that she could surmise that would fit. Why else would she be greeting her in an almist warm fashion? And friendly? This was not the treatment that she was used to around them. By rights she should be arrested or shot on sight for supposed acts of terrorism, but the amnesty prevented that. So she was no longer suspect for the time being.

"Lori." She didn't give out her full name as she lightly shook her hand, not relaying any kind of trust in her. The Eternal Empire had lay traps for her before and she didn't feel like being ensnared in one again.

"My purpose is my own. It has nothing to do with anyone here but myself as it's personal in nature. There's nothing against that, now is there?" The last thing that she needed was for the Empire to interfere with her family again. This could be her only shot to venture into the Netherworld in this particular space and she wasn't going to waste it.

Most of Ingrid's people were religious, but she never believed in any deity. She always thought there were no gods, only powerful Force Users, just like Adrian thought as well. She heard rumours that the Ewok considered her the Night Queen on Endor and many Valkyrja revered her as a goddess because she was the one who created the species. But it was just science, nothing more. And Endor… well, she never wanted the power and might of the Night Spirit.

So far, no response has been received from Fleet Admiral, though this was to be expected, as it may take longer to obtain the requested information. And she trusted that as soon as these were available to the woman, she would share them. So Ingrid pays her attention to the Shadow Knights and the Claws. She knew the conversation wouldn’t take long, the preparations all the more so.

<"What can we do for you, my Lord?"> asked one of the Claws.

<"During my captivity, the new Grand Admiral of the NIO poisoned me with a biological weapon, an organism that devoured almost all midi-chlorians in my body. It all recovers very slowly, I want you to speed up the healing and fix the caused damage. Are you able to do that?"> she said and asked in her usually cold and military voice.

Ingrid wasn't interested in power, it was bothering that she was physically weak and constantly felt herself sick, tired. It was hard to concentrate and do her job that way.

<"Yes, it can be solved, but we need to be prepared for it, it will probably take longer and it will be painful."> said the same one who had spoken before.

<"Great, we have a base to the north, there you can start the preparations, I will join you later.">

<"Yes, my Lord!"> they said at once and then got going towards the camp as a shadows.

<"Lady of Blood, this is L'lerim, a group of shadows will arrive at the camp soon, my people, don't hinder their work, give them everything they need."> sent a short message on a comm. channel to N Nyxeris .

She then set off in the direction of Velexia.

<"Is there any problem?"> she asked.

Hypergate Bakura: Netherworld Side
Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim | Velexia

Anomalies: Detected. Location: Grid Sector 17 - Aurek. Programming Dictates: Immediate Response.

The Manifold's burning eyes snapped open once again, staring through the terrain around them as they focused on a physically distant point. The Omni-drone had been observing the progress of the first major series of glitches (designation "Galactic Alliance") into the Droid God's holy workings, a position that had required them to be far across the Netherworld from where they had sensed this new intrusion. They had watched as these errors within the Great Work had spread out in the desert region surrounding Hypergate Velusia, disregarding their warnings to turn back. The organics were doing what they always did; planting their little banners and imagining themselves to be kings.

But mortals were not worthy of this realm. Only by accepting Omni's gifts could they become worthy.

Now, more anomalies were entering by a different gate. The Manifold would deliver to them the same warning as the others. Reaching out both physically and spiritually, the drone used their withered, machine-grafted hand to grasp the fabric of Oblivion itself. They were linked to Omni, the master and weaver of this realm, and they could sense the ebb and flow of the energies sustaining this pocket of the Netherworld. One day, when the Great Work was completed, all of reality would be like this: dictated by the will of the Machine Spirit, reduced to the binary code of is and is not according to Omni's whim. Chaos would be turned to order, and Oblivion would cover all of creation.

There would be no more pain, disorder, or uncertainty. Only a peaceful, controlled universe, running like clockwork.

But that would not come to pass if servants such as The Manifold failed in their duty to prevent disruptions to the Grand Design. The drone's orange eyes flickered as they folded space, flinging themself from the sandy wastes around Hypergate Velusia and traveling far into Oblivion's north. Energy shimmered all around them as the islands of the Netherworld raced by, each remaining placid and still while a torrential stream of energy bore The Manifold past them. It was beautiful... but the drone could not appreciate the beauty. They were single-minded in their purpose, their senses and cognitive processes drawn only to the things that would aid or hinder the Droid God's plans.

Most drones retained their personalities after being rewritten to serve Omni. The Manifold had never had a personality.

The tunnel of techno-Force energy dropped away, and The Manifold hovered out into a new biome. The wilderness around Hypergate Bakura consisted of rolling, lightly-wooded plains and jagged hills of rock and clay; they led east as far as the eye could see, away from the stark volcanic mountains to the west. Closer now, The Manifold could sense that this intrusion of anomalies was at least as serious as the first one. The new series of glitches was building permanent structures, some kind of forward base they no doubt intended to use to continue their unauthorized incursion into Omni's domain. That would not do at all. They would be warned. Then, they would be destroyed.

The drone sensed a powerful presence, strong in the Force, that had strayed from most others. A leader, perhaps?

The withered, corpse-like body of The Manifold, covered in cables and cybernetic grafts, drifted eerily forward, hovering low enough that their dangling feet gently brushed the grass. Emerging from amid the dark greens and browns of the otherworldly vegetation, they moved into sight of Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim and Velexia just as the Empress's shadows departed. They halted a respectful distance away, then held up a waxy hand, palm out. It was a universal gesture for 'stop'. "Your Presence: Unauthorized," the Omni-drone told the Empress, their voice flat and unfeeling. "Glitches: Not Permitted. To Pass: Become Rewritten. Serving Omni: Inevitable. Imperative: Submit."

Then The Manifold waited, watching the two women with their burning, unblinking cybernetic eyes...

Objective: Wonder why I'm the only Medic in the Empire, apparently
Tags: N Nyxeris
So far, knocking on wood, Taozi and the rest of her Clan had run into little issues. The Imperials were letting them do as they pleased, and the followers of this "Lady of Blood" paid them no mind either. The amount of trust Clan Tal had built up was not as well deserved as it should be, truly. Even as bottles of medicine were placed on shelves, and medical equipment powered on, the skin on Taozi's skin crawled.

"Let's hurry. I know we aren't getting much help from the Empire, but I want to get out of here within the next hour or two. Feels like walking through oil..."

"You know. Now that you mention it, Alor, why don't we ever see any Empire medics around? It's always just us."

Feng's words came as a shock to Taozi. Now that Taozi thought about it, her cousin was right, and her face contorted in thought. Why did they never seem to see any Eternal Empire medics? Surely the Empire had them! So where were they?

"That... That is a good question, that I'm going to think about after we get out of this place."

Clearly, this hellish realm didn’t want them there. Between the failure of her repulsor pack and the malfunctioning of her seeker droid, Velexia could not help but to fear what could come next. A failure of her energy shield? Her weapons? What if all of the technology on her person was effectively dead weight? The diminutive Siren could only imagine what would happen then.

Nevertheless, the arrival of the Empress surprised her, a veritable Goddess among mortals, who had seen fit to assist her, out of all of her sisters.

“My Lord!” Velexia began. “The seeker droid...it malfunctioned, along with my repulsor pack.” She said. “D-do you know anything that would cause this?”

Just then, her question seemed to answer itself.

The arrival of the Manifold was marked only by their voice, robotic, flat, and cold. Velexia immediately snapped up, pointing her SMG towards the Omni-Drone and dutifully attempting to protect her Empress against the threat represented by the seemingly mutated, exanimate cyborg.

“S-stay back!” The Siren warned, her voice slightly stammering as she spoke, point her SMG at the thing even though a part of her wondered if she could even trust the weapon to work in this horrid realm. Nevertheless, Velexia maintained her focus, albeit lapsing only briefly at the translation of a Sorceress into the area behind the shambling thing.

“I’m warning you!”

Hypergate Bakura: Netherworld Side
Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim | Velexia | N Nyxeris

The organics were emotional beings, governed by passions rather than logic. It was the sort of flaw that Omni would expunge when It perfected them, stamping out the chaos in their minds and replacing it with clockwork obedience to the Grand Design. Those emotions manifested very differently in different mortals, however, and that variety was on display. One of them, a diminutive pink creature, reacted with apparent terror, clutching her weapon and babbling panicked warnings at the Omni-drone. How pitiful. But another, one strong in the Force, boldly approached from behind The Manifold, full of bravado. Perhaps it was because she was flanked by hulking, furry creatures with great strength.

The Manifold did not turn to face her. Indeed, they did not move at all, except to sway slightly as they hovered. Although their burning cybernetic eyes were located at the front of their corpselike face, they did not actually see out of those eyes... or at least, not out of them alone. Their senses came from sensors studded throughout their decaying organic body, and most of all from their powerful connection to the Living Force. They could perceive the Lady of Blood fully, in far more ways than any ordinary mortal, without turning their head even a fraction of an inch. When they spoke, their waxy lips did not move; the sound boomed out of the nest of cables and augments that cocooned the back of their head.

"We Are: The Manifold," the drone replied, going on to answer questions both spoken and unspoken. "We Serve: The Droid God. This Realm: Omni's Domain. Oblivion: Forbidden To Mortals. Imperative: Turn Back. Alternative: Join With Us. Submission: Glorious. Resistance: Futile." There. The warning was delivered. The organics had been put on notice that this was no uninhabited wasteland; it was the realm of the divine Machine Spirit, which did not tolerate anomalies in the Grand Design. If they departed now, their trespass would be overlooked... though not forgotten or forgiven. Omni forgot nothing, and It knew the perfidious ways of organics too well to ever forgive after what had happened on Csilla.

If they wished to remain, of course, there was a way. Long tendrils of flexible metal extended from dataports in The Manifold's palms, wriggling like snakes in the open air; the drone's corpse arms rippled and distended grotesquely as the metal cables moved through them, like bloated parasites swimming through veins. The cables glowed with an eerie blue-green light, pulsing as data-filled nanites readied themselves to flow. These were the conduits of Conversion, the way that The Manifold could give the gift of service to Omni by rewriting organics into drones. "Your Choice: Accept Perfection," The Manifold boomed, cables writhing around it. "Alternative: Depart. Additional Alternative: Be Destroyed."

Objective: BYOO

Lori raised a brow as N Nyxeris offered to help her in whatever she was doing. That was odd. More than likely it was another trick by another shapeshifter, a tactic that she was quite used to by the Eternal Empire, for it had been used on her and her brother before.

Yet before she could answer, the woman and her wookies just up and disappeared. Lori looked to Arla and shrugged her shoulders a little. "Well, that solves that. Let's keep going." No doubt there was something that needed to be dealt with, which was just fine. Let the Eternal Empire attract all of the attention of the monsters or whatever lurked in the Netherworld. It left herself and Arla to slip through unnoticed.

'Don't run from anything immortal. It attracts their attention.'

That line from a holo-movie ran through Lori's mind as the two of them walked away from the Eternal Empire's position. They only had three days. So basically just a couple of days walking, before turning around and moving quickly to reach the gate again. Lori wasn't going to leave much time for sleeping, and at least with Arla, they wouldn't lose their way.

"Have you any idea of where to look?"

"I don't know. A house, maybe? Or some kind of hovel. I feel nothing but dread and angst here...if we find her, I doubt that it'd be anywhere pleasant."

It was no longer time to reply to Velexia that it was a completely normal anomaly within the Netherworld that something like this was happening because the laws of physics did not apply here. Because at that moment, someone arrived. She sensed the same presence from him as she felt from everywhere else.

"I'm part of the Netherworld, my presence is authorised!" she said in her cold and military voice. "This is my realm, you're the one who is not belong here, intruder!"

She never said that out loud. Only the current Claws and some Lord Commander in the Eternal Empire knew that the woman had died temporarily on Byss. She had never seen such a creature here in the Netherworld, so Ingrid watched the Omni drone with interest. He looked like a cybernetic human, but there was something else in it, something very foreign. Omni? The name was familiar to her, but only from history. She was very young then and not a Force User.

"Look at me better, and tell me what you see, Manifold, servant of Omni!" she ordered.

She wondered if the man could perceive this or not. If so, he could see that part of the woman’s soul was missing and with that missing part it was related to Nether, it was part of it; she lived, but she was also part of the Nether, like the dead. In addition, she is as cold and insensitive as a machine. In the Force, no emotion was felt from the woman's direction.

When did Omni return? She didn’t have time to ask because Lady of Blood had arrived at that time. Ingrid sighed… had not attacked yet. She was much more interested in the scientific approach, which at the present time was why and how Manifold perceives her after a more detailed examination. Last but not least, she now wanted to regain her normal strength, this is why she sent her own men to the base.

Because of the "tentacles" and cybernetic things, she didn't want to go close yet. Thus, for the time being, she further examines and monitors the man and how he acts in the combat situation.

// It was much shorter than the original because I had to delete 90% of the post, it would have been weird to react to them because of the double skip… Sorry! //

Caught in the midst of a clash of Gods, Velexia found herself wanting in comparison to the Empress’ authoritative declaration and the thumping beats of footfalls from the Lady of Blood’s gargantuan, axe-wielding beasts. Indeed, her warning to step back was one for Velexia to heed, though a part of her realized that the Empress would have no need of doing so.

Alternatively, she could step forward and embrace correction.

The voice came unbidden in her head, giving Velexia pause even as the footfalls grew louder in her pointed ears. She suffered a moment’s hesitation, frozen in place, yet her SMG still trained on the mutated-looking cyborg avatar of perfection. Mismatched eyes took in their corrupt divine form, grotesque, writhing tentacles beautiful extensions of Omni’s will, hives of wasp-like nanites, intent upon enslaving her will converting her to an exemplification of transcendence.

Or, she could step back and accept the error of her mortal flesh.

Indeed, the temptation of divine perfection under his submission was perhaps too great for her mortal will, matters not helped in perceiving her own weakness as compared to the Gods surrounding her. The being before her offered correction for her error, strength for her weakness, and submission for her rebellion. In contrast, the Empress reveled in her own wrongness and that of others, a twisted perversion of perfection in the guise of a Goddess.

By now, the Qilin’s mismatched eyes were unblinking and distant, telling nothing of the battle being waged within between her will and his voice in spite of the approaching monstrosities. The SMG was still held in a firm grip within her hands, her finger having not yet left the trigger. She stared into the eyes of purification subjugation and corruption freedom, the battle pushing her towards the former, the latter, then back again in mere fractions of a second, continuing on until one or the other would inevitably emerge victorious...

What was it about this place that made her skin crawl? Was it because it was the home of the dead? Probably. Couple that with the weird monsters that she caught glimpses of here and there while she walked.

Lori didn't like it here, and that much was evident in how quiet she was. Normally she was a chatty Cathy, but here she was different. Here she was highly uncomfortable. And if they didn't find her Mom in the alloted time, she wasn't exactly going to argue Arla for an extension of their stay.

"What do think she's going to look like if we find her?"

"Herself, more than likely. But I don't really have the answer for that, Captain."

Lori nodded. It wasn't as though either of them had done a lot of research on the Netherworld or been there before. Her Mom could appear old, or young, or physically ruined. The last time that she had seen her, her Mom was very sad. Maybe that's how she would be here? The feelings that Lori felt told her as much. Maybe that was her connection to this place. Her Mom.

She wiped away a couple of tears, not slowing her pace at all as she kept on walking.
