- Cutting Power: While it does not match the potency of a lightsaber, the Scherezade is capable of cutting through durasteel and similarly resilient materials with relative ease, especially in comparison to more conventional vibroblade technologies.
- Lightsaber Resistance: Albeit a standard feature of most, if not all late vibroweapon technologies given the propagation of Force Users in the modern era, the Scherezade is resistant to contact with lightsabers and is capable of retaining its integrity against such weaponry over long periods, owing to its resilient construction and the energized “sheath” encasing the entire blade of the weapon.
- Energy Shields: All types of particle-based energy shields, both common and exotic, are capable of blocking the blade in its entirety. Ray, Molecular, and Xythan Force shields are generally the least effective, but even they will at the very least disperse the energy from the blade’s monomolecular energy cord.
- Mechu-deru: Often an unspoken weakness of any complicated and advanced technology, the Scherezade is vulnerable to the dark sorceries of Mechu-deru and other technology-corrupting powers. As such, a skilled practitioner of such arts can quickly disable the vibroblade’s systems to render it little more than a standard sword, provided that they have a direct line of sight to the weapon.
- EMP/Ion Disruption: Comprehensive Ion and EMP protection does not make the Scherezade immune to such attacks by any means. Depending on the proximity and power quotient of an Ion/EMP discharge, the Scherezade can suffer a range of deleterious effects, from complete shutdown to temporary system interruptions, both of which would also render it as little more than a standard sword.
Named after the mysteriously disappeared and highly prolific Assassin-Princess, Scherezade deWinter, the FAE/M-01 “Scherezade” Energized Vibroblade is a weapon derived from the electro-bisentos, vibro-voluges, Bilari electro-chain whips, and vibro-arbir blades utilized by the Elite Praetorian Guard of the ancient First Order. First United Astral Engineering developed the weapon in response to a need for a robust, lightsaber-resistant vibroblade, especially given the proliferation of Force wielders in the modern battlefield. To this end, the Scherezade utilizes an advanced steel composite and energized filaments, affording the weapon the resistance needed to engage lightsabers. Focus was also placed on amplifying the weapon's cutting power beyond that of a standard vibroblade. Many of the systems that grant the Scherezade lightsaber resistance also worked to enhance its cutting power, but incorporation of an ultrasonic vibration generator, much like the models used in force pikes, further increased the blade’s capabilities.
All in all, the Scherezade is a weapon for a modern era, one where wars are waged and won with advanced technology just as much as they are with the arcane powers of the Force.
