Outnumbered, out gunned and immediately on its back foot in its war against the Sith-Empire. The New Imperial Order sought out on constructing a star-dreadnought with its newfound resources in the New Imperial Outland, the planetary sectors from which the Sovereign Imperator ruled. The planets were among the poorer and less storied of the Galaxy but even still, the coming war necessitated bigger weapons to tangle with the Sith-Empire's own star-dreadnoughts.
The Sovereign-class was its first. Its design time tested and reliable. On immediate sight, it hearkens back to the wedge shaped star destroyers of the old Galactic Empire, it swallows most of its flaws in favor of its effective properties. Being a potent broadsiding capability with added forward facing firepower in its axial seismic cannon, plasma cannons and hypervelocity guns.
Overall, the Dissident Aggressor is intended to be the flagship of Irveric Tavlar's own attached fleet.
