STRENGTHS
- Transporter: As a transport ship, the Deterium class can boast to have an extremely large hangar bay that can be used for safely and comfortably transporting troops, goods and even raw materials in very large quantities.
- Well Defended: As troop transport and transport in general are occupations which require the ship to be sturdy and reliable, it has been built with a focus on defensive strategies, utilizing the SS-1 primera shield system, various strategically places heat and energy sinks and a very reliable structural integrity thanks to the choice of materials used in its construction.
- Slowpoke: As it carries a large quantity of goods, material or people, it is less meant as a warship and thus it has no need for maneuvrability or speed, though at the very least it does have a functional and state of the art hyperdrive for emergency situations.
- Limited squadron capacity: Due to its transporting nature, the space used for starfighters has been replaced by cargospace, meaning it is that space which is used for transporting goods, material and people, making it so that this ship is only capable of bringing along a limited number of support ships and if necessary a whole load of drop pods to launch troops onto planetary surfaces.
Upon realizing that there was still a market for armed and armored transport vessels, the N&Z starship division decided to come up with a design aimed for mass production which could be useful to both military and civilian purposes. At its base it had been decided to go for the hull and frame utilized on the star destroyers of the company's shiplines, building around that with a combination of an ersteel frame and double plating from the same material, which had already proven itself to be sturdy, cheap and incredibly reliable in all manner of applications.
The design allowed for a massive central cargospace, with limited space for support craft in the sides as hangar bays, with heavy blastdoors to allow for the opening of the central compartment and even the hangarbays, with the intent of being able to vacuum-seal the central compartment if need be.
To make sure the defense of the ship was well sorted, the choice had been made to install the NZ SS-1 Primera Shielding System, alongside the NZ ARD monotype point defense system to make sure that the ship was truly equipped to pass through even the most dire of circumstances and situations, putting the emphasis on the safety of the cargo and ensuring protection to a ship designed to traverse many a system to deliver whatever it was carrying with efficiency.
Though offense was no priority, safety also came in the form of offensive capacity, it was to this end that the engineers installed a limited number of Turbolaser batteries of the NZ HP1 variety and four quartet missile launchers to allow the ship to return fire if need be and when the situation would demand for it to be able to fire upon enemy or hostile crafts and vessels, such as in the case of a spacial blockade.
