"My name is Cassus Akovin, and I will break one thousand of you, before I let her die. "
- Cassus Akovin

BIOGRAPHY

Cassus Akovin is the son of Triam Akovin and James Justice and named by and after Preliat Mantis (middle name). Conceived on a good business deal, and raised by an infamous mercenary with her alien partner acting as a surrogate uncle with droids acting as nannies, Cassus never had a chance in hell coming out as normal. Still, his mother tried her best for the better part of six years to keep his home life as ordinary as she could manage as a single mother who never planned on having kids. Meanwhile, she tried to manage the ruins of her dangerous business left in the wake of his birth, subsisting solely on her remaining capital from the weapons and armor she still sold. Eventually though, once Cassus got old enough to start having ideas of his own, Triam began returning to the galaxy at large, visiting planets all across the galaxy to show her son what life had to offer him when he was old enough to explore on his own. She did this though, with the caveat that she had already begun training her son to protect himself, and built him adaptive armor to protect him from the more dangerous elements of the galaxy. Suffice to say, she may have given the kid some form of medical anxiety... though it is possible it has been running in her family since her father joined the Republic military.

Like many things in life though, her plan fell apart on contact with the enemy: fortune itself. After years of experimenting in unsafe environments, unsafe conditions, and beating her own body to near death on multiple occasions, her body finally began to fail her and developed a terminal and cancerous disease when Cassus turned 14 . Bed-ridden, Triam's career is over, and it may not be long before her life is as well. Until that time comes though, Cassus is stepping up to continue the family business as best he can, and with guidance from Crol H'hurut, long-time companion of Triam Akovin, he is going to do everything in his power to save his mother. First things first, time to show the galaxy that a new Akovin is on the block, and if it means getting the money he needs to keep his mother alive, he's going to break your chit!

TRAITS:
(+) Smugglers Luck - Likely because of his father, James Justice, Cassus seems to have inherited the uncanny luck of the smuggler. When baddies try to aim their weapons at Cassus, for whatever reason, a lot of their weapons end up jammed or otherwise malfunctioning. It doesn't happen all the time of course, but it happens often enough it seems a little bit too fortunate to be just pure luck. This luck extends to much more than just blasters, however...
(+) Fortune Favors the Bold - As relentless as his mother and inspired by the Mandalorian culture, Cassus is full of bravery and is dauntless before sights that would instill fear in other kids his age.
(-) Smugglers Luck - Despite being saved by his luck from malfunctioning machines, and despite being the child of an infamous innovator, things around Cassus tend to break - including things he doesn't want to be broken. As a result of this apparent uncanny misfortune, Cassus is trying to adapt to a lower-tech style of fighting, using items that are rugged and can take a few dents and a few misfires before breaking. Unfortunately, he still hasn't quite caught on to it yet.
(-) The House Always Wins - Although he had nothing to do with it, Cassus often blames himself for his mother's cancer. Given the way he breaks things around him without meaning to, he sees his existence as one that is causing Triam Akovin to die. She often reminds him that it was due to her own past, her own gambling, and how unfortunately all those years of gambling had finally caught up to her now that he had grown old enough to start taking care of himself as she did. Despite her wisdom, Cassus carries deep guilt within himself and is doing everything in his power to right what he sees as his fault, even at his own personal expense.

APPEARANCE:

Cassus looks mature for his age, as he often has, but still carries his youth on his clean-shaven face and pragmatic dirty-blonde haircut, though, like his mother, he doesn't often show his face to strangers unless he absolutely needs to. It's easier to survive in this galaxy when no one can recognize your face, and look tough enough to make fighting you not worth it.

RELATIONSHIPS:
  1. Daiya Daiya - Cassus has bumped into this girl more times than he'd care to count. Although their relationship was initially hostile, and there still remains a degree of discomfort between them, they have been known to work together on occasion. Daiya is as close to a friend his own age as he can acknowledge, despite any tension between them...
  2. Elise - With the assistance of other Bounty Hunters, Cassus managed to capture the Grand Master of the Silver Jedi Order, and was then tasked with delivering her to the evil Sith Empire. Feeling conflicted about his position, assisting the Sith for the chance to save his mother, he confided in the Jedi Master who gave him understanding and compassion. For this, he devised a device for her in the hopes it would aid in her escape after being delivered to Sith custody. He still carries her lightsaber, waiting to encounter her again to deliver it back to her.

Updated the style, courtesy of Raziel Raziel , added a face from Artbreeder, corrected some typos and reworded a few things, and updated my thread list. Additionally added a Relationships field, and added my second bounty collected :)

Next on the agenda is equipment, and considering all of his various relationships on the board.
