STRENGTHS

+ Acrobat: Alyosha grew up in a family of professional acrobats who taught him the art. He is more agile than most, and can perform physical stunts without suffering injury (most of the time, at least; accidents do happen).
+ Assassin: Years of training have paid off, turning him into an efficient killer.
+ Picklock: He can open locked doors with ease, provided they aren’t remotely controlled by a computer.
+ Deep Connection (K'paur): Alyosha is currently being trained to use the Light Side of the Force, although the methods employed by his teacher are a little unorthodox. As he opens himself to the Force, his deep connection is rapidly becoming apparent, along with the difficulties of controlling it.
+ Keen Sight (K'paur): His eyesight is perfect. So is his aim.
+ Boyish Charm: His youthful good looks make others (particularly those with a maternal instinct) like him more at first impression.

WEAKNESSES

- Obsessive: Paranoia and worrying is part of who he is, and can cause him to behave in antisocial, violent, or even irrational ways. If something bothers him, it really bothers him.
- Problem With Authority: He doesn't like answering to a superior and will inevitably resent anyone who holds authority over him, even if he likes them personally.
- Susceptible to the Dark Side (K'paur): He is more likely to fall to the Dark Side.
- Bloodlust (K'paur): Though hybridization has blunted his metaphorical fangs, Alyosha may experience bouts of extreme rage upon smelling blood. If he can't control himself, things will get very bad, very fast...
- Computer Illiterate: He’s never been good with computers. Hacking or slicing is out of the question.
- Impatient: He wants to get things done now, not later. He hates waiting around, and if you slow him down he will likely abandon you.
- Stubborn: He is set in his ways and not easily persuaded. Changing his mind requires a great deal of convincing, as he is highly skeptical and resistant to the charms of even the most charismatic and powerful people.
- Mommy Issues: He and his mother are not on speaking terms. Bringing her up in conversation, even casually or humorously, will instantly put him in a really bad (read: violent) mood.
- Smoker: While not a chain-smoker, he does enjoy his cigarras every now and then. It has yet to take a toll on his health, but if he doesn't quit soon it will become an issue.

TRAITS

+/- Force Bond With a Lunatic: He possesses a Force bond with his insane younger brother Val, which has both positive and negative effects. He can draw on his brother for strength in a pinch, and if they are both in combat together they become quite formidable. On the other hand, their bond also causes "episodes". This manifests as an occasional mental bombardment of strong emotions and imagery which can rapidly overwhelm Alyosha, leaving him emotionally compromised and no longer fully in control of himself. (It can also make his K'paur bloodlust more difficult to control.) He can still be communicated with while in this state, but whatever he says should be taken with a grain of salt. The frequency of these episodes increases the closer his physical proximity to Val.
+/- Emotionally Distant: Both a blessing and a hindrance, he is unaffected by most events that would be traumatic to others, but doesn’t have much luck when it comes to personal relationships. As he becomes stronger in the Force, this trait is curiously starting to erode...
+/- Perfectionist: His meticulous devotion to details and obsession with getting things right has made him a very thorough assassin, but the slightest error or miscalculation will haunt him long afterward.
+/- Friend to Freaks: While he generally tends to be a bit of an apathetic misanthrope, he has a soft spot for people who are "different", whether because of a physical abnormality or mental condition. He will treat them better and be much friendlier toward such characters.
+/- Memorable Face: Something about his face sticks in one’s memory. People who have met him don't forget what he looks like.
+/- Distrusts Droids: Somewhere along the line, he picked up a wariness towards droids. He tolerates their presence, but doesn't like the idea of putting his life or livelihood in their hands.

APPEARANCE:
b2a275b29000c7239505460ffd2e01e9--mikhail-baryshnikov.jpg

Standing at a modest five feet six inches, Alyosha has an impressively athletic physique. With a fair complexion, tousled dark blond hair, and large blue eyes set a little too close together, his face looks boyish and youthful, though his gaze is intense and betrays a grave maturity. This is a young man who was forced to grow up too fast. He has a pleasant smile, but rarely shows genuine happiness.

He avoids wearing any clothing or armor that will restrict his movement—don’t expect him to show up in a tight suit, no matter the occasion, nor will he go into combat in heavy armor. He used to not care how he looked, but now he’s slowly starting to develop a sense of fashion, though currently he just has a penchant for darker colors, especially black and navy blue.

Those who know him might describe his demeanor as stoic or even boring, and it’s true that he’s not the most fun person to be around. He’s been mocked for his too-serious nature, but no matter how many people tell him to loosen up and relax, he remains rigid and immovable. He can put on a mask of superficial charm to seem more amiable and friendly, but deep down he struggles to care about anything.

BIOGRAPHY:

Alyosha Drutin was born on Corellia to a troubled young woman named Sinead. He doesn’t know much about his natural father, who began dating Sinead while she was working as a dancer in a club. Whoever he was, the lowlife didn’t bother to stick around.

When Alyosha was still a baby, Sinead began a relationship with a circus acrobat named Amos Drutin, whom she found easy to manipulate. After discovering she was pregnant once again, Sinead convinced Amos to marry her. Their daughter Jolene was born not long after. But Sinead was consumed by a careless wanderlust, and soon she left her husband and two small children behind, departing for regions unknown.

Alyosha was raised by his stepfather, who taught him the art of acrobatics, conditioning his young body to remain flexible and pliant. With him Alyosha led a generally happy, carefree childhood along with his half-sister Jolene.

When he was ten years old, Sinead reluctantly returned to Amos. With her was a little boy named Valerian, or “Val” for short. Sinead claimed that Val was Amos’ son, conceived shortly before she left, but the circumstances were questionable at best. After pleading with Amos to take her back and promising not to leave again, she and Val were welcomed home.

It soon became clear that Sinead had been a poor mother to Val, often leaving him alone in dangerous environments with criminals and vagabonds. The boy was already unstable and emotionally fragile despite his tender age. Though his two half-siblings tried to accommodate him, they found him difficult to understand and hard to get along with. Nonetheless, Val became attached to Alyosha, who was still kind to him even as Jolene grew irritated with his antics. Neither child realized at the time just how far their bond would go.

Then, the unthinkable happened. Amos was killed after a cable snapped during his act and he fell to his death before the eyes of a shocked audience. Alyosha, Jolene, and Val were left at the mercy of their mother, who was already restless and longing to leave safe, familiar Corellia.

She took her children with her off-world against the wishes of her family, and quickly became entangled with a crime lord named Tosh Rylance. Tosh took her as his mistress, but he made no secret of his resentment toward her children. He gave Sinead an ultimatum: either she must let him mold her children as he saw fit, or sell them off. Not wanting to lose her position as his all-expenses-paid mistress, she agreed to these new terms.

Tosh had the children participate in a series of tests meant to gauge their strength, speed, reflexes, and intelligence. The fourteen year old Alyosha, naively wanting to impress Tosh in hopes of gaining some respect, passed all the tests with flying colors. Thus his fate was decided—he would be trained as an assassin.

Jolene also passed the tests, excelling even in areas where he had stumbled. But Val failed and was deemed unfit for training. Alyosha witnessed his mother’s apathy firsthand as her youngest child was taken away, kicking and screaming, to be sold into slavery. He never forgave her for it.

With Val gone, Alyosha began to feel an overwhelming sensation of panic, fear, and eventually a colossal rage. He was only vaguely aware that these emotions were not entirely his own, but were in fact being channeled into him by Val, with whom he shared a Force bond. Alyosha was powerless to stop Tosh, but he wouldn’t be so weak and helpless forever.

So Alyosha made himself scarce, submitting to the often brutal regiment, his hatred of Tosh growing with each passing day. To his surprise, Jolene took to her training with enthusiasm. He wondered at first if it was just a convincing ruse to hide her true feelings, but his hopes were quashed when Jolene became Tosh’s favorite assassin. His resentment grew to encompass her along with his mother, who in his eyes must have been one of the cruelest, most callous women in the galaxy.

Over the years, slowly and by degrees, Alyosha’s anger began to fade into hopelessness. His goal of separating himself fully from the crime lord seemed more distant than ever even after he ascended through the ranks and became his sister’s equal. Well into adulthood, he was still working for Tosh and would be working for him, it seemed, until the bastard died or ceased to have any use for him, and that option didn’t seem likely. Moreover, despite her devotion to Tosh, Alyosha found himself reluctant to condemn Jolene. She was his sister, after all, and they had grown up together. Surely he could convince her to leave all this behind.

The final blow came when Sinead was unexpectedly detained while vacationing on Naboo. Despite her impeccable forged ID and bodyguard, her true identity was discovered and a warrant was drawn up for her arrest. She was sentenced to various crimes due to her involvement with Tosh and thrown into prison, where she remains to this day.

How could Tosh have allowed this to happen? Alyosha's question was answered when Tosh introduced him to his new mistress only a month later. The young assassin's rage and frustration finally boiled over.

The day came when Alyosha had his chance at striking back. He had entered Tosh’s private quarters looking for Sinead, only to become distracted and waste precious time. He hid in a closet while Tosh entered and sat at his desk. All his hatred had been building up for so long, he couldn’t hold it in anymore. Against his better judgment, he acted out of impatience and blind fury, stabbing the crime lord in the back. With the surveillance cameras having recorded his crime, Alyosha had no choice but to flee.

Tosh survived the attack and placed a bounty on Alyosha's head in retribution. The bounty specified that he was to be captured alive—after all, he was an investment. Killing him would be a waste.

Alyosha fled to his native Corellia, but he was attacked by bounty hunters and forced to live on the run. When he arrived in the Coruscant system, he was hit by a wave of overwhelming emotion that left him unhinged. He hadn’t felt this way—at least, not that strongly—since Val was taken away fourteen years ago. The experience forced him to consider the possibility that his brother was still alive. More importantly, he began to wonder whether it was possible to put a stop to this shared liability of theirs before it got one or both of them killed.

By moving from planet to planet and never staying in one place for too long, the assassin managed to evade capture for almost a year, culminating with him joining the Grey Forces, which brought him under the protection of Zaiden Dean, a powerful sorcerer. On the Grey Forces capital planet of Val’hala, Alyosha met Theo Vathek, a Wroonian who would become Alyosha’s pilot and best friend. When Zaiden suddenly disappeared, however, the Grey Forces began to drift apart.

Tosh, becoming annoyed at his failure to bring Alyosha back, changed his tactics. He put out a bounty on Val and succeeded in having him captured on Coruscant. No longer able to sense his brother through their bond, Alyosha rushed to mount a rescue mission, determined to kill Tosh once and for all. The mission was a success and Tosh was finally eliminated—though it was Val, not Alyosha, who delivered the killing blow. Alyosha downloaded information from Tosh’s computer regarding the training program for assassins, including the location of the secret facility where he had spent his teen years.

Some time later, Alyosha responded to a call to Odessen, where he encountered a woman named Themis. She offered to train him in the Force—by drawing upon the Light Side using Sith methods. He accepted and became her apprentice.

A year after his disappearance, Zaiden contacted the members of the Grey Forces. Alyosha responded to his call, but ultimately decided to leave the faction, as he no longer stood to gain anything from remaining a member.

In a bar on Corellia, Alyosha was attacked by a K'paur woman named Rathina Florescu who could smell Alyosha's mixed heritage, confirming his biological father was a K'paur. Following the violent encounter, Alyosha began to research the extra-galactic species and seek out his father...

Aloy Vizsla Aloy Vizsla - A young Mandalorian with a lot to learn. She bit off more than she could chew when she tried to catch me on Corellia. She's lucky she escaped with her life.
Darsch Vizsla Darsch Vizsla - Joti's obnoxious sniper partner.
Vrisskdohk Vrisskdohk - Like most Trandoshans, he refuses to give up on a hunt. I'd say I respect that, if I wasn't the one he tried to hunt down.

Targets
Mygeleto Mygeleto - Note to self: if the target is a Gen'Dai, don't accept the contract. I was in over my head with this one.

Grey Forces
Zaiden Dean Zaiden Dean - The leader of the Grey Forces, and a sorcerer who thinks he's a god. Things didn't work out the way he planned at our first meeting, and that pissed him off. I agreed to work for him as a hired merc, but I was still left uneasy about it all. It only got worse once I went on my first mission under his command. He was willing to train me to use the Force, but I ultimately didn't take him up on his offer. I hate to admit it, but he scared the chit out of me.
Aesro - I can't stand this guy. He's too complacent. I expected more from an escaped slave.
Anse Baenshaol Anse Baenshaol - Bit of a wandering vagabond, but at least he speaks his mind and doesn't let others push him around.

Operation Save Val
Be'iqaronn Be'iqaronn - Still not sure about this one. He seems like he's got a couple of screws loose upstairs.
Alyssa Shinobu Alyssa Shinobu - Normally I wouldn't take a kid along on a dangerous mission like this, but since she's a Jedi I made an exception. Don't know if it was a good idea.

Brie Jaxx Brie Jaxx - Some kid I encountered on Tatooine. We had a bit of a misunderstanding after she bumped into me and caused me to drop my cigs, but things turned out okay.
Maiven - A Chiss woman with a ruthless streak. At least she proved reasonable enough to get out while she still could.
Bal Kanu Bal Kanu - Weird kid I got into hand-to-hand combat with after chasing him across the city. One of the more bizarre nights I've had.
Aaran Tafo Aaran Tafo - Jedi. He better not get in the way.

Kateen Areina Kateen Areina - Twi'lek chick who piloted my ship while I was out cold.

Lucien Dooku Lucien Dooku - This foppish nobleman also answered Themis' call on Odessen. The difference was, unlike me, he'd already had prior Jedi training. To make matters worse, I had an "episode" right in front of him. Sigh.
Laertia Io Laertia Io - Themis' time-traveling goddaughter. A goth street magician with brain damage. Still pretty cute though.
K KAR - Really hot Jedi I was supposed to capture. Things went poorly and I decided she wasn't worth the trouble.
