A Gathering in the Light

The Jedi in the galaxy were constantly evolving.

The New Jedi Order had fallen, collapsed, and been reborn.

The Silver Jedi Order was holding fast on the galactic power, guarding the worlds in their influence.

The Jedi Praxeum was educating Jedi the galaxy over in the various traditions of what it means to be a Jedi.

The New Republic allowed their Jedi freedom of movement, but were working on learning and providing what assistance they were allowed to.

The Order of the Sacred Lotus was providing healing and the assistance of the light into the Confederacy.

And the Lords of Light, the radicals of the Light Side were around, they were not going to be missing this.

The gathering of Jedi had arrived on Tython. Small ships were arriving from the corners of the galaxy, different IFFs, different logos. Military ships, learning vessels, exploration ships, to personal shuttles and freighters had been arriving. A battle group of the Alliance in Exile was paired up in the local sector, with a Silver Jedi Order group, watching for pirates, bounty hunters, and Sith. Security for a gathering like this was required. On the ground, the Jedi knew that any attackers would have to get through the Lords of Light and their … unique approach.

Coren Starchaser, a one time Jedi Marshal, a Jedi Instructor, and one who worked to allow all the Councils to keep informed on what the others were doing, to a certain point. He knew he wasn’t going to be informed on the deeper secrets of each group, but he was one of the first warriors to dive into the defense of any of the groups. He knew that the galaxy needed the Jedi, and he knew the Jedi were always fractured, and the idea of One Jedi Order was never going to occur.

What he had realized, what most had realized, was that the Jedi had their differences, and this was the greatest strength of the Jedi. Sometimes Coren wasn’t one who people would listen to, but he knew that many more did. And that was why the messages had gone out. His YT-2000 Tachyon Rising was on the docking platform that was installed by the Alliance when they ran Tython.

An old temple, handled by Tython Command, and not the Lord of Lights. The stonework was reinforced in places with durasteel, and enhanced with turbolaser emplacements and shields, not many of the former, but primarily the latter. Jedi would need to defend themselves, but today? Today was not a focus on war and defense.

Today was a focus on harmony, a focus on allegiance and discussions of the future. The stone tower overlooked mountains to its east and the ocean to the west. Starchaser himself, with several others, from the Silvers, Praxeum, and Shattered were working on greeting their peers. The Jedi knew he would be speaking shortly, and greeted the first few before heading towards the head of the room. His allies would be here.

OOC:
Welcome to the Jedi Gathering, the JediMoot 3.something. We are here for a few points and purposes, but with a focus on the following:

Jedi and attendees would be given a small agenda, with networking functions, so that Jedi from various followings could discuss their goals, and focuses, but the main things are going to occur:

1) A keynote discussion about the Jedi including:
a. The Jedi Academy Network and its use for all Jedi
b. The Fact that the Jedi have differences in their groups, this freedom to interpret the code in their own way, but still be considered, and respected as Jedi by peers
c. The discussion of what which Order/Sect is looking for, to help create a way to focus the Jedi into the proper orders

The World of Tython. It was a good choice for the history that it carried, the significance that it meant for the Jedi, and before then, the Je'daii whom Veiere's Son remained a Member. Hailing from Commenor, the KingsGuard forwarded their transponder frequencies to the security of this Gathering, Veiere having been convinced to return to the open and public support of the Jedi Order by [member="Coren Starchaser"], and would soon find themselves being informed of their intended destination for landing and clearance to participate.

Over the fifty odd years of his life, Veiere had spent seven of them outside of it. Some committed to his Home and Family, while the remainder had torn him from the known life during his decline and fall from the grace of the Lightside of the Force. Guilt followed him for those times, yet Coren had expressed his ability to relate, as well as the prospective good that could be achieved with the Kings return to the Order.

'A Jedi King. Rediculous'.

Yet despite his concerns and belief that such positions should never be mixed, here he was and bringing his Daughter and Apprentice with him no less. [member="Loreena Arenais"] hadn't yet seen what it meant to be part of the Jedi Order, only having received training from Veiere in the privacy and security of their home-world. He had spoken to her on occasion, reminiscing on older times and the memories he still held dear, yet nothing could compete to the true experience of being there yourself, learning from a variety of Knights and Masters within the confines of a Jedi Temple or Enclave.

Today was about unity, not for one group but for all Jedi. Unity and Respect, for they all had their differences but whatever they were, they all still walked the Jedi Path and honored the Force in their perceptions of what it was to be called a member of the Order. Loreena herself had her past experience with the Mandalorians, something that would offer her a unique perspective also, for they had trained her well in their ways.

"Come along, Loreena" Veiere asked of her as he turned to move down the landing ramp, to be greeted soon by their personal envoy and be lead to where ever it was this conclave or moot was being held; "This should be a good experience for you, regardless of the outcome. To see so many of us in one place will be a pleasing sight to behold".

The 'Kal'vyshde' shot out of it's FTL channel and back into Open Space, the world of Tython looming ahead for both the Jedi Knight and his companion, "Chip", the BB-Series Astromech to whistle at in recognition of their destination. "Yeah, that's the one" Bekk replied through the Interceptors inter-comm, his co-pilot there on the other end of the line; "Get ready to ditch the Hypergate, Chip, then we'll make our way down".

The little droid whirled a series of beeps and clicks whilst setting to work, the clamps upon either side of the wings of the Star-fighter losing their grip on the inside of the docking ring, magna-locks deactivating whilst Bekk sought to signal ahead and inform those expecting them of the pair's imminent arrival.

The Zabrak Knight had never been part of a meeting of this magnitude, reportedly Jedi of all types and from all various different locations, enclaves and temples were supposed to be turning up for the event. Things had quietened since Jutrand, and once again it felt as though Bekk was more free-lance than part of something formal such as old Enclave life had been long ago.

The Jedi Academy Network had been useful, more so than anything else he had heard of since becoming a part of it. Nearly every mission or assignment he had taken on had come through the Network advising Bekk of any request or need for assistance regardless of the Order, World nor Government that required it. If there was a time or place that required the presence of Jedi, the Network would pick it up and Bekk had volunteered for a number of them already. It was only thanks to the Network that he had been informed of this great meeting, and come with great interest in the Order's future.

Of course, calling it the Jedi Order didn't just mean one organization to him, but all of the Jedi across the Galaxy, regardless of their differences. Bekk had been trained by his Master Amoné, she whom often seemed more street-than-Jedi, but had a great sense of integrity and faith in the Force too. Through his training he'd been able to take on a number of perspectives, not just that deep long lecturing you'd hear from Consular-types like ol' Azra'el.

A chime brought his attention back to the present; "Hm? Oh, right! Off we go then..." He responded to his droid-friend and soon began the descent for Tython.

Lori wasn't sure of what she was going to make of all of this. Here there were going to be people that had trained for years and decades even. Yet what about her? She'd been Force training off and on for less than a year. So there was little doubt that she'd know the least.

[member="Veiere Arenais"] seemed utterly pleased about it all though. He even seemed eager and slightly more youthful. Maybe it was the anticipation for what was to come. She couldn't really say. But it wasn't as though he was walking in among strangers.

She clenched her jaw a little, her muscles tensing as she worked her way through a variety of emotions that came about, including nervousness. Then after everything was tensed up, she let all of her muscles relax, and with that she released her bad emotions into nothingness. Back when she was first brought among the Mandalorians, she didn't really know anyone either. Plus she was made to SERVE at her very first gathering. Of course later she understood the reasons why, but back then she felt used. Still, it humbled her somewhat and made her more open to learning. Lori gave her Dad a sideways glance, wondering if he'd make her serve others here.

"I'm used to seeing crowds of people, Dad. Always gathered for something or other; whether it's a speech or a tournament or some kind of ceremony. Hopefully this place doesn't become a target. No offence Dad, but you attract trouble too, just like Mom. But..." she grinned and winked at him as she planted a hand on his shoulder. "...that's what you brought me here for? Right?"

[member="Coren Starchaser"] [member="Bekk Mag'ra"]

The compulsions of faith were inclinations a man of piety could not easily ignore.

The decision to attend the gathering was something Cedric had pondered for several days. The shattered landscapes of war torn worlds had become his stomping grounds, and the slaying of the Light's enemies had become his chosen form of worship. There was a comfort in the certainty of war: one could find clarity in its chaos should they know where to look. Cedric understood that such clarity was anathema to most of his brethren, and it was for that reason that he found himself hesitating as he stepped down the loading ramp of his shuttle.

The peace of Tython was something he had idealized and striven to spread across the stars since his birth, but as he stepped upon its surface, the ancestral home of the Jedi Order felt terribly alien.

Something has changed.

The Jedi Master's brow furrowed beneath his mask. Such shifts within the empyrean had never occurred on a holy world before - perhaps it was not the world, but himself? Unenthused, Cedric willed his unwelcome thoughts away and strode toward the gathering.

He was clad in the traditional war plates of his homeworld, his body encased in raven robes and phrik plating. Such heavy protection was not needed at a gathering such of this, but rather a matter of tradition.

In silence, Cedric took his position within the temple, arms folded about his chest as he regarded those present. Many faces were familiar: some friends, some old rivals, and others unpleasant associates. He supposed it did not particularly matter who he knew; whatever bonds he might have felt were a lifetime away now.

"I'm not late." Kahne slightly disregarded what his droid was saying. Gala tended to be the maternal mother of his life, and while Gala was just a droid, she acted almost as human as could be.

Which was a slight annoyance.....

The Jedi had not attended the last meeting and while he had heard different things about it. Kahne wasn't technically part of any order right now, well perhaps the shattered order would be a close first. But in truth there wasn't no true order to which he belonged. He had hoped Alexandra would join him on this venture however she had duties herself and their little ones were safe with their caretakers that had been chosen.

His views on the Jedi and the code itself were always mixed, perhaps unorthodox at best. He was looking forward to this, he hadn't been to a gather like this in his lifetime from what he could recall. It would be good to listen to others views and opinions about the Jedi and how things could be. The ship arrived out of hyperspace with Tython before him as he directed the ship towards the location of the gathering. It wouldn't take him long to find a place to land his ship and see what was going on.

Laertia Io, Last of The Marksmen.

It was an assertion she clung to, even after learning Uri Udinia was still alive, now going by a silly as hell alias of Maple Harte. It sounded like something she had made up in a diner to sound deep or something.

The reason she clung to her assertion? Maple--Uri--had fled, faked her death. Laertia though...

Laertia hadn't quit until she had literally been forced out due to a devastating brain injury that left her with permanent, and random migraines and phantom pains that were nigh incapacitating in terms of pain. It took medication to suppress but she needed to lay off it occasionally to avoid damage to her internal organs.

Laertia, in her own way, had stuck around to the bitter end, and endured existence in the years afterward as a two-bit stage magician that was having trouble getting work. She supposed she should be grateful for having had a family in the group of Jedi Shadows that had taken her in from the streets, but compared to what she had once been, the so-called Black Knight of Nar Shaddaa who could demolish nearly every foe who had ever stepped to her, it had been a humiliating fall from grace. One she had no one to blame for but herself. She should have never tried to take down that combat shuttle on her own.

Since joining the AIE, and since technology had advanced to the point it might be able to at least mitigate her injuries, Laertia had reluctantly rejoined some form of Jedi, shattered as she had been shattered. Exiled as she had been.

Apparently a guy named [member="Coren Starchaser"] had summoned a lot of Jedi to the Order's classic stomping grounds of Tython. Every gang had their turf. Personally, Laertia thought it was a lot of risk putting so many Jedi in one spot. Not at all how The Marksmen would have played it.

That's why Laertia wasn't taking any chances today, and after Moya landed the ship in her pilot form, Laertia had heavily armed herself while Moya transitioned back to her public form. Any attacks from Sith and Laertia's blade would taste their flesh, and this shotgun was going to blow another head off.

Laertia had been practicing with Ursula's knife in her all pink captain's quarters, something that had come with Ursula's last request: Find The Shrodinger Box.

"It's really manipulative if you ask me."

Laertia turned to Moya, the biot's form a curvacious woman with long black hair and golden brown skin, clad in a long black dress, a silvery lightsaber clipped to her belt.

"Wutz yuh meen?" Laertia asked of her caretaker.

"She discards you without even visiting you after your injuries, and then suddenly when she needs you she gives you her knife. I know you don't wanna hear this but...its a bribe. Not an apology..." Moya asserted.

Laertia stopped, her head lowering a little as she stared at the knife, a double edged dagger with a black hilt.

"Ursula wuz...commplycayted..." Laertia replied weakly.

Moya sighed, her emotion reading data telling her Laertia was still emotionally fragile where her Master was concerned. It discomforted the Biot: she knew she had taken Ursula's place on some level in terms of a parental figure. But both of them were too chicken to address the rancor in the room.

Laertia, sheathing the knife, not wanting to consider Moya's words on this. Instead, she merely stepped off the vessel, Moya following her.

"I've never been to Tython, its beautiful."

"Danntooyeen's prittier..." Laertia spoke as she walked to the great temple in the distance, already spotting many other Jedi, more than she had ever been around in months.

Laertia never fit in among the mainstream types. The streets had never left her. She'd killed in self defense before she was eleven. She had killed over food. Scraps of food, when she couldn't dig it out of the trash. She killed Sith the same way she killed rival thugs after her cut: quick and dirty. But that whole robe wearing code spouting moralizing? Laertia preferred to do good for others the best way she knew how...

...by breaking jerks.

Laertia walked forward to the temple entrance in her spiky leather ensemble, her body language betraying a lack of confidence around her peers. Beyond her ability to win a duel, she was no leader, and had poor social skills. It was no exaggeration to say the Biot walking along with her, enjoying the sights far more than she, was her only friend...

Tython had always been prone to change.

Back in the ancient times a single forcer, stepping onto its surface, could break the balance and cause storms of the Force raging through the world. A fragile balance. Since then Tython had known Lightsiders, Darksiders and everything in between. It wasn't as easy as walking on the world to cause a storm. The Lords of Light had started a war on Tython months ago. Pushing to destroy the Darkside, in its many shapes and forms, on the planet.

An endless war.

But it had subsided. Slowly. The Light taking more territory and more. The fragile balance of then was now replaced with a different fragile balance. Between Tython Command and the Lords. In spirit they had similar objectives, in execution... vastly different.

One day there would be conflict between the two organizations, but it wouldn't be today.

Those already in the temple would feel the arrival of the Lords of Light. Sardun and his Companions. They entered the courtyard and surveyed it. The guards of Tython Command kept a close eye on them. Ever watchful and vigilant. The Lords did not seem to notice. A burning fire radiated from them. Their Light had nothing to do with the pleasant peace radiated by the old Jedi Masters. It was harsh judgement. It was a roar for justice. It was all that and more.

"Two with me." Sardun simply said, before entering the temple itself.

Even here, among supposed allies, he wore his golden armor.

Behind him the other Companions arrayed themselves in defensive positions. They'd guard the Temple in cadence with Tython Command. Funny how that went, rivals outside, but now with one purpose.

Tython
Jedi gathering
The Dawnguard

You could show a scene to ten different people and ask them to describe it, the result would be ten different descriptions of it, none of them right nor none of them wrong .. just different. Out of all the places in the galaxy, Tython was not a place Coci had visited before today which was strange she supposed considering that she is a Jedi but her life until this point had not led her here. Now sitting gazing out toward the scene before her while waiting for clearance to land, she wished life had, Tython and her moons was truly beautiful and the perfect representation of her beliefs and this would be how she would describe it.

wsz3m4Z.jpg

Yet, the scene was dotted with a heavy concentration of ships, some of which hung in space like sentinels, others gliding down to planet side no doubt already received clearance. She could only supposed that the signature of her ship was old, the information outdated after all she had not registered this ship for some time and even the Silver Jedi would have to dig deep for it. But her name might help. "YT-1250, The Sting. You are cleared for landing. Welcome to Tython Master Heavenshield".

A reluctant smile pulled at her lips, she could have easy sat here watching and admiring the perpetual roll of Ashla and Bogan.

For as long as she could remember, she had a fear of flying but now that she enters her later years of life, that fear was gone. There was other things far more important to worry about now, and it seemed so insignificant to her it even made her laugh and it felt good to be behind the controls of her ship again. So many missions were run in this ship, like her body the scars on the hull testament to that, yet regardless of age The Sting was still the fastest in galaxy, at least that is what Coci thinks.

Once landed, and ready to go to the gathering, she took her time over the process meaning to arrive at precisely the right time, Jedi time. She enjoyed the walk along the arm between waterways that at the end of it was the Temple. The moons with their gentle tug upon the planet could be felt through the force, the constant yin and yang between the balance. Coci climbed the steps and stood before the doors, a complete stranger to this world.

A thick tunnel of clouds swirling with dark and light energies appear to pierce the atmosphere from space. Ragnarac had heard that this would be one of the few times all the jedi from many different orders would be there. Lacking a ship of his own he decided that this would be a good idea to test this force wormhole ability he had learned in his later years. It was forbidden but rag couldn't give up this chance. Maybe he would meet other grey jedi like him who dabbled in the darker side of the force. Maybe more mandalorian jedi would be there. Even just to see what other powers have been developed by the other orders. This would be fun. Stepping out of the tunnel cloud it dissipates almost as quickly as it formed. Rag then looking upon all the new faces. 11 years. Its been 11 years since he left the Order to travel the galaxy. 11 years since he began learning everything about the force he could. He could only hope that the orders members wouldnt come after him. Hed arrived a small ways away from where the gathering was being held and so he began the short walk to mingle with everyone.

Another arrival was the team from the Praxeum, a few younglings and moderately skilled Jedi. The ship, a transport built around a new edition Y-Wing had departed one of the praxeum medical/support frigates. The Mon Calamari cruisers that the JAN had used, the Ruisto was a multi-purpose vessel and instead of landing it on the planet of Tython, it was being linked into the defense force for this trip.

A few Y-Wings, similar in scope to the way U-Wings are used, but built cheaper, and more sturdy. Landing near the other recognized vessels, the teams of Y and U Wings were moving students and others who wanted to be in attendance and several would return to orbit, offering courier services from the other ships for the Jedi. And with the pass they were granted for meeting, it was a bit easier than getting other vessels landing permissions. But as long as they made it past the fleet? They’d be fine.

Stepping from the lead Y-Wing was a woman in blue and white robes, reminiscent of the coastal regions of Dathomir, ornated with songsteel trinkets. Her blonde hair was up under the hood as she stepped ahead of some of the students. She was not a student, but not the most prolific member of the group that would be here. She helped maintain some classes and was looking to become more involved. And with someone like Starchaser bouncing around? A calming influence from others, including this Token Waters was important.

But the Jedi were a varied group, and she was hoping she could find out more about what was going on in the larger reach of them.

For the first time in a very long time, there would be no need for thick fur cloaks or padded leather to keep the cold out while simply moving from building to building. No heavy snowfall obscuring ten feet ahead of whichever way you turned, or having to slog through three feet of the stuff in the mornings before anyone's had a chance to find a shovel to clear a path. Needless to say, for Thurion it was a very welcome change of climate as he had spent the last few decades on Midvinter with only the briefest of respites, which had been few and far between. His eldest son was recently married, and now he had a grandchild to look forward to, the latter of which had him feel a bit anxious about going away; if anything happened to Ylva or her little one while he was gone, he would never forgive himself.

But such worries were thankfully alleviated by the presence of his wife, who had taken it upon herself to dust off her own personal ship this time around. More often than not they would utilise the Oathkeeper, mostly due to it being far more comfortable for long journeys in space. It was also a nice change to be able to go back to just being a Jedi, rather than the lord of an entire city. Above all, it had been a very long time since last he set foot on Tython. Years before Midvinter or even Coci had entered his world, if such a thing was even to be believed by this point.

"They are beautiful, are they not," he said as they watched the twin moons together, a sight he remembered well as a child. "And yet, I always found them a bit intimidating when I was a boy. I was afraid one day Bogan would devour Ashla, and there would be no more light in the world."

As they made their climb up the steps, he continued. "Of course, much has changed in the time since." Too many things to count, and as many good as bad ones. "Last time I had two eyes, would you believe!" He'd come to the point where he felt confident enough to make light of the permanent damage to his face, with the exception being someone taking a particular fascination to it. What he truly could not stand were the looks and whispers among strangers, of which he reckoned there would be quite a lot of on this occasion particularly. Hopefully there would be some familiar faces to make up for it.

He took comfort in their reason for coming here to begin with; Coci was the chosen leader of the Dawnguard, and as such had an interest in making friends with other Jedi orders. For himself, Thurion was here simply to assist his wife and for the nostalgia. The Silvers were here as well, and though he had led them for many years in what now seemed like a distant past, he had little to no contact with his old order. He did not really expect anyone to recognise him, though perhaps the name Heavenshield still held some sway among the Jedi.

The Ambiguous statement had touched down, touched down was a nice way of saying dropped, but she was fine, had a million more miles in her yet. More patches on her than rancor in can, but fine. Descending the ramp, family on the ship, Zacka, Patches, Elara’s sister, Fyor Nayus’s droid head, and the other oddballs they’d collected on their many travels all going about their business on board. It was a busy little ship.

Tython, he’d not been here for a spell, not since he was “shooting Sith-spit off the walls.” Zacka was chipping in about old times as Kei left the ship. The elderly cage looking more wrinkled than ever. “No, not today old man.” Kei tapped his shoulder and grinned looking up into the sky, a sky where this had all started for him. Old man. He was a bit older than last time he came, bit more grey in the beard, and bit more limp in his step.

Amadis was wearing plenty of gear. Armor, sabers, pistol, shield belt, you name it. Because despite what they tell you, a large gathering of even the most well-intentioned force users from different groups can end badly. He touched the scar down his cheek and began a walk. Wondering if [member="Elara Amadis"] was going to be joining them, she was on the ship with their young ones, so that was entirely dependent on them not destroying the freighter in their absence. You know how it is.

[member="Thurion Heavenshield"] | [member="Coci Heavenshield"]

Did not expect anyone to recognize him! Well, we'll see about that.

Yeah. Those two weren’t getting up those steps without a badly shaven Epicanthix Jedi Master, first hugging Coci and then Thurion. “Long time no Jedi.” He grinned happily. This moment needed some levity, big day. They’d have to be formal inside, but outside, well they were getting a hug first before things became more serious.

Falling into step to their side, Kei breathed out and clapped his hands together firmly. “Let’s see what we can see.” The grin didn’t subside, but as he turned, his eyes were watchful, careful and almost Taiden-like in their reserve for what was ahead. The Jedi Master breathed out calmly. Anything could happen. He let any doubt slide into prepared calm. Amadis would find somewhere to the back of the gathering, far out of the limelight, as he preferred at these gatherings, so he could keep one watchful eye on the door for old time's sake.

Nodding to those present he walked in and looked for his spot.

In Quill's experience, Jedi Masters typically got attention if they wanted it. Walk into any room and you'd, at minimum, get noticed. Most of these men and women were probably used to that. Quill never had been. That was pretty much the only reason he'd shown up: because at a gathering like this, nobody would or could be the center of attention. That might not lend itself to efficient meetings...but it sure counted as a nice change of pace so far as Jedi functions went.

For Quill and his experiences, anyway. The diversity of Jedi lifestyles and ideologies on display suggested that others might come from a radically different place. This meeting might accomplish things after all.

He pulled out an old Jedi Academy Network datapad, slouched against the back wall, and did his best to figure out who most of these people were. [member="Coren Starchaser"] stood out, but that was basically it.

Tython, the very name conjured images of the past, a world steeped in history and in significance. It was a world drenched in light and dark, in history and meaning. Yet, surprisingly enough, Asaraa had never visited the planet before, oh she'd studied it in her classes, knew about the planet and it's history, but none of that prepared you for your reality of being her, of smelling the air, of seeing all the other Jedi congregating together. It was actually quite a sight, Jedi from all the orders of the galaxy mingling with one another, talking and chatting. It was the kind of vision that filled you with hope and..."You're scared aren't you?" The girl blinked, staring down at the hologram projected from her console as she spluttered in mock shock, "What no, never." "If you weren't then why are you standing on the ship instead o going outside." When they'd made her ship the engineers might have made an AI that was slightly less...observant.

"Fine, just to show you." Before she knew it the pink-haired Jedi was outside, striding towards the other Jedi...well they were Jedi right? How bad could this be? Besides, she'd promised to put on a good show and represent the Order she loved. The girl's hands came up, smoothing down her skirt before she took a deep breath and pressed on into the crowd. She was bound to find a familiar face or two and who knows, perhaps an unfamiliar face. It was a huge galaxy filled with all sorts of people, all sorts of Jedi. That was perhaps the thing she'd been most excited about when she'd heard about the meeting for the first time. The Silver Jedi were great, she couldn't describe how thankful she was that her old trainers had sent her to them, but she'd met a few other Jedi and it had always been fun, and now in this place there were so many Jedi, so many people who had their own relationships with the force that she couldn't wait to meet them, to see what differences they had, what she could learn from them too.

A diamond-shaped shadow spread across the ground.

Above, the archaic frame of one of the Old Republic's Venator-class star destroyers emerged amid the clouds, as the stately veteran of the Clone Wars settled into a geostationary position within the planet's atmosphere. Droid starfighters orbited around the ship in tightly orchestrated air patrols.

The young Corellian boy emerged into the lower hangar with two distinctive white cups in hand and an earbud comlink affixed to the right side of his head. "I get that the Sith wrecked a lot of aurodium stores when they burned Shri-Tal, but there's got to be better alternatives than the prices that the Muuns are offering," the boy remarked, participating remotely in a corporate meeting even as he boarded an air skiff.

He wasn't wearing robes, instead dressing casually with a short Corellian green cape draped over his shoulders. "I dunno..." the boy declared, holding out his arms in an obvious sign of frustration. "Talk to our people in the Underground. If they have any, they'd have more use for credits than they would raw aurodium," the tow-headed youth declared, turning and making his way over toward the side of the air skiff.

Folding his arms atop the side railing, the boy stared out over the Tython landscape as the skiff soared toward the temple. Resting his chin down on his arms, the boy seemed almost bored as he quipped, "Well, duh, of course it'll be stolen if its in the hands of the Underground."

It was called the Underground for a reason. If he wanted a legitimate source of materials, he'd approach the Confederacy. But probably pay the same price as he would with the Intergalactic Butt Pirates -- better known by their professional name; Intergalactic Banking Clans.

Besides, if the Underground was stealing it from the First Order or out of the hands of the Burning Chain, then who gave a kark? "I'm less concerned with point of origin and more concerned with getting production back up," the boy stated, standing upright and walking toward the boarding ramp area as the skiff approaching the landing area for the temple.

As he disembarked upon the temple steps, the young Jedi saw a familiar Corellian woman. He'd heard that [member="Coci Heavenshield"] would be attending. Stretching out a hand wordlessly, the boy offered the cup of barista-quality caf up for her to take.

Returning to his conversation, the boy remarked, "Just get me a new supplier for aurodium. I've got another meeting. Xantha out."

With that, he paused to take a sip of the cup in his right hand. Getting an artisan caf shop aboard the Intervention had been his best idea to date. Their hot cocoa was amazing, albeit with a ridiculously high price point.

But ridiculously high price points seemed to be en vogue at the moment. Something that the chaos surrounding the current invasions that were taking place was decidedly not helping.

Lowering his cup down, the boy skipped the customary hello and instead greeted the Heavenshields with, "Do you think this is going to accomplish anything? Or are we just talking?"

Blunt Corellian was blunt.

Apprehension.

That's what Jerek felt most of all as the air skiff zoomed towards the site of the Jedi moot on Tython. Excitement came in at a close second, partly aided by the owner of the hand and fingers that his were intertwined with. Having Allya by his side not only afforded the padawan a personal ally in his quest to figure out where he stood among the Jedi, but also gave him a chance to show her more aspects of the Jedi. Which was not only good for her, but also for Jerek. Her Sith background had been more alarming than an outright turnoff, but as attracted to her as he was, he knew it wouldn't go far unless she was willing to change.

Change seemed to be in the air, so it was only appropriate. Jerek's relationship with Allya was a drastic change for him. It had afforded him the chance to work closer with the Confederacy, yet another change from his history of working with the Republics and Jedi Orders. He had changed out of his robes on the way here, donning something less pompous on the way over. He hadn't noticed any message in doing so until it had been pointed out to him, his robes had just gotten covered in grease while working on his new starfighter with Sor-Jan and Master Ro.

He glanced back at the pint-sized Jedi Master, now playing corporate businessman on his comlink. The boy shook his head, turning it back to the quickly-approaching temple ahead. It was old, far older than the architecture Jerek had known on Ossus. Far older than even the ancient structures he had explored in the past. He shouldn't have been surprised that such things existed, galactic history hadn't exactly been his favorite subject to learn anyway, but he was still amazed to see such a thing up close.

As they approached, he turned to Allya earnestly, putting his hand on top of their conjoined ones. "I'm really glad you're here with me. I know it's a little frightening for you, but I'll be right here. And Master [member="Coren Starchaser"] approved my request personally, he'll make sure nobody starts anything with you." His face was serious for a moment, and then he broke that with a smile. "Besides, this moot is supposed to be about harmony and working together, even if we're all different parts. I'm sure you're not the only darksider ever to work with the Jedi, and I'm sure I'm not the only wayward padawan, either."

When they reached the temple at last and the skiff allowed them to disembark, Jerek led Allya off and onto the temple steps. He got about halfway before taking the opportunity to look around. Jedi abounded everywhere, interspersed with other lightsiders. It had been a long time since the padawan had observed so many of them in one place. The apprehension was secondary now, excitement eagerly coursed through his veins at the prospect of what was to come.

The Great Temple came to life with the arrival of many a Member of the Jedi. Students, Knights and Masters...-Veiere could only presume to guess as he studied their new peers curiously, a welcome smile forming at the presence of the Light growing with each new entrance. [member="Loreena Arenais"] didn't seem to be quite as confident as Veiere felt in their attendance of the day, however that was surely expected given his Daughter's lack of experience and association with other Jedi. Hopefully over time, her affiliation with others there would grow over the following years and she might one day find herself as comfortable as he, yet this was but a starting step for her in an ever changing Galaxy. Ever in need of Jedi.

"Oh don't you worry, Lori. I don't expect we'll find trouble here, of all places...", not with the large amount of Jedi present in any case. There seemed to be all types arriving, from Zabrak to the Heavenshields of whom Veiere recognized immediately. He wasn't up to date with the Couple's activities in the Galaxy of late, yet Coci and Thurion had put into motion what was now the Silver Jedi Order; furthermore, Coci had offered Veiere advice and sanctuary during a time where his Wife, [member="Lady Kay"] had been taken by the Sith Lord, Prazutis.

[member="Cedric Grayson"] soon caught Veiere's notice and that was certainly a surprise, Veiere had known his Father and had first met Cedric when he was but a Boy. The Grayson's were a former affiliation of his that ran deeper than most people today were aware. His Father, once considered to be like a Brother to Veiere, had helped to shape the virtue in which he looked upon the rest of the Galaxy, specifically the on-going struggle between those of the Light and those of the Dark Side of the Force.

"Isn't that your Brother's new Girlfriend?" Veiere whispered to Loreena as he noticed [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] enter into the Temple, a slight smirk taking to the corner of his mouth as the possibilities of embarrassing stories he could tell her about Caedyn Arenais crossed his mind. It was a playful thought though not one he would follow through with, given how touchy things were between he and his Son these days. Still, it was nice that Lori would have someone else around both closer to her age as well as someone she had met before. "Why don't you go say hello..." he encouraged her, yet didn't force the notion.

Between those whom he knew and those who were estranged to him, these were all only a fraction of the Jedi he had met over the passed thirty odd years that he had been away from Svivren. Coren's Jedi Praxeum had been a recent visit of Veiere's, there he had met more than a handful of students, as well as countless Silver Jedi he had been introduced to. The Galactic Alliance's New Jedi Order had also been large and quite possibly even on par with the Silvers in today's Galaxy.

Laertia's diminutive walk, juxtaposed with her caretaker's easy and casual comfidence in every step and how she drew her arms tighter around herself, trying to get a sense for the place. She had only gone to Tython a few times. Even here, she stuck out. She saw so many in some fancy robes and armor plating, and a life as a thug and fence gave her a reasonable idea of their street price.

There were so many signatures in the Force, some brightest, others with a fine glare of light, and some muddy and confused like hers. She could sense all these strange, powerful voices in the Force if they were right in front of her, at very, very long ranges, though at the back and to the sides such sensations were muffled to her, occuring only at close range. The shrapnel had affected other things. It had massively increased the range at which she could sense things in front of her, but dulled her range to her sides and behind her. Though given all the intense signatures, she could feel everything around her regardless.

She felt a little bit intimidated to be honest. She knew she was a hustler in the end who still wasn't quite certain what to do with herself beyond her magic show.

Things had been so simple, once upon a time...when her purpose in life had been as clear and bright as the presence of those around her...

Laertio Io, best duelist of The Marksmen.

At twenty-four, she is a prodigy at Form One, a woman of such brute physical strength those who have faced her and survived swear such muscular power cannot possibly be natural. They are quite right.

At twenty four, she has not yet faced an opponent truly able to defeat her blade to blade. There were those who could and had survived her, but none yet had given her the challenge she craved.

She is neither diplomat, nor philosopher. She is what she was on the streets of Nar Shaddaa, after having been blessed by an ancient spirit with the strength of a Wookiee. A wookiee who would be considered strong even by the standards of their own species.

She is, quite simply, a blunt instrument. A brute. And that is why she was recruited.

A brute that was currently power-walking through the floors of an ancient temple, her green crossguard lightsaber, The Constant Gardener her only companion as one Sith tried to duel her, red blade clashing...at first. But Laertia, her pale skin and dark grey eyes clashing with her spiky jacket then forced the weak Sith to his knees, and in desperation he tried to electrocute her with Force Lightning, only for the shielding systems she had built into her favorite jacket to tank the blast for the most part, at the very least Laertia got an unpleasantly painful, but not incapacitating sensation as she forced his own blade right through his face, killing him, though his body twitched for several seconds afterward.

Two Sith Warriors, both iridonians in black, robed armor jumped down from a balcony leading to the second level, one armed with a double bladed lightsaber, the other wielding two blades.

Laertia raised an eyebrow. This was her first time fighting either style.

The Sith duo dashed forward in the temple of black stone, sacrificial alters in a circle around her. She supposed the reaction would be natural...she had made a lot of corpses getting here. But they had someone here. Someone she valued like she had never valued any other.

And for taking her, their lives were forfeit.

Laertia waited for them to come to her and began a whirling twirling dance away from them as she parried their furious attacks, noting it was much more difficult than usual, due to her inexperience at these styles. But she adhered to the philosophy of Count Dooku: (she thought he had a very silly name if she replaced the 'U' at the end of his name with a 'Y') A single blade or none.

That said, it became increasingly difficult to win just by employing Form One, for their attacks were very fast and swift, though because it was so good at fighting multiple opponents with its wide, heavy swipes she refused to abandon it, as she prided herself on her Form One, knowing there to be a hideous and unpredictable element to it at its highest level.

Her attacks were a wide confusing series of sweeps with no rhyme or reason and her strength drove them back for some time, both feeling it in their arms every time they barely parried a ferocious swipe from her. One of them tried to use Force Speed to try and overwhelm her own excellent physical conditioning, only for Laertia to vanish and appear right behind him ten meters away. He dashed towards her with the Force, only for her to utilize Niman's philosophy and concentrate.

Both Sith suddenly felt like they were trying to push through molasses as they moved, some sort of telekinesis related ability neither of them had ever encountered before slowing their movements the closer they got, though Laertia seemed unhindered. Whatever their other talents, they simply lacked the strength in the Force required to overcome this physical effect and as a result of their sluggishness which brought them to just below normal speed, Laertia dashed forward, executing a vicious vertical attack on the Jar'Kai user so powerful he was brought to his knees AND cut in half as the X he desperately made with his blade failed to stop her blade from powering through it.

The double-blade Sith retreated, feeling his movement get faster the farther he got from her. Whatever it was, she could not do it past a certain range. He guarded with his staff. The Black Knight of Nar Shaddaa smiled, shut off her saber, and snapped her fingers.

A great cloud of gray smoke enveloped her in a cone shape. Three other swirling smoke cones appeared one after the other in random places. The sith sensed her presence winking out of existance and then randomly appearing in each cone of smoke.

Snarling he fired Force lightning into one cone only for her to stick her head out of another cone and make a silly face every time he failed to hit her.

"FETH YOUR WHACK-A-MOLE TACTICS!" the Sith screamed in frustration after failing to hit her for a solid thirty seconds. In a rage-quit he unleashed a powerful, circular Force wave that blew away all the smoke cones--but Laertia was not under any of them.

He looked up in shock, sensing her above, falling with her blade in a manner that would have looked rather epic if Laertia hadn't jokingly been making "Om nom nom" sounds with her mouth as he desperately, brought his staff up to try and parry the fatal blow. But he was too slow and the green blade perfectly cut his staff in two, then him.

Laertia landed in front of the corpse and the proceeded deeper into the temple, particularly its dungeon, a block of rooms with force field entrances to each cell. She found Ursula chained to a while, the purple, statuesque Twi'lek still in her sterile white combat body glove that hugged her figure.

"Ursy!" Laertia called out excitedly. "I'm Luuk Skyywahlkuh, I'm herez tuh resku yooz!"

Ursula opened and stared purposefully at her student with Icy blue eyes.

"Ha ha..." she said in a 'very' dry manner as Laertia sliced through the Force Field emitters and then watched as Ursula casually picked open her shackles, walking toward her student with a faint, but noticable smile.

"You've done well...where's Uri?"

Laertia masterfully kept her face from falling. Uri this, Uri, that, these days it was always Uri, Uri, Uri!

"I, uh, didintz tink I neededz tuh bringz herz, yoo knowz? Beesydes, sekuritee wuz nuthinz. Bustedz intuh drugg denz wit' morr mussle. Annd thickuh skulllz tuh crak." Laertia said, and then added (half jokingly, it should be noted) "Beesydez, gotzta reemynd yoo I still existz, I dooz!" she laughed.

Ursula stared with that lecture stare.

"Its dangerous to go alone, Laertia. And quite reckless on your part." Ursula chided. "You could have failed, and then you and I would both be prisoners or dead. Try not to do something like that again, please?"

Laertia nodded, eagerly, hiding how crestfallen and kicked in the teeth she felt. But she hid it with enthusiasm.

"Uh, O'courz, Ursy! Wontz happin againz, I swearz itt!" she said, following her master out of the dungeon, though she noticed herself gripping her saber a little bit tighter as she walked...

Laertia snapped out of it as she and Moya walked into the temple, feeling more nervous, yet still very small in the presence of those she had never really walked amongst in the old days. The Marksmen had been her home, had given her purpose.

And now, here she was, trying to get a do-over.

Laertia spotted one man and asked Moya who that was.

"That's [member="Veiere Arenais"] , husband to the Queen of Commenor," Moya answered her client. "Why don't you introduce yourself?"

Laertia looked at her meekly. "Yooz reely tinks I shud?"

Moya nodded. "We're here to mingle, are we not? Go. I'll be nearby."

Laertia gulped, but popped her collar and went over nervously in an almost huddled fashion to the man.

She decided to do something to break the ice. When she got in range she produced three playing cards, wiggled her fingers at them with faux concentration, before flicking them out of existance with a puff of smoke, producing an actual rose which she offered to the man.

"Duh namez Io. Laertia Io..."

The Dawnguard

A warm breeze tussled at the hem of her Dawnguard robes, and lightly brushed her skin. Like Thurion, it was nice to feel the warmth on your body that was not a result of thick fur or the heat from the hearth. And the smell was so different, a flora scent she had not experienced in a long time, well not of this nature, but it was so pleasant to the senses and refreshing to the mind. Midvinter had it's own way of doing that but after a time you get used to it. Coci smiled at her husband beside her, and she shook her head at his silly joke about his eye, at least his humour was back regarding life and it's experiences, although wounds never truly mend, not the ones that rupture the soul.

A prickle in the force told her a dear friend was approaching. She turned to see [member="Kei Amadis"] and she met him with a smile before they engaged in a hug, "It is so good to see you again Kei and looking so well". Her old friend from their Army of Light days which seemed like a life time ago. A small boy approached, [member="Sor-Jan Xantha"] another she knew from her time as part of the leadership of the Silvers, and he had changed somewhat, finally time was showing on his face but only a little. Strange how he is actually older than she, "A caf, oh how very thoughtful of you, thank you". She took it and relished the smell of it.

It seemed that Kei and Sor-Jan most eager to see what this gathering was all about, and if it would make a lick of difference to the status quo, she believed it would, at least to begin something of change. Before with other talks the time was not right, maybe it is now. Coci grinned at Sor-Jan, one corellian to another, "I think we should see this as an opportunity to take from these talks what we want, if you are here to make fresh contacts, or find an avenue for training or whatever. If you achieve what you set out to do then this will have been fruitful. It is my understanding that old agendas are not on the table today". A very ambiguous response to him she realised, yet the gathering will shed more light on this for them all.

"But there is only one way to find out .. shall we?", it was time to proceed inside and find the meeting place even though Coci would have liked to have enjoyed the outdoors a while longer, maybe after the talks had concluded. After all she had not had the chance to visit here before and her husband no doubt would like to revisit old stomping grounds. As she passed through the front doors of the Temple, she happily sipped her caf, and it was good.
