I submit that Eralam is the correct choice for three reasons.
Firstly, as one of the few truly neutral beings with regards to the Force, he is prejudiced neither for or against the Dark Side. One's alignment means as little to him as the color of one's underwear, and from his perspective, organics change their alignment far more often. Thus, [member="Veiere Arenais"] can be assured that his actions will be judged on their own merit, not through the lens of a silly sectarian feud.
Secondly, since he's not a part of any faction, one would be hard pressed to argue that Eralam has any reason to sway the decision in such a way that it would benefit anyone or anything other than justice. He's old enough to have watched every faction from the Old Republic on up to present day rise and fall, and he feels no particular affection towards any of them.
Finally, Eralam is not afraid of anyone who might be involved with the trial, and they have nothing he needs. He can't be bought, bullied, blackmailed, or otherwise influenced. Anyone who attempts to do so will receive a free copy of one of his intermediate dueling lessons: What To Do If Stabbed Repeatedly By A Rusty Fork Part A: Disembowelment. This will come in handy, because moments later they'll be disemboweled via repeated stabbing with a rusty fork.
In short, whatever the outcome of the trial may be, if you make Eralam the judge, you can rest assured that it will be fair.
