STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
(+) Experience- Several centuries of practice have turned a relatively modest talent for Absorbing energy into a thing of beauty. The trick, as it turned out, was not simply to suck up the energy and hold onto it; even with his inhuman physiology and experience, there are limits to what he can do. However, he has a talent for rapidly releasing Absorbed energy before it can build up to dangerous levels. It's the same with telekinesis. Most Force users have some talent with TK, and Eralam is no exception. Much like Absorb, his raw power with the skill is modest. He won't be ripping any Star Destroyers out of the sky or yanking superweapons out of gas giants anytime soon. But time and necessity have honed this ability to a razor edge. Not only can he move things with his mind, he can create barriers of pure force that can do everything from redirect incoming attacks to serve as impromptu weaponry.

(+) Reservoir- Centuries of practice and the ability to subdivide his consciousness into layers (think computer program) have given Eralam the ability to create a vast reservoir of personal energy. He constantly takes little bites from the ambient energy around him wherever he goes. Though the energy drain on the environment is minuscule, his collection net covers a wide area, and after a few centuries, the pool has grown to monstrous proportions. Several layers of his attention are devoted to containing the reservoir at any given time, and removing the blocks around it take time. This is not something he can tap into quickly, as doing so could cause a sudden, catastrophic and most likely fatal release. However, with careful planning, he can tap into this pool with devastating results.

(+) Duelist- Eralam's talent for dueling is one part raw talent, one part experience, and one part mechanical. He's a master of Makashi, and has incorporated the use of an ancient single action revolver into the classical dueling style. He might be middle of the road in terms of Force power, but when it comes to dueling, he's in a class all his own.

(-) Mediocrity- When it comes to raw power, Eralam is middle of the pack. He's not especially powerful by the standards of most Force Users, and is at a deficit in comparison to most masters. Though his centuries of experience go a long ways towards making up the difference, he's still not in the same league as the titans of Force mastery that flit around the galaxy.

(-) Subtlety- For beings of a certain height, blending in with a crowd is hard. It's even harder when your body is made out of metal and powered by a noisy hydraulic system. Eralam does not sneak. He has never sneaked, not once, not ever. If you don't notice the giant metal monstrosity with glowing eyes clanking around like a herd of mechanical banthas, you've no one but yourself to blame.

(-) Mobility- Despite the strength of his robotic chassis, Eralam isn't exactly what you might call agile. He can run and jump about as well as the average humanoid, but he's not cut out for the sort of acrobatics that Force Users are known for. His chassis is simply too heavy. In addition, he has trouble fitting through tight spaces, so no crawling around in ventilation ducts.

APPEARANCE:
His new chassis, as seen here, is designed with dueling in mind. About the same height as the last one, but a lot prettier.

BIOGRAPHY:
Eralam spent most of his life as a chunk of crystal on his homeworld of Orax. Life got considerably more interesting after he was plucked from his formation and shoved in an assassin droid body. Originally, his builders had hoped to make a new, more intelligent class of assassin, but they didn't count on the Shard crystals being sapient. Nor did they count on some of them being Force sensitive. When their newest creation proved nearly impossible to destroy, they released it simply because it was either that or nuke the whole facility.

The newly created Shard quickly found himself among the ranks of the earliest Iron Knights. Though he was by no means the most powerful, his talent for dueling and reputation for pragmatism quickly earned him a following. Though he was not the first to take the name of his lightsaber crystal as his own, he was one of the first converts, and took the name Eralam.

It was his pragmatism that led him to lobby against revealing the existence of the Iron Knights to the Jedi, and it was why he was not at all surprised when the Council declared their very existence to be heresy. This led to a split among the Iron Knights, as most of them argued that they should try to combat this prejudice by maintaining themselves as a public force for good, while he and his followers advocated going into hiding.

Palpatine's Purge proved Eralam to be correct, as just about every publicly known Shard was wiped out, regardless of Force sensitivity. His own Shard Network was able to save many, but not nearly enough. After the fall of the Empire, the Shard race rebuilt their fledgling civilization on Orax, but once again, they were attacked by organics, and this time, destroyed completely. Only a handful managed to escape. The Shard Network went completely underground for centuries, operating in near total secrecy.

For the next 400 years, Eralam worked around the periphery of organic society as a mercenary and professional duelist. Shards were largely considered an oddity, but his skill with a blade earned him a reputation as a fearsome fighter. It also distracted from the fact that he was still managing a vast underground intelligence network comprised almost entirely of Shards who had learned their lessons about living in the open. Though they've become more visible as of late, they still prefer to remain in hiding.
