- Systems Face-Lift: Re-engineered core frameworks allow this classic Imperial hull lineage to match the electronic, defensive, and offensive output of contemporary warships.
- Fortified Cyber & Ion Insulation: The collective shields of the EMP-immune LK O.N.N. core, firewalls, and Cap Drains prevent the vessel from being easily disabled by ion cannons or slicing attempts.
- Adaptive Arsenal: Multi-mode warhead trays and plasma conversion matrices ensure gunners can transition seamlessly between anti-starfighter screen fire and capital-grade striking.
- Home Away From Home: Modifications to the interior structure and layout of the vessel allow the crew and embedded stormtrooper sqaud a slightly more comfortable standard of living than the usual fleet, allowing them to keep morale up during longer patrols.
- Complex Subsystem Maintenance: Utilizing parts from multiple competing manufacturers means that battle-damaged systems cannot be repaired using generic Outer Rim scrap metals.
- Advanced Operator Requirements: Using a variety of upgraded or modified systems packages requires that the assigned systems operator be specially trained and qualified on all of them to properly manage the ship while underway. If a certified crew member is incapacitated or killed, and no immediate qualified backup operator is available, the vessel's integrated systems could easily malfunction and/or cause module damage. This also adds to repair and retrofit times between deployments, as any replacement systems operators must complete their full qualifications for this specific ship before being added to the crew.
- Thermal Accumulation: Firing the overcharged plasma arrays or utilizing engine afterburners for long durations causes severe internal heat spikes, introducing minor visual sensor ghosting to the bridge and momentary increases in detectable heat signatures on enemy scanners.
- Vulnerability to Advanced Tech: While highly competitive, the vessel remains a standardized minor-production patrol ship; it must exercise extreme caution against high-tier or highly-upgraded enemy vessels or larger capital ships.
DESCRIPTION
Rebuilt upon the time-tested architectural foundation of the ancient Imperial VT-49 Decimator, the VT-50 Obliterator-class Assault Ship is designed to serve as a high-performance long-range, forward-deployable patrol, enforcement, and scouting warship for independent operations. Recognizing that full-size Star Destroyers and Capital Ships far exceed the operational requirements of many mission types, the Mahporeem Imperial Navy commissioned this modernized framework to allow commanders to operate on the fringes of imperial space for extended periods without dedicated capital ship backup. Built to out-fight what it cannot outrun, the Obliterator-class excels at punching through communication networks, hunting down pirate skirmishers, mapping contested sectors, enforcing blockades, and supporting special operations. The VT-50 acts as an imposing brawler that is as comfortable in long-range reconnaissance and picket patrols as it is in kinetic frontline engagements.
The vessel runs at peak efficiency with a crew complement of 4 personnel: a Pilot at the helm, a Co-Pilot handling navigation and sensors, and two Gunners controlling the dorsal and ventral turrets. A secondary passenger bay holds 6 passengers, comfortably accommodating a standard Imperial Stormtrooper boarding element. With a cargo capacity of 80 metric tons and a consumables supply line designed to last 2 months, the ship represents a formidable vanguard asset. Its full complement of durability, firepower, upgraded sensor suites, and electronic warfare equipment allow it to excel where a variety of other purpose built shuttles, transports, and patrol craft can not. However, its complex mix of high-end corporate technology remains a core limitation; if its proprietary subsystems are compromised, it cannot rely on crude, planetary scrap to fix its advanced systems, requiring specialized navy depots to rebuild it.
