Dominion Tynna Get Your Vote | Galactic Alliance Dominion of Tynna

bDalrjN.png

2sYS5cK.png

War is a continuation of politics by other means; the war against the Brotherhood of the Maw still rages, and the politics of the Core continue. The Alliance's victory on Tython, though costly, has brought a brief reprieve. Eyes turn inward as major elections shake up the Senate.

Coinciding with the impending end of the Chancellor Aerarii Tithe Aerarii Tithe 's term, many major worlds now hold elections or other selection processes to find their Senators. In the middle of trying times for the Alliance, the Senate that leads the nation into the future is of crucial importance. Every citizen has a vested interest in their leadership – not to mention the many other invested parties. The election season begins today.

itwasntcute.png

Homefront

Thousands of worlds prepare to select a representative to send to Coruscant, by as many different methods. From popular vote to royal decree, won by fierce debate or trial by combat, every world uses means modern or archaic to find their Senator. The frontrunners take center stage today as their campaigns begin. Prepare yourself, in whatever way necessary – it's a long way to the Senate Chambers.

lesspinkagain.png

Big Picture

Not every world is having an election, and not every Senator needs to worry about their seat. Some look a little further. Whether a shot at chairing a committee, beginning a run for Chancellor, or merely a public grab of influence and clout, many Senators head abroad. It is, after all, election season – there's more to it than just the vote. With eyes and ears turned briefly to the political sphere, it's a perfect opportunity to get some attention and spread the good word (about you).

godimisschloe.png

Civic Engagement

The population of the Senate Building is startlingly sparse compared to the wider Alliance. Few individuals have the power, wealth, or influence to stand in one of the most prominent political bodies in the galaxy, but that hardly means the citizenry is without a voice. Canvassing, protesting, contacting your representatives – in a trillion ways, the people of the Alliance can shift the political outcomes of the coming months. And, of course, special interest groups and wealthy donors can too.

whydidithinkpinkwascute.png

Partisan Interest

What? Domestic and foreign intelligence agencies, interfering in both local and national elections and political campaigns? Spies and specialists clashing clandestinely, influencing candidates and the electorate by both direct and indirect means, all to pursue inscrutable interests? Here, in the Galactic Alliance, this beacon of safety and liberty? Absolutely unheard of.

Keep it that way.

BYOO

Politics is exhausting. Go do something else.

Damian Du Couteau
Location: Coruscant, Senate Building
Outfit

JiGZUcY.png

Damian found himself a tad flabbergasted at the situation presented to him on the data-slate, the Tetan Nobles who all managed to escape harm, were rather up in arms about the situation of not having a true representative. A government in exile had only so many options, and Damian found himself in a rather peculiar position, much of his father’s work landed on his lap, but he himself walked on a fine line of being able to wield any true Federal power within the Alliance. I mean, what am I supposed to do with all my father’s reports from the Chair of Finance and Commerce?

With that nagging thought Damian continued to walk through the Senate Chamber hallways. Coruscant was certainly lively, bristling with talks of elections and Staffers hounding politicians for support for their candidate. The crowded nature of Coruscant always unnerved him whenever he visited the planet with his father, and it was due to that he learned to enjoy the much quieter Tetan fields and mountains. Which currently held a litany of Maw Zealots, Sith Cults and countless billions of civilians that could not escape in time.

Quickly Damian clenched his eyes shut, slowly shaking away those thoughts as he stopped walking for a moment. His hands clenched tightly but the young Du Couteau heir shook off those thoughts refocused his mind at the task at hand. He needed to find suitable allies within the Senate and secure enough influence to ensure the recapture of Teta under the right condition.

Sssar, in all his scaled splendor, laid coiled on many twists of his thirty foot long body behind a large semi-circular table to be filled with his peers. Before the table were many rows of bench seating cushioned in taut blue pillows. The circular room was cut in two by a long red rug that ran from the entrance and stopped in the middle of the arc of the committee table. Among the attendees to the committee meeting were reporters from GNN and other, lesser known, news outlets. A camera droid idly hovered high above the audience for an appropriate angle to see the senators.

The Filithar turned his head to the right then the left as he looked out on the assembled audience. A silver protocol droid walked its way up next to the serpentine senator and said in a hushed tone "Senator, the committee is on schedule. At your leisure." with that, Sssar, gave a weighty nod of his head, and the protocol droid retreated steadily to the perimeter of the room while Sssar's body rose from among his coils so that he towered over all those present. Not only so that all could see and hear him, but to impose upon them a sense of gravity for the proceedings "Attention. The meeting of the Committee on the Judiciary will now begin, thank you for joining usss. I am Ssssenator Sssar Taszzn of Eclipsssse Sssstation, Chairman of thissss committee. CORUSCANT
SENATE BUILDING

godimisschloe.png

Free drinks and lobbying, wasn't this democracy manifest? At least that was the opinion of one Saro Nakaioma. As much as he would never admit to it, the Senate building was his guilty pleasure, as while he hated it for it's seemingly never ending parade of grovelling sycophants, he adored it for what it could bring him; credits. Suppressing a slim smile at the thought, he entered the building with his entourage of assistants, advisors and miscellaneous staff, the millennia-old structure still having a way of leaving the man in awe at it's ability to make what at times felt like an incomprehensibly large galaxy feel small.

Not that it mattered, today, Saro had other things on his mind, matters which were far more pressing and potentially far more lucrative than the needless philosophizing of man's place in the universe or what not. With election season in full-swing and the upcoming change in the Chancellery, it was meetings galore in the historical seat of galactic politics. All throughout the vast complex of conference rooms, assembly chambers and even corridors, deals, pledges of support, and assurances were being made by everyone from junior politicians to influential think tank representatives. Saro's plan was to get involved.

His prior negotiations with the defense committee had hit a wall, with little in the way of progressive military thinking (spending more money) to be found, and as such, the older man saw himself having vastly more success with the ambitious politicians whom were no doubt making their name known in these very halls right now. Armed with contact information, examples of NAKAIOMA's reputable nature, and mobile advertisements in the form of mini-holoprojectors and even pamphlets (all carried by his staff obviously), Saro made his way throughout the halls of the Senate building, careful to spend his time productively with each senator he met.

Decades of negotiating had told him the signs that someone was interested in what he had to offer, even if they were playing hard-to-get, so those ones always received more of his attention, while those who were clearly only paying him civilities were swiftly discarded. His only hope now was to find a noteworthy name among the irrelevant masses. It was in the Alliance's best interest to be well-prepared, after all..

Vibes

Oh, how she loved a gathering, be it in a business expo, a group of rich Atrisians back home or another corpo meeting where each budding Hayata employee tried their best, speeching extolling the company values to Aiko Hayata in hopes they'd get a rare leg up in the cut-throat world that was Hayata corp. But this would be different, Coruscant's labyrinthian political scene was brutal in its own right, but she wasn't phased by the average nobody senator from some backwater she'd never heard of. Instead, her problems were made manifest in the form of the rival Nakaioma family budging in on the political scene, seemingly not content to stick to ripping off warlords with tech that didn't work. But, of course, Nakaioma tech didn't make her worry, it was Nakaioma money, and the money bought power and influence faster than any thug with a gun did.

At least the Imperials were direct and straight to the point about matters; here she had to entertain being pleasant and entertain other people's wants and worries about the state of affairs in the economy and on Atrisia. She'd come to the gathering amidst the chaotic and all-over-the-place few days spent campaigning on Atrisia and the core worlds, both to support her reelection to senatorship and to pursue her ultimate goal of the economic minister. Such a position of power would cement her place and ensure the trade federations unfettered control of trade and credits in the core worlds; and she had confidence that her friend Tithe would support such a bid as he had supported her original ascension into the senate many years ago.

Flanked by the familiar sight of her tattooed bodyguards, the Atrisian senator hit the senate building with all the flair and flamboyance she was known for. Her bodyguards did the job of creating a path for the lady as she moved to collect a glass of wine from a passing server, her eyes intently searching for Tithe wherever he was.

Plutus Incarnate

The world of business.
It was a graceless thing, full of sychophants and masks only ever matched by the Sith. Often, Veles assumed rightfully that most businessmen were Sith - and he wouldn't be wrong, the psychopaths and apathetic made a name for themselves by crushing others under their bootheels. The long held rumors of Dorian Harper and Caulder Dune being Sith always seemed entertaining - but so far in his reign as Director he hadn't found any evidence of such in the accounting logs.
A shame, really - he would've found it interesting.
So instead of facing down the total strength of a zealot with golden eyes, he wandered alone into the gathering of Corpo scum who's pockets were lined with gold. Among them notable faces - Trade Federation breakaways like Aiko Hayata Aiko Hayata , and their rival Saro Nakaioma Saro Nakaioma . The tension between the companies and their families had been well known in the financial circles - but Veles cared little for petty squabbles, he only cared how he could take advantage of it.
A man approached him, a bead of sweat on his balding forehead as he reached out a hand to the Director;
"Veles Oshu? Congratulations on becoming the new Director. I've looked into the IGBC many times and I must-"
Veles offered a candid, flat smile before wiping his hand of the greeting - letting the oil and sweat of this stranger fall on his pants.
"Yes, congratulations. I mean this with respect, I don't know who you are - and I'm not interested in finding out."
The man's features seemed to pale, hit support knocked from him as Veles frowned a bit;
"You should speak to my managers - I have other's to meet. Stay golden, and keep your creds close."
The man seemed flabbergasted - but before he could respond, Veles simply walked away. He had far more important things to do than speak with a nobody middle management sycophant trying to earn his favor. The Richest Man in the Galaxy needed rich friends - not the ever present swarm of idiots trying to get involved with his company.
Because afterall, it was his company now - wasn't it?

Epoch | Former Palace Grounds

Auteme took a sip from her water bottle, then went back to pacing. It wasn't a nervous pace; she moved with purpose, practicing her walk out onto the stage. It wasn't quite right, given she was in a temporary waiting room near the venue. Not that she needed to practice at all. Everything was already set in her mind. A Sith could be found in the crowd, an explosion could go off in the spaceport, Darth Solipsis could resurrect himself and have a grand address to the galaxy -- and she'd act in the way she'd planned, no matter the circumstance.

Everything was going to go smoothly. There was nothing left to prepare. She didn't need to keep walking, she just felt like she needed to go through the motions. Perhaps it was excitement that kept her from sitting and waiting patiently. It was only ten minutes to ten.

She managed to stop herself in front of the mirror set by one of the walls of the waiting room. She looked at herself, searching for the flaws she'd found in the mirror earlier that morning. Instead she was satisfied by her cosmetics team -- her skin was flawless, her lips the right color and texture, her nails even and precisely painted, her makeup in that perfect place between subtle and noticeable, natural and accentuating. The careful foundation and powder contoured her face and sharpened her features. The blush spread just enough across her nose that it almost made her look a little burnt, but the richness of her skin fought back, balancing to give her a cheerful look. A subtle blue-violet accent in her eyeliner helped bring out the green of her eyes. Her eyebrows were trimmed and shaped to match well with her winning smile; her eyelashes were suitably luscious.

The outfit, though -- there was a problem with being able to change it so quickly. With a twist of her hand she shortened the cut of her dress, changed the color from white to blue, added a sash, lowered her heels. She turned slightly, placing her hands together like Adhira might.

If becoming Chancellor was her goal, how much would she be willing to change to get power?

After only a moment she turned it back. She fixed her bracelets and earrings, tightened her necklace.

"Senator," she heard outside, "it's time."

Auteme took a deep breath, then exited, walking into the backstage. One of the comms people announced her out front; a rolling cheer greeted her as she walked out onto the stage. She strode gracefully out to the podium at the top of the palace steps. By the time she placed her hands on the lectern, the crowd seemed to sense her seriousness, and fell silent.

She took a deep breath. Laughed. Smiled.
"Well, er, let's get this started."

Her face shone with joy, matching the cheer that filled the old palace district.

Homefront

Union Palace, Tidros, Champala, Early 877 ABY

Forlan Norsama waited outside the Chamber of Unity, waiting for the summons. It was low tide, and the hall was dry, leaving Forlan to stand waiting. Leaving him to 'stand on ceremony' quite literally would be an insult to any other Chagrian on Champala, but Forlan was used to labours far worse than this. At the least, it afforded him privacy to think.

As he fiddled with his plain brown robes (no red today. They're pissed enough with me as it is), he pondered the events leading him here. As Temporary Representative of the Union of Champala, Forlan had not been silent in Alliance politics, telling whoever would listen about the importance of curtailing the corporations and renewed attention against the Empire. To one such as Forlan, who had lived under the yoke of both groups (the Empire bears a new name, but a shark will never lose its fins) it was frustratingly difficult to convince the powers that be in the Federal Assembly to take the threat of either group seriously. Worse, Forlan had to deal with the actual Senator for Champala downplaying Forlan's remarks, along with the Champalan Government sending complaints to him every other week over his outspoken opinions that might "jeopardise Champalan non-alignment" on Alliance matters. With the old Senator passing due to natural causes, the Champalan government had had enough, it seemed.

After two years, they've finally given up and recalled me. So be it.

Forlan was surprised at how much dread he felt. Sure, it was not to the level of ambushing Sith patrols with stolen weapons, or leading his Vipers to battle to board a starship, but he had not expected to be so attached to this role he had been given. Abyss, it had almost been meant as an insult. Temporary Representative, all while an actual Senator was already present, and stripping him of command of the Vipers. Forlan frowned at the memory of that day. He'd almost had to use his gun on his own lieutenants to get them to stand down from revolting on his behald. Unthinkable.

Forlan heard footsteps from the hall behind. Turning, he caught sight of his Berchestian aide, hurrying down the hall, dataslate in hand.

I've done my duty. If the Council thinks that's not good enough...

"Boss, sorry I'm late. I was held up for-"

"Do not apologise, Ralfin, you have done nothing wrong. At least you are here, in form and spirit, for me at this hour," Forlan put his hands on the shorter man's shoulders and looked out through the sides of the hall, flanked not by walls but only by a thin, metal grate artfully patterned that left most of the side of the hall open to the elements, allowing water to seamlessly fill the hall when the high tide came. Through the grate Forlan could see the coast nearby, its rainforests laid bare by the accelerating sale of higher elevation dry land to off-world corporate real estate developers. Forlan was not born on Champala, nor did he spend most of his life here, but it brought sorrow to his heart to see the natural harmony of Champala despoiled so. Perhaps only a 'washed-in' Chagrian like himself could appreciate this. An almost comical sense of melancholy hit the Chagrian.

"Well, that's exactly, it, I was trying to say-"

The doors in front of the Chamber slid open, and a guard stepped out, motioning for Forlan to enter.

"I go now to have 'my cheese grilled', as the humans say. I thank you for your valiant efforts assisting me in these past two years," Forlan shook Ralfin's hand. Even now in this private moment, Forlan found it impossible to keep the 'bombast' out of his words. The mask had truly become the face.

"I don't understand boss, you're not-"

"I cannot delay. I will see you in a short while. Do not forget your wetsuit, tide's coming in," Forlan pointed out to the sea and turned, walking into the Chamber, leaving his aide confused.

4Mr5E7n.png
Coordinator of the Union of Champala
Councilor Gromsin, Human Affairs
Elder Weylok, Mootspeak of the Chagrian Clan Council
Grand Marshall of Champala's Muster and Militia

The Chamber was modestly sized, barely furnished. Contained within a set of parallel edifices within the Chamber that roughly marked out its sides were compacted a city's worth of data processing, manned by a dozen Chagrians who did not bother to look up as they read, wrote and processed vital information required by the Central Coordination Council of Champala (or just The Council as normal people called it). Forlan moved past the supercomputers, noticing the vast heat sinks to the side. For now, they were pumping salty steam into the air, but as the Chamber was built to be fully flooded like almost every other Tidebuilt structure on Champala, Forlan knew the heat sinks would be dumping heat into water once the tide came up.

Forlan headed to the far end of the Chamber, furnished with several floating seats. They were usually arrayed in a circle for the Council to sit and discuss, but today all but four were deactivated, and the four seats faced the doors and Forlan. He recognised the four seated immediately; the Grand Marshall in charge of the Union's militias, Elder Welyok of the ceremonial clan council, the Human Councilor Gromsin and the Coordinator herself, perched on a seat slightly taller than the others. Their expressions were neutral, except for the crochety Weylok, and doubly so for the Coordinator, her eyes hidden by a ceremonial visor.

Forlan stopped several paces away and bowed. This was it.

"Councilors and Honoured Coordinator, I greet you and answer my summons."

Forlan tried to keep his face neutral even as he felt the dread rising in him. Perhaps he had not been as much at peace with his impending unemplotment as he wished he was.

Gromsin was first to speak, the human giving a businesslike un-smile.

"Thank you for coming promptly, Representative Norsama. We have important matters to discuss with you."

Caught off-guard by the Councilor still using his title, Forlan replied:

"Of course, go ahead."

The Elder huffed. The old Chagrian did not like "unsalted" Chagrians like Forlan that came from off-world, and the pair had many an angry holomail exchange for a variety of reasons over the past few years.

"Impudence," he muttered.

The others ignored the comment, and the Grand Marshall spoke:

"You are aware of the ongoing hostilities across the border."

Imperials? Not exactly my domain.

"Yes, they are beginning to... act up, crack down. And the recent succession issue makes it much more likely that cross-border-"

The coordinator held up her hand, silently.

"Thank you for your input, but I am sure all assembled here know your opinions on this matter," Councilor Gromsin spoke.

Forlan nodded stiffly. He was extremely ill at ease with the imperious attitude the members of the government took on Champala. Reminded him of the bad years of his life. Yes, citizens of Champala were used to this kind of thing. As long as the Councils of the Union delivered, they were willing, happy, even, to pay taxes and put up with a bad attitude. "Poorest Champalan beats the richest Rimmer", as they said.

I'm sure 'they' love it when Master feeds them slops too.

"But yes, as you say, the Imperials are beginning to concern us. We have not had need to deal with raids from the direction of the old Sith Empire nor the Maw in a long time, but in truth, like yourself, we were..."

"-infuriated!-"

"-unhappy at the Chancellor's actions during the Teta campaign."

Ah, so this was about that. When the Corporatist bloc was so brazen as to distribute GADF assets to protect corporatist worlds and explicitly away from anti-corporatist worlds.

"In truth, we would not have been overly concerned with the redistribution of Defence Force assets. The planetary militia would have been capable of fending off Maw raids this deep in."

Forlan found it amusing that even when obliquely admitting they were wrong and Forlan was right to cry wolf, the Council still had to find a way to trumpet their greatness.

"But the prioritising of Corporatist worlds over others, with little consideration for the actual strategic needs of the Alliance is... unconscionable." Forlan could feel the anger roll off the Grand Marshall. Huh, perhaps the Council was not as clueless as he feared.

"In the matter of defence, your concerns have proven to be... prudent, if not yet come to pass," Gromsin said.

"But on the wider issue of the Corporatists, well..." Gromsin trailed off, unsure how to continue.

Forlan was also unsure of where the Council intended to take this conversation. For a recall and presumably repremand, this was going very well for Forlan. Almost an appraisal, even.

"Do you remember Denon, Representative?" The Coordinator finally spoke, her voice seeming to echo in the air.

"Yes." Forlan was unsure what the connection here was. More Senate business? Were they driving at his conduct? Surely that would have been discussed by now.

Gromsin cleared his throat.

"While officially we reproached you for your-

"-imprudent-"

"-spontaneous reaction to the media when news reached Coruscant, we ultimately did, and do, share your concerns."

"You are aware of the trouble we've had over the land purchases," the Grand Marshall said, his tone marking it as a statement of fact.

Forlan cursed himself. Of course. It had to be the protests.

"Yes, I have been busy keeping many of the... veterans-"

"-ex-Viper troublemakers?"

"...politically active immigrants, to whom I have a special connection to, from causing too much trouble at the disputed locations, yes."

"It's worse than you think." The Coordinator said simply.

"Worse?" Forlan blurted.

"Some of these Corporations, including, worryingly, some who have been shown to act like the ones on Denon in the past, have been proposing that they be granted increased autonomy over security matters."

Forlan didn't speak.

"We said no, of course."

"Swarm of feeders, all of them."

"And on our end... while we approved the sale of the upshore properties years ago, we are beginning to have some concerns over the direction of the development of these properties."

Gromsin raised his dataslate, put it down, and sighed aloud.

"In short, and bluntly, you concerns over the Corporatist bloc, and to an extent the Empire, have been validated. We need to send a message to the Corporatist bloc in the Senate and the Corporations that have dipped their toes into our water, and we need someone that can get the GADF to pay attention to the north."

Forlan wanted to speak, to ask something, clarify anything, but he found himself, for once, at a loss for words. He was not sure if he did not undestand, or if he did not want to understand.

"What... what does this mean for me? Why have you recalled me, then? I... I assumed this was a reprimand."

Gromsin looked over to the Elder, who shrugged and looked to the Grand Marshall. The Coordinator spoke, a hint of amusement in her voice.

"We have recalled you because we have judged that you can no longer serve the Union as Temporary Representative. The Council has decided, along with the recommendation of the late Senator Shiran, that you are to be the Permanent Representative of the Union of Champala to the Alliance Senate. You will be our Senator, if you will accept."

Forlan was stunned. So his words had an effect after all. But, Senator?

"Forgive me, but... I was under the impression my time as Representative was not conducive to this government. Are there no better choices?"

"We want someone who can fight for Champala's external interests and internal concerns. We can only do so much with the militia and the corporations. You will be able to do the most on Coruscant."

"And on the topic of, hrmm, conduciveness, don't forget that you will still answer to us-"

"-and the people of Champala-"

"-and us." The Elder shot an annoyed look at Gromsin.

"There are other things that we must see to here on Champala," the Coordinator intoned. Forlan could tell, even if she tried to hide it, that the political waters were not as calm as appeared on the surface. Was that why the rest of the Council was not here? A sudden realisation hit Forlan then; the Populist-aligned movements on Champala might be getting much more traction than even he thought. And it made sense, he realised.

Chagrians don't demonstrate often, if at all. The fact that, yes, ex-Vipers, but still otherwise respectable citizens would voice such concerns in such a way... He felt like a fool. How did he not realise this?

"And we are tired of nagging you." The Elder shot a look at Forlan, though no longer was there the glint of annoyance, just an exasperated humour.

"What the councillor means to say is that you will be given a free hand. You will, of course, not contradict the interests and intents of this Council. But as long as your actions and words align with the policy goals we will be defining to you after you accept this role, we will no longer send concerned holomails to your communicator."

"Oh, one more thing," the Grand Marshall added, pulling out a tablet slate of archival documents.

"This might be a bad idea, but with the the current Common Soldier Corps act now under full effect, we have decided to take back control of the rump Crimson Vipers from the GADF and to expand it to include, well, really anyone that wants to, if you'll excuse the expression, boil Imp and Sith cheeks. And in addition to Senator, we also want you to oversee the Vipers again."

Forlan was truly stunned at this turn of events. He had given up control of the Vipers and disbanded most of it because the Council at the time was worried he would have funny ideas and use the paramilitary Vipers to force himself into power. Now they wanted it back in his hands?

But even as the thought flashed across his mind, he realised it made sense. As Senator, many more optics would be on him, and he would be subject to recall by both the Council and the citizens of the Champala Union at large. Coupled with the need to bolster Champala's defences beyond the native militia, and Forlan realised this was quite a sharp move by the Council. Nonetheless, we wanted to see what the Council would say.

"Would this not be potentially... destabilising? Expanding the Vipers? Not to mention the extra work burden."

The Grand Marshall laughed.

"We are much less suspicious about you than the other issues we mentioned. And besides, since when has workload deterred the Crimson Commander?"

The Coordinator sighed aloud at the mention of Forlan's nickname during the war.

"Let's not encourage any ideas."

At that, even Gromsin and Welyok had to chuckle.

"As long as I keep my old staff and the late Senator's, I am willing to take these roles. With the extra work, I'll need all the help I can get."

"That you will receive, and our support."

Forlan nodded.

"Then I accept."

The Coordinator rose to her feet. The Elder moved his seat closer, and held out an arm carrying a rock that fit in his hands of the characteristic colour of the sacred Logue Rock. Forlan clasped his hand around the rock, and the Coordinator clasped her hand around his.

"By the Laws of the Union and the authority vested in the Central Coordination Council of Champala in the sight of the Clans of old, I appoint you, Forlan Norsama of unknown waters, to the position of Permanent Representative of the Union of Champala to the Alliance Senate. May the currents of fate carry you true and the tides lift your endeavours, as sure as Acheron slumbers."

"As the god-king is my witness, I will carry out my duties with due diligence and true faith to the Union of Champala, unwavering as this rock of Aram."

They released the rock and Elder Weylok brought it to his seat, scratching marks into it before handing it to Forlan.

"Take this as testament to your oath and office, Senator Norsama. And don't make me regret this."

4Mr5E7n.png

The discussion continued for a while more, and by the time the details of his assignment were conveyed in full, the tide was fully up. Forlan swam out of the chamber in the new robes that denoted his new office to find Ralfin still waiting, though now in his ill-fitting underwater suit.

"Yeah, uh, I was gonna tell you about that."

"Are you the real Rusty??" the young child, dressed as an amalgamation of two different R.C. Joh characters, asked from across the autograph table, comic book in hand, his mother looking a little embarrassed at her child's enthusiasm.

Ronval chuckled from his seat, almost as tall sitting as the child was standing.

"Yep, in the flesh," he smiled, adjusting his own 'uniform'. It had been a while since Ronval wore one of these for a PR event, and even longer since he'd worn real fatigues.

"Did... did you really infiltrate a Magus base on Sigma Nine and make their leaders fight each other? How did you escape? How did you know they weren't friends?" he asked, wide-eyed.

Ronval smiled and held out a complimentary mini-scale toy from a discontinued R.C. Joh sub-line as a gift.

"Here, let me tell you," and he leaned over to whisper the secret.

The kid listened intently and pulled away, the toy now in his hand.

"But shhh, don't tell anyone! Some secrets stay between Johs," he winked.

The boy beamed widely. "Will you sign this for me?" the child asked, handing his comic book over. Ronval signed on its cover and handed it back.

"Of course, anything for a fellow Joh."

"Wow, thank you! I'm gonna show this to my friends!" And with that, the child sped off, his mother apologising to Ronval for his sudden departure and chasing after him.

Ronval turned his attention back to the front and the queue behind the child. Nothing like a good old fiction and toy convention. Families, nerds, tourists...

He had been lagging behind on his GADF PR duties, he admitted. Too many of the past few years were spent on... that other project, first against an unassailable wall of Corporatists and growing Imperialist influence, then trying to keep up the momentum of the ongoing Populist pushback. All the while monitoring and giving soft nudges to the 'saplings' under his supervision. While any other agent would get extremely agitated over the nebulous and ever-shifting level of control he could exert on the 'saplings', Ronval would have it no other way. FORESTER-targeted groups should be wilful and independent.

A bit presumptuous to think they're my 'saplings', but I ain't sure I like admitting the reality of things, he thought, as he signed another book for the next fan in line. So here he was, taking a break and catching up on his PR obligations as the GADF demanded. The convention was modestly sized for Coruscant standards, but in absolute terms it was gigantic. The convention hall was packed full of various pop culture celebrations and booths. Ronval was a little surprised that The Owners had found space for R.C. Joh, but then he remembered the stacks of merchandise just beside his table and realised it was not surprising at all.

He was surprised at how neutral he felt at all this. He did not really like the publicity, and he despised those types that puffed their chest about their time in service to sell lurid novels, but Ronval told himself his PR duties were different. Yes, sure, he was essentially selling merchandise at this moment, but most of his PR duties most of the time were as representative of the Galactic Alliance Veterans' Information Network.

Y'know, like actual government lobbying for vets. And as SIA loves to remind me, to keep sounding the horn about Imperial aggression.

He signed the holovid casing of the next kid in line and waved goodbye. There was another angle to this, he supposed. He had played a minor part in that live-action remake some years back, so really, he was here as an actor too!

And I kinda like the new animated series. See, it's not all ghoulish commercialisation.

His communicator beeped a priority alarm. Ronval excused himself from the table, and one of the other autographers (an extra from Season 3, Ronval was sure) stepped up and took his place, signing a poster of Rusty owned by the very disappointed-looking kid who was now head of the queue. Heading 'backstage' (really just a slightly cordoned-off area from the merchandise booths), Ronval checked the transmission.

BIG_HOUSE is open Soon. Get your rear over there now. You're relieved of con. "duty"

SEAFOAM command hated it when Ronval did something as unsecured as read coded reports in public, but hey, no one ever fired an agent for being too dedicated. Data flashed across his dataslate as he checked the report updates. Increased agitation here, successful negotiations there, update on counter-protests further there. And the ever-present 'root-induced severance of ties', a euphemism for a grassroots movement or radical activist group who smelt a Fed from miles away and kindly told Ronval's operatives to beat it. Perhaps it was the idealism still in him, but he couldn't bring himself to be too annoyed at that. He liked it that way: no sense being a forester if most of the trees weren't natural.

He looked again at the last message. Looks like it was time to put aside Ronval the D-tier celebrity and act as Ronval the D-tier public figure. He hated going to the Senate Palace for hobnobbing. But anything for the boys in blue, and white, and yellow, and many other unit-specific paint markings.

Ronval sighed as he exited the backstage area and headed hrough the crowd for the exit of the convention hall. At this critical point in time with all the elections, SEAFOAM, and especially FORESTER, were stuck without support. The political situation was simultaneously too sensitive to make waves but also too important to not maintain vigilance. While the SIA higher-ups fixed their attention on what they could control right now (namely the ongoing operations in the Deep Core), it was up to middle-management like Rusty to keep the ship steady at home.

"Are you Sergeant Rusty?" Ronval put his communicator away, seeing a young woman now at the head of the queue. She was short and thin, bespectacled and a book in hand, one of the new Stellar Cantata spinoffs. A slightly older man was waiting beside her, slightly bemused. An older brother maybe? Could almost be her dad.

"That ah am. Nice to meet you, youngster," Ronval extended his hand.

The young woman extended her hand, and in it, she held a holdout blaster. An unnaturally deep and booming voice echoed from her mouth:

"Krataa kia skystas"

Ronval jumped out of his chair, flinging himself to the side as the blaster fired, the bolt barely missing him. The table was too long for him to flip, so the agent committed to the sideways fall, rolling to his feet, blaster drawn. The young woman was clearly unprepared for the response, as a gasp was her only response as Ronval burned a bolt through her brain.

The older man was much more ready, as he pulled an almost comically-sized thermal detonator from his jacket. Already the convention hall had erupted into panic, everyoe fleeing the area. He could hear his own communicator buzz with emergency frequencies.

"Stand down hero, before everyone in a mile radius buys it!" he screamed, loud enough for his voice to pierce the screams of the fleeing civilains. Ronval knew, and he knew the other man knew he knew, that the detonator was modified with a dead man switch.

"What do you want?" Ronval countered, steadying his aim and getting to his feet. In his peripheral vision he could see most of the crowd in this section of the convention hall had scattered out of the worst of the blast range. Contrary to his boast, Ronval knew the exact detonator charge was nowhere that powerful. Judging by the size, inertial mass, and manufactured components, maybe 30 Fill-grain of Visored Thermite. These assassins were clearly amateurs. Had the older man fired the detonator before the girl pulled her gun, at least two hundred would be killed or wounded in the packed convention hall. Now it was maybe the two of them with a dozen of the nearest civilians attempting to escape.

In the back of his mind, he knew something was still wrong. Deeply wrong. None of this made sense. But Ronval had to deal with this threat right now, stall him before the terrorist could get another step ahead of him. Ronval shifted his head ever so slightly, activating an embedded emergency communicator behind his ear. His SIA handlers on the other hand would hear everything. Hopefully whoever was listening in would be able to get in the loop of the security forces already rushing towards them.

"No stalling. You denied us a righteous sacrifice. You'll do exactly what I say or the charges I have placed at the exits go off and take out the stampeding sheep. And of course, this charge goes off and the good men and women of Coruscant's Security Forces die."

Ronval steadied his breath, processing the information.

Why in tarnation would he act in this sequence? This don't sit right with me.

"Like I said, mister, what do ya want?"

The older man's eyes flicked back and forth, watching his surroundings like he was looking for something. The security forces were closing in and Ronval could see the nearest approaching, weapon drawn, from halfway across the convention hall, vaulting over toppled stacks of merchandise.

"I've got a list, and you'd better start on it before they come over," his voice quavered. It was almost... theatric? Something was definitely not right.

"Okay, okay, calm down, just tell me," Ronval continued, spreading his arms to the side and pointing his gun away.

The security forces were approaching very near now, no more than a few seconds away. On the upper levels of the hall that looked over this area, Ronval could see security forces and... media? Those were unmistakably new media camera operators.

The man turned to see the security forces, and spotting the media, hissed aloud, but Ronval detected no frustration in the hiss.

"Freg! Listen up soldier boy, change of plans," he snapped, turning back to Ronval, his voice now only loud enough for Ronval to hear. The uncertainty in his voice completely gone, replaced with a... grin? A bad sign things were going to go from bad to worse.

"I know about your little gardening operation, boy, and what the spooks in the SIA are doing. All your nice little saplings sprouting where freedom don't shine. Corp worlds, Imperial autocracies... I know every last one of them," his grin widened, revealing sharpened teeth.

"Aargau, Bilbringi, Byss, Carida, Castell, Denon... Sound familiar? And they're not all. So once the newsmen up there train their remote audio recorders on us, and the cops arrive, I'm giving myself up, and I'm going to start spilling the beans, as they say. Your entire op ruined forever. Unless you kill me first."

Ronval's stomach dropped. Things were starting to coalesce, almost making sense, but not enough. He needed more information. He knew he only had time for one last question before the terrorist carried through with whatever next step of his insane plan was. Ronval maintained composure and asked:

"And I would do that, why? You have the bombs."

"You will do it because you are a hypocrite, Mister Rubat. You SIA types are all the same; you would rather preserve your sick little games than save the people you claim to, hmm, serve, and though your secret is preserved, they are all still going to know you shot me for unknown reasons, causing the death of all these poor little civilians. So what's it gonna be, R.C. Joh?" he curled his lips in sarcasm.

Ronval had to admit this plan made some twisted sense. Set Ronval up to either tarnish his own reputation, cause the deaths of hundreds, but preserve the secret of FORESTER, or give up years of effort to preserve democracy in the shadows to save these people. And this man knew Ronval would absolutely take the shot. But something else was missing.

His embedded communicator buzzed inside his skull, a message transmitting directly into his earbones:

<"Lumber One, threat is green, take the shot.">

Ronval raised his pistol.

"You're bluffing, sicko." And fired.

The blaster bolt struck true, piercing the chest of the man. He dropped the detonator, and it continued beeping as it bounced and rolled across the floor, stopping as it hit an R.C. Joh toy package. As if a dam had broke, security forces finally reached the area and immediately swarmed the place, securing hiding locations, the corpses, and bagged and ionised the fake detonator.

Ronval walked over to the dying man, choking on his own blood as he lay on the floor.

"How... how did you know..."

He could have said a lot. That the girl cursed him in Sith with her last words, and that a Sith would have set off the bombs early for mass death if the bombs existed. Or that if such a large-scale detonation transmitter existed, it would have been drowned in the barrage of signals now flowing between emergency services. Or that his plan would not have worked if Ronval had killed him and the detonator went off. How else would a man like him gain the satisfaction of watching Ronval struggle with the public fallout if they were all dead. Or that his handlers had given him reasonable assurance the threat was not real.

But no, this man didn't deserve to die knowing. Ronval strode up, got on one knee, and whispered to the man's ear as he breathed his last:

"Some secrets stay between Johs."

Having taken office only a year before the tenure of Aerarii Tithe Aerarii Tithe came to its conclusion, Xasha Callisto's seat was not currently up for grabs. A situation she was pleased about, not that she didn't feel she could win the Constanician representation, she was extremely popular amongst her home government. But she just didnt fancy the stress of canvassing and campaigning this cycle.

Xasha had thrown her support behind Senator Auteme Auteme For the race for rhe chancellorship, offering her assistance in the campaign and also personally inviting her to speak at a rally on Constancia, Auteme had been part of the Free Alliance Coalition and represented Xasha's best chance of have the opinions of her bloc represented, so the Senator had made her support clear from the earliest stages of the campaign.

Today though was more about makijg connections with new committee members and ensuring her interest to remain in the Health and Science committee was known. Xasha sat with a pair of Scientific representatives from newer worlds along the old CIS border, planet's very concerned about their own lack of clout within the Alliance and people primed to have a now more experienced Senator take them under her wing, even if they were a couple of feet taller than her physically. "Representative Nyah'yag, Representative Ouraon, Constancia would love to enter trade talks with your worlds, I will have an alliance diplomatic shuttle bring you and your families to my world and you can sample the energy production assets we have to trade. We can also discuss your worlds being brought within the concordist bloc for out mutual benefits."

She looked around for other Senators to make discussions with as she concouded with the two newcomers.

There was to be a new movement within the Senate a new Chancellor with Aerarii Tithe Aerarii Tithe coming to an end and rumors were of who would be next. Faith had to know what to do now as well. She rubbed her shoulder again, it had never healed properly since she was shot all those months ago.

So much to do so much to think about and now....now was as good a time as ever to have a continued conversation with Alicio about Alderaan, the Senate and the role that could be his.

She smiled remembering the past. The first day they had dedicated this very embassy and how they had tried to build others across the galaxy. Perhaps that was something she should be doing again, Consulates on other worlds to give them a presence to....make friends and build relationships. Build trade.

Becca watched from the door, "You're thinking about something I can see smoke"

Faith laughed, "Yes the wood is burning brightly. Yes I'm thinking, I'm just sure of the decision yet. I'm working on it thought. I asked Alicio to join me, can you make sure he is able to find me please."

A quick nod from Becca.

In his first day on Coruscant, Alicio had been ecstatic.

The city-planet had represented all of the Organa's hopes for a perfect galaxy. A place where elected officials came together to solve problems, consider all viewpoints, make a safe and prosperous Alliance. It was a place where his voice could be heard, where he could make a difference, where he could inflict real, systemic change for the better.

But after that first day, he was shown the dark side of the Assembly. His view of Coruscant had been tempered by the realization that not everyone cared as much as he did. Not everyone had the best interests of the galaxy's citizens at heart. Some resorted to kidnapping. Some resorted to murder.

So as he entered the Alderaan Embassy, he was glad to have a taste of home once more.

Cousin Faith had called him here, and Alicio had a pretty good idea why. Despite his feelings about the Senate, she was a shining beacon of hope that things could be better. That there were people that cared. She, and the rest of the Free Alliance Coalition, were the reason he still believed in the Alliance.

"Faith," he said, spying her in the room, and approaching with a smile. "I received Becca's message. What did you want to talk about?"

He already had a pretty good idea, they'd briefly discussed it before, but he wanted to hear it from her.

Epoch | Former Palace Grounds

The support wasn't surprising, but Auteme found it incredibly refreshing. The crowds she was used to were much tougher. Senators, reporters, people lighting up her DMs on the HoloNet -- this was different. Everyone who showed up to the old palace steps was a supporter. A few cam droids floated around, broadcasting or recording for later coverage, but she wouldn't face any opposition or struggle here. She felt welcome. Things would work out.

The cheers subsided, and she spoke. "Well, I'd better start here, if I'm getting so much attention from Epoch." She turned slightly, giving a glance to the palace for a moment, letting the audience follow her gaze.

"How many years has it been since a royal was last here?" A few people took her question literally, shouting the answer. She smiled. "That's not too long, I don't think. Not long at all." She turned back. "This place is old -- older than all of us. An institution that held for hundreds of years. Sirius Fossk claimed lineage even older than that to help secure his legitimacy. And, I think, there's a power in that. This man reacted swiftly in a time of collapse and disorder. Say what you will of his racism and authoritarianism -- and, it certainly should be said -- but he did have a certain strength.

"A strength of a rare kind. The kind that builds something lasting, the kind that people cling to even centuries later, that they fear the loss of, even knowing it is an illusion.

"There's quite a lot of talk about fear in Jedi circles. It's become a bit cliché, I think, so I won't repeat all those old adages. Nonetheless, it was what spurred on the chaos that reigned here, the last time a royal was in this palace. For so long, an aristocracy terrified of their fade to irrelevance in the face of progress and democracy plotted to reclaim their power by any means necessary. I don't need to remind you of what happened because of that fear."
Her gaze again shifted, this time to the distant statue of Sirius Fossk. The reminder was twofold: first, of the horror that had taken place on Epoch. There were days where she looked out her window and still saw the bodies hanging from Fossk's outstretched arm. Not to mention the horror inherent to Fossk's striking figure -- that commanding hand, ordering his armies to quell the riots during the Gulag Plague. The records had been lost -- erased, most likely -- but such an action doubtless resulted in a great many deaths.

But the other thought was one of hope. Recent announcements informed the public that the statue would be taken down this week. Auteme had used her influence to delay the removal -- the newly-instated government was eager to distance itself from its predecessors, but she couldn't pass up a chance at a bit more political theatre. Yet, in the moment, she found herself simply glad it was being removed soon.

"For the past few years, I've had the unique honor and privilege to represent you, Epoch, in the Senate. I have fought for your rights and the rights of all Alliance citizens, and for a better nation. It has not been easy. The same emotions that drove the violence here have risen in the Senate -- the largest corporations, feeling their power waning as the people of the Alliance began to realize their strength, have reacted swiftly, creating vast new space for their private profits given the opportunity of a corporatist Chancellor. And outside that, the greatest threat the Alliance has faced in its history is the manifestation of a failing ideology's final breaths. The Brotherhood of the Maw and their 'New' Sith are the desperate attempt of the Sith to find any place for themselves in a galaxy that wants to move forward.

"And these forces, though antiquated, are not immune to success. We've seen the effects of the Tithe administration, their priorities in this time of crisis. The Brotherhood have taken every opportunity -- striking fear into those who still see the specter of vast Sith empires and terrible genocides. They seem to succeed where others fail. We've lost much to this war."

She paused a moment, letting the crowd's silence reach a critical mass.

"We must change. We must move forward.

"I am running for Chancellor in the coming election, so I can ensure we do not regress into corporate despotism, authoritarianism, or fall prey to Sith fanatics. But it is not enough to stem the tide -- we must move forward, take hold of the values that have put us at odds with the likes of the Brotherhood, and press onwards.

"I'm certain every candidate has this in mind if they should attain the office of Chancellor, but I will promise it here, because it must be said. If I am elected Chancellor, I promise to defeat the Brotherhood of the Maw. There is no galaxy in which the Alliance and Brotherhood can coexist. They are our antithesis -- they should be our antithesis. At the moment, I think we've lost sight of what makes us oppose them. We must reclaim the values that put us at odds with such evil, and hold strong to them.

"This is not just a fight to survive, nor to defeat the Brotherhood. It is an assertion, a reclamation of our values, the very soul of the Alliance. We've lost our way in a forest of deception and selfishness; we must cut through, and forge our nation's path anew.

"I have seen it -- here on Epoch. It is possible to face tragedy, to face immeasurable danger, and to face it armed with the hope that tomorrow things can be better. In a few short years I have seen tragedy transform into prosperity, safety, liberty; an overwhelming hope for the future, a democracy stronger than I have ever seen. These things are in reach of the Alliance, if we only set out to reach them.

"Together, Epoch. Galactic Alliance. Together."

Her posture shifted slightly, signaling the end of her speech. The crowd saw as much, and erupted into cheers and applause that shook the foundations of the palace.

"Does this jacket fit?"

"I'm watching the road."

Ronval pushed his arm through the sleeves of his new jacket, his form contorted horizontally along the rear of the speeder as he struggled to find space to put on a proper suit. It had been an hour since the attack at the convention, and fortunately for him, SIA cleaned up nicely after its agents, and he was not caught on camera. Ronval did not really care one way or the other, but it did mean the assailant's plan had failed, and that he could show up for the meetings in the Senate Building without being swarmed by the media. The Security Force was another thing entirely, and the constable-inspector on the scene was this close to detaining him for questioning, if it wasn't for the timely arrival of Agent Ariand Jayan donning the identity of a CSF officer.

Said Agent was currently piloting the speeder towards the Senate Building while Ronval changed into something more appropriate for his scheduled rendezvous with Saro Nakaioma to jointly meet with some Senator or other to lobby for new toys for the GADF. The Corporate Shogun did not appreciate tardiness nor unprofessionalism, so the least Rusty could do was show up in a respectable suit and not a cosplayer of himself.

The speeder skid to a halt at the very wide and very secure checkpoint entrance to 500 Republica, an entrance that itself led to a comically wide and long broadwalk connecting here to the Building proper.

"You still smell like blaster smoke," Ariand commented as Ronval slid the speeder door open to get out.

"It's fine, it'll be lost amongst the smoke of, uhhh, something metaphorical," Ronval mumbled as he toppled out of the speeder, still adjusting to his new clothes.

Ariand exaggeratedly rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, sure. Try not to avoid assassination attempts in there, alright? Much harder to clean up at the Big House." And with that, she gunned the engine and sped off.

Ronval straightened his jacket and tie and waved his security ID to the checkpoint, who let him in without hassle. He wondered how irate the CEO would be.

Unfortunately for the Corporate Shogun, he would not yet find someone noteworthy. He would, however, find someone who, if not particularly well-disposed to corpos, concurred on the key issue of well-preparedness. As he moved from his previous meeting to his next, he would come across Ronval Rubat, Vice-Secretary of the Galactic Alliance Veterans' Information Network waiting for him in the hallway.

"Ah, Mister Nakaioma! I apologise for my tardiness, I was held up." -heh, nice- "I trust the meetings with the senators have gone well in my absence?"

Aerarii Tithe sauntered into the celebration with an enthusiasm not seen in years. While some politicians may dread the forthcoming term limit, the Aargauun saw it as a fresh start. His last few months had been enjoyable, freed from the rigours of administration. Surely no one actually expected him to maintain his vigil over the Alliance as his time in office drew to an end? He had a cadre of bureaucrats to keep the Core in check until his successor was appointed.

Tithe’s laissez-faire outlook on the Chancellorship was evident today more than ever. While he was flanked by his blue-clad Senate Guards, he had forgone his typical political retinue in favour of his personal lawyer, auditor and accountant. There was business to be done - real business, not the drab administration he had been burdened with since his ascension to Chancellor.

“Ahh, my dear, radiant as always,” he exclaimed as he greeted Aiko Hayata Aiko Hayata with an exaggerated flourish and bow. Tithe gestured to a Senate Guard with the wave of his hand, sending the burly protector to fetch him a drink. “Now, I trust business has been well?”

The room moved around the two titans of business. More credits were changing hands over polite drinks than most citizens would see in their entire lifetime. A raid by the Galactic Alliance Monetary Authority would find more unpaid taxes in this room than the rest of the Core. That was, assuming the GAMA investigators were smarter than the accounts to the mega-rich, which Tithe doubted. The government could never pay more than the corporate world for expertise.

“Yes, the days of Corporatist rule may be coming to an close,” he mused. The Senate could be counted on to push back against the Corporatist Party, who has enjoyed free reign during Tithe’s chancellorship, in favour of a less business-incline party. “It's vital that we ensure the voices of the hardworking industrialists don’t go unheard, no no. Now tell me, where do you envision yourself in the next government?”

Faith already held the warm she favored an extra cup sat with the service for Alicio to pour his own should he desire a cup as well.

Faith smiled toward her cousin, "It is election time, and changes are coming to the Senate. I think we should talk about the Senate again. I know I'm bugging you about some and that you at one time may have been uncomfortable about it. So" She moved slowly towards the chair trying her best not to show the stiffness she had developed or the continued dull ache of uncomfort that plagued her for months now.

"Have you had time to think about the Senate? What do you think of it as a body?" They would start somewhere and see where it went. Faith sat down grateful the chair was not further away.

Tia was on hand near by just in case there was a problem. Faith didn't expect any but one never knew.

Alicio meandered his way towards the awaiting pot, pouring himself something warm as Faith detailed why she had called him. His mouth twitched up, and he looked towards the Queen knowingly. The Count had his suspicions about what their meeting would entail, what with the elections coming up so soon.

"I have had time to think about it." Alicio said, looking contemplatively at Faith. "My opinion on it as a political system is positive, of course. The idea of having planetary representatives from across the Alliance have a say in it's policies is necessary. It ensures that everywhere in the Alliance has a voice, no matter where they come from." The nobleman took a sip, trying to constitute his next words.

"But with the attacks on the Coalition, and Senator Kobitana's disappearance, and what happened to her father, Marovik..." Alicio felt his voice begin to quaver, and he halted it, forcing himself back into calm. "I don't know. My faith has been shaken."

Alicio took a chair across from his cousin, sitting attentive and proud. "Which is why I want to help. If there's a way to fix what's wrong, I would be more than willing to help you do that."

"Before, you offered me a seat in the Senate with you. What does that mean, exactly?"

"Titheeee... fashionably late as ever, yet always grand in your arrival."

Theatrical in her own particular way, Aiko raised her hands in excitement and moved to greet Tithe and take his hands in her own. She took stock and note of the silver-haired Aarguans dress sense and fashion, noting that he'd always had a knack for the aesthetic. Aiko obsessed over such tiny details, and the Atrisian particularly loved the coat Tithe wore. Of course, she'd have to get one of her assistants to do an appraisal later on, she can't be outshined by her own partner in crime after all.

"I think saying the end is hyperbole, dear; merely the scenery has changed; I do not intend to lay back and let the others outshine me, Tithe," And that was not a lie either, she had all the intent to stay in the senate despite opposition from the anti-corporatist bloc.

"I'll throw in my luck and charm running for the economic minister title," Aiko smiled, almost knowingly alluding to Tithe that she'd always coveted it, which was true, "cannot harm trying, can I?"

She turned to look across the crowds to where @Saro Nakaoima was, turning back to Tithe and chuckling bemusingly at the presence of another Atrisian. Only one that had seemingly forgotten what the homeworld had looked like in quite some time. The diaspora was always ever so predictable.

"It's the year of the Atrisian megacorpos it would seem."

Faith set her cup to the side, "What does it mean exactly" She repeated his question. "Everyone's faith is shaken, the Coalition was supposed to bring a voice to the Senate then everything happened it feels like the voice got lost." Faith remembered that last meeting and the discussion that night that it was between Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix and Auteme Auteme . Faith knew that Auteme would put her hat in for Chancellor.

"Auteme will run for Chancellor, there could be more change coming than just the switch of the Senators. Policies could be changing if the Chancellor changes. Then having a seat in the Senate means a battle with Corporatists as they adjust to losing their powerful ally. "

Faith looked at Alicio, "A seat in the Senate put you at the front to help with changes, adjust to the new Chancellor, and begin to design laws and policies for the Alliance while keeping in mind how those changes will impact Alderaan. It is a stress filled job that often leaves you without sleep, traveling from one world to another, and often leaves you far from home." That was the brutal truth of it all.

Alicio considered Faith's words. As he often did, he let the silence extend as he formulated a response. Something beyond surface-level observations. Something that he truly believed.
