GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: The Stormpiercers
  • Affiliation: Olli Merec Olli Merec , Far Systems Alliance
  • Classification: Air and ground combat unit
  • Description: The Stormpiercers are a diverse unit that consists of soldiers of the FSA. Many refugees from the core as well as natives of the unknown regions flock to this battalion with much of the old guard being Corellian veterans of the GA.

    The original GA commander Ysennia Lee Ysennia Lee resigned from her post in the Galactic Alliance along with her command staff, leaving the battalion in the hands of Olli Merec Olli Merec . When the core fell, Olli and the rest of the battalion decided to retreat to the unknown regions with many of them losing their homes. Now returning with a fervor to fight back against the tyranny corrupting the galaxy.

COMBAT INFORMATION: A combined armed force organized into one battalion to secure an objective with speed, precision, and firepower. The battalion's core philosophy emphasizes that all companies work in tandem with each other to make up for each other's weaknesses. Because of their mixed use of air and ground weapons, the 42nd Assault can be deployed in a variety of combat zones to defend from internal and external threats. They emphasize the importance of reconnaissance to properly plan out their attack and then hit the enemy as hard as possible with heavy firepower. The 42nd Assault can handle a wide variety of missions including elimination of high value targets, peacekeeping, defensive tasks, and raids.

Strengths:
  • Communications and Logistics - The battalion would not be able to operate if not for their sophisticated support infrastructure. The support company uses their contingent of trucks and drop ships to make sure the other companies are adequately supplied while providing technical and medical support when necessary.
  • They're all over! - From CQB to long range strikes, from air strikes to anti-air, and from small arms to heavy arms, the 42nd use every aspect of ranged weaponry possible to dominate the battlefield.
Weaknesses:
  • Intra-unit rivalry - Because the battalion is made up of soldiers from the Core and the Expansion, rivalries within the unit fester. While this has developed some friendly competition, some soldiers in the battalion are bigoted towards each other. The battalion faces friction as more new faces join. Divides now sprout between the veteran members and the newest recruits with vets being more cliquey and secluded to cope with the loss of their comrades while the recruits shame the vets for a lack of patriotic fervor and enthusiasm.
  • Fast-moving targets - The 42nd don't have a lot of heavy armament, most of their vehicles are light armor.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
After the incursions on Tython, Sluis Van, and Echnos, the GADF organized another battalion that could handle a wide variety of wartime operations. Ysennia Lee Ysennia Lee would be designated as the battalions CO for her prior experience in peacekeeping and counterinsurgency operations. But was questioned if she was eligible for promotion considering she spent the last 2 years in a lab with very few combat assignments to her name. Her proponents however highlighted her 5 years of combat experience before being transferred to weapons research, with many achievements despite being so young. Ysennia Lee would be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel as a formality so she would be given command of what would become the 42nd Assault Battalion.

The Stormpiercers faced two major military defeats. One at Woostri and the second at Coruscant. Disillusioned with the fall of the core, Lt. Col. Lee had resigned her commission and some of her command staff who had followed her into battle and left the Alliance. The battalion was then handed to Olli Merec Olli Merec who was a colleague of Lee with more military achievements than she. Merec was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel for his experience in siege warfare and armor combat. Many of his proponents believed he was capable of overhauling the battalion to become more capable but he found himself clashing with the command staff who remained. Lt. Col. Merec, despite being strategically competent, developed personal issues with them due to his history with the previous CO leading to friction in command. Despite this, they do whatever they can to achieve whatever task are asked to accomplish.
