STRENGTHS
  • Increased Damage - Each AT-SB10 was designed to incorporate additional specialized components that further strengthen the blaster bolt produced by the weapon. One such component is the Broadend Chamber which widends the beams produced by the weapon.
  • Scatter - As evident in its name, the AT-SB10 does not produce a singular beam when fired at a target. Rather, the blaster bolt that it produces is split into multiple bolts when it is released from the barrel which allows it to open into a wide spread and potentially strike multiple targets.
WEAKNESSES
  • Pump-action Recharger - The design of the AT-SB10 shares some similarities to older pump-action slugthrowers due to the addition of a pump-action recharger. For the weapon to be fired, this pump-action mechanism must be utilized to properly recharge the chamber with Tibanna Gas. This can cause some minor issues with reloading if an individual is not accustomed to utilizing such a component any may result in the weapon misfiring or not firing at all.
  • Increased Recoil - Many of the internal components that are utilized to produce the more powerful beams that are discharged when the weapon is fired have also been the cause of the increased recoil that is experienced when firing the weapon. The lack of a proper stock also requires that the weapon be handled differently when fired to assist in mitigating some of this recoil, or even prevent the operator from being knocked flat on their backside.
  • Limited Range - The AT-SB10 was designed to be primarily utilized in close quarters and tight hallways such as those that are present on Starships and in densely packed Metropolis. When fired at a target that is located beyond its effective firing range, the bolts produced by the weapon tend to become too far spread out to be effective or may experience power dissipation resulting in a weaker blaster bolt.
DESCRIPTION
The AT-SB10 was designed with an intended purpose in mind and that purpose was to see these weapons deployed as either the primary or a secondary arm for Galactic Alliance Defense Force personnel who were assigned Security positions on the untold number of Starships that make up the myriad of fleets fielded by the Galactic Alliance. The design of the weapon focused on providing a means to more easily defend or dislodge an enemy force; a weapon that specifically excelled in the tight corridors or confines that exist on Starships by taking advantage of natural chokepoints that exist in common internal layouts. However, due to the semi-unique design of these weapons, additional training is often required to ensure that they are properly deployed and that their operators are experienced in utilizing their weapons. This can be seen in the addition of a pump-action recharger which must be utilized to properly prime the firing chamber before the weapon is discharged.

Additional components were installed to provide the weapon with increased damage output, an example of which is the Broadened Chamber; resulting in blaster bolts that have been widened. The resulting drawback, however, of these additional components producing higher damage output comes at the cost of an increased recoil when the weapon is fired. Likewise, due to the weapon not having a proper stock to rest against a shoulder, specialized training and stances are required to properly fire the weapon from the hip to assist in mitigating some of this recoil, or at the least prevent the operator from being knocked onto their backside.

While the drawbacks and flaws of the AT-SB10 are notable, the strengths of the weapon outshine these flaws, especially when the weapon is deployed into its intended environment. The AT-SB10 provides the personnel of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force the means to increase their effectiveness in defending the Starships of the Alliance Fleet. These weapons can also be utilized to provide additional supporting firepower to those forces that may find themselves entrenched in close-quarters combat or may need to rapidly gain access to and clear a structure.
