Faction The Scars of Kintan (SJO and any/all jedi)

A Light Shining in Darkness

Elise…”, Wyatt said with a growing authority - the distant rubble beginning to turn and shake as distant explosions, death, and further cargage began to take place. A mob was just out of sight, and the Force told Wyatt they were coming… Over and over…
You need to listen to me - If the others don’t learn of what is happening, and we don’t set up an organized defense -”, Wyatt offer slow, to make sure she understood.
But it was too slow. The mob became more visible as hooded figures, with metal scrap strapped to themselves in odd version of armor, began to hoot and holler - charging from their distant position towards the Jedi Masters. Wyatt lowered himself to a defensive stance as he finished what he had to say;
“- then a million more will die. Don’t let your pride kill these people - do what is best. I’ll…”,
Wyatt exhaled slow as the others came ever closer.
I’ll stay. Go get Jend-Ro to safety. Ensure the others can fight these beasts back.”
And in that moment, Wyatt would rush forward to meet the first of those unlucky enough to near the Jedi. Without another word to Elise, his lightsaber began to speak for him as the first strike stole the man’s hands - forcing him to drop the giant bumper sword, made from the broken scrap metal of a downed imperial cruiser. The second was much the same, and the speed of Wyatt’s blade became little more than a white blur as he began to disarm, maim, and otherwise disable every member of the mob before them.
Their hoops and hollers turned to screams as Wyatt’s focus became legendary - and he would not stop until none moved. They were the minority on the planet, likely leftovers from the Imperial invasion; but their God was the Sith Emperor, and these lands were outside his presence - there was only so much time until they would cease. Wyatt simply had to find the source of their leader, seek to cut the head from this terrorism before it had a chance to gain roots on this planet.
The sith were fought back, they would not have a sense of control here any longer. Wyatt’s blade would see to it.

"Have I died?" he asked, curious. "I didn't think I had-" he began to make light of the situation with hopes of calming the girl, but she clung to him with a haste he had not anticipated. The emotions she felt bled into the Force, a side effect of her Zeltron heritage. He felt the overwhelming sense of relief and elation that drove her, and only barely managed to stave off the temptation to be swept up in them himself.

It would take a great deal of time for the scars she garnered here to mend. With some luck, Kyra would find comfort and learn to control her emotions a bit better. But today was not the day for that, and Jerek held no such expectations.

Instead, he offered reassurance. "You tried," he told her as he patted her on the head. "But, more importantly, you stood before a Lord of the Sith." He pulled back from her slightly and knelt before her. "And, you are still alive. That is no small feat, Padawan."

Kyra Perl Kyra Perl

Kyra quivered at the reminder, ice running through her veins.

Yes that was a mistake. All of it. It was all she could summarize the event with; coming, staying, fighting, running, it all felt like one large failure. Despite the reinforcements ability to win back Kintan, she somehow felt like she had lost.

"We could have died. ... We should have died," she fessed, her voice tight. At least Kyra was seeing the situation with clearer eyes. A war was no place for a masterless padawan.

She pulled out of her own mind then, looking past her own suffering to summarize his own. "Areyouokay?" Her tone was tight, her hands groping over his torso for signs of injury. "I didn't mean to run, I didn't mean to leave, I-"

"Not at all," he spoke gently and wore a soft smile. "You were told to run. You followed orders. There is no shame in that."

Truth to tell, there was a chance that if she had done otherwise, she would not be standing there with him now. The Shadow deigned not to mention this, in light of the overwhelming amount of positivity that their continued survival brought to the girl. "I could have died," he continued at last, "but had I died, and the end result was your life being spared and another generation of Jedi lived to continue the Order's mission, then it would not have been a sacrifice made in vain."

There was no fear of death hinted at in his words. Jerek found his peace in the duty he did, and knowing that his actions had prevented loss of life on any scale humbled him. "It is good that you understand how precious life is, Myka. But do not forget, what makes life so beautiful is the impermanence it has. We protect life because life fades on its own, in its own time. That is the natural order of things," he told her, "and those who would disrupt that order disrupt a fragile balance. That is why we are keepers of the peace and not warriors."

She essentially molested him while he was speaking, but the Knight only closed his eyes and shook his head knowingly. No matter what counsel he offered, her emotions were frayed. This was a natural response.

"I'm fine," he told her at last, a hand touching hers slightly.

Elise's eyes widened, the scene turning quickly.

"No, I-" Her protests were lost as Wyatt charged forward. It hadn't been a matter of pride for her, but a matter of preservation. Didn't he know she could speak with those back at camp from her position? Perhaps the battle had muddled facts for him, but it did not change that he had misunderstood her.

She didn't want him in harms way either.

The master stood, her expression hardening as the telepathic message was relayed back to her men. The camp broke out into a frenzy, and surely all and any jedi in the area with the ability to receive updates would soon hear the news of sith-related scavengers. ( Jerek Morrows Jerek Morrows Taiden Keth Taiden Keth Zara Tate Ryv Ryv Auteme Auteme Weyland Castril Weyland Castril Aaran Tafo Aaran Tafo Sera Inkari Sera Inkari )

The scavenger's numbers were not overwhelming, but where they moved, they did so together. A small horde was dangerous nonetheless. Anyone in the city was vulnerable, and soon enough, the refugee camp would be too.

Elise cast a worried glance to Jend-Ro Quill Jend-Ro Quill , the jedi sleeping peacefully on the ground by her feet. She designated a portion of her attention to judge his future well-being, then jumped. The force propelled her through the air, then master doing a simple roll to control her arc and send herself soaring down at Wyatt Morga Wyatt Morga 's side. She landed lightly, a massive force wave rippling out from her core in a circle around them.

All scavenger's were thrown back, disengaged from Wyatt and left twisting through the air. Elise straightened, freezing their momentum with a subsequent use of stasis.

Every scavenger was left suspended in mid-air, their bodies twisted and frozen as they had been when they were sent flailing through the sky. Elise's expression was serene, gold locks obscuring her face as she closed her eyes and waved her hand.

The force ripple with her will. Half the crowd fell to the ground, dead asleep.

"I'm not leaving you either," came her voice, touching upon Wyatt's mind.

Things weren't looking very peaceful, she nearly told him, but words were energy and she was so drained. There was solace in the contact. There was solace in his warmth. The padawan shivered, then hugged him, her eyes squeezing closed. He was alive.

That was comfort enough.

Her senses prickled, a sudden spike of pain rippling through the force. Even her numbed sensitivity felt the shift, a fact which struck her as odd. The place was already sad enough.

How could it get worse?

She tensed, peeling off him, the girl casting a weary glance over the rubble buildings that led deeper into the city. "...Something's wrong," she told him, her voice tightening. Did he feel it? She looked up to him for reassurance.

The desert was silent.

The Ranger checkpoint lay burning. Bombed out. Zara's eyes glanced across the quiet, smoking field of bodies. Two dozen dead zealots. Black bodies charred to a crisp. Little left but capes and caged corpses. Strewn out, sprawling, metal faces falling. Dead men agasp. Agape. Against the wide expanse of open desert burning.

The Ranger gunship circled low overhead. Engine's humming. The gunner's feet hanging out the open door with a smile. His minigun barrel still smoking a warm orange hue. Minigun barrels still cycling. Spinning around. The gunner's eyes overlooking their good handiwork. No more targets left. All gone. Dead zealots all.

~ "Hawkeye to base. We're all done here. Area clear." ~

~ "Roger Hawkeye. Area clear. You are clear to leave the AO. New coordinates incoming." ~

Zara watched the gunship circle overhead. Then with a shake of his hand, the pilot spun her up and took off over the long desert sands. Flying her far, far away. Leaving all the burning bodies behind. Nothing but smoking holes in the sand.

Zara stood in the shade of the southern refugee camp's fluttering red awnings. Everybody safe. Everybody quiet as the calm. Not even a single friendly casualty. Mission complete.

The desert was silent.

I don't think it cared anyway.

Ugh.

Zara put in her headphones and clicked play.

Kark this planet. She was going home.

Location: Burning Globe Temple Ruin, nearby to the Burning Moon Range
Objective: Don't burn people.

Sera’s temple scene was a bit different from what was unfolding on the rest of the planet. After she had just finished burying her dead, a few raging mad shadow cultists had descended on what was left of this lonely old crumbling mountain top, hunting Jedi. Picking the bones of what was a shell or a memory where little remained to take.

They seemed to come with savage weapons as they ascended the steps, murderous intent not hard to sense. At this point she had fallen to farseeing once more, embracing currents of her future to understand what she must do right now. Kintan’s priestess was not a Sith any longer, she didn’t respond to their approach with fire and suffering, the death and sorrow she felt for her homeworld was carried like a stone on her back in the acts which followed.

Pulling the currents of possible futures, drawn forward, to the most likely outcomes and fates. One by one the cultists or monsters ascending the treacherous, thin mountain path were sent back down tumbling. Their feet yanked in the force to topple them from the twisting and winding steps. Natural winds of this place to the unwary or outsiders only adding difficulty to their rapid descent.

Though she much wanted to unleash a fiery hellscape, it was not what this crumbling old temple deserved in her parting. So she sent every cultists that tried to bother her in this graveyard back down the mountain path from where they came. Leaving a small heap of them at the bottom wondering which way was up. Eventually sealing the thin path with a large boulder or five, they could instead have the remains of the ghost town below.

There were no voices here for them to take.
Only the silence to which she returned to mourn.
Whatever they had come for, the battle was already long since done.

A Jedi's Life is Sacrifice.
"Never a dull moment," he commented with a baleful smile.

The girl was fragile at that moment. One push in any direction might send her over the edge, even after all of the attempts made to steer her onto the straight and narrow. With the way she had responded when he initially ordered her to run, he knew that she was far from disciplined in the ways of the Jedi.

But, he was no Master, and she was not his student. He could give direction and advice, but that only went so far. The Shadow ruffled Kyra's hair and closed his eyes.

"Perhaps we should leave the fighting to someone more mentally prepared for the task?" he suggested. Kyra was in no place for conflict, especially so soon after her last unfortunate experience. "I can send you along to be checked out in the Med Bay. There's no reason you should have to fight again so soon."

Certain the Jedi did not detect her presence, Vanessa would take a cloaked shuttle down to the planet. Once she had ensure the route was clear, she would signal for another cloaked shuttle to join her - one filled with Dark Troopers that would form clandestine cells of terror on the world and ensure that Silver Jedi control of it could never remain absolute. The Sith would come again, eventually. And she would have things ready for them.

Unless, of course, things ended up poorly to begin with.

It might be odd that Ra was even on Kintan, but here she was. She had joined in the aid of helping the recovery of the planet. She had heard the Sith had caused this and she didn't doubt that one bit. This was something they were very well known for. Having witnessed what they could do firsthand, she looked across the devastation here and could see their handiwork here as well. Shaking her head, she stopped down to start helping.

As a former Sith, she could say she hated the current government with a great deal of passion. Her life had been turned on its head more than once at their hands. The people here had the same thing happen to them and she didn't find it difficult to empathize with them. If only a helping hand had been extended to her, then she might not feel so hostile to the Sith.

Looking up at the sky, her eyes narrowed. There were no alarms going off. Sensing things weren't as they appeared, Ra just knew somebody familiar was approaching. Not a good somebody either. Lifting a hand to cover the light reaching her eyes to try and get a better view, there wasn't anything in sight.

Dropping what she was holding, she herself went stealth. Suppressing her Force presence, she disappeared from sight, sound and senses. Following the call of the Force, she waited in hiding for Vanessa to show herself.

So far, so good. Vanessa's shuttle slowly traveled towards the surface of Kintan, evidently undetected. The ship would land in a clearing, evidently a portion off the wooded area of the world where orbital guns had flattened the trees. Once the shuttle had landed, Vanessa would slowly exit the ship, looking around to make sure there was nothing there to disturb her. Hopefully there wouldn't be any serious issues - after all, she had come alone.

Not like something would harm her, right?

Riamah Riamah

Coming off the shuttle in front of Ra was a woman she had encountered a few times when she was with the Sith. She had even helped Vanessa accomplish something. Their last meeting had been when she still lived on Vjun and in Bast Castle. After they parted, she had said she would never be allied with the other woman again. Now it would be time to prove this.

While Ra did not consider herself a Jedi, she still allied with them. Her partner was Josh and he was the main reason why she stayed. Actually, probably the only reason. He wasn't here though so it would be up to her to try and capture this Sith.

We have an uninvited guest!

This was sent in a quick mental broadcast. Ra might not be a great mentalist, but she had the feeling Vanessa would be beyond her league. That woman never traveled alone and probably had a few tricks up her sleeve.

With the flick of her wrist, two lightsaber hilts appeared in her hands. They weren't ignited yet and the former Sith Assassin remained in stealth. She hoped to sneak up behind Vanessa and knock her out quickly.

By now most of the cultists had been subdued, the logistics fleet in orbit had dropped patrols and coordinated until every last cultist they knew of was captured or incapacitated. It had been a long, grueling process tracking them all down and frankly, Amadis was somewhat tired. Rubbing his temples and dropping the communicator on the board in front of him, his makeshift field hospital and camp all but used up for supplies. They’d worked on getting basic water and sanitation as Jessica Med-Beq Jessica Med-Beq had requested, but with the chaos from the cultists were far behind schedule of getting even those basics completed.

Long day. Alone and walking among the ruined streets, hands behind his back as he moved unaided by any cane, the subtle limp from his leg always present. He looked through the dust and debris, giving a heavy exhale. These were the realities they faced daily. The gritty nature that hardened body and soul. One day the galaxy would know peace, but he felt even in these less chaotic times that he'd never live to see it.

Armored and Armed as he always was, though the order was woefully under-equipped on Jedi Armor of late, Taiden had secured a few limited supplies for the Ambiguous Statement’s crew at least from old friends. Saber on his hip, medical gear and climbing gear in the wrist device, that device had a few surprises, but otherwise, he wore the usual equipment for fieldwork. Plus one simple fold-out shovel, because he was digging away stones from a path when he heard the call through the force.

~We have an uninvited guest!~

~How many and where?~
Riamah Riamah Kei's mind speak voice would be so faint she might even miss it if she didn't know him, and he'd barely hear her, she might do better using her communicator if she was revealed.

Uninvited guest. We’ve had a few thousand. He felt like replying, but shovel in hand, by this point in the day he was ready to clobber one over the head, in a very Jedi Master-y way. Kei was a distance away and wasn't trying to hide his force signature because Amadis was terrible at stealth anyway. He did not know who or what he was facing, from force plant to a gaggle of cultists but by the force that shovel was going to come in handy. Reaching out with his senses, he began trying to locate the new disturbance among a ruined city.

"Central. Amadis. need a sitrep, are those cultists contained?" He spoke into his wrist device, the MWD holoscreen flickering with either Jessica Med-Beq Jessica Med-Beq or whoever's face was in command at this late point in the day. He would not blame her if she'd gone to sleep by now.

A twitch ran through Vanessa’s hand, perpetuating lightsaber in one hand as she popped her knuckles. Her expectation was for this to be quick enough, and as such she began to head towards one of the local cities, her own Force presence being skillfully disguised as she moved through the woods encircling the clearing her ship had landed at. It was a rare time after all that Vanessa had gotten to use one of her prototypes - at least there were others out there in the event that she was to lose her weapon. The defenses she had encountered were surprisingly light, after all.

Very surprising.

Since she had to be revealed, the use of the communicator was pretty much out of the question. General troops wouldn't be much help taking in this particular thread anyway. Then again, if they were Rangers, they might stand a chance. Ra did not know what kind of men the Silvers had brought with them since she hadn't been originally planned on being here. Cursing under her breath slightly, she felt like she was going to have to do this alone until a faint reply came to her.

It seemed her message had been picked up and she smiled just slightly to herself.

Just one I can see. Vanessa Vantai who was once known as Circe.

The second part of the question sort of caught her by surprise. Where was she? Looking up at the sky, she was a merchant and should be able to tell by the stars and...who was she trying to fool?

How should I know? Sorry. Just leaving a clearing in the forest.

Passing along the name of the city she had been working in, it was the best Ra could do for Kei to find her. It wasn't like she was going to reveal herself in the Force for him to find. Doing that would allow Vanessa to also pick her up.

Receiving some updated info. Turns out he was closer than anyone else. While he personally didn’t have any rangers with him, there were wildcards back at base camp. Though they were older, logistic experts, medical staff and engineers these days. Older veterans of times past, grandparents or those in their twilight years. “Might have some trouble here, scramble what you can and follow my position. Amadis Out.” Though any help was five or more minutes behind him, and a lot could happen in five minutes, he turned on his tracker for them to follow.

Amadis hadn’t heard the name Circe in a very long time, but he had heard it, one of the few alive and old enough to recall. Circe had actually saved a good friend of his, Glade, formerly Natoline, when she first broke her back, if only she had been there the second time. That did not excuse a Sith presence on Kintan, but it did complicate things for him personally.

However, Onrai Onrai was disguising her force presence, so even though Riamah told him, he still couldn’t sense her. Never having the strongest force sense. All he could do was focus on Riamah’s vague clues. Bringing up maps of the local area on the MWD-1 to better find his way, he'd have to go through a couple to find the right one.

~Hang tight. On my way.~ Faint mindspeak to Riamah Riamah Jumping on board a local Silver Jedi speeder, he started it up and was soon headed her way at speed. Nothing special about the speeder, four-seater, open-top, silver-colored, no weapons but fast. It wouldn’t be long at this pace till he arrived, and Vanessa Vantai would be able to sense him every step of the way. The sound of the speeder could be heard long before they saw it, but so far no Kei in sight, he was doing a sweep of the local areas closing in.

Approaching a Forest clearing….

Initially, Vanessa had not been actively hiding her Force presence, but when Riamah’s call for assistance went out, she immediately focused on making her presence smaller, more nonexistent. Lightsaber back at her hip, she jogged further into the woods, popping her knuckles and readying herself for a fight were it to come. She recalled, as she had traveled to the world’s surface, that there was in fact a city nearby. Perhaps this would be an effective place to slip into and hide for such a time so the heat could wear off and she could appropriately begin her work infiltrating. For now, at least, it was a race against time - would Ra find her before she could slip in, or would she be able to slip away?

Well, she certainly didn’t know that Kei was also hunting for her too. This was going to be a bit more complicated. She had hardly remembered Glade Glade and her back being healed at her hands - such a minor incident in her old life. Perhaps she would recall it more were such brought up.
