Question Tef's gone. You're now the Owner of Chaos. Besides firing all of Staff, what's your first moves?

Change the site's official language from English to some dead language, probably Latin as it's cool, and then force everyone to use it. That'd be for anything on the site, and every discord associated with SWRP Chaos. Then make other sites associated with us do the same, and so on and so forth, so that we eventually revive said dead language. That way, because of what I had happen, we've just revived a dead language, if only partially. We'd become edgy and cool, or more so for some, and confuse the ever living crap out of people who are wondering why this dead language is suddenly alive again.

Then become famous and profit.

Drink for a solid week, because I swore I'd never stick my hand in that meat grinder again. Then, in no particular order:
  • Find a way to give minor factions some agency.
    • Give them a chance to own a hex or two.
    • Crowdsource mandates for minor factions that allow them to remain competitive on a smaller scale. A minor faction, by definition, shouldn't be able to stand up to a Major in the long run, but they should at least have a fighting chance of defending themselves.
    • Encourage PVE playstyle that will allow them to tell their stories without the need for the crutches used by major factions to maintain activity.
  • Partially reset and rework the Factory.
    • Any submissions made before the rating system will need to be reworked and resubmitted to remain valid. 180 day grace period.
    • Incorporate measures meant to limit power creep. Possibly in the form of reintroducing dev threads, but with an eye towards quality writing and RP over ticking a box.
    • Empower judges to say no in both Factory and Codex. It shouldn't matter if a sub balances a spreadsheet if it doesn't make any sense.
  • Rework the map game to allow for different styles of play.
    • Crowdsource new mandates that allow for PVE focus if a faction so desires.
    • Rework invasions to allow greater flexibility for both attackers and defenders during extended campaigns. One possibly idea is to require the attacking faction to establish a "beachhead" at the border of the opponent's cloud, from which all subsequent attacks must be launched until another can be established, and that can be overrun by defenders.
  • Stricter standards on OOC Machiavellianism.
    • "If you can't beat them, make their lives miserable OOC" should not be a valid strategy. Some level of metagaming is necessary, but being a dick is not. Leave that mess to characters.
  • Have a dedicated PR person on staff.
    • Optics matter when dealing with the community. There should be someone whose job it is to say "okay, this looks bad, let's figure out how to fix it." By and large, actual corruption and cliquishness aren't nearly as much a problem as the perception of them. If too many members of staff come from a particular faction while one that said faction is beefing with is underrepresented, it's gonna look sus. Have someone on staff who can recognize that and take steps to mitigate potential issues before they arise, and to handle damage control when they do.

Heh, should have @tegaand her list

Be careful what you wish for.
  1. Previously mentioned (Continuing to blame Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner )
  2. Free John Locke John Locke from Mechs and Spiders.
  3. Beg Tefka Tefka to come back (ran enough of these things, don't want the responsibility)
  4. Continue the site in much the same way the previous admins had, after all, it has gone incredibly well for so long. checks nose, nice and clean
  5. Bring back Anime playbys and avatars (sorry, but... yeah)
  6. Take a consensus on whether or not to allow canon character pics as playbys and avatars (I personally never liked it, but understand those who do. not just clone, Death, Dark, and Stormtroopers, but like Luke Skywalker)
  7. Keep the freedom of choosing whether your character is Force Sensitive or not, but have an admin "roll" to decide the level. (Not to limit people playing them, but to challenge just how creative they can be.)
  8. Let the factions stay the way they are, and the map stays the same but gives each minor faction one, and each major faction 2 "heroes" let them decide who gets this.
  9. Host a "Monkey Dance" party once a week just to drive Tegan Starfall Tegan Starfall nuts.
  10. Post a thread asking players what they would do if I was gone and they ran Chaos.
