Now, here are your race announcers, Fudd and Bweeb...

fudd_bweeb.png

"Heeeeeeeeeeeello swoop racing fans, we are proud to present the first annual Swoop Racing Galactic Tourney!"

"We're gonna be your race announcers today."

"I'm Fudd!"

"I'm Bweeb!"

"And we can't wait to keep you filled in on the action - so hold onto your hats, strap in your loth cats and eh--"

"--give yourself a pat, for tunin' into the first race of the incredible--"

"--amazing--"

"--literally out of this world--"

"--brand new, all exciting and utterly dangerous swoop racing tourney!"

"Let's get down to business, Fudd, these fans don't wanna wait a parsec longer."

"So true, Bweeb, so true. The inaugural first event, our starting race, will take place on the beeeeeeautiful Naboo moon of Rori, where the crowds have well and truly come out in droves--"

waving-flags-crowd.gif

"As you can see, the stands are packed, with fans clamoring for some more racing action in these trying galactic times."

"Sure got that right, Fudd. Nothin' like some organized chaos and mayhem, to help us forget the random chaos and mayhem!"

"So true, so true, Bweeb... not to mention Narmle City will look fantastic flying by at six hundred kilometers per hour - anyway!"

"Aright, today we have an amazin' line-up of darin' and thrill-seekin' racers - who are they, Fudd?"

"In no particular order, and with creative announcer license to craft an impression about them, we have:

Saraiya Darkstar Saraiya Darkstar - a mysterious rebel without a cause, maybe?
Candu Tabuu - a... weird little alien, who kept saying 'heyhey'
Arkyn Rane Arkyn Rane - a humanoid rose with thorns? Pretty but dangerous!
Iasha Rha Iasha Rha - a menacing looking Twi'lek, covered in tattoos, one for each of her swoop kills!
Ta'ena Zollo - another Twi'lek, and I saw her out back eyeballing the pit crew...
Hex Hex - another mysterious rebel, this one went to town customizing her swoop with graffiti
Hilal Vizsla Hilal Vizsla - a Mando, who's been told not to wear that beskar and is surely well suited to killing from the relative safety of a metal ride!
Joseph Torson Joseph Torson - an enigma wrapped in a leather jacket, I heard it's hutt skin...
Artas Tel Alam - a sinister looking Sith pureblood, definitely wouldn't want to cross him in an alleyway
Dani Stellaris Dani Stellaris - a blond humanoid bombshell - and not just her looks, she literally asked to put a bomb on her swoop!"

"So there we have it, a very exciting and varied line-up of racers, all of them in the running for the massive--"

"--huge--"

"--outrageously large--"

"--winnin' pot that equals a staggerin' half a million credits!"

"We're in the wrong line of work, Bweeb..."

"Got that right, Fudd."

"We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors:

The
Swoop Racing Group, dedicated to bringing only the best and most violent swoop racing to your holo-screens!

GalaxiCorp, a galaxy-renown company that innovates, manufactures and provides sentients with the future of tomorrow, today!

And
Xyoz Maji Xyoz Maji a respected businessperson, investor and entrepreneur - plus he has a killer smile!

Finally, an anonymous benefactor - thank you, whoeever you are!"

"Without them, this tourney - and the future of swoop racing - wouldn't be possible."

"Oh, there's some movement on the tracks, Bweeb... it looks like... yes, it seems the race organizers are ready."

"This is it, we're about to kick off like a bantha with a stun prod."

"Okay? Anyway, there goes the swoop inspector, it looks like all racers are signed off..."

"There's the green light, the race is set to go!"

"Cue the racing countdown in three--"

"--two--"

"--one!"

"Gogogogogo, let's raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!"

RACE NARRATION

Below, on the race starting line, the light sequence to begin the race counts down.

Three.

Two.

One.

The starting area is filled with the roar of engines, as each racer launches from the line, soaring down the straight of the first leg of the track...

Narration note: 72 hour round timer begins now, and Iasha Rha Iasha Rha has one (1) round to advise of the swoop being used, or disqualification will occur.

OOC note: This thread is open to anyone who wishes to observe or watch the race, all I ask is that you keep to 1 post per narration round (to avoid too many replies for racers to navigate between). Hope everyone involved enjoys the race!

It was all pretty exciting.

Candu Tabuu sat on top of the enormous swoop bike, the Rancor variant, and his already miniature form looked kind of hilarious. For the race, a makeshift cockpit had been crafted, before being attached to the top of the fuel tank partition of the swoop itself. Robotic arms extended in various directions, connected to the swoop controls and brake systems.

"Haha, heyhey, Candu gonna win-win!"

The little Anzellan was laughing and looking around at the crowd, before the race announcers noted the starting lights.

"Three, two, oneeeeee!"

Candu gunned it, as he twisted the robotic arm of the swoop throttle, and launched away from the starting line. He didn't feel the need to attack anyone, not yet, and instead focused on defending against whoever might start shooting off the line... but unfortunately, the throttle arm was a little loose, which meant Candu's start wasn't ideal.

Saraiya sat on her swoopbike, revving back on the throttle a few times, her spike heel boots firmly locked into the pegs. Her left foot was itching to pop the inhibitor clutch, as she surveyed the other racers at the starting line. This was what she did best, and she'd prove it. She was the best karking swoop racer in the galaxy, and those creds were as good as won.

THREE!

Sara tapped a button on the side of her helmet, and the visor came down automatically, the HUD flickering to life. Track layout, racer positions, swoop systems monitors, the whole shebang.

TWO!

"Oh yeah! You got no chance! Saraiya Don't Shiv!" she hollered out, a fist pumping into the air as her swoopbike belched flames out of the tail-end.

ONE!

She cracked that throttle back, popped the inhibitor clutch, and gave that damn swoopbike hell like it'd never seen before. She took off like a Mynock-Outta-Mustafar, blazing down the track off the starting line, an absolute blur!!

Swoop Bike Type: Mynock

"These guys will look good in my rear view mirror!"

Hilal quickly made the final adjustments on her Swoopbike, the turbothrusters roaring to life. She had the itch to race again and there weren't any Podracing events that were scheduled in the near future. So Hilal decided to participate in the next best sport: Swoop racing. "Hey Hexie girl!" Hilal said to her friend Hex Hex through her commlink. "No hard feelings when I beat you in this race!"

As the light sequence started to go down, Hilal revved up her engine. She built this bad girl as a last minute entry, but she was made from quality parts specifically by a Corellian Swoop Racer quality. Hilal managed to get hooked up due to her fame as a Podracer. The green light was shown and Hilal accelerated from the starting line.

"I PLAY TO WIN!" Hilal shouted feeling the wind blow through her brown hair.

Ivory Stroud, Donna of The Family, sipped a glass of wine as she patiently awaited the beginning of the race. In her other black-gloved hand, she absently clutched a small folding fan - which she'd been using to keep the mild humidity at bay. The wide brim of her fedora dipped low as she bowed her head, leaning against the railing directly in-front of her; inspecting the array of racers at the starting line.

Behind her, near the door to the private viewing box, two suited members of the Syndicate's professional soldiers silently stood guard.

Alongside The Donna, a select few members of the Coruscanti Mafia had accompanied one of their newest Associates to the Naboo System for both Business & Pleasure - placing a handful of bets and familiarizing themselves with both the track & the policies of the Swoop Racing Group. Saraiya Darkstar, their "rebel without a cause" indeed...

Ivory grinned at the accuracy of that statement.

Also present in the race was another familiar face - this one, from Denon, and one of Ivory's fellow Shadowrunners. The explosively wild & unpredictable Hex Hex had earned a small side-bet... but if it came down to a battle between the two racers, The Donna's loyalty would be with one of her own.

As the timer counted down, she reached out - gripping the railing. Her heartbeat pounded in her chest, thundering in her ears - adrenaline pumping through her veins. Three... Two... One...

Like a rocket, the Fuscia-haired rebel shot forward - accelerating in an instant.

Ivory let out an involuntary whoop of excitement, joining the countless throng in the exhilaration of the moment.

SPECTATING

Racer: Hilal Vizsla Hilal Vizsla

Corbin had never been to Naboo (well, technically Rori, one of the moons) before. He'd actually never been outside the Outer Rim. But he was still in his late teens, so it wasn't really a big deal.
He was here to see a swoop race. Not that he was an avid fan; he'd simply heard there was a Mandalorian participating, one he had not met yet. He figured he'd come and support his fellow Mando'ad and maybe introduce himself afterwards. He was always interested in meeting his brethren, having been raised apart from them.
There was no telling how the race would go, but Hilal Vizsla certainly rocketed off with a good start.

Artas Tel Alam craned his neck one way. Crack. And then the other way. Crack. Oh. That felt good. He slid the goggles over his eyes. Rolled his shoulders. The light of the sun glinted off his silver lightsaber, clipped to his hilt. The announcers prattled on and Artas frowned to himself.

Fools. He did not skulk in alleyways. If he wanted someone dead, he would approach them openly. Directly. To do otherwise would insult his character and his name. It would be an honest fight, if not especially drawn out.

Soon enough, he would demonstrate that to them.

The signal to begin peeled out and he gunned the throttle at once. The rancor's engines kicked and sent him off down the track.

Hex found Naboo to be a strange world, rolling grasslands and weird flea shaped creatures called Shaak dotted about. There was nothing like they back home on Denon, it was so quiet here. That was, until the speedway was active and all manner of racer and spectators arrived. Hex had arrived with Hilal, her little Scyk could never hope to fit her swoop inside, they were friends, but also fiercely competitive.

'...This is more like it...'
"yeah baby!" she laughed to herself as a nearby speeder coughed fumes in her direction.

"No hard feelings when I beat you in this race!"

Hex laughed as she slipped her visor down. "Right behind you isn't the worst place to be, with you in that yellow get up." she laughed again and stuck her tongue out as if Hilal could actually see it.

'...stop flirting and concentrate...'
"Oh shush you, you know i can do both."

She mounted her oversized monopod, it was essentially a pod racer engine with a seat and some steering, fast, but a little rough round edges, just like it's rider. Flipping switched, the massive engine hummed into life a blast of heat out the rear signaled it's readiness. Hex's long braids hung dangerously close to the hot exhaust, but Hex knew this beast well. She revved the engine as she watched the lights count down.

She hit the acceleration and lurched forward, not the best start, but no mechanical failures, right in the middle of the pack and well behind Hilal Vizsla Hilal Vizsla already.

Joseph Torson listened as the announcers went on with their usual commentary, introducing themselves, making a few comments, introducing the crowd to the various individuals and other related stuff. Torson chuckled as they mentioned him calling him an enigma wrapped in a leather jacket. Atleast no one knew his true intentions, as long as people saw him as a mysterious nobody everything could go as he saw fit.

Thus as he wore his
brown-colored helmet and a leather jacket with a blaster pistol, Joseph Torson sat upon his swoop bike ready to win this race and bring himself one step closer to winning that half-a-million. Three..Two...One. As soon as the signal went off, Torson immediately twisted the throttle of his bike and lurched forward. Many people were counting on him to win this series, and Torson would make sure he would not disappoint, not after what happened at Tython.

RACE NARRATION

"And away they gooooooo!"

"Oh wow, look at Hilal fly, she's goin' full speed out the gate!"

"Got that right! Most of the pack started strong, too!"

"Feelin' sorry for that little fella alien and leather jacket, but it's only the start, we'll see how they do!"

"I'm also surprised nobody is shooting yet, Bweeb."

"Yeehaw, hopefully soon!"

"And now let's get back to the action..."

Candu groaned as he tried to get the throttle to work, and finally - hopefully - felt like he had.

Worse, literally everyone, except two racers, were roaring away down the track. So, knowing that swoop racing was a messy business, and not wanting to let a single racer get too far ahead, the small alien reached over and grabbed the blaster-arm attachment.

"Pewpew, hahaha!"

Despite the rough start, Candu was loving it!

Speed 3+1 = 4

Rusty was the word.

Dani came here to race. She was more inclined to get her thrills that way. Being a combat pilot was one thing, but the thing it wasn't? Fulfilling. Racing was not a be-all-end-all of her career, but it was a good way to test her reflexes and keep her skills sharp.

If her brother learned what she was doing, well, he'd think she was 'wasting her gifts.' But here she was, on a rented speeder, called a Mynock and ready to go. The speeder was looked over by her and her droid, and a few others. It was going to be fine.

Getting off the line was the problem though. Kicking her swoop as the announcement came to go, she shook her head. Centering herself, not in the Fore but just in her mind, she kicked the throttle again to get it to finally take off.

Time to catch up. Good thing she went for speed.

Hilal had to roll her eyes at Hex's remark. "It's okay to stare Hexie girl!" She giggled. "I got you right where I want you!"

It was fun banter nothing more at least that's what Hilal kept telling herself. She had to admit, Hex's flirtations were getting to her and it felt strange. "Ah frack me!" Hilal growled looking at the track. "Focus!"

She had a good headstart as expected accelerating ahead from the other racers however, it seemed that one racer didn't take too kindly to Hilal taking first place. The sounds of blaster fire were heard from behind causing Hilal weave left and right slowing down. "Damn it!" Hilal looked behind to see a giggling chit head firing at her.

"Oh you want to fight is that it!?" Hilal yelled. "Don't be mad because I'm kicking your ass!"

Hex scowled at Candu Tabuu as he opened fire from his hulking Swoop at her yellow clad friend Hilal Vizsla Hilal Vizsla . "not cool little man" she said to herself before looking back at the path in front of her skimming low over two strangley dressed humans rolling in the long grass. No doubt talking about the benefits of dictatorships while the spiders crawled in her dress and the ticks tool their fill.

Next to her was another girl with bright pink hair on a similarly fast looking swoop. She hadnt met Saraiya Darkstar Saraiya Darkstar before but she got a feeling from her that they might have a lot in common.

Hex pilled on the accelrator again and their was a strange lack of feedback from the engine, from the vibration it felt like a flood, she had to ease off the throttle for a moment for fear of choking out the jet, it wasn't ideal and she knew she would quickly lose momentum. But it was early in the race and she had time to catch up.

"What in the feth..." she muttered to herself as she took off, a little puzzled as to why she was at full throttle yet somehow, this damn swoopbike seemed to be going half speed. Looking over the virtual gauge read-outs on the H.U.D. within the visor of her helmet, she noticed a few inconsistencies in the air/fuel ratio and the coaxium injectors. "Dammit...c'mon, you pile...we gotta go!" she said loudly, tapping a few buttons on the control panel, trying to get the fuel pulses in-line.

If this kept up, she'd be stuck in the middle of the pack. She was almost frantic in trying to get the karking swoopbike to cooperate with her, not really paying attention to the others like she should. She was practically single-minded in trying to fine-tune the damn bike to get the speed to where it was supposed to be.

RACE NARRATION

"Oh, they're roaring down the straight, almost to the turn legs!"

"An' someone's shootin'!"

"But they missed... still, looking forward to seeing more violence, too, Bweeb!"

"I reckon once these racers cross that mid-way point, things will get hairy..."

"Also seems Arkyn is out of the race. And now let's get back to the action..."

Narration notes:
  • 72 hour round timer begins
  • Arkyn Rane Arkyn Rane has missed 2/2 race rounds, and has been disqualified from the race.
  • Joseph Torson Joseph Torson and Artas Tel Alam have missed 1/2 race rounds
  • Candu Tabuu misses Hilal Vizsla Hilal Vizsla with his attack, Hilal takes no damage
  • For clarification to all Mynock riders: The +1 speed only applies to a roll result of 1, it is not a +1 on all rolls

The Donna watched & listened, gripping the silver rails which ran waist-high along the edge of the spectator's booth. She bit her lip, watching as Saraiya Darkstar Saraiya Darkstar got off too an excellent start... then seemed to flag within the first few moments. It was clear the fuscia-haired rebel was having trouble with her Swoop, and Ivory bit her lip.

"Come on, girl..." She muttered under her breath. "Get it together."

Flashes of light streaked out from one of the other racers; an attempt to shoot down one of the competitors, which missed. Ivory couldn't help but smirk; she knew full-well that was only the beginning.

The engine sputtered and stopped. Artas swore through gritted teeth as his rancor suddenly lost speed and drifted, smacked into the ground like a stone being skipped. Of course this would happen. What he deserved for opting into this standard-issue trash. Artas Tel Alam yelled something vile, kicked the throttle like it owed him money, and twisted the ignition again.

The engines responded with a guttering shriek and fired back to life, rocketing him ahead and keeping him from smashing back into the merciless dirt.

What a day. What a glorious day. And a lucky one for everyone else.

His spirit would have been vengeful.
