It occurs to Artas Tel Alam that he is - to use a purely technical term - dead last. This is displeasing to him.

He guns the engines. It may not be enough to improve his station, but if he could at least finish the race at all, perhaps the universe will be kind to him.

But he doubts it.

Torson watched as his shots hit their mark once more dealing damage to his target. Already starting to catch up to those ahead of him, he placed his rail pistol in his holster and proceeded to take another rail pistol from his second holster as his original pistol was empty and reloading was quite literally impossible. With his second rail pistol, Torson took aim and opened fire upon the same swoop bike in order to further slow down his opponent and further gain the advantage.

Having fired upon his opponent, Joseph Torson then moved forth to activate his secret trump card, a travel boost that would increase the speed of his swoop bike and enable him to catch up with his opponents. Thus upon pressing the black button that would activate the travel boost, Torson’s Swoop Bike surged forwards rapidly rushing towards his opponents ahead with the young racer hoping that it would be enough to guarantee a quick comeback in the race.

Saraiya cursed the damn swoop, having been fiddling with it enough that she ended up getting passed by a few of her competitors. She was not happy in the least, but she really didn't know what to do at this point. Taking stock of her chances, she shrugged lightly to herself, straightening up on her swoopbike, looking over the track and the others rocketing off past her. Adjust the intake just a bit, she hit hard down on the throttle ad gave it hell. Either she'd stall out on the track, or take off with with insane speed. Which was anyone's guess...

As her swoop had stalled the Anzellan finally struck true with a shot and of course it was against her. And to make things more complicated Ta’ena wasn’t likely to stop being a target. Two competitors had caught up to her, but they were neck and neck and they seemed to be plotting to team up against her. “No way!” she yelled at them and took out her blaster pointing it at the blonde racer and pulling the trigger.

“Eat dust blue-hair!” she called out to Hex Hex and she pushed her foot down as hard as she could on the accelerator. “You want a real date try and catch me. I bet you’ll just spend the whole race look at my choobies.”

Candu saw the others shooting at one of the racers, the blond humanoid, and saw the proverbial blood in the water.

"Ayyy, yeahyeah, shoot!"

And, despite the engine problems several moments prior, he started to fire with his blaster arm extension, even as he tried to twist the throttle of the swoop as far as it would go...

Jinking in and out of the blaster bolts that flew past her Hex laughed this was fun, everyone was losing their cool but Hex was keeping hers.

'...You should shoot too!...'

She shook her head, no, she wanted to be unnoticed on her big pink jet engine with a seat.

She was glad she was concentrating on riding when suddenly there was a misfire, causing her to lose power. "Chit!"

Despite the stall out and getting shot Ta’ena managed to keep things together and connect with a shot to one of her nearest competitors. As a result she was in the straightaway with a slight lead. That being the case she quickly replaced her blaster on her hip and lowered her head to try to keep out of the wind and get as much speed as she could. It seemed Dani Stellaris Dani Stellaris was getting tired of being shot at. And of course that means she would target the one ahead of her.

Ta’ena had been ready for this the whole race. She was running in front. She could afford to take a shot or two as long as it was not to some vital part of her swoop. It was all about speed now. She jinked a bit here and there hoping that any shots would hit something meaningless to Ta’ena. But all motions were designed to keep her speed as well.

Just as he had planned, Torson's speed bike surged forth, quickly bypassing one racer and slowly closing in on a few others, with Joseph Torson himself now in fourth place. This placed him in the perfect position to catch up especially now that he was back in the race and right behind the top three contenders.

As such, without hesitation the young racer would once more proceed to attack another opponent this time, unleashing a few more rounds of his Rail Pistol upon the racer right Infront of him, with the same intent of dealing damage and slowing them down. He needed to place more pressure on those ahead of him as he had no intend on slowing down or lagging behind. By the end of the first lap he would be in the Top 3, one way or another, or his name wasn't Joseph Torson.

The pureblood's speeder arced around the corner. He drifted for a moment, almost too close to the borders of the track, then gunned forward again.

Incredible how, with all this action, time seemed to be at a crawl. He spotted movement out the corner of his eye and glanced to his right, seeing he had come up alongside one of the other racers. Darkstar or something. Were their names really that important? They would be dead or out of the way soon enough.

He took one hand off the controls and unclipped his lightsaber from his belt. The red blade snapped out, inaudible through the rushing wind. Perhaps as eager for the bloodletting to begin as him. Blasters. Who needed them, anyway? Tools for the weak and inept.

His speeder swung up alongside Saraiya Darkstar. She might have just enough time to seek his wicked scowl before he swung the lightsaber down at the engines of her bike, attempting to slice them clean off.

Ta’ena and the blonde rider started to pull away from the pack a little bit. It was a relief for Ta’ena to maintain her lead even against the smaller faster bikes. Of course it helped that the blonde seemed to be the target of most. Which meant Ta’ena could keep her attention on the track, even though she knew that a few more hits and Dani’s bike was likely to give up the fight and require her to retire from the race.

If the blonde was taken out of the race that would make Ta’ena the new target for sure of the two racers on the big bikes and enough damage to her medium sized bike might give the small bikes the advantage they needed. And they weren’t even half-way through the race yet. Ta’ena needed to press on hard and fast now. Worry about the others when she had to.

So the ugly guy on the mynock was shooting at her! Screw him!

'...go-on! Blast him off his stinking bike!...'

Hex did not answer verbally, she had already made that decision and opened fire back at him. It never helped her speed but she needed to put a few holes in him.

Not her day.

She knew what she was getting into, catching up and getting ahead. It made her a target. But she didn't picture it like this. Swoop racing was always a bit of a rough stuff, but she wasn't expecting blasters more, come in, smash into another swoop and get gone. Shaking her head she was going to buckle down.

Pushing the accelerator, she looked over her shoulder. Now was as good a time as any.

Hitting the booster, she was hoping to put the pack behind her.

Just hoping the swoop held together.

As soon as Torson finished his attack, unfortunately missing his mark his foe struck back firing a few shots at him, doing his best to dodge the attack while returning fire upon the individual. None of them had taken damage so far so he had to be careful as even a single hit on his swoop bike would give whoever was attacking him the advantage.

He had made it this far already, and wasn’t in the mood of losing, he had already wasted his unique boost and still had a long way to go before moving into first place especially now that another opponent ahead of him had just used their boost to advance further. Nevertheless once that racer was dealt with he would be one step closer to victory.

Sara's swoop was now acting completely spastic. Silently, for what seemed like ages to the young Coruscanti, she contemplated what amounted to sheer bad luck. Sighing outward, it fogged the visor of her helmet but a moment before clearing up, and her almost tunnel-like vision suddenly started to fade away as she became acutely aware of her surroundings. The damn swoop was having some sort of electrical spasm, bucking a bit as it began to simply cruise as the engines slowly seemed to die out.

"...Son of a.." she said, wearing one hell of a scowl across her face under that helmet of hers.

And then, what seemed like from out of nowhere, what looked like a vivid red bolt come down from the sky like as much lightning. It genuinely shocked her, as the crimson blade of Artas Tel Alam seemingly tried to cut into her engines. Closing her eyes a moment, all she could do was hope to the Force she somehow made it out of this still breathing as she twisted back as hard as she could on the throttle, hoping to at least keep in the race somehow. At this point, finishing was more important than winning. As all of this happened in a blend of almost beautiful chaos, the swoop somehow roared to life and while she knew the damage was going to be pretty bad, she'd either be a smear on the track or rocketing out back toward the front of the pack.
