STRENGTHS
  • Mobile Hospital. The Solace-class boasts incredible life support and hospital capabilities. It is a fully equipped and staffed hospital in its own right.
  • Hardened Target. Dual-layer, redundant deflector shielding, ion cap drains, and uprated hull armor combine to allow the Solace to take a hell of a beating.
  • Continuous Travel (Hyperspace). The CD-NX Synchronous Array Navi-Computer uses the available holo-net and subspace telecommunications relays to calculate ship position in hyperspace in real-time, allowing the ship to travel without the need for navigational re-positioning checks.
WEAKNESSES
  • Lightly Armed. Owing to its purpose as a medical support vessel, rather than a combatant vessel, the Solance boasts lower than average armament for a vessel of its class.
  • Blind Spot (Baffles). The Solace features the same weakness as the original Venator-class, the aft section of the vessel. Weapon coverage is 270-degrees, leaving the rear vulnerable to attack. Sensors are also unreliable in this area, owing to the electromagnetic signature generated by the ship's own wake.
  • Unique Electromagnetic Signature. Corellia Digital vessels use a unique Hoersch-Kessel ion drive design for their main propulsion. The resulting engine wash is faintly radioactive. This electromagnetic signature was distinguishable from background cosmic radiation and allowed the vessels to be tracked or detected.
DESCRIPTION
The Solace-class Star Defender was a unique commission from the First Imperial Medical Services in 864 ABY. Constructed by Corellia Digital at the shipyards over Drall, the Solace was patterned on the success of the company's modified Venator-class star destroyer, which had been re-purposed into a corporate headquarters. Following along similar lines, the Solace uses Corellia Digital technology and automation to reduce the amount of First Order military personnel required to operate the star cruiser. Emphasis is on increasing medical lift capacity. To that end, the two bridge tower model was retained -- with the port tower retaining control for safe navigation and operation of the vessel, while the starboard tower was designed to support fleet coordination.

The hangar bay was expanded, in order to provide support to a greater amount of support craft. Triage and ICUs are located adjacent to the hangars in case of Code White or high risk patients arriving via ambulance shuttle. Additional hospital space is located in the primary drive section and the starboard tower. Hospital administration is located in the upper part of the starboard tower. The starboard bridge contains the expeditionary fleet surgical command center, which can be used to coordinate medical ships across multiple formations or take command of humanitarian operations requiring multi-ship coordinated lift.
