Kalic sighed as he slowly pulled the Starcrest around to land. He looked back at Jee as the droid floated out of her slot, and he could already see why... someone had asked him to come.

"Not again...." He recognized the swirling Force that he could see. Dang it! It had to be connected with him getting captured and having this fun little "curse" put on him with Alchemy. He looked around, hopping out of the cockpit before looking around. He wasn't about to test his luck on sending a transmission, so the Miraluka grabbed his Ravager and quickly got out of the ship. He looked around, sighing. He hated this. HATED IT!

It was too quiet. He just had to follow the swirl right? He started walking, not really sure what to do, and he didn't have a better idea. He then heard Jee whistle.

"I know. It's too quiet."

Ivixa nodded upon hearing that she would not have to carry her partner across, but her relief was quickly dashed when her ears picked up the sounds of heavy boots closing in on their location. As such, Ivixa immediately activated her energy shield, all the while pulling her pistol from its holster on her thigh, ready to defend herself if necessary. Unfortunately, she had no idea whether the weapon would work inside the strange dimension, but it was the best option available to her at that moment as her rifle could be clumsy in such close-quarters.

Fortunately, by the time the soldiers came up behind them, Ivixa was in the air, her repulsor pack carrying her across the stream with speed as the men raised their rifles. However, Ivixa moved like a hummingbird, twisting her body in midair to face the leading soldier in the group, before bringing her hand cannon to bear. Then, a pair of loud, echoing snaps sounded out, the distinct sound of the Huntress’ weapon firing off a pair of armor disruptor bolts, disintegrating two of the soldiers before they could squeeze the triggers of their rifles.

The other two soldiers immediately threw themselves into cover, thereby giving the Huntress the space she needed to accelerate towards the bushes, where an invisible rift was presumably located that would hopefully take her out of the rift’s dimension.

“I see it! I’m going for it now!” The Asa’nyx shouted, as she willed her repulsor pack to carry her faster with a singular mental command, angling her body towards the bushes as she did.

“Is any of this even real?!”

Kessia heard the shots, though she didn't really have a chance to turn around for now. Luckily, however, her companion also arrived soon and so they were both able to go through it. Because of her commands, she had to let her companion go forward first, so she let her go. All the while, she felt the rift close inwards more and more. The soldiers found themselves in the meantime as they began to shoot in Kessia’s direction.

As soon as Ivixa got through, Kessia also jumped over, one last minute probably. She could barely fit through the fissure. And there she landed on the grass as if there had been an explosion behind her. And there was pain in her shoulder, as if she had been hit, sat up and reached out, a bullet stuck in her armour.

"I think that was very real over there!" showed up the cartridge.

But whether they are in reality now has been a good question for now. The ruins were here, everything was similar to what they had seen before. Locally they were a little further away, at the place where they crossed, the stream was not here. As a test, she tried to see if she could contact the Eternal Imperial communication channel. She received an answer within a few moments. Kessia lay in relief in the tall grass.

"It works… We are at home! Did you manage to record any data over there?" she asked.

In naught but a second, Ivixa disappeared from the strange dimension in a blip…

Then, she reappeared in what she hoped was realspace, via a sudden translation that very nearly threatened her balance had it not been for her diminutive stature and fast reaction time, a trait all Asa’nyx individuals possessed. Not looking to waste time, Ivixa gave a mental command to pull up the sensor data on her HUD…

Before the Chameleon suddenly exited the rift in a blip, falling right on top of the tiny Huntress in the process, causing Ivixa to give a high-pitched squeal.

“Oh goodness…” Ivixa added, her voice slightly muffled as her helmet-clad head was buried in the tall grass, situated beneath Kessia. Fortunately, the woman could still look at the sensor data, to which she breathed a sigh of relief after a short pause. “I did! I got a lot! Mission successful! I hope...” She said in response to the Chameleon’s question about her sensor data, her voice still muffled.

“But...could you get off of me first?” The Huntress continued, extending a hand up to tap the Chameleon’s shoulder as she did, to make the woman aware of her presence, all the while deactivating her armor’s vacuum seal.

“The grass smells nice.” She added.

In the midst of great relief, Kessia didn't even notice that she had accidentally leaned on her companion. The grass was big enough and soft enough, not to mention that sensing other things through armour isn’t necessarily that easy either. That was the case now. So when Ivixa asked her to get off her, the shape-shifting agent did so. She laughed at the remark that the grass smelled good.

"I'm sorry, I didn't see you."

Only then did she realize what the other woman said she had managed to record data. She would have loved to have looked at that data, but since she did not really have proficiency and knowledge in physics, it would probably have been all unnecessary.

"Really? Great! I hope we learn more than the conceited armoured figure… would have seriously left us to die or lose forever?"

She asked, played in an offended voice, looked around, but she could no longer see the man anywhere, so shrugged.

"Let’s take it back to one of the researchers, or one of the droids dealing with it, hopefully they can give some answer to that… and I didn’t crush you, did I?"

There was a puddle in front of the cantina door.

Na'an found herself standing at the lip of the puddle, staring into it and gnawing at her bottom lip, feeling uncertain. The uncertainty was not new; she'd felt it from the minute Leigh had suggested this little diversion on their way to the meeting of Eclipse leaders a few systems away. The droid had described the situation--a colony disappearing off the map, no comms, no signs of attack--and that was when it had started. The uncertainty, like teetering on the edge of a cliff looking down, was weirdly familiar, so she'd agreed. Let Leigh draw here here, like gravity.

About an hour ago, Leigh had sequestered herself in the comms building, not even bothering to tell her that others would be on their way to help their investigation. Na'an had been left to her own devices, so she'd decided to clear the local residences, make absolutely sure there had been nobody left behind in the new ghost town. She had wandered, a little chill going down her spine at every half-eaten meal, every active holoreceiver, every little accident caused by something important going suddenly unattended. The uncertainty only grew at each sight, until the point where she passed an abandoned doll lying in the street and decided to kark it all. The cantina would be empty. Nobody in this colony would miss a nip of tihaar.

But there was a puddle in front of the cantina door.

Na'an bounced on the balls of her feet, inexplicably nervous and careful to not let her toes touch the water. She couldn't place what it was about the puddle that made her like this. It was, by all intents and purposes, just a puddle. A broad, shallow pooling of cloudy water, the kind seen on any curbside after a heavy rain. If Na'an stepped into it, the muddy liquid wouldn't even splash up to the tops of her feet. She could jump over it onto the cantina doorstep without even trying. It wasn't even an obstacle. Just a puddle. Totally normal.

Except...Chalcedon's skies were clear today. She'd seen that much on their approach to the planet, hadn't she? Not a single cloud in the sky, let alone the kind needed to make puddles worth of rain, and every other street in the colony was dry as a bone. And this was, by Na'an's own confirmation, an empty town. There was nobody around for miles that could have stirred up the water enough to cloud it.

And yet. There was a puddle in front of the cantina door. A puddle made opaque by swirling eddies of whitish dust, like the inside of a pearl lamp. Eddies that were, despite the surface of the water being mirror-calm, still moving.

As if they were being kicked up by something deep underneath.

Na'an hovered at the puddle's edge, her uncovered eye locked on the moving- but not-moving water, unaware that she was gnawing even harder on her lip. She hummed through her teeth, hands flexing at her sides, wishing suddenly that she and Leigh had not come here alone. If they'd only thought to meet up with Adelle Bastiel first, like they'd planned...
"You called?"

Adelle stood some feet away from Na'an and the puddle, noting the intensity of Na'an's expression and the . . . curious feeling the puddle gave off. Her arrival to the planet had been just as quiet as her approach. Eliana had been instructed to stay on the ship in case they needed a quick exit--or worse. Adelle closed the distance to something more reasonable between close friends, resisting the urge to wrap Na'an in a tight hug. It'd been a while since she'd seen Na'an in the flesh and at their last parting, Adelle hadn't been sure that she would ever see her again.

She watched the pale dirt swirl in the water, moving of its own volition, but offered nothing. The pull of the Force she'd felt came from here and when she reached out, she could feel something reaching out back to her. Curious.
