OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

 • Intent: To provide neuromedical care and limited combat augmentation to one character. This augmentation is already present in this character as an integral part of their design in another forum, which I would like to port over to Chaos with minimal change. I also intend to port over the technology’s creator, with whom the patient is extremely close. (Frankly, whether or not those two characters are ported will be decided in large part by the results of this application.)

 • Canon Link: Can provide video clip of Qui-Gon Jinn explaining midichlorians upon request. Yes, I know it's one of the most hated pieces of lore in existence, but it's what this tech is utilizing.

 • Restricted Missions: N/A

 • Primary Source: Episode I information provided on midichlorians, mixed with basic knowledge on real-world neuroscience and cellular biology (mitochondria)
PRODUCTION INFORMATION

 • Manufacturer: Irma Olanthe (Manufacture and installation of the prosthetic can be found here )

 • Model: Libeta (Leigh-Beta) Version 1.1 Neural Implant

 • Affiliation: Life Emulator Model LE-03

 • Modularity: No

 • Production: Unique

 • Material: Electronics, durasteel, and neuro-optic fiber

SPECIAL FEATURES:
 • Direct neural stimulation
 • Is programmed for both autonomic and manual activation
 • Passive AI uplink, with potential for active connection
STRENGTHS:
 • The Libeta neural implant was designed initially for autonomic neural stimulation, primarily as treatment for an ongoing mental illness. This autonomic stimulation, as long as it is not interrupted for a prolonged period, renders the subject wearing it fully capable of leading a functional life.
 • Autonomic stimulation was expanded to include visual data superior to that of the normal human eye, allowing for zooming and intense rendering of visual detail.
 • Manual stimulation of certain connections, using the programmed codeword “Babylon”, allows the patient at-will control of adrenal release. This release, resulting in massive adrenaline overdosages, is shown to provide a significant but temporary boost to the patient’s physical strength, speed, and natural Force Sensitivity, rendering a moderately capable former Jedi into something truly dangerous. It is speculated that a similar implant in an individual with a higher baseline strength would result in power that should be avoided at all costs.
WEAKNESSES:
 • Contains no internal defenses. Due to its intensive wiring into the patient’s central nervous system, improper removal would result in significant physical trauma to the brain, essentially shredding it and killing the patient nearly instantly.
 • Manual activation of the adrenal system is limited by the patient’s physical capacity to endure adrenaline overdose. Even brief usages result in debilitating side effects post-activation, such as migraines, difficulty breathing, and temporary inability to access the Force. As a result, activation should be limited to extremely brief time windows to avoid permanent damage.
 • Dependent on patient’s neuroelectric energy for power.
 • Due to its small size to fit in the patient’s skull, the implant has extremely limited storage capacity. It relies on a passive uplink to the LE-03 AI to maintain key programs, and cannot store visual data at all. It is believed that anything more intensive than a passive uplink would be incredibly dangerous to normal brain function.
 • Existing functions are caused by direct neural stimulation using the established wiring. Creating new functions for the implant would thus be extremely difficult, as it would require surgical alteration to add additional connections between the implant and the patient’s brain.
DESCRIPTION:

The Libeta (Leigh-Beta) neural implant is a singular prosthetic initially designed to fit a singular purpose--the treatment of one Vidalu Na’an’s burgeoning schizophrenia. The design behind the implant, however, is deceptively simple. Using a series of hair-thin neuro-optic fibers wired directly into Na’an’s brain through an empty eye socket (the eye already having been lost), the implant can send controlled shocks into her nervous system, forcibly activating some centers while neutralizing excessive activity in others. These miniscule shocks have all but eliminated the day-to-day severity of this condition, allowing her to resume her lifelong pursuit of the Jedi Path. In addition, the implant’s external face is designed to approximate the human eye, allowing her something closer to a normal appearance.
However, while researching the neuroscience required to install the implant, the prosthetic’s creator, the AI known as Leigh, discovered an interesting quirk of biology. This quirk, although little-known, is present in all Force Sensitives: Midichlorians. These micro-organisms, somehow linked to organic Force Sensitivity, were just as sensitive to adrenaline as any cellular organelle, allowing Force-capable organics access to extreme power in times of extreme stress. Knowing that her charge had a tendency towards finding herself in danger, Leigh made a few adjustments to the design and to her own programming, allowing the implant to exploit Na’an’s biology for Na’an’s protection at will--although not, as she quickly found, without consequence. Do you mind putting the video above the template, or cutting it out entirely?

Production:Singular--custom production
Put 'Unique' here.

Affiliation: none
If it's a custom order then it would be affiliated with someone. The customer or the manufacturer.

Manufacturer: Life Emulator Model LE-03, Codename “Leigh”
Is there a link to this somewhere?

For the Strengths and Weaknesses section can you put the separate point into bullet points? It reads easier that way.

Although Chaos' Factory doesn't recognize posts on another board as a legitimate manufacturer, if you were to swich the Manufacturer to the name of this character you're submitting the tech with, you can do a modification post after you port over your character and change the manufacturer then if you'd like.

Um, okay? I'm trying to get the tech approved before porting the character because the character is kinda built around the tech, but as long as I can modify the manufacturer once they're ported in, that seems reasonable.
