STRENGTHS
  • Pocket Star: The Sunfury is not your average pistol; propelling hellishly hot orbs of fusion plasma at significant velocities, the brutally efficient design inflicts extreme pain as it burns through flesh and bone with ease - your average combat armour likely won't fare that much better.
  • Reliable: It may not be able to stand up to blaster bolts and the like, but the Sunfury is fairly resistant to environmental hazards, EMPs, and the like and requires little in the way of maintenance.
WEAKNESSES
  • Close and Personal: Unlike more stable projectiles, the Sunfury's esoteric blend of fusion plasma starts losing integrity after a mere ten metres, with the projectile usually dispersing harmlessly after a hundred metres or so - or significantly longer in a vacuum.
  • Exotic Ammunition: Glimmersteel Fusion Cells aren't expensive, per se, but they are certainly unusual - you are unlikely to get their equivalent from your friendly neighbourhood arms dealer, that's for sure. Better stock up for a rainy day!
  • Kicks like a Mule: Given the contrast between its size and its yield, it should come as no surprise that the Sunfury kicks like a mule - it would take a firm grasp indeed to yield it adeptly in a single hand, with most users opting to use two.
  • Overheating: Like most pulse cannons, the Sunfury is theoretically capable of firing very rapidly - it is capped at a shot every second or so to prevent catastrophic overheating, however; tinker with the failsafe at your own peril, the warranty doesn't cover lost limbs.
DESCRIPTION
Glimmersteel's first proper entry into the military firearms market, the Sunfury is based on old Erakhian designs forwarded to the corporation by its new parent company - the general idea being to invest in firepower over, well, almost everything else.

A rather niche design, it is unlikely to be adopted by companies and militaries "overly concerned about societal taboos", on account of the extreme pain the superheated plasma causes the targets and the lack of any stun setting - it's rather hard to make fusion plasma nonlethal, after all.
