Baboon with a MAAWS
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
A new design which falls into the Crossroads Republic Fleet's new offensive doctrine by taking over the combat air patrol role for planetary assault groups from the Reliant-Class Escort Carriers, Illustrious-Class Carriers, and Courageous-Class Heavy Carriers. This allows these larger dedicated fleet carriers to be tasked to fleet units and maximizing capital units' capabilities against enemy forces and for allowing the lighter escort carriers to focus on their escort and patrol duties. Almost always-paired to a Faithful-Class Droid Support Carrier, their job is simple: protect friendly ships. These ships are designed to operate in squadrons of four with one of four Enforcer-Class ships operating as their flagship with escorting corvettes and frigates being there for protection. Their priority is to be the platform from which the main fighter wings of these non-combat elements are flown from. However other ships of the class will often be assigned to larger and more precious convoys and can sometimes be tasked to protect larger carriers whose starfighter wings are occupied with far-off combat sorties.

- Takes its base hull design from the Faithful-Class Droid Support Carrier, therefore it shares many of the same characteristics, strengths and weaknesses of its twin class.
- Massive cavernous hangar for long-term operations supporting large wings of droid craft whose mission is assisting ground troops.
- Bridge and living and crew support facilities are almost-entirely concentrated in the dorsal sections of the ship, with the engine spaces being in the stern, the bridge and control centers being towards the bow, and crew quarters and other facilities spread in the middle, away from the possible dangerous ammunition lockers, fuel tanks, and of course the noisy hangar and repair bays.
- Large number of communications suites and droid control centers for managing their droid squadrons.
- For their primary wings, "Viper Mk. II" Droid Starfighters, they have all the potential support facilities needed including ammunition loading arms fed from the ammo lockers, with cubbies for each fighter to be stored and elevators and carousels for lifting and dropping them into position within magnetic launch tubes that propel them out of the ship to port and starboard so that the hangar doesn't have to be opened in the event of a scramble.
- Large bays for "Sentry" and "Sentinel" Security/Combat Droids.
- Can carry spare droid craft for their squadrons (except for their "Darts") in protected crates due their large cargo holds. They are disassembled but available for replacing losses. A ship cannot use these craft in concert with a fully-stocked flight group at the same time because of limited space on the hangar decks.
- Its reactors, 8 SBRA-24 Fusion Reactors, are easily able to handle the needs of the ship, although due to the large hangar decks and storage for ammo and fuel they are more concentrated than contemporary Crossroads Republic Fleet ships.
- Built from large modular sections, allowing for rapid and simple construction and easy repair.
- The ship has an almost-entirely automated hangar to service its large contingents of droid crafts, and can execute a variety of tasks ranging from standard refuel-rearm-redeploy tasks to rebuilding entire craft for extensive overhauls or repairs.
- Retains the same standard of high-degree of excellence in its damage control measures, with every space and corridor having integral and backup fire-suppression foam dispensers and deoxidizers to control several types of fires as well as having ray-shielded and compartmentalized hull segments to prevent catastrophic venting or other types of damage. Damage control centers, while not as dense as the true combat ships, are quite redundant and the crew has access to all the tools they need to save the ship from even heavy degrees of damage.
- Ray-shielded and segmented fuel tanks and ammunition lockers alongside other large amounts of fire-fighting equipment and blow-out channels to prevent them from destroying the ship.
- Large and complex computer and transmitters for aiding in handling their droid compliments, these transmitters are quite powerful so as to help punch through potential enemy electronic countermeasures.
- Large number of internal security measures to help offset its small crew complement, including turrets, ray shields, and highly-redundant shields.
- Excellent platform for launching and maintaining large and watchful CAP's (Combat Air Patrol) along with a secondary capability to engage ground targets.
- With its large hangar size it can assist emergency landings from other fighters and support craft with its large hangars if they can't land at their motherships.
- Excellent damage control measures means the ship can take a tremendous amount of damage and be saved and/or salvaged.
- Large flak batteries can do an excellent job of protecting the ship against enemy starfighters and its large number of medium weapons are designed to engage protect against smaller frigates and corvettes.
- Excellent countermeasures to enemy jamming, although its droid craft are all fully-capable of autonomous operation.
- Can be quite easily-repaired due to the ease with which they can be built.
- Can carry spare droid fighters that can be brought up from the cargo bays, reassembled, and folded into depleted squadrons.
- Not a fleet warship, it's an escort carrier meant to protect large fleets of assault ships from enemy starfighters and bombers rising from the planet being assaulted or in general convoy escort.
- Large number of ammunition lockers and fuel tanks are a potential danger to detonation, even with the countermeasures in place against it, such a detonation can easily cripple a ship.
- Its reactors are more concentrated in the ship than in other Crossroads warships, presenting an increased danger of power loss if disabled.
- While numerous, its starfighters do not possess hyperdrives, meaning this ship cannot chase an attack which has broken contact.
- If it is jammed or is otherwise unable to communicate with its droid starfighters while they're on mission they'll simply complete their mission and then return to their standby orders, only adapting to being engaged or returning when they've reached their return-to-base fuel levels, they cannot be tasked new missions unless someone else gives them these orders.
- Slow and cumbersome in anything beyond basic maneuvers.
- A small compliment of dropships means that has very limited capability to dispatch boarding parties of its own, and doing so would the leave the ship without a large number of its marines and the absence of the dropships leaves them without more than three hundred seats in the event of an abandon ship order if some escape pods are destroyed or some crew are otherwise unable to reach them.
