PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Circular in shape and able to be wired into one another and stacked horizontally to maximize space so it can provide plenty of power to any size ship that can fit it.
  • Has a housing of neuranium to shield against radiation, ray shields, heavy armor in three distinct layers to protect the reactor from breaches or damage of any kind.
  • Ringed with powerful magnetic field generators.
  • Has three dedicated cooling systems, a primary pair of coolant drives and matching pumps and small interconnected tanks operating independently of one another able to operate one at a time in normal circumstances so that maintenance can be done to one while the other is running, and an emergency coolant drive with matching pumps and tanks rated to be able to handle the reactor's combat-level output, will usually be engaged when emergency power outputs are requested.
  • Four primary capacitors with linked regulators handles power regulation to the following systems (and groups of systems): Engines, Hyperdrive, Shields, and other less-power-hungry shipboard systems.
  • Four smaller secondary capacitors with linked regulators are layered in heavier armored housings provide backup and insurance to power regulation to the ship.
  • The reactor and its subsystems each possess a large and dedicated pair of control systems, a primary and a secondary, for allowing engineers to monitor the reactor at all times and have system checks operating at all times with automatic reactor scrambling contingencies built into the system to prevent meltdown.
  • The reactor possesses venting abilities to purge the coolant and the reactor itself in the event of an emergency, aboard a ship these materials are vented out into space. They have both computer triggers so it can be done safely and independent mechanical triggers in the event of power loss so it can be done with or without power to the system.
  • Has an independent generator powerful enough to kickstart the entire system in the event of a full system purge, material refill, and reset.
STRENGTHS
  • A highly-redundant reactor, with a secondary and an emergency contingency measure for all systems.
  • Powerful, able to handle some quite demanding systems.
  • Can be linked in with a diverse variety of other systems.
  • The coolant and capacitor systems can be linked with other reactors to further increase redundancy.
WEAKNESSES
  • Any small breach can result in a reactor purge or scram, and then the reactor is useless until it is pulled out of the ship and its reactor housing is repaired.
  • A reactor breach can kill anyone in the reactor room.
  • A coolant leak can lead to a reactor meltdown if the system isn't regulated quickly-enough.
  • When fitted into a ship the reactor cannot have any of its larger systems replaced without tearing apart a whole section of the ship and removing the ENTIRE REACTOR, it is not one neat package, it is a whole series of components with enough accessibility to effect minor and semi-major repairs.
DESCRIPTION
Designed to be able to power the next-generation of Crossroads Republic ships in context of the Fleet's doctrinal emphasis on redundancy and damage control. They are built to be able to power Crossroads ships with numbers of reactors so that a single reactor failure doesn't completely cripple the ship's ability to fight or defend itself the way it would with more conventional ships. The reactor is of the fusion type, so it is not nearly as volatile to catastrophic explosive meltdown as other ship-borne types are. However this comes at the cost of sheer power per unit compared something like a crystal-based generator or a hypermatter annihilator reactor. But it is more efficient in terms of the amount of space it takes up compared to other reactors of its power output. And on ships as large as the ones these reactors are placed on they can produce more power than other traditional one primary-reactor and one secondary-reactor ships.
