Teth had been fruitful. She'd found the people she was looking for and now she had a greater purpose in life. Thing was, while the Republic had been living out in Wild Space, they hadn't yet set up a home base. They were operating largely out of starships hiding in deep space, and several space stations. It couldn't remain that way, though. Hydroponics could only go so far. With Ever opening them up to other world's, they had discovered the agricultural world of Nadiem once again. And now? Now the current Chancellor and several of the senators were coming there to talk to them.
Jabir was tossing a ball back and forth with one of the village children, a youngster who was too young to even work in the fields. Some of the other rangers were busy securing the landing site, but most were relaxing. Nadiem was not a dangerous place, so they didn't need to worry much. Plus, a lot of the current members of the Republic were coming too, which meant the Rangers would have a chance to meet a lot of their fellows this time around.
"You think that Chiss girl from Teth is going to come?" Jabir asked, offering her a glance.
"Why? You got a crush on her?" Ever asked as she tapped the end of her staff on the bottom of the barrel she was sitting on.
"Maybe. She was cute."
Ever rolled her eyes and looked up at the sky, waiting for the Republic ships to appear. It was about time they started settling somewhere and stop acting like the old Rebellion. The Galaxy needed the Republic. It wasn't going to get it with them hiding on ships out in the blackness of deep space or in hidden underground fortresses. Ever felt glad to be a part of this change for them. She'd been looking forward to being a part of the Republic and now she finally was. It was a good day for Nadiem.
