Public Relaxation on Corellia

(Pre Thread Warning: This is a social Beach Thread. Don't throw your fleets here or duel to the death, I just wanna have fun on Corellia, ffs. Also, don't make it weird. I wanna do this partly to destigmatize beach threads. Just enjoy the sand and go surfing, y'all.)

Jonyna wasn't one for the water. In fact, she normally hated it. But there was something she found thrilling about it.

Surfing.

The idea of using a board, made from the same wood she would once used as a highway, now smoothed into a lifeline between her and the water below. Now it was the time, time for the Cathar to face the waves.

Cultural exchange was a fun topic for Matthew. He learned that many people relished engaging in activities near the sea. Eager to experience this, he journeyed to Corellia, armed with a well-thought-out plan. As dawn approached, Matthew began his work on the cool, soft sands, focusing on excavating a pit. In the center of this pit, he meticulously arranged dry, woody debris collected from nearby areas, forming it into an inverted cone shape. His next task involved hauling large rock sections he had found along the shoreline at sunrise. With heavy stones gathered form the shore line, he constructed a perimeter around the fire pit, enhancing its visual appeal and creating a nice barrier. Logs were next dragged over and set in place for seating. He paused here and looked things over with a smile.

These beaches had been some kind of extension of home, when Andrik Perris was a teen. Though his family didn’t live on the beach, opting to be situated a mite closer to the military complex, whose beachfronts were a security zone, there were bright, wild memories sown into these sands, of friends with whom he’d long lost touch, girlfriends he’d had, and all that they’d gotten up to, day or night.

Rik was half-paying attention to a loosely thrown-together game of beach borgleball while reapplying sunblock over skin marred by some lines and marks both long faded and somewhat more recent, and waiting for the sunblock to set in under a slice of cliff shade; the camaraderie between the young players on each team provoked a fond smile on his face. He’d been a little scrawnier back when he was that age, a decade or more in his past, but that hardly mattered. They all had been.

He was still watching well after the sunblock was thoroughly absorbed into him, and it came to be, as it always could with the ‘invincibility’ and carefree air of youth, that someone booted the ball a little too hard, sending it too far outside of their field of play. The ball came soaring his way, and he was quick to react, nabbing it out of the air and sending it back to the first pair of arms that rose and caught his attention, giving the oblong ball a strong, precise throw to send it on its way before one of these kids had the less-than-wise idea to tackle him and rope him into their antics, when he was plenty content to watch.

Rik spoke up, “Put a bit less into your kicks, yeah?” A bit of friendly advice. They weren't playing in a space that was anywhere near the size of a professional field, and a bystander could get hurt.

“Yeah… thanks!”

Rik shook his head with a little laugh as they all ran off to resume their game, and turned his attention away from the game to wander away from the cliff face and see what he could get up to, having had enough of a swim for now, already...

It almost felt weird being here.

One moment, she was the Sword of the Jedi, a leader of the Order, and now she was comfortably on her back, resting atop a towel to get a tan on some Corellian beach. With cute sunglasses on, her astromech cup beside her, and a book to read, she was able to relax a little. The war and having to take care of so many kids and Padawans was demanding, so every once in a while, she treated herself to a day off.

Of course, for a beach trip like this, her husband was very much invited to join her, too.

But for now, she sat alone and had been sunbathing until her senses picked up on something. Sitting back up, she let her Keshian eyes adjust, and looked around to notice familiar faces. Matthew of Valendale Matthew of Valendale wasn't too far away, and if he were to look over, she'd offer him a wave.

Then, her gaze turned, and she spotted Rik Perris Rik Perris . Something felt familiar about him too, but she couldn't quite figure it out. With a tilt of her head, she looked at him a moment longer, before picking her book back up to start reading. Watching people in social settings could be entertaining, but staring was rude.

Matthew settled comfortably on the sandy beach, his attention captivated by the ongoing game. He squinted at the peculiar object in play – an egg-shaped ball, an unusual choice for a sports tool. It was unfamiliar to him, bearing a resemblance to a lemon. "Lemon throwers," he thought amusingly. The game, had certainly caught his interest.

He watched the players with keen curiosity, trying to understand the rules of this novel beach game. As his gaze wandered across the sandy expanse, it landed on Valery. Spotting her, Matthew's face lit up with a smile, and he enthusiastically waved back, returning her friendly gesture.

"This is stupid."

Xeno couldn't help but muse this to himself as his sandals sank into the sand. A loose fitting trench coat hung from his shoulders, and a large hat covered his face just enough to conciel his identity. His bandmates had told him to 'go out and have fun,' since their fearless leader had found himself rather wrapped up in the stress of touring. They had gone off to do an interview, which he never really liked doing anyways, so here he was out at the ocean.

It was alright. There were just more people than he would have liked.

His attire was a strange mix of things, an open coat over a pair of flowery shorts and a white tank top, a large brimmed trilby and a pair of sunglasses. Luxar said it was a mix of 'incogneto and summer vibes' or something to that effect. It was definately not, and most certainly the last time he was taking clothing advise from a rock.

Regardless, here he was. Xeno sat down, pulled a juice box out of his coat pocket, and simply looked out at the ocean. It was nice to not be a famous person for a change. The half-Nagai always felt he had never deserved it anyways. Perhaps for a moment it all didn't matter.

He just hoped he'd be left alone.

Cori's grin was so wide it threatened to cover her entire face. She had ditched her usual outfit for a sheer lilac beach dress over the top of her Eransyr top with a matching bottom. She didn't bother carrying a towel with her, she wanted to feel the water on her skin for as long as possible.

Cori had been overjoyed to hear that a few of the other Jedi were organising a beach day. It was just what she needed - she hadn't been in the water for ages, and it was beginning to affect her mental health. So when she was offered the chance to go swimming, she took it, no questions asked. She didn't bother to find out who actually organised it, but she assumed it was the head of the order, Master Noble, who was reading nearby. That, or the others simply piggy backed off of her day off. It probably wouldn't be the first time.

Speaking of the leader of the order, Cori spotted her reading a book. She didn't look like she wanted to be disturbed, so Cori just gave her a respectful nod from a distance. Truth be told, she was a little intimidated Valery Noble and her husband. They were practically legends in the Jedi community.

Feeling that she could not wait any longer, Cori threw off her sheer dress and rushed into the water. Once she was deep enough, she let herself transform, relaxing into her natural form. Her legs knit together to form a stunning, multi coloured tail, and her arms and ears grew fins. Cori let herself just swim for a bit, enjoying the comforting, familiar sensation of being surrounded by water. After a while, she lazily swam out further where she spotted another Jedi out surfing. Smiling, Cori made her way over.

As she approached, Cori realised the Jedi seemed to be experiencing a subpar surfing experience. The waves simply weren't quite big enough to provide a challenge to the woman, and certainly not big enough to do any kind of tricks on. So, the Ersansyr poked her head out of the water and waved to the surfing Jedi.

"Hey!" she waved to her. "Do you want me to make the waves bigger? I can!"

Contrary to her annoyingly pink sister's insistence, Annika did not, in fact, burst into flames the moment a little sunshine graced her pale half-zeltron complexion. She still wasn't the sort to strip down to some tiny bikini and lie in the sun all day, but she did enjoy enjoy the beach. She lay, half on her side reading book that she had borrowed from the academy library. "Caro merum vas est, in quo continetur hostiae spiritus. Si manifestatio corporis ter damnatorum loqui cum animabus proditorum....

...sorry, I do that sometimes..."
she blushed, looking at Rayth Rayth and realising she was reading aloud. The two of them were on winter break from the academy, and one of their assignments was to come into GA space and scout out gatherings of Alliance personalities, not for any specific nefarious purpose, but just to learn and familiarise themselves with their potential foes. The fact that this trip was to the beach with her.... for feths sake, her friend, until he developed some kind of social awareness and got the hints that she was dropping basically all the time she was around him. She wasn't used to having to work like this, she was used to guys chasing her, first in school, then constantly dropping in to her social DMs.

"There is quite a few names around, my holo has pinged up a few of the faces." she held her personal device up, ostensibly to take a selfie, but making sure to catch a nearby bather in the background to allow facial recognition to do its job. "Hmmm... Cordelia 'Cori' Eldoris Cordelia 'Cori' Eldoris , another Jedi apparently, not seen that one before." she muttered to herself as she zoomed in on the picture of the pretty woman in the back her shot. "Huh, says she's a mermaid, that's pretty cool." she tossed the device down and picked up her iced caf, it was empty, damn it.

"Look at all these couples out today, if only I had a handsome man who might top me off." she laughed and shaked her cup, letting the ice in the bottom rattle to signify it's emptiness.

Rayth had managed not to blind anyone in the few minutes he'd had his shirt off. All lithe lines and bright white complexion, he had applied strong suntan to avoid burning like a crisp.

He had turned down Annika's offer to apply it because he thought she wouldn't have wanted to spill any on her clothes. Rayth had missed the point by a clean mile, once again.

Then the sun had become too much and he had put his grey shirt back on. Putting it back over lotioned skin and grains of sand had been deeply unpleasant.

Rayth had never been to a beach before. Wearing sunglasses that cut out almost all light, he could not see the appeal.

He touched the leather bracelet around his wrist. It wasn't his style, but a simple piece of krath magic that made it impossible to detect their dark alignment through the Force. Apparently that was a thing.

"Look at all these couples out today, if only I had a handsome man who might top me off." she laughed and shaked her cup, letting the ice in the bottom rattle to signify it's emptiness.

"Yeah there are a lot of them together," Rayth said. For the count of two he simply considered that Annika was highlighting their potential weaknesses.

"Oh!"

Penny dropped, Rayth stood up and took her cup.

"Another of the same? And surely a mermaid can't be a thing?" he whispered without a hint of irony.

Ko had never really been to many beaches before. When he was younger he was much more self conscious with his appearance. But these days he has mostly overcome such doubts. His blindness in some ways helped him not care as much about his appearance now. Plus his rambunctious Cathar Master had encouraged him to try and enjoy himself.

For a moment he’d been standing there feeling like a fool. He had wanted to fit in and do things beach bums regularly did, such as enjoy ice cream at the ocean. It wasn’t until after he’d gotten a cone that he realized it was a bit foolish. Ko didn’t want to wait for the ice cream to melt for him to be able to drink it. So he just handed it off to some kid to enjoy instead.

Walking along the shore he thought about what might be something fun to do. His mind was drawn to two ideas in particular. One was to try and use his earth shaping to make an impressive sandcastle. The other idea was to dive into the water to see if he might find anything interesting under the wave. Since he could ideally hang out in the vacuum of space without any real issue he figured the same would go for being under the water. Ko just wasn’t sure which one he’d wanna do.

Then again he could see about doing both activities…

It had been some time since she had last stepped foot in Alliance space proper.

Her own duties and a shift in her routine given the goings on that involved the Ashlans requiring she become more medic than inquisitor. Her job seemed endless however, starting from her own and moving on to those in need of help. A short break had been asked of her, and she had relented to the request.

Time given to herself to catch up with more current events. To perhaps see friends, meet new ones. All given freely.

It felt strange given what she'd learned after removing herself from beneath the rock she'd lived under for some time. Everything and nothing had changed. Conflict and strife, an ever shifting perspective that relatively strayed little more than a step outside the normal. Granted the books she had been gifted helped to take her mind off of things. Even if they were incredibly cheesy.

Melting the Chiss' Heart of Ice was tucked beneath an arm opposite her beach bag as she searched for a spot to sit.

In the process spotting a particularly peculiar fellow sporting.

"Is he wearing a trench coat... to the beach?" Far be it for her to judge people and their fashion choices. But it perplexed her enough that curiosity won against social norms.

The sand hot against her feet as she began walking toward the fellow with purpose. Close enough to gain his attention without blocking his view, she announced herself.

"Pardon, but. Is the sun, aren't you hot in that jacket?" Producing her own sunscreen with a ridiculously high protection value. "I have some sunscreen if you need it."

"Pardon, but. Is the sun, aren't you hot in that jacket?"

Xeno had to clench his nostrils to keep himself from spitting out his juice. He had been completely zoned out and had not expected anyone to just walk up and talk to him. Deep breaths. He just had to not look like a famous musician in a terrible disguise.

"N-no thanks," Xeno sighed, pushing his sunglasses closer to his blue eyes. "Sunscreen doesn't help me much. I've already got two layers on."

He was very pale. His half-Nagai DNA mixing with whatever the other part of him was did cause his skin to flake easily in the sun if exposed for too long. It seemed a natural explanation that kept his disguise intact. The artist looked up at the woman who had come over to speak with him, taking note of red hair and warm red eyes. She seemed young, but not a teenager. No, perhaps this individual was his age or older. That was a bit of a relief. One of Sithspit's largest demographics was teenage girls, though for all of his pestering Xeno could never get Luxar and Klocto to tell him why. Perhaps it was just Core World culture. Regardless, it decreased the odds of being recognized.

Or at least he hoped it did anyways.

"I appreciate it though," he added. "Corellia isn't really a polite planet. I'll take the kindness where I can get it."

No, those Corellians were an odd breed indeed. Sithspit had a draw here because of the moody themes of their music, but that was always a double-edged sword. People here were crass, brazen, and often rather confrontational. It was the culture of pilots and scrappers ultimately, one that was resiliant, but rough on the outside. It certainly was one of the planets of all time.

"I'm X... Xim (Z-im)," the half-breed introduced, nearly dropping his own name on accident. "Yeah. Xim."

Why had he done that? Introductions progressed conversations. He couldn't help but die internally as he realized he had just extended the length of this interaction tenfold.

He was going to be here a while.

The explanation of the two layers made her frown. More clothes in the sun wouldn't help him like he had guessed. Staring at his exposed legs before looking back to him with concern about his way of thinking.

"Um. Your. Your legs are exposed." Holding her smile politely still as she knelt down to see him better. The sunglasses hid his eyes, and his pale skin didn't mark him out as Corellian. Then again he spoke of Corellia as if a tourist, which didn't help her really.

"Corellia has some fine people, but I have found other places to be more, polite. Visiting Corellia usually isn't terrifically high on my priority list." She didn't want to speak ill of anyone, but Corellia did have its less than stellar tendencies.

But it also had warm and caring people that made the planet bearable. To a degree. A very specific degree. The man before her seemed undecided on his own name, and had it been another time, she might have not let the matter drop. As an Inquisitor for the Ashlan Crusade, internal reviews and external hunts had been part and parcel of her job. Today however she let a heartbeat pass before she replied, a faint grin across her face.

"Xim? Amusement clearly on her face as the grin widened. "Millia. If you accept the sunscreen and put some on your legs I will let you be."

System: Corellia
Mission: Two days liberty
Attire: Cheesy Shirt
Shorts
Equipment: Cooler with bottles and ice (see image below)

UupUsk8.jpeg

Danthem scratched at his arm, the tiny grains of sand already starting to find their way onto his tan-oiled skin or well more precisely sticking to the dark hair coating his body. He had already abandoned his shoes back at the edge of the golden expanse and, the thin warm grains running in between his toes with each step he took. The pilot reached up from his arm to pull up his shaded glasses and stared across the sands to where yellow shifted into a crystal blue. The man seemed to stop and simply stare out at it for a few more moments, living in that moment while it lasted.

When his gaze shifted he noticed the Borgleball game going on a little further down the beach and set off for the action while sighing slightly at the heat.

"Sheesh" he muttered and squinted his eyes slightly while padding on through the sand. He fumbled with a few more of the buttons on the tacky and slightly too-loose shirt he had bought from an old guy more sun-soaked than half the rocks on this beach. Now that he had started to sweat slightly the cheap material didn't feel as premium as the salesman had made it sound. Still, he guessed it still beat trying to wander around in his flight jacket.

Eventually, the lieutenant dropped down the cooler with an audible clinking of bottles. He pulled out the gym towel that he had 'borrowed' from the Alliance naval station he had been dropped off at. With a quick flick up into the air the material unfurled before catching the wind slightly and spread out into a white square and plopped himself down onto the top of it. Leaning back he could feel the rays of sunlight run up his body and the slight breeze cooling the worst of the heat into a pleasant warming.

His comm started to buzz and brrrt again, no doubt some other administration task he was supposed to be doing on his couple of days off. He thumbed the thing until it stopped making a sound before lobbing it lazily into the sand next to his cooler. Speaking of which he sighed and tensed his core to sit back up cracked the top open and fished one of the green glass bottles from the slowly melting chunks of ice he had managed to scramble together after filling up a couple of hydration packs and flash-freezing them on the coolant tank of a land speeder. Still, it seemed to do the trick as he twisted off the cap and wolfed down a long mouthful of the fizzing amber liquid kept within. Pressing the cool bottle to his forehead brought a smirk to his lips. Only what twenty years til retirement? That was doable. Maybe he would come back here and just live on the beach like the old roadside seller.

He sat watching the ball game with the rest of his bottle before jumping up and jogging over towards them. The ball seemed to go out of play and land within his general vicinity allowing the ex-farmboy to scoop up the egg-shaped ball and cocked his arm back as if he was to overhand throw it back to the nearest of the players. He was a little older than what looked like teenagers playing the game but hell he hadn't played ball since candidacy school and he wasn't going to miss out on the chance here.

"Go long!" He shouted before shooting the ball forward back into the game before dropping into the team that seemed to have the least players and was down by three goals.

They went back and forward for a few sets, the kids seemingly far more adept at the game than he was, especially so in the sand. Even when he had the ball they seemed to have little trouble blocking most of his throws. Power wasn't his issue but accuracy was another matter entirely. They reset and the other team seemed to drive forward, dodging and dancing around Danthem as he kicked up sand doing his best not to fall over let alone make any kind of block.

"Wooh, how's that one!" They cheered as the ball was once again driven into his team's goal.

"Yeah yeah, twenty credits you wont stop this next one." He retorted and scooped up the ball from the goal. He moved a hand up into the air to usher his team to move up the pitch. Dan swept the sand from the ground around his feet and set the ball for a kick. He brought his gaze down to the ball, steeling himself as a breath ran from his nostrils. He focused and stepped backwards to give himself a run-up before charging forward and throwing his weight behind the kick. There was an audible thump as the top of his foot connected with the thing and transferred the built-up momentum in nothing more than a few moments. The egg took off. Launching upwards, soaring into the air like a missile. It soared and soared... and soared.

"Oh... kark" he muttered as the ball seemed to keep going off the edge of the playing field they had set up for themselves, veering wildly off course in its doomed parabolic arc. Being a fighter pilot he was pretty good with geometry, it became sort of inherent after a while, and he let his mouth open again as he saw that the ball was now on a collision course with the general area of the two figures ( Matthew of Valendale Matthew of Valendale and Valery Noble Valery Noble ) he had seen waving at each other earlier.

"Double kark." He said again as the ball turned onto its downward trajectory and started to frantically wave his arms at them.

"Yeah, Xim," Xeno frowned.

What made it so amusing? Folks in the Tion Cluster loved to name their kids Xim after that despot fellow who got his ass handed to him by the Hutt Empire thousands of years ago. It seemed a believeable enough name, as long as you ignored the hickup that it took him to get to that name.

The woman insisted that he use sunblock on his leg, making it very clear that if he didn't she was fully intent on continuing to bother him. A sigh escaped from his chest as he tilted his head back, pulling his hat down a little more over his face. So much for relaxing. Now he had to navigate this minefield of an interaction that he hadn't even been trying to stumble into. He was not good at this sort of thing whatsoever. The man took a sip from his juicebox before speaking again.

"I'm not gonna be able to convince you otherwise, am I?" he guessed.

She didn't let the amusement float along for too long. He was already dancing along the edge of exasperation at her persistence . And he was doing his best to minimize interacting with her. But even with his hiccup in naming himself, she couldn't overlook the lack of skin care. That was purely unprofessional.

And maybe an excuse to linger.

Her other hand settling in as a cushion for her chin as she waited for him to finish his sip of juice. She did have to admit the idea of carrying stuff in a jacket was more appealing. But this was also the beach, surrounded by hot sand, with water reflecting light. And the only part he'd missed where his legs.

"I would say sorry, but I'm not. So no. You won't be able to convince me otherwise Mr. Xim." She was still deeply amused, and was trying her best to not express it. No wonder people always seemed to linger and ask questions while she worked. This was fun.

"But it will make me go away faster. And give me less time to think of questions."

"Thaaanks" Smiled Annika as Rayth got the message and took her empty caf cup. She laughed when he made the comment about the impossibility of mermaids, but she couldn't quite tell if he was joking or not. She caught herself watching her friend walk away and smirked to herself, unconsciously grabbing the now healed fold of her elbow where he had needed to feed on their first mission together. She pulled her personal device back out and started flipping though her feed, she hadn't posted any images from today, it wasn't really in keeping with the vibe of her channel, but she stuck a little text only message out before putting it away again.

The first paragraph of the next chapter of her book specifically warned against reading the passage in proximity of the recently deceased. Annika doubted there were any right here, but the sea was a harsh mistress and a keeper of many secrets, plus reading about necromantic rites within earshot of a bunch of Jedi would hardly be the best way to improve her day. So she slid that away too.

Annika sat silently for a few moments looking at the sea and considering her options, the urge to get in was too much, she had to do it. The teen unbuckled her jeans and slid them off, folding them into a neat pile beside her towel and her bag. She grabbed the sunscreen and quickly applied a healthy coat to both if her pale pink limbs and was just finishing when Rayth returned with her Caf. "Thanks!" she said glancing to the floor next to her as she creamed her legs. "You know what, if I were a mermaid, I would find the first sea Sith I could find and trade them something for a kick ass pair of legs." she laughed and sat up, placing her signature hat back onto her head. She didn't plan on swimming, so this partial disrobement would be plenty, but from the effort of suncreaming her pale legs she now wasn't sure if she could be bothered with the sea. She rolled her eyes at herself and picked up her Caf, taking a long slug though the straw.

"I'm thinking of going in the water, want to come?"

"That's alright," said Rayth, sitting back down. She was less clothed than when he had left which came as something of a surprise.

People didn't thank him for things at the academy. It was a real o strict hierarchy and tradition. Those with power dictated and those without did as they were told. He offered Annika a small smile.

"I'm thinking of going in the water, want to come?"

Only when she asked this, did he catch up on the previous comment. Rayth wasn't very good at this.

"Oh, I think you've got kick-ass legs already!" Rayth said. He was hardly going to earn points for such a delayed reaction.

"You know I wouldn't mind washing off some of the sand," Rayth said. He stripped down to a plain pair of swimming short. Between the two of them, they could have blinded someone standing at the wrong angle with their pale complexions.

"Let's go," he said, offering more than baseline Rayth levels of enthusiasm as he stood up and offered his hand.

"But it will make me go away faster. And give me less time to think of questions."

"Fine," Xeno sighed, holding out his hand. "Hand it here."

Most would be embarrassed by being treated like a kid as a fully grown adult. Xeno was just bad at interacting with people. He wasn't equiped to handle being bothered to this degree, and pretty much every resolve he had completely shattered. The less he talked the less likely he was to dig himself a hole he couldn't come back from. Pretty much anything that danced close to his identity was not something he wanted to discuss, not when there were people in earshot that could hear who he was.

But then again, if the topic came up there was no way Xeno could deny it. He was a terrible liar.

"You're not... already thinking of questions, are you?" he asked.

The less time it took for him to get that sunblock on his legs the less she'd ask. It was a race against the clock.
