Species Human
GenderMale
Height 181cm
Weight 74kg

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Danthem has a blackish brown head of hair slowly regrowing from the academy shaving. His eyes were a deep brown set among darkened sockets from a lack of consistent sleep. Clean-shaven and with angular features his face was pale in comparison to the darkness of his other features but not particularly anything to marvel at.
As for the man's style of dress he is usually outfitted in either his uniform or flight suit when on duty. Off duty, he tended to sport a relaxed set of pants, button-up shirt and the brown leather flight jacket unanimous with the profession of flying snub fighters at high speeds.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Confidence is all but a requirement among pilots, yet among those who fly fighters there are a few more. With something to prove and after being cramped up in school after school for so long Danthem is Energetic, Sharp and Professional on the flightline. As for in the ready room he had a reputation of being a bit of a handful at the academy. Pranks, banter and the common ego found around those who are only ever one mistake away from turning into a fireball were all part of his nature.

As for his beliefs on politics, he has always believed in the mantra of 'you do you' and is generally opposed to those who might try to enforce their will on anyone else.

STRENGTHS

Sensor Wizard: His youth, programming and managing the various farming droids of his family's estate gave a vent to his almost obsession with the wild world of data interpretation and programming. It turns out starfighters have some pretty cool sensors too and many more applications than spraying crops.

Human GPS: Scipios has a particular talent for situational awareness. He seems to be able to keep up a constant state of where he is in space with regard to other objects. It seems to have come in particularly useful when navigating or holding formations with other starships.

WEAKNESSES

Something to prove: Dan has been out of the frontline fleet for quite a while. In that time he has built up a need to prove himself within a combat squadron. As such he pushes himself up to the limit and at times past it. Going too far might be a lethal flaw.
Up close and in trouble: The pilot is exactly that. While no slouch with a blaster carbine or pistol, when it comes down to fisticuffs Danthem is very much unable to back up his mouth when it comes down to it. Something he doesn't seem able to learn with each bruised hangover.
HISTORY

Born to a pair of working farm owners on the Outer Rim planet of Bandomeer, Danthem had a relatively ordinary upbringing. He and his siblings had to work relatively hard in their youth and didn't have all that much in the way of high living but they rarely went without the necessities. Danthem stood out from his siblings and peers with a knack for technology, always tinkering with the worker droids to try and find a way to do his job better and somewhat faster for more free time off the farm.
His favourite moments of the seasons were after the harvest. Loading up the grains to be transported to the local spaceport. Watching the ships come in and out, the noise of engines and the smell of burning fuel seemed to talk to him in a way that farming just never could.

His sights from then on set squarely on doing whatever it was he had to do to get into the cockpit of a starship. Yet being from the outer rim and with no real connection to any military or civilian organisations of that variety, Danthem figured he would have to up and leave his familial holdings and head out into the wider galaxy. Sadly for the young man and being the eldest of his siblings, it was not so simple. He was needed at the homestead until the family could either afford local labour or one of his youngest siblings grew old enough to take his place. He relented and worked on the farm for another three years as his friends started to leave one by one, even his teenage romance left for one of the regional academies.

By the time his last season rolled past, the harvest was due to be sold. With the grain shipment loaded up, Dan hopped on board and made off on the destiny that he had been dreaming about every lonely night on the ranch. He went as far as the nearest Alliance recruitment office and signed on the same day. From there things seemed to move so fast that his old life quickly started to feel like a lifetime away.

After his various medical exams and extensive aptitude testing the budding ensign got assigned to his officer candidacy school. The endless drilling and physical training pushed the farmer out of his comfort zone. However, the academic learning was fresh and new to him. The drips of knowledge he was able to pull out of whatever books made their way out to Bandomeer was now an open faucet and he was very much a sponge. He eventually graduated and pushed forward, being streamed to the flight academy.

At flight school he suddenly found the academic edge waning as the syllabus became increasingly more technical and the chopping block only ever a few failed check-flights away. Long days of briefing, studying, lectures and flying were followed only by long nights of trying to memorize the scrawls of data on whatever upcoming test was up next. He knew graduating below the top quarter of his class would likely see him not make fighters and he really didn't want to get stuck flying dropships for the rest of his career. So he worked his behind off to graduate fourth out of his class of fellow officers.
His dream was becoming a reality and yet all good things seemingly required for him to have to wait. Much to his horror the freshly minted Jr Lieutenant Scipios and his wings were retasked with the other top five students of his class to stay behind as instructors at the academy. As such he would spend the next year and a half teaching the next batches of recruits how to fly the training ships and going over the basics again and again and again.

Finally after waiting what seemed an eternity and now three years into his twenties the pilot was able to quite literally spread his wings and went on to the X-wing operational conversion unit. The feeling as he strapped himself into the cockpit and ran his hands over the starfighter's throttle and stick made all of the years of training worth it. Even still, the OCU was no joke and training was taken just as seriously as the weekend parties at the officers club. His personality and propensity for practical jokes as well as the local spirits seemed to land him in trouble more times than once.
After passing out of the conversion unit and then a short stint at the electronic warfare school Danthem was finally dispatched out for tasking to his first frontline squadron.
