ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Highly advanced ECM cyber warfare and malware suites to provide additional support and protection for smaller warships under it’s care.
  • Fire control ties directly into the flight control computer for the starfighters that dock in the hangar bay. This allows the point defences and starfighers to exchange support with each other seamlessly when screening enemy fighters or ordinances.
  • Advanced heat management systems and power to keep up sustainable fire from the double barbet turret-mounted Big Cat Gatling Lazer Cannons.
  • Ram-Bow for ramming enemy warships.
  • Expanded forward internal marine garrison for boarding/repelling actions. Link: Elysium Empire Navy Marine Corps

STRENGTHS
  • Knife-fighting range. Extremely effective in close quarters combat at the expense of long range gunnery.
  • Firewall compartmentalization. When sections of the ship are damaged or destroyed, the rest of the ship is (usually) protected from cataclysmic chain reaction explosions. Even crippled, Rectifier class heavy cruisers are capable of coming home most of the time. If not, it’s not unreasonable to expect to find survivors in a drifting wreck of this ship.
  • Forward focused protection. Armor is heaviest from a forward angle.
  • Hard to hit on approach. Forward Heavy ION cannons are designed to splash ION radiation all over enemy targeting/sensor equipment to throw off enemy long range gunnery. ECM systems also work to spoof targeting telemetry, making this ship even harder to hit.
  • Excessive Point-defence measures. An overabundance of Mangy Cat Defence Turrets and Big Cat Gatling Lazer Cannon turrets protect this ship from strikecraft and physical ordinance weapons.

WEAKNESSES
  • Tight Hangar space. Internal systems, including power grid, heat ventilation, power supply, redundancies, maneuvering systems etc. are so robust and extensive that very little room was allocated for fighters or support craft.
  • Defecate or get off the pot. This ship is not designed to lob long range shots at enemy forces all day and must choose between full frontal assault or retreat.
  • Just hanging around all day. This ship is not capable of landing planetside due to the forward “hammerhead” spire. When it makes birth or seeks drydock repairs, a space facility is required.
  • Aft protection. Only average protection in the aft armor of this ship.

DESCRIPTION
The space frame on this ship combines the success of the Val Khaar-class Corvette and the Makashi class light cruiser to create a heavy cruiser. In addition to the previous Elysium designs, an ancient-yet-efficient hammerhead configuration was implemented since that design has proven itself throughout history time and time again. This is the Elysium Empire’s take on that configuration.

In making synergy closer to completion for the Elysium Empire, the Rectifier Class Heavy Cruiser was built to act as the ultimate vanguard of the Elysium Battleline Synergy Project. In stark contrast to the Makashi class light cruiser - which is designed to hang back and lob sniper shots at the enemy for long periods of time - this heavy cruiser is designed to be the absolute opposite. It is designed to get right up in the enemy’s personal space and shatter lines like tissue paper and throw the enemy into chaos. Once chaos ensues, this ship is in its element with short range heavy composite turbolazers that shred anything in range with full broadside firepower on both sides of the ship. Keep your distance.

The forward ION canons are usually configured for long range and disruption of enemy sensors. The armor is laid out for frontal assault. Point defenses are laid out for exceptional 360 degrees coverage. Composite turbolazers are suited to shredding large space frames at close range. But the nastiest piece of hardware on this ship is the beskar armoured “ram-bow” at the front. This ramming weapon was tested out by plowing through a 10 km wide drifting asteroid made of pure ice at full speed. The ice cracked in half and the ship barely broke stride.

Since this ship likes to get right ugly in the enemy’s face, an expanded contingent of Elysium Marines is stationed on these ships to mitigate the threat of boarding action. The Marine garrison is positioned beside the Ram-Bow for repelling boarding and mounting assaults once openings in the enemy’s hull are created by the ram-bow. This tactic is often referred to by Elysium officers as “little snake protocol”.

The bridge is a truncated pyramid superstructure in the dorsal side of the ship. This structure is sturdy and well armoured for brawling gunfights, but even still, there is an auxiliary bridge deeper inside the hull for redundancy.

This ship is designed to disperse hundreds of proximity mines behind it in a retreat to slow down pursuers, or to leave a shattered battle line in ruin.

Lastly, production is scheduled to have one of these ships made for every Makashi class light cruiser to balance the Elysium Empire Navy.

Upon the destruction of MandalArms Corporation, Mandal-Elysium Arms took over that particular contract with near perfect replication of results. But because the technology for the MAI-1 Defense Turrets was lost, Viken Dobson Viken Dobson designed an improved weapon to not only replace the old technology, but make it entirely better. The new Mangy Cat Defence Turrets are faster, more accurate, and more versatile in point defense.
