Dominion Ophideraan The Schedule | GA Dominion of Ophideraan

LlDDs0A.png

As the traces of the purple veil all but disappear, the Starbird's migration southward begins, bringing the rays of dawn to planets long ignored. A review of the archives has led to the rediscovery of the accounts of Master Skywalker’s time of Ophideraan, once controlled by slave masters. These individuals were granted power by mastery of beast and sky, ferocious and long insuppressible. Jedi are deployed to the sector to secure this power, and possibly make use of it. On the neighboring planet of Belgaroth, defense force members find trouble where they least expect it, from whom they least expect.

Little governance is present on Opideraan nor Belgaroth, and as the senate committees receive a small despite from the expansion process, a special turns their gaze inward to the turmoil on Denon.

I: A DENONSTRATION OF ORDER
In response to a peaceful protest outside Sakedo Tower on Denon turned violent, with CorpSec officers using excessive force against the protesters, the Senator of Epoch brings forth a proposition to the Senate.

Framing her view as a violation of sentient rights, she appeals to The Alliance to respond accordingly with a bill that includes as response plan and resolutions to prevent anything similar from happening again.

II: TYRANNY’S REINS
Centuries and centuries ago, the famed Luke Skywalker arrived on Ophideraan. Then, the planet was a dichotomous landscape of the strong overpowering the weak. The strong were a group that called themselves the Serpent Masters. They’d managed to tame the sky, and used their strength to run a planet just for themselves. A society not meant to last. Skywalker, and then again later liberators from The Confederacy, saw to it.

In their wake, a power vacuum was left behind when the source of the Serpent Master’s power was destroyed.

Now, years later, that source of power — a transmitter within a medallion that mimicked the ultrasonic tones of the planets sky serpents — was rebuilt, and is somewhere within the clans that live on Ophideraan.

Two teams of Jedi touch down on the planet. One group to try and interpret the power vacuum left in the wake of Master Skywalker’s departure, and track down the medallion. Once the medallion is in the hands of Alliance officials, civil unrest can be quelled and the citizens can agree to use their power over the serpents not against one another, but instead against the galactic threat of The Maw.

The second group work off imperfect information. Fragmented blueprints from R2D2’s original rebuild of Tyrann’s medallion includes remnant translations of the frequencies the flying serpents use to communicate. If the Jedi are able to coerce the serpents of the sky in their native tongue, and tame the beasts, they’ll have the opportunity to establish peace amidst the civilians of the planet and acquire a new technique against the constant slog of Maw beasts.

Both teams work simultaneously toward the same goal.

III: FEEL OUR WROTH
Never a beautiful nor particularly important world, Belgaroth’s tragic history left the planet ruined and inhospitable. With no native sentient life persisting after the weapon’s test performed by the empire, and the harsh environment offering poor conditions for settlers, it was largely ignored and left to abandonment- until recently.

The 3rd Expeditionary Fleet has come across large energy signatures on the surface. Interception of comms from boots on the ground has identified a corporation’s blacksite, rebuilt from an ancient chemical weapons factory. Jammers in space have prevented the forwarding of this information to Alliance Command. Before their departure, the soldiers must gather all the information they can on who’s behind this operation- and what exactly they’re doing here.

I: A DENONSTRATION OF ORDER

Tiresh pulled on her dress nervously as she sat in her pod, her eyes glued to her datapad as she surveyed some communications between her and other senators regarding the upcoming vote. The voices from the session drifted through the large space, currently focused on other minor matters, and the Senator was mildly tuning in at the moment. She tried to clear the lump in her throat as she nervously ticked the screen repeatedly with her finger.

If all went according to plan, then this session would become the first shot fired by the Free Alliance Coalition. Trying to strengthen oversight and accountability of corporate dealings within liberated planets would be an important first step in the right direction, and as long at the numbers weren't lying to her, then they had the votes they needed. But Tiresh wasn't foolish enough to count her eggs before they hatched. Her eyes darted upward towards the Chancellor as he spoke within the Senate hall. She knew there was a good chance that the Corporatists had bribed someone… blackmailed someone… anything was possible.

Words were one thing, but votes wouldn't lie. After today, they would know where they stood. She hoped that today would be a strengthening of the Coalition, not a shaking of it.

Her eyes drifted over to Auteme Auteme , who's legislation was being presented today. If she caught her gaze, she would give her a curt nod that suggested that she would have Tiresh's full support on the floor today, not that she needed the confirmation, but it couldn't hurt.

She typed out a quick message to Madelyn Lowe Madelyn Lowe , a political relationship which had resonated quite strongly during their last meeting together with the Coalition. Since then she had pursued the delegate and discovered they seemed to have quite a bit of common ground, at least on the outset.

Everything seems good on paper. Cautiously optimistic?

She sent the message and took a sip from her water. Perhaps it was her nerves getting the best of her, but she hoped to hear some kind of confirmation that everything was going according to plan.

Senator of Chandrila
phelia3.png

It's been a while since Eboi has been back at the Senate, he was busy back at Chandrila overseeing the construction of the defense force. Eboi was a person of peace above all, but years of experience has taught him that sometimes the threat of violence was the best way to prevent it. Sadly, given the state of the Galactic Alliance, things weren't that simple. Despite winning numerous battles, the Brotherhood remained vigilant and were looking for any weaknesses that they Alliance may have. Now the New Imperial Order has become an isolationist state and the relationship remains tense to say the least.

Eboi leaned back on his chair, just this once can everything go back to normal? Then again given the last few years, wars, genocide, and corruption maybe this is the norm. The people of the Galactic Alliance have been pushed to their limit with the constant wars, death and recently corporate greed. Now they were taking matters in their own hands but the only thing the Senate was doing was blaming the people rather than fixing the ills. Eboi needed to do something.

"Honorable Senators," Eboi said speaking into a mic. "As we sit here today over the events of Denon, I must stress that you all understand why the people have rioted. It's years of frustration over the wars and corruption of corporations that has taken hold of the Galactic Alliance. Simply administering more violence will only make the people that we are supposed to represent more upset. Instead of making a bill simply to quell the riots, we must introduce reforms to make sure that these people get what they need."

Are there really dragons down there...

Jealousy crawled it's way into the pilot's mind as she theorized what they looked like, envious of how the Jedi that came to this planet got to go tame wild beasts while she was stuck here. Forced to scout for a small blip against the black canvas that looks different from the other blips of the star-studded galaxy that painted the background she stared against.

<<'Wasp to Relay One, you hear me?'>>

The soft hum of the drive of her fighter was the only companion that Marae, the erratic noise from the comms not expressing the same amicability. Hopefully the buzzing in her ears meant that whatever jammers preventing the forward force from reaching Alliance Command. A few fighters had been spread into orbit to find whatever stopped the transmissions and the main ground force assaulted the chemical factory that had been found lying abandoned.

Boredom began to take hold as Marae continued to scan the horizon. A search and find against the blackness of space wasn't exactly the most thrilling of missions, her hazel eyes unable to pinpoint anything that screamed "OBVIOUS JAMMER" unfortunately.

<<'-e hear y-... -asp.'>>

The comms barely cracked to life, only a couple syllables made it through. A frown grew across the brunette's face, a realization that the better she could hear command, the further she had drifted past whatever jammer had been blocking. A groan escape her lips as she reluctantly spun the ship back around to where she had come from before leaning back into the comms.

<<'Copy that. Might be closing in on one soon, will keep you updated'>>

Obj 1. A Denonstration of Order

The Senate building was busy today, lots of people in the galleries and the public spaces. It was likely to do with the fact that the Senators were debating such a barbaric attack on the rights if peaceful citizens yes, that was the words on the 'leaked' internal documents if she remembered correctly. And now those words were emblazoned on many of the protesting holo sites and several placards outside... oopsie. She grinned privately to herself, assumed that whoever released that memo covered their tracks very well. It wasn't strictly a classified document, so it was more a political matter than a legal one at least.

The had read through Auteme Auteme documents and she approved, she had a little concern that any restriction on corporate power would automatically voted down by their bloc, but tying it to powers to prevent more extreme brutality by Corsec, that would hopefully pull it through. Coupled with the fact that the public had the issue between their teeth too. Politics was fun, sometimes, other times it was dull, like now as they waited to begin. She flicked the electrum and bronzium emblem of Constancia , suspended, gently spinning above a magnet on her desk. A simple trinket but a lovely gift from her youngest sibling, the artist of the family.

Since the meeting on Lujo, Xasha was beginning to feel more comfortable in the Senate, she had allies now and had kept up correspondence, particularly with her close Galactic neighbours. The relationships were important to her influence and her planetary government would thank her for increasing any trade opportunities. She had even been invited out for dinner by a trade envoy, that was an awkward bumpy night of failed advances, but she did managed to sell 14 million tons of unrefined ores at twenty percent above market value, so a win for her planet.

Her vice-Senator approached and sat next to her, a charming Constancian Man, he got his postion through marriage but Xasha was glad he did, his political talents were very useful to her. The diminuitive man disliked the Senate as much as Xasha and wore a similar anti-telepathic circlet to drown out the noise. "Ready for things to get heated" she laughed to him.

Final Dawn Central Command

O P E R A T I O N_B L A C K W I N G
Chapter 5 : Project Terminator

FINAL DAWN
BELGAROTH , CORE WORLDS
POV : Special Agent Konstantine

Alarms rang as blaster fire could be heard throughout the Corporate Blacksite. An Alliance Task Force had just recently arrived in orbit of Belgaroth where they had uncovered evidence of the Operations going on at the Blacksite sending a Ground Force to assault the Site in order to uncover whatever was going on there. As Alliance Forces advanced deeper in the Blacksite they would find opposition from Brutetroopers , a mixture of Mercenaries and Conscripts from the Outer Rim enlisted by owners of the Blacksite to serve as a security force to fend off wanted intruders such as the Alliance. However Special Agent Konstantine knew better as these Brutetroopers were meant to be sacrificed to ensure that he could escape the Blacksite with the most valuable contents of the Facility.

Unbeknownst to the Alliance this Corporate Blacksite belonged to SularenCo , which along with the Politorate (The Final Dawn’s Intelligence Agency) had been developing a new nanovirus which the Final Dawn intended to use against the Alliance. They had managed to “recruit” a bunch of Confederate Scientists left unemployed in the wake of the Confederate Collapse utilizing them to develop this nanovirus. However, by the time the Alliance arrived , the Nanovirius had not been completed yet nor did the Politorate know if it would actually work considering how it had not been tested on any live subjects yet. Nevertheless , it was imperative that any information regarding the project was destroyed to prevent the Alliance from uncovering any evidence of SularenCo’s Operation here and that was why Special Agent Konstantine was here.

Konstantine had been tasked to oversee the Security Forces tasked in protecting the Facility from the Alliance while Head Scientist Sirro Ames was responsible for overseeing the project itself. Now that the Alliance was here , Konstantine’s new task was to ensure the safe evacuation of the Scientists present at the Facility. Thus as the Brutetroopers were holding off the Alliance to delay their advance , Konstantine and his Team of Elite Raptors had rounded up every Scientist in the Main Laboratory of the Blacksite where they proceeded to collect samples of the uncompleted nanovirus and collect any significant information regarding the development of the nanovirus placing all these vital assets in a small container carried by two Raptors.

Sir , every scientist is accounted for and we have secured all vital assets including key information of the nanovirus and the samples.” a Raptor said, informing Konstantine of their progress. “Good. RC-3020 and RC-2341 begin planting charges throughout the laboratory , the rest of you begin moving the Scientists and the Containers towards the Hangar. We are leaving.” Head Scientist Ames who was standing beside Konstantine then spoke up. “And what about the Brutetroopers? Shouldn't they also be evacuated?” Konstantine scoffed at this question. “No , they are expendable assets. We have no need for them nor do we have enough room in our Shuttle to get them off world. Now , if you don’t have any other Stupid questions. I suggest we get moving. Those Brutetroopers won’t last long against the Alliance Soldiers.

Soon enough the Group of Elite Raptors and Scientists left the Laboratory, heading to the entrance of a nearby hallway as they waited for the two Raptors still within the Laboratory to link up with them. In his hand , the Special Agent held a remote detonator meant to trigger the explosives once they were set up. Hopefully those Brutetroopers would buy them enough time as Konstantine grew more anxious , fearing that the Alliance Soldiers might have caught up with them. But nevertheless he remained firm and ready to face whoever was bold enough to open fire on Konstantine and the Raptors.

FINAL DAWN
BELGAROTH , CORE WORLDS
POV : Captain Uravan

While Konstantine and his Forces dealt with the Alliance at the Blacksite on Belgaroth , a single Invector-Class Monitor Frigate could be found hidden behind one of the two moons of Belgaroth at the far side of the Planet (Far from the 3rd Expeditionary Fleet’s view). Escorted by a pair of FD-200 Corvette Carrier Prototypes , the Monitor Frigate was responsible for jamming all signals throughout the System to prevent the the Alliance Task Force at Belgaroth from reporting their findings to High Command as the latter would most certainly send a larger task force to the Planet should the former uncover evidence of the Final Dawn’s Operations on the World.

The Frigate was commanded by Captain Uravan , a former Lieutenant in the Core Imperial Navy who had served under Dorian Sevenar when he became the Warlord of Carida. He had previously partaken in numerous engagements such as the Skirmishes at Carida , the Battle of Ord Mantell , the Battle of Byss and the Byss Crisis before joining the ranks of the Final Dawn along with Sularen and Sevenar. After joining the Final Dawn he had been promoted to Captain and given command over a single Monitor Frigate becoming part of Operation Eavesdropper , an lengthy information gathering campaign launched by Grand Overseer Marlon Sularen of the Final Dawn to collect as much intel on Alliance Fleet Movements in preparation for Operation Frozen Hand which unfortunately had been delayed in the wake of the disastrous Battles of Jedha and Adrathorpe and the Uprising at Epoch.

Captain Uravan and his small task force had been deployed to Belgaroth in response to the Alliance’s Fleet Movements near the Planet shortly before the arrival of the 3rd Expeditionary Fleet. When the 3rd Expeditionary Fleet arrived , they had made use of their jamming signals when it became clear that they had become aware of Final Dawn Operations on the World , preventing the Alliance Task Force from relaying any information back to High Command and giving time to Konstantine and his operatives. In addition the Frigate had made use of its Location Scramblers to prevent the 3rd Expeditionary Fleet from pinpointing it’s exact location although the Captain knew that it was only a matter of time before they made contact with Scouts that might be sent to uncover their presence.

Nevertheless Uravan was well prepared to deal with a possible attack from the Alliance Task Force as he had several starfighter squadrons at his disposal , more than enough to fend off any attack to buy more time for Konstantine and his Operatives , although the Frigate itself wouldn't be capable of dealing with the 3rd Expeditionary Fleet directly though fortunately it would take them a while to reach them considering how far they were from the Frigate and how the Ship could simply go around the planet at the opposite direction from where the 3rd Expeditionary Fleet would be advancing which would most certainly annoy them but nevertheless still give the Operatives on the ground more time. Thus the Monitor Frigate sat there in orbit of the far side of Belgaroth continuing to Jam the Alliance’s Signals while simultaneously utilizing it’s Location Scramblers waiting for either Konstantine and his Operatives to arrive onboard their Shuttle so that they could leave , or for any unlucky Alliance Starfighter Squadrons to uncover their presence so that they could finally have something to do after hours of doing nothing.

I: A DENONSTRATION OF ORDER
And now would begin the game of two perhaps three level chess all would be looking at the Chancellor. Faith looked over to Alicio Organa Alicio Organa after the last meeting in these chambers she had asked him to come.

She handed over the datapad holding the information on the bill set before them with all of the supporting videos. She had seen a spark within him at Sanctuary City. He had this skill that politicians needed perhaps he was more suited to this realm only time would tell.

"Alicio you have demonstrated a great skill in speaking with people and taking the heart of the people making it your own. You have their interests first here in this place there is opportunity to help more people. You could work with Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix and Isla Draellix-Kobitana Isla Draellix-Kobitana on projects here. " Her right hand would guide his line of vision to the pods surrounding the Senate.

"Here we not only look out for the people of Alderaan but there is opportunity to help others on other planets. Before us today is a bill that has been introduced due to the events on Denon. I often need advice of others on situations, not just my own point of view. Could you help me with this today?" If he liked it if he liked this environment, she would give him a position here on Coruscant.

After the trip to Lujo Faith knew she had to make some changes entice others to work here. Alicio was not aware of the trip to Lujo it was not something she shared with any of the family the only one who thought to question her was Ikenna Tahj Ikenna Tahj . She only shared it with him because she was not certain of what would happen next.

When the Senate readjourned to discuss the deteriorating situation on Denon, the Chancellor was nowhere to be seen.

Looking at the order of business for the day, Tithe had excused himself from the chamber to ‘attend to important matters of, uhh, state.’ The vote on Denon would undoubtedly end in favour of the local populace and censure the actions of the overzealous local constabulary. Neither Tithe nor his world of Aargau stood to gain anything from the outcome of the vote. He’d left Mirana Praji Mirana Praji in the Chancellor’s Podium to direct the rabble.

The rare break in his schedule allowed him to pursue a more meaningful undertaking - calling campaign donors. If there was one certainty throughout the Core besides war, it was the constant march of the election cycle. Be the contest a Senate race, a planetary election or even a local appointment, hard credits were always in demand to buy holonet time, line the pockets of officials, and pay off potential enemies.

The passage of the SILK Trade Route Act had opened countless doors for the Chancellor. Systems to the south were reaching out for assistance to restore trade and security in the wake of the Confederacy’s collapse and were willing to pay to be at the top of the queue. Lobbyists for corporate interests, smelling lucrative government contracts, had filled his calendar with breakfast, lunch and dinner meetings. Corporatist senate candidates were registered in record numbers to stand for election on their homeworlds and shore up the voting bloc. The future was auspicious.

Unaware that his enemies were rallying in the Senate chamber above, Tithe consulted his call list prepared to fill the Corporatist coffers even further.

if they're watching anyways

When they gave her the floor to present the bill, Auteme stood and pushed her pod forward. She spoke simply.

"The Alliance must make an official response to what has happened on Denon. The Corporate Authorities of Denon have damaged their relationship with the citizenry -- what started as a peaceful protest to make clear the plight of the downtrodden of Denon turned into a battle as police started beating and detaining the protesters. The CAD have been stable and a valuable member of the Alliance, however, no world should be allowed to treat its citizens in such a way, quashing dissent with force.

"This bill is a first step, to make clear that the Alliance does not condone such actions from its members, and to further investigate the events that occurred before and during the riot. Further, it introduces restriction on corporate entities owning planets, and more importantly against exerting extreme influence in all aspects of life, which the Alliance is currently poorly equipped to deal with and punish when such influence turns violent."

She kept things to a minimum. This wasn't meant to be a hotly debated topic -- if anything, Auteme expected this to pass with minimal resistance, though perhaps with a few grumblings from the corporations with seats in the Senate. No, this was about precedent. Building the case, slowly whittling away the freedoms of the megacorps until they could be toppled with just a touch.

Tithe wasn't even here to see it. All day she'd been slipping things through the cracks. It was the boring bills that got things done, just as it was those boring bills that got passed. Infrastructure, social programs, and miniscule taxes. Never enough to garner attention. She didn't say enough to garner attention.

It would be a slow death, but this was the first major step forward. If the corporatists couldn't control the votes of their citizenry, things would start to change. Even here, the votes of the coalition and the rest -- the energy would begin to change, to sap their control.

The initial discussion began; the Senator of Chandrila said something or other. She had no idea if he intended to support the bill or not. While she appreciated the sentiment, the truth was the people of Denon weren't relevant here. If the Corporate Authorities did something else inflammatory, or the Marshals and SIA found something damning, it'd just be more ammunition to use; the protest, for now, was enough.

How cynical she felt. It's not that she didn't care, but her goals now were different.

Some things just didn't matter.

A Denonstration of Order
Location: Coruscant
Mentions: Darth Solipsis Darth Solipsis
Known on the planet Jedha, Barrac Hivlar was recently elected Senator of Jedha by its people. He had a lot of success as a politician, charismatic and compassionate, he nevertheless won the vote in a landslide victory and his predecessor wished him good luck on his way to Coruscant. Though there was a hidden side to his personality, he so far kept it under wraps, and never showed his hidden side to the public at large. He now approaches his place on the Senate he awaits the time where Senate discussions can begin in earnest. This discussion came after what happened on Denon, though this was all a part of the new Sith Grand Plan. He knew this because he was in fact a Sith Lord named, Darth Vird. He knew that the Jedi would be able to sense him so he used a cloak in his mind so powerful, not even the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Solipsis Darth Solipsis could sense him, now he now can destroy the Alliance from within.

The Jedi do not know about him, not yet, at any rate, his plan is to reveal himself at the right moment. When the time was right, he would reveal himself but by then it would be too late for anyone to do anything about it. He would be... Emperor of a new Imperium of the Galaxy. But first he must turn the Alliance against the Jedi, he must have them turn against the Jedi so that the Sith would gain a victory, victory not just against the New Jedi Order, but victory against all Jedi.

Senator's Apartments, Coruscant

With a suitcase laid out on the bed, Ishani began to pack away her things. Beyond the most basic necessities, she found that she had surprisingly little she cared to take with her.

She had almost nothing from her days as an Acolyte, having either left her belongings behind on Korriban in the wake of the Crusade, or thrown them away to avoid suspicion as she remade herself in the Alliance. The trappings of a Mystic no longer suited her, nor did her Senator’s raiments. With her resignation, she’d given it all up. All that mattered now was was getting out, heading somewhere safe…

Ishani.”

The sound of a voice somewhere behind her startled her, though she recognized the speaker at once. She found Arlo Renard, her master—former master, she reminded herself—sitting in the corner of the bedroom, his elbows propped up on the arms of the chair and his fingers entwined in front of his face. As she turned toward him, his fingers unclasped and steepled. He looked like a wise old sage about to offer some much-needed advice.

How did you get in here?” she asked. "I thought I told them not to let anyone in until after I was gone."

Rather than answer her question, he said, “Ishani, you’re making a terrible mistake.”

She sighed and resumed her work, folding clothes and layering them in the suitcase. “Sorry, but I’ve never felt more confident about a decision before. I'm not cut out to be a Senator, and I never believed in that stupid prophecy anyway. Planets only die because of the actions of one person in novels and cheesy holos.

“And planets only suffer doom because of star-crossed love in fairytales and legends.” He smirked faintly. “You know that isn’t true. All it takes is one selfish decision to put billions of lives at risk.”

Setting her jaw, she began to work faster, her folding becoming careless. “Persis sent you here, didn’t she? To try and convince me to stay and keep being her puppet. Well, guess what—I’m not a Mystic anymore either, and that means you’re not my master. You don't have any influence over me.

“As your friend, and as someone who was always rooting for you, I am begging you to reconsider.” Arlo rose to his feet. “You have to stop this madness now. I helped you look for Arcturus so long as I thought there was a chance you might find happiness together, but you’ve taken things too far. You’re abandoning your responsibilities in order to pursue him—”

"Go home to our children, Ishani. Stop the hunt: you won't find me again. Not unless you're willing to set them aside in the process. Which you won't. Because you know I'd hate you for it."

Not anymore,” Ishani interrupted, a hardness in her voice. She slammed the lid of her suitcase down. “I changed my mind.”

Arlo stared at her. “Then why are you leaving? Why have you resigned?”

For the sake of my children, and my sanity. This was never what I intended for myself or for them.” She gestured at the room around them, snorting bitterly. “I hate this place. I really do. Even just playacting the role of a cutthroat, pretending that I'm some power-hungry and self-interested... girl boss, has been hell. I don't understand half this shit, and Persis' guidance hasn't been much help. So feth it. I'm done.

Arlo’s gaze grew flinty. “Then you’re dooming Chaldea just because you don't like your job?”

She shook her head. “I told you already, I put no stock in Persis’ prophecies. I don’t believe my father will lead Chaldea to ruin. In fact, I never really did. Even if he is on a path toward destruction, why not try to steer him? Work with him, instead of pitting me against him? He's always wanted a big political career, and because of Persis and her stupid visions of the future, I took that away from him...

Chaldean law prohibits close relatives from running for the same political office. Persis had known this, and had used Ishani to block her father, Toloth Threepwood, from becoming Senator. Toloth had stopped speaking to Ishani, enraged by what he thought was an unthinkable betrayal of her family. The reality was she was just a half-willing pawn in someone else’s game.

Arlo could only shrug. “I don't know Persis' plans. Knowing her, she’ll probably just meddle in the election again…”

No. You can fool people once, but not twice.” She picked up the suitcase and started hauling it toward the door. “Or at least, not Chaldeans…

Admittedly, she had been napping for part of the proceedings in the Senate for the day. Much of it had been minor issues that needed to be addressed, even the Chancellor had designated his Vice Chancellor to run the chamber for the day, and she was exhausted from other activities she had been overseeing. Soraya had been keeping notes and pressing her pod's vote button when needed while she pretended to read her datapad. Next to her Raenlyn was playing a digital version of her favorite card game, completely uninterested at present. Until the proposal from Senator Denko-Durron was brought to the floor for consideration.

"Mistress," Soraya muttered, shaking her awake gently. Gray eyes refocused and she stretched a bit from her position. "Epoch's bill is next."

"Thank you, Soraya," Elizie replied, bringing up the legislation in question onto her datapad for a quick read-through. Eyes scanned the lines even as debate began. A slight smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she finished. Clever girl. She and other Senators had been annoyed that SILK had narrowly passed, she had even received an invitation to a meeting to form some anti-Corporatist bloc but had declined as she wanted to maintain her independent stance. It offered her greater flexibility if she was a vote that either side could sway, and it had been some independents like herself that had pushed SILK just over the finish line for the Corporatists.

Auteme, no doubt somewhat influenced by her previous background as a Jedi, had cloaked her bill in humanitarian language while its true purpose remained somewhat obscured. But it was there, and Tithe was even here to see that a first cut was being aimed at his law and support base. Clever girl indeed. She didn't activate her pod to detach from the wall, but she did send a signal that the Senator of Arkania had a question on the current bill. Once she received recognition from the chair, she activated her pod's transmitter.

"I agree with the first point of the proposal, Senator," she said. "The Senate should send a clear signal to CorpSec that heavy handed tactics to stifle speech on Denon will be reprimanded in some way." Not that the proposal under consideration did anything but a verbal slap on the wrist. She hadn't even included sanctions or anything to actually compel the DireX Board to limit themselves. "However, I do have a few questions on other parts of your bill. Specifically on the limitations you have in mind for corporate entities when it comes to planetary influence. Can you enlighten this body on the specifics?"

There was nothing more intimidating than a stadium full of senators.

Alicio let his eyes wander over the faces around the room, wondering what each of their stories were. What twists and turns their individual roads to power took, the friends they made along the way, the constituents that held sway over them.

What they aspired to be, what they wish they were, what they wanted.

It was quite a bit to take in for Alicio's first visit to the Alliance Capital.

Count Organa had found his best attire for the event, a blue suit with lovely black flower designs, completed with black gloves that the young man constantly fidgeted with. It was obvious he was nervous. Still, he had arrived per his cousin's request; he couldn't thank her enough for the faith she put in him, even if it felt misplaced at times.

But he still found the will to nod as his Faith Organa Faith Organa passed him a datapad, busying his flighty fingers with the screen.

"Of course. I'll help however I can." Alicio read through the contents of the datapad, having already been briefed on the broad strokes of the situation. Still, he perused it diligently, looking for anything the two representatives from Alderaan might have missed.

"I know the Chancellor recently passed a bill granting more power to corporations in vacated Confederacy space," Alicio muttered, in a conversational tone. "These implied sanctions to those companies might step on some toes."

"Not to say some toes don't need a good squashing."
Alicio didn't feel the need to say any more. If Faith knew him at all, she may be able to guess he would place his vote with the people, if he had one.

Seto Du Couteau, Senator of Empress Teta
Objective One:
A Denonstration of Order
Action: Listening and Possibly Preparing a Comment
Attire

Once more into the fray, into the least comfortable seats Seto had ever known, which was quite annoying. How many credits had we sunk into replacing the furniture in this building thus far? Seto sighed into his hands, his covered face hid his rather distraught expression as he leaned forward from his seat in the Senator pod. The difficulty of finding a proper cushion nearly rivaled that of reading the zoning laws of Coruscant. The sheer difficulty was simply finding the law books in the first place, just as how terribly impossible it was to find said cushion.

The low ramble of hundreds of Senators quieted as Senator Seth spoke up first about the rather unfortunate events on Denon. Then next was the new Senator of Epoch, the once Jedi Shield Auteme, her words contained the dreaded topic to be discussed within these walls. Corruption, Corporations, and now faced with an Anti-Trust bill. Seto wondered how his party would react behind closed doors when they had read this bill arriving on the floor.

In fact, he couldn’t believe that anyone would attempt to curb Corporate freedom to conduct the way the Market needed. The young Du Couteau heir had heard rumblings and rumours of a coalition forming against the Corporatist’s hold of power within the Senate. A worrying notion indeed, this might put a wrinkle in some of our future plans. Seto mused a tad on the potential political struggle that could become troublesome.

Senator Athacorr spoke up, attempting to appear friendly by agreeing with Senator Auteme, but questioning the details of these ‘limitations’ placed upon Corporations and their influence over planetary bodies and their governance.

“I’m curious as well. . .” Seto mumbled to himself. He wasn’t entirely sure if a strong pushback against this bill was needed. But if things appeared as a slippery slope to further regulations and Alliance oversight, Seto was already trying to find a larger office for all those reports from GAMA and his Committee of Commerce and Finance.

Senate Chambers,
Coruscant

-

Today’s business was, mercifully, to be taken from within the confines of the Senate chambers on Coruscant. A casual observer of the senate would assume that was the case for almost all political matters, a half-half divide between the planet one ruled and the capitol. As Madelyn had quickly realised, the reality of her position was more akin to rushing between various planets as fast as you could, mopping up crises and pushing your political agenda while you did so.

The whole thing was rather exhausting, and Madelyn often found herself reminiscing about the good old days, when things were efficient, and, importantly, she was in charge. Nevertheless, there was work to be done in the Senate that day, so she sat in her pod and stared down at her datapad, tuning out the chatter of her political staff as she scanned the missive from Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix .

Everything seems good on paper. Cautiously optimistic?

Things were starting to move along with their coalition initiative. They had a smattering of senators to support their movement and clear objectives for their next few moves. What was ahead of them now was the task of bringing their campaign public. @Auteme’s proposal would be an easy victory. The real difficulty was gauging the time to push the button and go public with the formation of the coalition. Should they go through with it now, and support the proposed bill in a demonstration of their cohesion, or would it be better to wait until Sssar Taszzn Sssar Taszzn put forth his proposed bill, and surprise the corporatists with their voting power? Madelyn wasn’t sure, so she wrote back to Tiresh as the Senators assembled in the chamber.

“We have as good a chance as we ever will. Denon is a cesspit of corporate greed, and the whole Galaxy knows it. Framing this bill as an opposition to their abuses is a sure fire way to win us support, and the Corporatists can hardly contest it.”

“The question then is, are we ready to go public? If everything is lined up , then this is a golden opportunity. All we need is your word.”

Through the many dozens of rows and columns of his fellow senators was the pod where Sssar lounged. His great size had resuscitated some slight modifications to the design, long ago, to accommodate him and the personnel that accompanied him. To that end in order to not block the sight of his colleagues the pod had been placed relatively low. The Senator from Eclipse read in silence as line after line of potential legal code scrolled by his vision from the projector before him. Three members of his paramilitary force, the Abiding Precept Constabulary, likewise poured over the information. Their uniforms were finely pressed and clean and their badges were polished to a gleam.

"Senator as I read it the bill is guileless." muttered one of the constables "Perhaps a deeper deception? This bill would strip incorporated entities from possessing authority over the worlds already within their custody, nor or in the future." responded another in a conspiratorial tone "Unlikely. The reputation of the sponsor doesn't lend itself towards corrupt dealings." concluded the third "The laws of Denon do permit their actions, therefore Just, correct?" said the first while the trio gathered together and began to converse in hushed whispers "The laws of the Alliance are supreme." the third stated "Yes though has the supremacy clause been violated?" asked the second to their comrades "Perhaps? There have been great latitudes given to planetary security forces. Though these rioters surely presented little risk of planetary scale security threats." the second constable folded her arms over her chest and mused "I would not call the political maneuvering of the Coalition to be guileless nor free of deception. This is clearly meant to weaken the Corporatist's allies and holdings." the third constable looked to the second with a narrowed gaze "Surely you do not mean to implicate the Commissioner's motives as a deception."

Sssar's head pivoted and neared his attendants "I will withhold condemnation on the authoritiessss of Denon. Recall, friendssss, that our message of Order coincidessss with the Law. One cannot be without the other. They are the Law and they presssented force to maintain Order. The failure to disssperssse isss a crime conssstituting a riot. Until ssssuch a time assss the Alliance cassstsss ssssuch actionsss down asss an act against the Alliance it isssss Justice. No matter the pain it bringssss." the silence that followed was thick with surprise from the constables who, unlike Sssar, were newly accustomed to casting such matters into a stark light "Do not missstake my judgement. The people of Denon sssshould not fear to voice their disssssent but nor sssshould the peacekeeperssss of a planet be punissshed for doing jussst that. Therefore, to erasssse the possssssibility of either from occurring again without Just recoursssse I shall give my assssssssent. Though the prohibition againsssst the coprorate governancesss from holding their sssseat doessss concern me. To weaken our adverssssariesss is not the intent of my vote, it isssss no more than to refine the code of jusssstice. A time will come, and come quickly it will, to confront the Corporatissstsss in open air but today issss not that day. Know that when we move to sssssee their crimessss revealed it will not be with ulterior motivessss. Assss issss our misssssion... we will ssssee the Alliance freed of the corruption that sssseepssss like an infection beneath the sssskin of our fair people. Let none be sssspared scruntity of the law."

A Denonstration of Order

Faith nodded to Alicio Organa Alicio Organa , "Yes the Chancellor did, my opinion is they would have went anyhow, all he did was give them permission so that they did not break Alliance law. Corporations within Alliance are only to deal with Alliance worlds. While there are those that would say the money will eventually funnel back into the Alliance to improve the Alliance. They will take advantage of the people in the south from their pure need. The committee I chair on Health is working to send medical aide, while we tend to the refugees flooding in to us in Sanctuary City we know what is happening there." Faith did not want to confuse Alicio, politics were devils.

"Your advice is sound. Our thoughts are always what is best for the people and I have watched the holos I think the entire galaxy has watched. I will agree that is the initial response, but now listen to the others as they speak it reveals there is more here than just the safety of the people. It is move a pivot point between the Corporatists and those who do not agree with their methods."

Faith had attended the meeting on Lujo with quite a different thought in mind, she had also walked away from the meeting knowing in her heart she agreed that the Corporatists held a significant position and wielded power that made them all uncomfortable. This incident on Denon was proof.

It was through this she would hope to teach Alicio, "Very often I sit and listen to several of the speakers give their position. Auteme Auteme has presented the forces reacted in a manner that casts doubt on their methods. So now they ask us, the Senate to assess this action and vote to curb their positions to prevent another incident. Who will stand and say they do not have issue with what occurred on Denon. Also notice that the Chancellor Aerarii Tithe Aerarii Tithe is not here today, could be significant could be nothing."

Faith considered sending Alicio to Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix to know where the fledgling coalition stood but Faith knew, those who had been at the meeting will vote in favor. Odd though that the Chancellor was not here today, either he considers this of no consequence no threat. Possible. Or was there something else waiting.

Tiresh tapped the side of her pod repeatedly, creating a dull tick tick ticking sound. The sound represented the multitude of thoughts that continued to plague the Senators mind. As she read Madelyn Lowe Madelyn Lowe 's reply, the ticking stopped. She brought both hands up to her forehead as she rubbed her temples, letting out a slow and wearied sigh. She struggled with the feeling that everything was hinging on her. It made her feel uncomfortable. As the one perceived to be overseeing this Coalition, she had the most to loose if things went south. She had the biggest target on her back, and it could be political suicide if things didn't work out with this coalition.

She wished that she had been able to remain in the shadows, to help guide and support from the safety of obscurity. But perhaps such luxuries were not meant to be. She could not help but feel like she had somehow become a sacrificial lamb in all of this, and her eyebrows furrowed at the idea that somehow she had been outplayed by other senators who were perhaps much more cunning and politically mature than she was.

Was this a terrible mistake? What she being set up to take the fall?

"Dammit…" She muttered to herself as she took in another quick drink of water. While there was great risk, there was also great reward, and while she surely had the most to loose from failure, she also had the most to gain from success. Perhaps she was a gambler after all.

Was now the right time to go public? She felt like it might reveal all their cards too soon. This legislation felt like an easy win, and if they decided to make it their coming out party, then she feared that the Corporatists would have more time to respond and prepare for the weightier pieces of legislation that were coming down the pike. They would loose the element of surprise.

She quickly typed out a message back to Madelyn Lowe Madelyn Lowe

Call me naive, but I feel like this should be an easy win for us. If we go public now, they will be able to better prepare against the heavy hitters we have planned. Reveal all our cards too soon and it might be over before it begins... Perhaps we make sure this legislation passes and try to keep our cards to our chest as long as possible?

She hit send and leaned back in her chair as she listened to the first remarks about the legislation. While it did seem like an innocent piece of legislation on the outset, there was quite a bit of wiggle room for ones own interpretation of what Elizie Athacorr Elizie Athacorr had highlighted in the bill. She hoped that Auteme Auteme could provide enough clarity without revealing how extensive the interpretation could be. It was in their best interest to speak as little as possible on that point, and on the bill in general… the more people who voiced their opinions and their support, the more red flags could be raised, and so Tiresh bit her tongue and opted to remain quite for the moment, hoping that they wouldn't need to go all out in support of it, and that it would be an easy and subtle win for the Coalition.

Denon. It was a world that Pryce himself considered unsavory. A world under the foot of a collection of corpos, freedom was something of a delicacy there. Being sat along the Corellian Run, much of his career after the New Republic's Battle of Kuat and the subsequent secession of Corellia was spent traveling through the Iseno sector on patrols and military milk runs. Denon was one of the worlds he hated to stop at, but the company that supplied the CDF's hypermatter fuel had a deal with someone in the Corellian Council, who had a deal with someone on Denon, which meant frequent stops on the world. He felt for the protestors, he really did. But he needed to hear more about Auteme's plans. He trusted her, she used to be a Jedi, one of the best.

Unfortunately with the secession attempt at Kuat, tensions running high with the New Imperial Order, and the war in Chiss Space going strong his betters over at the Corellian Council had prescribed him caution when dealing with moves like this. Moves that would slowly strip away autonomy and power from the individual worlds themselves. Not to mention the pressures of corpos like Martin Draigo Martin Draigo put on the Council. Anything that hurt businesses in Corellia, especially ones that dealt in the Belt, well, it was better for everyone if he stayed on their good side.

And so he waited, and he listened.

The strong ruling the weak. As was designed by nature at the first dawn of the Galaxy. There would always be a hierarchy, no matter the species or their ways of life. The strongest would enjoy the spoils of life, and those after would take what was left. The alpha of the pack would have the privilege of eating before the rest of the pack. Humans with power would impose their will unto others through their subordinates.

Exactly what was being witnessed here on Ophideraan. A select, elite group of people claiming authority over the entire planet through their skills of commanding the great serpents whom have fallen below the command of humans. How interesting was that? The supposed apex predators of the planet succumbing to the orders of men, creatures smaller and weaker than them. A testament that power came in many sizes, even a smaller object could defy the strength of one bigger and mightier than them.

The attraction of power called to him, in hopes to defeat someone or something stronger than him and improve himself beyond what he was. Searching and yearning to find his equal.

One whose fists know no equal.

His intentions would help the Alliance in their goals of dominating and pacifying the planet, yet he cared little of that hubris of a government and their agendas. He only served his best interests and wants. Perhaps he would find someone worthy to respect, no matter if it was the Jedi or a Serpent Master.

Across the rocky terrain of canyons he walked, the heat of the sun beating down on him though it did not seem to exhaust him. Discipline carved him into the man he was, though perfection was yet to be reached; yet to reach his full potential and peak. His only weapons were his fists and the lightsaber on his belt as he walked alone to the Great Well, the center of life for Ophideraan.
