ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Merregon-class transports are heavily armored and shielded, utilizing Golem Advanced Plating and the Kirin Shielding System, to better protect the soldiers and equipment the transport is carrying. The Merregon-class also makes use of several defensive countermeasures to better protect it from enemy missiles and torpedoes, along with three Valefor Laser Cannons and two Variable Missile Launchers for some offensive firepower.
  • Making use of four Phoenix Ion Engines, the Merregon-class has impressive speed and maneuverability, especially for a transport. The engines were also designed in a VTOL style to allow for more rapid landings and take offs.
  • The interior of the transport is customizable between three different configuration that allows for the deployment of various amounts of equipment, soldiers, and light support vehicles. The Merregon-class also has two magnetic docking clamps that connect to the interior of the transport that allows the ship to carry two starfighters for ground support or protection from enemy forces or two heavier ground vehicles for improved ground support.
WEAKNESSES
  • Due to the shield emitters of the Kirin being scattered across the hull, if parts of the hull become damaged, gaps can form in the overlapping shield layers of the transport.
  • If the molecular furnaces within the Phoenix Ion Engines become damaged or are sabotaged, they can cause a chain reaction that will consume the engine and significantly reduce the transport's speed and maneuverability.
  • While the Merregon-class can carry heavier vehicles or starfighters on its underside, they are fully exposed to enemy forces and be easily destroyed if attacked with proper weaponry. This can also result in some blowback going through the docking clamp and injuring or killing personnel within the interior of the transport.
DESCRIPTION

Aurora Industries, while officially neutral, had enjoyed long relations with several Sith factions and individuals in the past due to its history and it continues to seek ways to gain more market share in its military-industrial complex. With the Sith Order beginning the process of modernizing its forces, with a commission being released for a new transport, the company began Subproject Avernus of its Highwind Program through its shipyards within the Blair Cluster asteroid field. The first ship designed as this project, and to be considered for the commission and contract, was the Merregon-class Transport.

The first design choice of the ship took inspiration from older ships such as the Sentinel-class landing craft or the Gozanti cruisers by having a customizable interior to allow Sith forces to have various configurations to deploy soldiers, equipment, or light vehicles for ground support. The ship also has two magnetic docking clamps on the underside of the ship that can hold two medium vehicles such as tanks or walkers or two starfighters for air support and protection from enemy forces, although the vehicles as they are on the underside of the vessel makes them exposed to enemy fire.

Secondly, a focus by the design team was made for both protection and speed for rapid movement of soldiers to the frontlines. In that regard, the ship was equipped with the Golem-type hull plating and the Kirin Shielding System for heavy protection through its armor and shields for the soldiers and equipment contained within the vessel. Several defensive countermeasures were included as well for better protection from missiles and torpedoes while the ship has some armaments with three Valefor laser cannon turrets and two missile launchers. Four Phoenix Ion Engines were installed, utilizing a VTOL configuration, for the ship to have impressively high speeds and maneuverability and the ability for rapid landings, take offs, or hovering deployments.
