STANDARD FEATURES
  • The Luminary-class is outfitted with all the features and facilities one would expect from a vessel of its size and purpose, among these:
  • The average Luminary-class vessel is described below, keeping in mind that it is frequently diverged from due to the modular design:
    • Deck 1 (Bridge): Bridge consoles, console/holotable hybrid station, and a pair of refreshers linked to the Fuel/Ration Converter.
    • Deck 2 (Officer's Deck): Captain & First Mate's Cabins, Captain's Office, Upper Engineering, two Storage Holds, Multipurpose Room.
    • Deck 3 (Crew's Deck): Eight Standard & One Double-Sized Cabins; Mess Hall, Medical Bay, Crew Lounge, Two Large Refreshers w/ Sonic Showers, Middle Engineering, Three Multipurpose Rooms, and Two Escape Pods. Various smaller misc. rooms/closets.
    • Deck 4 (Cargo Hold): Cargo, Lower Engineering, various smaller rooms/closets; often carries supplies and some hoverbikes.
    • Multi-Deck Facilities: Engineering is split across decks 2, 3, and 4; elevator and a pair of emergency shafts w/ ladders.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • The Luminary-class features sophisticated power distribution systems, most notably a SLAM drive able to facilitate short-to-medium duration bursts of extreme speed and a "turtle mode" that closes the torpedo tubes/slows the ion cannons' rate of fire to bolster the shields.
  • The Luminary-class is able to operate in extreme environments, including deep underwater; shielded airlocks allow safe exits.
STRENGTHS
  • Versatile Explorer: Built as a capable explorer though it may be, the Luminary-class is modular enough to be used in a wide range of roles, from core areas like scientific exploration and hyperlane charting to serving as a personal transport, light freighter, or miniature hospital ship.
WEAKNESSES
  • Noncombatant: While moderately capable in self-defence, the Luminary-class is very clearly not a military vessel; use a Phalanx instead.
DESCRIPTION
The newest addition to Globex's exploration fleets, the Luminary-class is a purpose-built explorer designed in accordance with the suggestions and requirements of the corporation's Survey Corps; though able to operate with everything from a skeleton crew of one (or none) organics to over a score trained explorers, such extremes are fairly rare and very much model/assignment dependent.

In some cases, they have even been intentionally deployed without organic crews - most commonly to chart hyperlanes in especially risky regions.

By order of [REDACTED BY ORDER OF AMCO] these vessels are provided at heavily discounted rates to the Je'daii Enclave, with some having been handed over free of charge over the corporation's charity budget, presumably in conjunction with the Blue Crest.
