Life is the Enemy, Death is our Solace - Battle of Bimmisaari [TSE/SJO]

4kZcrhx.png
Destination: Bimmisaari.
Objective: Defend the Capital City, Glastro.
Opposition: Open (The Sith Empire).
Er6tw3E.png
Aboard the Upsilon-Class Command Shuttle, Veiere and a contingent of Antarian Rangers began their departure from the Judiciary, meanwhile flanked alongside other transports and dropships by the Starfighters and Jedi Interceptors whose objective was to see the ground forces safely to the surface of Bimmisaari.

"I want those Walkers and CAV's reinforcing Glastro's perimeter defense" Veiere stood at the central command table of the greater Transport, made with the purpose of being able to coordinate attacks both on and off the ground. Standing before him were holo-projections of other officers, some on the frontlines whilst others were preparing the defense of the central city; "Rangers are soon to be on the ground and the Judiciary is delegating priority between the worst afflicted zones. We need to keep the Sith from pushing any further ahead".

"Sir, we're getting reports that the Emperor himself is here..." One of the Officers remarked, causing Veiere to falter a moment. The Dark Side of the Force was always present during the company of the Sith, however the arrival of [member="Darth Carnifex"] would only serve to bolster the ranks of the Empire's forces.

"If forced to engage, the Jedi will handle the Emperor, Captain" Veiere reassured the man, though it would by no means be a small feat to accomplish. To the back of the room, a dim red light illuminated the shadows signalling the vessels imminent arrival within the City. Veiere having to signal the others before ending the transmission and turning for the passenger compartment where the Squadron of Rangers were preparing their equipment in one final check.

Descending through the clouds, the arrival of the Command Shuttle drew fire from some of the invading Sith Forces, though strays and doing little to divert the vessels path, the ship soon landed within one of the Starport's landing pads, the ramp lowering for the Antarian Rangers to begin securing the facility followed by Veiere Arenais, himself.

Ship: Elsa’s Sith-Imperial TIE Interceptor
Onboard Equipment: VD-9 Heavy Particle Beam Pistol, F-34 Flight Suit
Position: Atmosphere of Bimmisaari
[member="Veiere Arenais"] [member="Jessica Med-Beq"]

Given the trajectory of the formation of Silver Jedi troop transports, Elsa passed into the atmosphere of Bimmisaari as she acquired her first target via her interceptor’s target acquisition and tracking system. After designating an ETA-4 interceptor ([member="Veiere Arenais"]) as her primary target in the computer, she angled the nose of her craft in a lead pursuit curve in order to facilitate her creation of a firing solution. Having deactivated the system’s spot-luma prior to take off, Elsa assessed the position of the bandit via her interceptor’s tracking sensors and aligned her crosshairs in the craft’s predicted future location. Then, in the short span of less than a second, a precise barrage of six ionized bolts and six laser bolts discharged from the wing mounted cannons on her interceptor, each of which were aimed to strike the hostile craft on the fuselage.

As she fired, the surface of Bimmisaari manifested itself within her craft’s viewport. She could already see the city of Glastro just below her, which would doubtlessly be brimming with anti-aircraft batteries given the world’s close proximity to Sith-Imperial space. Fortunately, Elsa did not anticipate that they would be of much concern to her. Her interceptor was fitted for air-to-air engagements. As such, it would not be difficult to keep herself well out of the AA batteries’ effective ranges while still performing her duties to exemplary effect.

However, the airspace was quickly becoming crowded with hostile craft. Given the dangers awaiting on the ground, she would not be able to fly low in an effort to evade any fighters that managed to get behind her. Instead, she would have to rely on her interceptor’s supermaneuverability to break off any bandits.

Reggie exhaled, not even realizing that he was holding his breath. The Padawan spoke to the knight normally now that they were close.. "I think the best way to do that at the moment is defend this position until we're sure that it'll be safe to move the civilians without asking for unnecessary casualties. We should wait for more reinforcements-" Just then, he saw a Command shuttle make its way down to the surface and drawing fire from some invaders. "Great timing. Alright, we stick it out here until we see SJO Rangers pushing the invaders back from this area. We can't move until we're absolutely sure we can risk it. That's if it's alright with you.

Now the Padawan used the force to find someone he could talk to in the Command shuttle. It was far enough away to put a little strain on the Padawan but he was happy to find [member="Veiere Arenais"]. Hopefully the Master wouldn't mind him using telepathy to speak. "Master Arenais, this is Padawan Reggie Faayare. Me and another Jedi are defending some of the civilians in another area that's not too far from where you are. We don't have that many forces with us, so it would be appreciated if we could get a few Rangers over here before the invaders overwhelm us." More invaders came into the street moving to attack them.

Drawing his lightsaber again, Reggie prepared for what was coming. "Weapons up everyone. Let's show these invaders what we're made of!" As the Padawan blocked some incoming fire, he spoke to the Jedi Knight. "My name is Reggie Faayare. What's yours Lady Knight? Also, I'm more of a defensive fighter, so i'll try to draw their attacks. We'll stay close enough to guard each other when needed, sound good?"

Palru would connect her two individual sabers into one by clicking the ends together. She'd lunge forward a few meters to slash an invader in half, twirling her double sided lightsaber to deflect bolts. "Palru Vadarn. And don't worry, I can take care of these guys." She'd communicate through telepathy with Reggie, staying close, but ahead, as she cut invaders down one after another. She was new to the using double-sided lightsabers, but she just thought of it as a staff. She knew how to use a staff. So she looked like a natural.

The sharp angular facade of the Emperor's battle helmet turned to look at Master Jade, recognition conveyed despite the lack of facial indication. He raised his weapon, runes blazing bright and angrily, and pointed its tip towards the Jedi Master. Dark energy suffused the area, the cobbled bricks of the street beneath their feet flying loose from where they had been set centuries prior to fly through the air like ballistic missiles towards Romi. Each one that missed struck the ground around the Jedi Master with an explosion of stone, either embedding themselves deep or exploding on contact to shower the Jedi with dust and debris.

While that barrage was being rained down on the Jedi, the walls of the surrounding structures began to bend and bulge out towards the street. Piece by piece, the stone and brick sidings torn free by the power of the Dark Side and adding further to the deluge being heaped upon Romi Jade. Due to the sudden destabilization, the buildings running along the edge of the street began to suffer systematic domino collapse. Their very foundations were torn up, turned into ballistic weapons by the Sith Emperor, leaving the upper sections to crash right into the street below. Any pieces of debris that came near the Emperor were deterred by the same power that brought them down, near entire buildings redirected as they fell to crash in front and behind the Emperor, but never on top.

The dust settled as the last structure left unsupported crashed down, the Emperor rising above the destruction on a platform that he had wrenched up from beneath his feet through the Force. Now he stood above it, observing the wreckage in search of Romi Jade.

That much power... Palru had never sensed that much before. It gave her a headache, forcing her onto one knee. She barely deflected a bolt aiming for her head as this happened. "What... what is that..!?" She'd stumble back to her feet. She felt it was close. A block or two away, at most. "Reggie... take the civilians and get away! Something big is... something big is coming!" Palru let out a powerful force push, causing a ship wreckage to slam into the remaining invaders. After that, she'd slap her face to regain focus, slowly starting to back up to Reggie.

-------------------------------

As the Emperor tore through the walls of Glastro with aid from the diabolical powers of the dark-side a trio of Legionnaire transport ships touched down several lengths behind him. The transports kicked up a storm of dust and debris as they landed in the craters left by the orbital barrage. As the mechanical hiss of the craft’s gangways announced their opening, regiments of Sith-Imperial Legionnaires clad in black and Sith Knights marched out in combat order.

MfiLvAf.png
Leading a column of Knights and Legionnaires was Darth Voyance. She was clad in blood red armor, with a Sith Amulet embedded in the upper torso. Her armor was sharp and ornate but, still no different from that of the MK.III that her black clad troopers wore. For the operation on Bimmisaari, Voyance had forgone the deployment of the Soothsayer and her meditation powers, in order to demonstrate her battlefield command.

As she approached her dark master, she used his powerful maelstrom channelling to empower her amulet and begin emboldening her Battle-Meditation to perform a dark-side buffering her trooper’s prowess. They would be charging into the breach the Emperor had engineered and she would need them at their most beastly and fervent.

Stopping by her master, she turned to her troopers and pulled her double-sided lightsaber from her belt and tightened her black gloved fingers around it. She tilted her head up and glared down at her troopers, inspecting their armor and passing her glance from visor to visor. She gritted her teeth and hissed commands at them.

“My master, you dark overlord, our Emperor – demands the heads of the Silver Jedi defending this world!” howled Darth Voyance.

Her words washed over the troopers and slithered out of their ranks to disappear among the sounds of artillery barrages, blaster fire, and the wails of the damned.

“You will bring them to me,” she continued. She ignited one of her blades on the lightsaber. Because of the Mustafaarian Lava Crystal inside, the red beam snapped, hissed and crackled. It spat sparks and flecks of saber plasma burning the ruined earth below.

Voyance pointed it at them. “Or…I shall have yours!”

The troopers cheered. As they howled battle-cries, Voyance summoned the dark-side to swell in her free hand as she squeezed her fingers into a rumbling fist.

“For the Empire! The Dark Lord wills it!” she bellowed.

Voyance the turned and released the force gathered in her fist. It exploded from her out-stretched hand and crushed the air in front it as a tidal wave of telekinetic power rushed forward. The sudden disturbance of the air was so powerful the air boomed and cracked like a bolt of thunder. The force wave poured into the breach blowing out whoever and whatever would be trying to fill the gap, as well as sending out residual debris as projectiles.

Darth Voyance charged into the breech. Behind her lead by Sith Knights, companies of legionnaires charged in, blasters leveled and ready with senses enhanced by brief battle-meditation influence.

"The Emperor has revealed his position! He is attacking the wall!" the commander of the tank that was later destroyed reported, after seeing a squad killed on patrol along the wall.

"Hopefully the enemy will take the bait"

With the enemy artillery, under the form of walkers, bogged down in the forest, and with it, the main enemy army, they were vulnerable to another airborne attack run. Some enemy walkers did, however, cause some casualties to infantry, and also mobile artillery, before concentrated fire at their legs caused some walkers of all sizes to be mobility-killed and, in effect, mission-killed (if not catastrophic-killed). The battle was raging on in the skies, but it was clear that the enemy was wreaking havoc along a section of the wall, destroying a city block right next to it in the process, and several squads were killed with the city block. The resulting gap in the wall was apparently large enough for three troop transports to land on the outside. Yet the casualties were still not enough to be cause for concern. And then she would sense that some Jedi was going to face the Emperor, hiding behind rubble for an opportunity to fight him from a different angle than head-on. The enemy is about to take the bait, she thought, while the anti-aircraft batteries kept firing at inbound enemy reinforcements as well as their escorts.

"The enemy took the bait!" a mortar gunner announced.

"Fire at will!"

In fact, as these troop transports were unloading, machineguns opened fire at the legionnaires down the wall, and later followed by 120mm mortars firing high-explosive rounds in airburst mode at the advancing enemy infantry column, led by another Sith. That Sith in the lead was seemingly the only one that was somewhat inclined to take control on the field that was deployed on the planet, not that there was a whole lot of Sith willing and/or able to assume command on the field to begin with. That Sith was in for a most unpleasant surprise under the form of a barrage of indirect-fire artillery, with shells exploding a few meters overhead the column.

Snap-Hiss!

Her glowing blade worked in a furious, whipping up high and to the side -- she carved her way through several bricks, deftly hopping over the low-flying missile -- and then back up. She turned about and sliced across, picking two out of the air, then dropped into a squat, the lightsaber flashing up above her head to take out one diving for her. She propelled herself up, bashing through with the physical force of her forearm, and stonewalling the next.

Romi's autopilot kicked in, and the hiss-crack of her lightsaber smashing through stone drowned out the sharp intake of the foundation cracking around them and subsequently failing.

She ducked back, rolling through a somersault, then came up on her feet; Her blade came up in a guard high by her right ear. That one collided with the ground before her, shattering into a cloud of dust that only her shadow and blade could cut through -- then the entire fething street came tumbling down and her frame became encased in a storm of dust and debris.

Her face screwed up in incredulity.

A beat.

He'd find her unmoved.

Jade was encased in a ball in the center of the field, her Force shield shimmering around her and the child attached to her back, a milky luminescence maintained barely a finger-span from her body... her shield was undoubtedly strong enough to protect against the previous onslaught and more.

Widening her stance, her chest grows with air -- chiming in on the ebb and flow of the Force -- she dissipated her shield before drawing it in as if she were shrugging on a well worn cloak; she drew it close, before loosening her grip on its familiar embrace. She let the current of power fall around her in a wave, sharpening her senses.

"Is that it your majesty? I hope not." she smirked, before habitually titled her head, "But don't you worry, I'll keep this between us girls."

She was cautious about engaging, more so because she could feel the dark energy thickening the air...and she knew better than to spoon feed it.

if they're watching anyways
Seeing a familiar face -- well, sort of familiar -- was a comfort to Auteme. She'd hit a rhythm of helping people into the Tower of Law, and this was a nice break in that terribly odd familiarity of aiding others escape from danger. Not that the situation overall was nice. "Oh, um," she said turning to the deaf woman and the protocol droid that accompanied her. "I'm just helping people get into..." She paused, then began to sign the rest of her sentence as she realized the woman might not be able to hear her. Having a protocol droid translate during a stressful, dangerous situation was a bit of a waste of time.

"Just do what you can."

While at first that meant helping the civilians inside, it was only a moment before that was blown open in the same way that a half-dozen nearby buildings were. The Sith had arrived, and they certainly weren't pulling punches -- Auteme was knocked off her feet as the shockwave hit her, rubble and debris flying everywhere. The sound of blaster fire rang out as the Sith soldiers poured into the broken streets of Glastro. Screams, too, filled the air as civilians were caught in the crossfire. There weren't many soldiers around, and next to no one who was armed, considering the Bimms' ban on weapons. The teenager had to rely on the Force.

She dove into cover at the bottom of the staircase up to the Tower, sensing her surroundings. The Sith were swarming in. There were greater presences a little ways away, but closest to her were a group of soldiers firing on civilians hiding near the entrance of the building. She needed to protect them, needed to move... for a moment she found herself frozen, taken back to the times she'd fought, been afraid, felt the power of the Sith.

She had power too.

One of the soldiers stepped close to where she'd taken cover. Auteme didn't hesitate this time -- with a swift and fluid movement she stepped towards and into the trooper, striking away his weapon, then sending him sprawling into one of his squadmates with a solid push with the Force. Before they could recover she'd disappeared behind more debris. They'd try, but Auteme wouldn't let them get past her.

As the defending Jedi sprung their trap and unleashed their automatic fire and mortars and anti-aircraft fire, the Lady of Secrets regarded the beginning destruction from her position with... was boredom the right word she was feeling? No, perhaps disappointment? No, that didn't quite fit either. The enemy was thinking in terms completely like that of a dirt general, military tactics and stratagems. Effective but... yes disappointment was what she was feeling.

They weren't thinking like a Force user.

Artillery and guns and rockets and all of that, while useful, were not everything. No, technology and the weapons it birthed would always pale in comparison to the Force. She might make a fortune off her technology investments, but the real work was always about furthering her studies of the Force and their applications.

Amethyst eyes opened and turned amber with the power of the dark side. Whoever the enemy commander was, they clearly thought their air bursts and artillery would be the perfect weapon to destroy the Sith before they reached the city. She was going to prove them wrong, and she was going to relish the additional consequences of what was about to happen. She had to wonder, as she began calling on the avian creatures enslaved to her will, if the Jedi knew the local laws. Such a shame too, they were such lovely looking birds.

From the forest, flocks and flocks and flocks of Bimmisaari tiga loreng took flight and started swarming towards the city, flying low right over the Sith advance. If anyone was watching from the walls, it would be like a massive wispy colorful cloud was providing cover for the Sith. The large amount of birds would intercept much of the artillery fire raining down and bursting above the column, and for every one that died, well... she had to wonder if it was a fine or jail time.

Checking her lightsaber, she began making her way to the city and the front.

"Master Arenais, this is Padawan Reggie Faayare. Me and another Jedi are defending some of the civilians in another area that's not too far from where you are.
We don't have that many forces with us, so it would be appreciated if we could get a few Rangers over here before the invaders overwhelm us".
The words were an intrusion upon Veiere's concentration, though not an unwelcome one as he opened himself up to the telepathic connection [member="Reggie Faayare"] had sought after. The strength of the connection and Veiere's aura would be enough for the Padawan to realize that his words had been heard, Veiere to give instructions only after having given orders to the Troops across the comm-lines.

"I need a Ranger contingent to the Market Distract immediately" Veiere spoke into his commlink across the Silver Jedi Frequency, "Civilians are on site, accompanied by two Jedi, situation is dire. Dig in deep and hold the line until all civilians can be extracted". Two squads of Silver Regulars would be sent fourth, accompanied by two Scout Snipers to provide overwatch from the rooftops where capable.

'Padawan, reinforcements are in-bound to your location now.
Do what you can until they arrive and then focus on getting the civilians out of harms way.
Bring them to the City Center for extraction via the Spaceport if possible'.
Reggie would have his response, whilst Veiere would return his attention to the central district. "Fortify all positions surrounding the Spaceport, this is now an EVAC Center. Any and all Civilians are to be brought here for extraction to another location on-world where possible. If things get too much, we're going to need reinforcements to get them off of Bimmisaari" Veiere spoke to one of the Commanding Officers of the Ranger Division. "I want an emergency medical station set up nearby, we give treatment to all who require it but prioritize those who will make it. Ration the equipment, we're going to need everything we've got" The Sith Empire weren't likely to let the Silver Jedi organize their defense without raining some kind of hell down upon them, and while the central City-Scape was as of yet, mostly unaffected, it wouldn't be long before the fighting reached them. Should the central city be overrun then the likelihood of victory here would be hugely disadvantaged.

Something changed.

Over the chaos of a world locked in the flames of conflict something changed. High in the skies over the aerial dogfights of steadfast jedi fighters and the aggressive pursuit of imperial attackers. A series of heavy storm clouds black as pitch took shape over the city of Glastro casting a long shadow over the landscape. As winds picked up and the temperature began to change a series of flashes like flickering lights amidst a sea of darkness came into view as long, flashes of golden yellow lightning struck across the skies. Deep inside the storm a golden light began to shine brighter it started small at first, and rapidly grew brighter until its radiance shined with the beauty of the heavens itself a mesmerizing display across the war torn skies. For just a few moments one could appreciate the beauty of nature in this surging storm before the darkness hit like a tidal wave. The darkness ebbed and flowed as if it was alive crawling across every surface, everything it could touch. Deep in the clouds the dark side descended in full force over the city as strikes of lightning began to lash out. But just then the clouds broke unleashing the blinding light over the landscape and what came out was a colossal monstrosity, a terrible creature pulled from the blackest nightmares. A massive hydra with heads topped with a crown of horns undeniably christening it as the King of the Skies. It dazzled with a body of radiant golden scales and a massive two hundred meter wingspan, a beast over one hundred eighty two meters from the tip of its twin barbed tails to the top of its snouts. The Golden Demon.

Galvanoth the Genocide.

The creature was as beautiful as it was terrible when it dives out alone, unhindered from the protective cover of the encroaching storm taking the dogfights entirely by surprise. It descended at a rapid pace its form streamlined while its aurum scaled body glowed as it neared the first squadrons to pull off against it. Quite suddenly the creature pulled its heads back roaring a deafening, unnatural bellow accompanied by an explosion of lightning from its wings that struck out against the starfighters of the defenders some were outright blown into pieces, while others fell as twisted hulks of debris to the surface. But this beast wasn't alone. There was one lone being astride the great sky demon unlike any other. A being who carried many names the Lord of Lies, Master of Death, Reaper of Worlds. It was the Immortal Shadow Hand, Sovereign of the House Zambrano. Darth Prazutis. All across the Sith-Imperial Battlenet word swept through every channel in their command structure of the arrival in amaze and wonder as the Shadow Hand descended over the city. A world doomed to face the wrath of the Sith Empire and marked for death by tyrants of the foulest order. The Mountain gripped the massive beast as his mind connected with the creature directing its actions. The Shadow Hand made his own path into the conflict approaching ahead of the invading forces. In his approach he poured all of his absolute hatred, the inferno of disdain towards the ember of life and in one fell swoop let it go.

As the creature descended its heads pulled back and quickly surged forward unleashing three great golden graviton beams of pure energy drowning the defenders in wrath. The blasts tore through fortifications, obliterated structures and stripped life from those within its fury. Each beam surged targeting different fortifications before moving onto buildings killing as many as it could until it passed over. Hell itself came with the shadow hand as pods descended by the thousands over the blackened skies, trailed by streaks of what could only be described as blight. They fell like rain and as they collided with the shaken earth creatures of varying sizes from the size of small rats, to castle towers came out. These were no ordinary monsters they were the foulest horrors of the great beyond, terrors from beyond the veil. Their forms were incomprehensibly terrible and so diverse that they defied sense as they walked, crawled, slithered, and surged towards their enemy. They howled as one in their different approaches charging headlong into gunfire ahead of the sith approach just like the master that commanded them.

The Supreme Commander of the Sith war machine, the chief enforcer of the Emperor himself approached the city alone, it was undeniable bait, a rare target of opportunity as he brought his demon down in the center.

The response that Reggie was given gave him some hope. With the Rangers watching their back, they could get the civilians out of harms way. They just needed to wait for their arrival. That would be more difficult than it sounds considering the dark side energy that could be felt a few blocks down. It made it difficult to move for a moment, making him fall to one knee. This was different from the dark side energy [member="Darth Voyance"] gave off on Wayland, more sinister if that was possible. Both struck fear in the Padawan though, it was just one felt more powerful than the other.

"Get up kid, we have to keep fighting."

Reggie was pulled up onto his feet by Simon, who was firing one of his blaster pistols at the enemy as he helped his friend. The Padawan got up to start defending himself again. Pal'ru's words made him feel even more fear. This was a dire situation, especially if the origin of that dark side energy came their way. They couldn't move out though, not yet. Even though Knight Vadarn took out the remaining invaders, they had to wait until their backup arrived.

"We'll gather the civilians now, but we can't leave until the Rangers arrive on our position Knight Vadarn. They'll be here soon and then we can move towards the city center to extract them. If we move now before they arrive, we'll put them in more danger." With that, Reggie went to gather the civilians and remaining allies by their side, wasting no time. They had about eighteen fighters left including him, Knight Vadarn, and Simon. "I want ten of our remaining fighters to take the lead and the remaining to take the rear. Those who aren't fighting will stay in between the two forces, understand? As soon as the Rangers arrive, we move out."

The Padawan looked towards Knight Vadarn. "If you don't mind, could you join the frontal force and lead the way? Me and Simon will take the rear with the rest." The reinforcements he asked for arrived fast, which was good timing. Two snipers on the rooftops and two squads of Silver Regulators were now here to make sure they made it to the Spaceport. "You guys have good timing! If one squad could reinforce our vanguard and the other the rear, that'll be great. Knight Vadarn, please lead the way to the spaceport."

Reggie moved to his position and watched their backside. They should have enough troops to make it to the spaceport without too much trouble.

Palru would nod at Reggies idea. She felt her confidence was in, ironically, how much of a distraction he was. Because if it came down to it, she knew the troops would fire at a Jedi speeding with two lightsabers at them, rather than a few civilians. "Ok, but if things go south... I want you to leave me behind. There are other Jedi nearby that I will not abandon. We get the civilians to the evac zone, and you go with them. After that, I'm going to help end the Sith that are invading us..."

Veiere's eyes were forced skyward in horror as the maelstrom of darkness formed overhead, instantly invoking a knot within the pit of his stomach whilst baring witness to the dragon-like monster clashing against the Starfighters passing over the City before it. The Jedi Master had seen much in his time, and one of their own had been known to ride similar creatures, however this was a monstrosity of another scale and fueled entirely by the Dark Side of the Force. "Rangers?! I want anti-air on that thing! Bring it down!" Veiere shouted, doing his best not to sound panicked in the moment. Poorly chosen words, as the Battle Hydra descended upon the central city, with burning husks of broken fighters coming crashing down alongside the beast and exploding against the city infrastructure. The air before the creature's mouths illuminated for but a second, before it unleashed heavy blasts of concentrated lightning against Glastro's inhabitants as well as the Silver Jedi whom were scrambling to defend it as well as protect themselves.

Soldiers opened fire upon Galvanoth the Genocide, though the Hydra was slowed none in it's approach by their primitive weapons. Those whom were Force Sensitive would feel the creature's connection and attachment to the Darkside, the Sithspawn unlike that which Veiere had faced before yet ultimately proved itself to be a foe requiring the skills and mind of a Jedi to contend with. One of the creature's heads gave off a distinct golden glow as it looked in the Jedi Master's direction, the Force calling out to him in warning, guiding his instincts as well as the Master's hands to raise up before him just in time before the Hydra unleashed another cataclysmic blast of fire and lightning. The earth around Veiere and the Ranger's closest to him tore asunder, yet the presence of the Lightside erupted around the Jedi Master forming a perimeter of untouched soil as he summoned all of his focus into projecting a Force Shield against the creature's attack.

Fire and ash descended upon his surroundings as the creatures attack subsided, the Jedi Master's hands slowly falling while the shouts and startled responses of the Rangers around him seemed unable to contain their disbelief in their miraculous survival. Veiere's right hand shifted to that of his hip however, detaching the Lightsaber that he carried, both hilts presently connected in the center to form a double-blade if required, or otherwise independently charged. He wished to keep his left free of restrictions, for the Force was his ally and certain to be an asset against such a powerful foe.

Stepping forward, Veiere detached the cloak from around his shoulders and soon proceeded to ignite one of the blades of his Lightsaber, the green energy snapping out with a charged thrum of radiant light against the already war-torn surface of the City Center. He hadn't yet spotted the beasts rider, though the presence of [member="Darth Prazutis"] was unmistakable. Somewhere nearby the Hydra, was the Sith Lord responsible for some of the greater travesties of the Force, crimes of war against Galactic Society, as well as being personally responsible for the current state of House Arenais. The presence of the Hydra alone was a hindrance compared to the wealth of Pain the Lord of Lies had caused Veiere and his loved ones.

Again his left hand extended, reaching out towards the Hydra. No words were uttered, but in a blinding response to the beasts own disastrous power, Veiere Arenais unleashed the full extent of his control over the Force as well as his years of practice and study in the art of Force Light. The air before Veiere warped, projecting a concussive blast of pure lightsided energy solely focused upon the Hydra, pouring everything into the concentrated attack. Some of the soldiers closest to Veiere were forced to shield their eyes, whilst any Force Practitioners nearby would feel the sudden wealth of power and presence of the light emanating from the central district where the Jedi Master faced off against the three headed Hydra.

There were few times where Veiere was forced to let go of his restraint, to show the full extent of his capabilities. This was decidedly one of those times.

Nearly a year had passed, and Gaen Malek was days away from his ascension into the ranks of the Sun Guard. He was at an all-time low when the Thyrsians took him in. They gave him purpose when he believed there was nothing left for him. They gave him a family, which showed him the way back from a dark abyss. It was through their tough love that Gaen was reforged anew, and his shame from another life became nothing more than a distant memory. He was worthy and took every chance the man could prove it. He earned his place, but only one more deployment stood in his way.

The Sith Empire sought to employ the services of the Sun Guard once more, and their Supreme Sun Guardian agreed. He gleefully took their credits, relishing the chance to stand atop the battlefield once more. However, the full might of the Golden Company wasn’t necessary for an excursion like this. Let the Sith boldly threaten the entirety of their command structure over an insignificant world. The Sun Guard would remain behind to reinforce and secure the astral borders of Thyrsus from threats beyond their binary star cluster. What was sent to the distant world of Bimmisaari was a token force - specializing in the Thyrsian combat style of Lightning Warfare.

A single cruiser, with a gathering of frigates and corvettes acting as a highly-mobile escort, would form the core of this spear-thrust - while another vessel lingered on the fringes of the system - ready to insert themselves into the maelstrom if required. In addition to this spatial taskforce, nearly two Tercio Legions of Thyrsian Auxilia troopers sought to join the fray - supported in turn by a mighty Warband of Sun Guard. Every soul within this expeditionary force was all too eager to prove themselves against the Silver Jedi and their oath-sworn forces.

Gaen wasn’t looking forward to fighting against such legendary warriors - but there was a part of him that believed it was the nerves talking. He wasn’t armed, or armoured like his would-be kindred, and would be bisected before the day was done. Yet, there was a chance that he could emerge victoriously. Where he could gun down one of these sabre-wielding monks, and claim a mighty trophy. How many of the other Initiates could match such a great trinket? Surely none within his Cadre. That thought alone brought a smile to his face. His lips peeled wider, however, as the lumen strips within the dropship began pulsing a vital crimson. It was almost as if the lights themselves began to match the thunderous staccato beating within the confines of his armoured breast.

He stood then, rising in unison with the others that populated the troop deck of the transport. They looked to their arms and armour, ensuring that all last-minute preparations were attended too. Gaen followed suite. He slammed a fresh magazine into his solarized plasma rifle and racked the slide, and felt a measure of glee peel back his lips as the weapon let out a small harmonized chorus whilst it accrued lethality. Slinging his charged, and battle-ready rifle around a pauldron, Gaen noticed that the slow, pulsating lights stopped. Something was amiss. The lights should’ve turned green by now. They should’ve been disembarking, and jumping into the thick of-

:: BRACE FOR IMPACT! :: An unfamiliar voice called out, using the transport’s announcement system to carry his words. :: IMPACT IN THREE!::

:: TWO!::

“Oh, Karabast!”

:: BRACE! BRACE!! BRAC-::

Gaen Malek’s world went white.
For what seemed like ages, that colour was all he could see. His hearing was shot and replaced by a constant and annoying ring - like someone was beating the side of an ancient bell with a hammer. It wasn’t until a measure of time later that the man’s senses began to return. However, it was far from instant and was more akin to the stretching sensation of oil being poured over a block of ice. When his vision cleared, Gaen saw his surroundings bathed in flame. He was still sequestered inside the downed transport and surrounded by dozens of broken struts and the odd body or two. The man was lucky. He somehow managed to survive the crash with nothing more than a concussion, and several points in his armour being rendered useless - thanks to the thermal gel padding.

His mobility was hampered by the plates beneath his armour, and it took more effort than the man would like to admit to free himself from his predicament. After tearing out the spent pads and pulling himself to his feet, Gaen took a moment to collect his wargear - and his bearings after that. His helmet’s visor was cracked, leaving him with a partially functioning targeting system and a map - split in two. Aside from the marginal protective properties the sundered husk offered, the helm was all but useless, and the Mercenary was tempted to discard it. Yet, as the helmet’s comms system crackled to life, filling the man’s ears with a flood of static - Gaen’s hands were stayed.

:: Soldier! :: the voice began. :: Get out of there! ::

“Wha-” He started, before the ringing in his ears got worse and his vision swam with pulsing agony.

:: Get out of that damned dropship! ::

The voice was right. He needed to get out of that accursed transport. His fellow soldiers were either dead or gone. Gaen couldn’t tell. Tendrils of billowing smoke began to filter into his sundered helm, filling his lungs thereafter. If he stayed, the man would die before the flames consumed his corpse. He needed to move. The Mercenary forced himself out of the downed transport, using the butt of his rifle to smash his way through a sealed hatch or two, before clambering out into the madness that awaited him. As Gaen pulled himself free, his wounded senses were overloaded by the sounds of war. Blasters were discharged nearby, while artillery pieces and anti-aerial emplacements thundered in the distance. Terrible screeches emanated from the dust-choked skies, as their bestial screams were joined by those of mortal men.

It was… too much. The man wrenched his damaged helm free and carelessly tossed it aside. He needed to catch his breath.

That was when several members of the local populace emerged from a nearby ruin. The Bimms, both Furred and Near-Human alike, were considered to be peaceful people. Their weapons were nearly non-existent and regulated by the Silver Jedi - who sought to protect this seemingly insignificant world from external threats. Despite this inherent pacifism, those that emerged from the ruins held a wild look in their eyes. Gaen was a hostile invader, in their eyes. He came to this world, attacked without warning, and was now stranded behind enemy lines - far away from reinforcements of any kind. Easy pickings, in their eyes.

They approached with pilfered weapons, taken from the hands of the fallen Sith Soldiers who perished nearby. Some were armed with rifles, whilst others chose the pistols as their weapon of choice. Gaen couldn’t move and was - by all accounts - as good as dead.

“Go on,” the Mercenary murmured through clenched teeth. “Finish me, Curs.”

The Bimms, with an uncharacteristic hatred in their eyes, raised their motley collection of blasters toward the wounded Initiate. Even at this range, weapons training mattered little. They’d riddle his carcass with blaster scores before he had time to cry out in agony. Gaen couldn’t help himself then, as he started laughing. Everything he worked this past year was about to be thrown into the gutter, and his bright future as a Sun Guard was to be forever denied to him. All of it - taken away by a mixture of Near-human and Mammalian trash. His laughter rose several octaves, which caused a ripple of confusion to flutter through the ranks of the advancing Bimms.

Surely, the man was mad.

It was then that the whine of distant engines filled their ears, drawing their attention, and their weapons after that, towards the flak-strewn heavens. Several ochre lances stained Gaen’s retinas as they speared through the dust, reducing a handful of his assailants to nothing more than piles of smouldering ashes. Those that survived the first assault found themselves running back into the ruins - seeking to hide away from whatever disintegrated their comrades. Gaen continued laughing but found his convulsions joyous - rather than bidden by the prospect of death. As he sucked in the particulate remnants of the locals and the dust spicing the atmosphere, the Mercenary flicked his gaze towards an indistinct figure stalking forth from the debris.

The figure was clad in armour, seemingly wrought from gold and bathed in an emerald, plasmatic corona encapsulating his entire form. This individual wielded a brace of gilded pistols in their taloned gauntlets, and their helmet was crowned by a shock of crimson and ivory hair - shaped into a warrior’s crest. It was a Sun Guard. There was no doubt about it.

With the ragtag militia of hate-spurned Bimms scattered to the winds, the Sun Guard holstered one of their pistols and deactivated their shield. Seconds later, Gaen’s forearm was proverbially swallowed by the aureate talons - before his entire body was wrenched upwards, and forcing the Mercenary to regain his footing.

“You laugh in the face of death,” the Sun Guard said, as Gaen finished steadying himself. “That is good. You will make a great Sun Guard, should you survive this battle.”

“Good?” Gaen blurted out. “ I just survived a crash landing and an ambush… I should’ve died!

“Yes, you should’ve!” The Sun Guard said, whilst nodding in agreement. “But by the grace of the Twinned Suns - You yet stand and laugh at the prospect of death. This is the Thyrsian way. This is why I shall call you Brother in due time. Now pick-up your weapon and let us get back into the fight.”

Gaen was taken aback. He couldn’t place the figure’s voice before - but now that he spoke more, and the ringing in his ears stopped… that Sun Guard was Khonsu Amon; Master of their Gilded Order. He was saved by the Supreme Sun Guardian himself. The Mercenary couldn’t help but swell with excitement at the thought. The man even started to chuckle as he fell in step - after snatching up his rifle and re-racking the slide - behind the Gilded Warlord.

“This is the way.” He muttered.

“The Thyrsian way...”

"I would not be so confident if I were you, Jedi."

He raised his right arm, bent ninety degrees at the elbow with the flat of his palm extended out before him with fingers rigid and straight. The rubble around Romi began to move again of its own accord, except instead of converging on the Jedi Master it instead pushed away from her until all that was left beneath her feet was the ruined cobble of the street. The swirling mass of debris and rubble continued to whirl around and around in a wide cyclone, forming a sort of physical barrier around the Emperor's chosen location.

Dark energy coalesced around the Sith Emperor, wisps of black smog sloughing off of his titanic form like water from a river stone. Though imperceivable, the energy seemed to dissipate to create a series of lethally sharp shards of pure energy in the sky above the Emperor and Jedi Master. Carnifex let his arm fall forward, as if giving the signal to let loose a volley of blaster bolts, and down fell the shards of imperceivable energy towards the Jedi Master. They moved fast through the air in their descent, almost eager in their attempt to skewer Romi Jade where she stood.

The struggle between Sith and Jedi could be witnessed well above the skyline of Glastro, the swirling whirlwind of debris and dark energy more than visible to the naked eye.

“Angel Seven, bandit on your six.”

The Jedi pilot sensed her intentions before she even knew what they were.

The Force-sensitive pilot of the nimble ETA-4 interceptor immediately executed a rapid barrel roll and deployed the reverse thrusters to kill speed, thereby causing Elsa to overshoot her target as a consequence of the aggressive lead pursuit angle she had established in the process of creating her firing solution. In the span of two seconds, Elsa found herself on the defensive where she had once been comfortably on the offensive. She had been carrying too much speed into her pursuit, making her extremely vulnerable to any defensive maneuvers designed to exploit that. Unfortunately, Elsa could not reflect too much longer on her mistakes. Instead, she set her focus on staying alive and ensuring that she did not end up in a POW camp far from Sith-Imperial space.

Almost immediately, alarms went off around her as her interceptor’s sensors detected a missile lock. In response, Elsa turned on her missile deactivation transmitter, in an effort to scramble the missile’s electronic guiding systems. Then, after glancing at her threat indicator to determine which side of her craft the bandit was closest to, she rolled to set the wings of her craft 85 degrees to the right followed by a hard break turn in that same direction upon processing that her pursuer was closer to that side.

Unfortunately, the Jedi pilot mirrored Elsa and executed her exact same actions with eerily precise timing. However, he activated the reverse thrusters of his interceptor in order to increase his turning rate and to compensate for the significantly higher maneuverability of the Sith-Imperial interceptor. As such, the Jedi still maintained the offensive. However, only moments before he fired a salvo of bolts from the rapid fire laser cannons mounted on the wings of his craft, Elsa focused the power of her interceptor’s shields towards the rear fuselage section. Nevertheless, three of the energized bolts struck her interceptor, triggering a lightshow of warning lights as the power of her shields rapidly fell below 15 percent.

The Jedi only needed one well-placed shot to end the fight.

However, as he was lining up his crosshairs for a final shot, the Jedi felt an overwhelmingly dark and malevolent presence in the currents of the Force, which elicited an extremely painful sensation as his powerful connection to that arcane energy field was violently assailed by an unrelenting torrent of dark side energy. The combination of physical stress from high-G offensive maneuvering and the metaphysical anguish of the dark side caused the Jedi to lose consciousness for what would have been a relatively short duration of five seconds, had that not been more than enough time for Elsa to establish a low aspect angle with the Jedi interceptor and execute a precise firing solution.

In an instant, a moment of incapacitation turned into an eternity of oblivion.

To say the sly little Jedi Sentinel was upset would be quite the understatement With the sudden outburst of violence. Lately he had certainly been putting off his Silver Jedi duties in favor of his own personal business ventures. He’d been planning a major long con on some of the locals for the past two or three months. He understood that they only cared to import high end technology. So he planned to sell them what they would think was high end tech but instead were cheap homemade counterfeit knockoffs.

There he was, probably about to strike the deal of his lifetime until the capital became a warzone and the Sith ruined his big moment. Looking up at the Sith invasion forces for the sky his waved his tiny fists up at their ships and cursed them. “Why Evil Jedi always be a so bad?!” He said in his heavily accented and broken Galactic Standard.

When he looked around the street he was in he saw the panic of the civilians his little gold plated heart, financed through his many scams, couldn’t let him sit idly by while normal hard working people could get their lives ruined. Even though someone as small and inconspicuous as him could easily flee the seen, his crooked morals got the best of him. “Aww Fooy!”

Using his Force aided speed to dash through the streets he would be in search of a situation he could find himself useful in. Weather that be apprehending Sith soldiers or helping the local citizenry.
