  • Defensive Bulwark: The GFL Weapons Squad while given the same basic training as the Rifle Squad they also receive more training in more effective defensive tactics
  • Well Trained: Many members of the Legion are many military veterans and those that aren't are well trained during their initial training and are then further trained by the more veteran members of their squads
Weaknesses:
  • Rather Small: While well trained and well equipped the GFL Rifle Squad is still a rather small unit and if alone could be easily overwhelmed by a unit of larger proportions
  • Reloading: The GFL primarily uses slugthrowers and while there are some upsides to this the downside is they require reloading more frequently, something an enemy could exploit
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
With the basic building blocks of the GFL combat structure organized, in the form of the GFL Rifle Squad, Noah began work on creating more specialized squads to augment and support the Rifle Squads. The first of these 'supporting' units to be formed were the Weapons Squad, which would be a more defensively oriented unit. In order to chose the right Legionnaires the Legion used psychological profiles they had collected, something each Legionnaire willing submitted to upon joining the Legion, to find Legionnaires who exhibited defensive qualities that would lend them to be more effective in defensive fighting.

With the right Legionnaires chosen the basic structure of the squad needed to be figured out. To do this Noah kept the same size of the Rifle Squad, twenty Legionnaires, and replaced certain roles within the squads with others that would better fit the Weapons Squad defensive nature.

The squad consists of a squad leader whose job it is to, obviously, lead the squad. Next is the comms operators/assistant squad leader whose job it is to coordinate comms between the two fireteams the squad is split into as well as taking command if the squad leader is incapacitated. From there the squad is split into two separate fireteams, called Aurek and Besh, who are lead by their team leaders who also double as two extra combat engineers to help with defensive warfare.

Each fireteam is made up of a combat medic who tends to the medical needs of the entire team; a combat engineers who's training in defensive explosive use and barrier construction give each team a a bigger defensive edge; two machine gunners who are equipped with the heavier but hard-hitting cousin of the LMG-01, the GPMG-01; two assistant machine gunners who as their name suggests assist the machine gunners in operating the GPMG-01, help in reloading and carry extra ammunition as well; a recoilless rifle gunner who's job it is to operate the VML-01, a 90mm recoilless rifle; and lastly a assistant recoilless rifle gunner who's job, like the assistant machine gunner, is to assist the recoilless rifle gunner in operating the VML-01, reloading it and carrying extra ammo.
