WEAKNESSES
  • Heavy and Very Heavy: Just like its smaller counterpart the GPMG-01 is a heavy weapon, even more so when mounted onto its tripod
  • High Recoil: Like any high rate of fire and high stopping power weapon the GPMG-01 has a high amount of recoil when not mounted on its tripod
  • Large Size: Like any machine gun the GPMG-01 is a rather large and unwieldy weapon even when mounted
DESCRIPTION
After finishing work on the LMG-01 the Hekler'Kok R&D team thought that they might have a case on their hands where the LMG-01 didn't provide enough stopping power much like the AR-01. To remedy this they took the LMG-01 and gave it the BR-01 treatment, making a larger and more powerful version of the LMG-01, the General Purpose Machine Gun-Model 01 or GPMG-01. As usual the team began with choosing the materials and decided to keep the same materials they had used in the LMG-01. Any part made of metal was crafted from their patented Titanium-Alusteel alloy to shave as much weight as possible off without sacrificing durability, with its furniture being made from Plastoid for the same reason. The barrel was plated with Chromium to reduce damage to it with the outside of it being plated in CeramiCoat for the same reason.

With the materials and the design finished the R&D team began with the final aspect of the process, putting the features they thought would be needed on the weapon. Like with all Hekler'Kok weapons ambidextrous controls were added to better accommodate all users. Like its smaller counterpart it is equipped with a recoil buffer system, heavy barrel and compensator to reduce recoil. An optic and accessory rails were added to help users better customize it to fit their needs. A quick change barrel was added in case the barrel ever needs to be removed due to overheating, a carrying handle to help with transporting the weapon, a bipod to give users more stability when firing and lastly an attachment system to allow it to be mounted on a tripod on the ground or a pintle mount on a vehicle.
