ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Gagazet-class vessels are heavily armored and shielded due to the use of Titan-type Advanced Plating and the Kirin Shielding System, along with additional reinforcement of the internal structures of the ship. They also make use of 120 Leviathan point-defense emplacements for additional protection against attacking fighter craft, missiles, torpedoes, etc.
  • Gagazet-class vessels are outfitted with extensive mining and manufacturing capabilities, with massive cargo and material storage, with multiple molecular furnaces and fabrication equipment for anything from clothing, weapons, equipment, and droids. Plasma drills and gas processing vanes allow the ships to extract the materials they need on their own, whether it be minerals or gases, and the ship has multiple tractor beams and magnetic cargo cranes to load and unload materials, equipment, and even vehicles.
  • Gagazet-class vessels have hangar bay facilities able to house ten squadrons of small craft, with the hangars split between a smaller fighter bay and a larger bay for support vessels such as shuttles and transports. The ships are preloaded with a squadron of gas skimmers and a squadron of mineral extractors, although this does take up some space in the support craft bay but these can be swapped out for other craft depending on the intended use of the ship.
  • Gagazet-class vessels are outfitted with both a Syldra Communications Suite and a Divine Eyes Sensor and Electronics System, giving them several methods of secure communications and a large variety of sensors they can utilize while moving through systems.
WEAKNESSES
  • Gagazet-class vessels, while heavily armored and shielded, are equipped with no offensive capabilities to speak of and their only armaments are point-defense emplacements. They have to rely upon other supporting ships, their own armor and shielding, and the squadrons they can field.
  • If the various molecular furnaces on the vessel, whether they be in the engines or the manufacturing portion of the ship, are sabotaged, they can cause a chain reaction that can consume significant portions of the engines or the ship and severely damage it.
  • Due to the shield emitters of the Kirin being scattered across the hull, if parts of the hull become damaged, gaps can form in the overlapping shield layers of the vessel. In addition, as the sensors for the Divine Eyes system are also scattered along the hull, damage to it can knock out and create blind spots in the passive sensor array.
DESCRIPTION

Developed as part of Aurora Industries' Highwind Program, the starship that would become known as the Gagazet-class Manufactory Vessel was a first for the company. The idea for the vessel came about as the company, sponsoring the recovery efforts in the Centrality, understood that much of the manufacturing capabilities in the region remained crippled and would need continued support to fully restore itself.

Gagazet-class vessels are first and foremost mobile factory ships, built around ten large molecular furnaces and other numerous smaller fabricators to supply any material good, whether it be clothes, weapons, armor, droids, equipment, and many other things for colonists or struggling worlds. The design team of the vessel also wanted to make sure it could ensure a constant supply of materials, giving it massive holds for cargo and materials such as minerals and ores along with several mining and processing facilities such as plasma drills and gas processing vanes.

To protect the manufacturing capabilities of the ship, Gagazet-class vessels are equipped with the Titan-type Advanced Plating for its hull and the Kirin Shielding System for multiple layers of defense. The ships are also outfitted with over a hundred Leviathan point-defense emplacements, foregoing offensive weaponry for more space for the factories within and the large hangar and cargo bays. Gagazet-class vessels can also field ten squadrons of small craft, although only three of those squadrons are fighter craft. The rest of the hangar space is reserved for squadrons of support craft such as shuttles or mining craft such as gas skimmers and mineral extractors.
