+ / — Altered Genetics, "Changeling" — On his homeworld of Zolan, Caedes was selected (near the time of his birth) to participate in the highly dangerous scientific experimentations of a Clawdite supremacy terrorist cell called Zynt'Ek. Zynt'Ek was an extremist Clawdite group who fought against the lethal prejudice and xenophobic warcrimes of the Zolanders with whom they shared their world (the genetic forebears of the Clawdite species). The participants for this project, code-named "Ascendancy," were selected from local orphanage groups and represented a disproportionate amount of middle aged children and even younger youth. Pushed to desperation, Zynt'Ek's Ascendancy Project was meant to discover if genetic mutation could be used to unlock rapid-species-evolution. Hypothesis: being that the Clawdite species was already the product of nuclear mutation and evolutionary resilience, their cellular structure would be more likely to mutate under intense nuclear exposure rather than deteriorate.
Subjects were submitted to high doses of 'controlled' nuclear treatment, relying on the Clawdite's aforementioned predisposition to genetic mutation. Most entrants perished. A few showed signs of genetic mutation in various forms before death, but Caedes was the sole survivor. Around the same time, Jedi Knight Keba Sueen exposed the illegal group and shut down their operation, rescuing Caedes in the process. Later, he became a Jedi Knight, studying beneath Keba Sueen where he learned to control the genetic differences granted him by Zynt'Ek's Ascendancy.
It is common for Clawdites to undergo a period of pain during each 'skin change' or transformation, their skin stretching and pulling to mimic whatever form it is they're taking. In some cases, their skin rips or tears, and active changers are forced to apply concentrated oils to their body in order to keep themselves moisturized. Resulting from nuclear exposure, Caedes body is covered in scarification such that his skin has a different consistency than most of his kindred, more malleable, resilient, and resistant to pain. Additionally, 'skin changing' often demands great concentration from the transformed Clawdites, which can be broken during moments of unconsciousness or surprise. Caedes has never suffered from this weakness, able to shift and hold forms almost indefinitely.
Although Caedes survived Zynt'Ek's Ascendancy, he was forever wounded by their treatment and his cellular composition was left devastated as a result. Beginning at a far younger age than the reported 'average,' Caedes' body began to deteriorate and become cancerous. His overall mortal life expectancy and physical vital force had been all but diminished. Only with Sith Sorceries and the dark side of the Force is Darth Caedes now sustained.

"You would do well to remember that these children, doctor, could very well be the future of Zolan, of our species."

+ Paragon Of The Force — From the time of his youth, training as a Jedi Padawan, Nejaa displayed a powerful and raw connection to the more tangible aspects of the Force. He was quick to learn the Jedi's telekinetic abilities, and was later able to employ them in order to accomplish drastic feats. During his tenure as a Padawan, Nejaa learned how to manifest pyrokinetic Force talents from space faring monks. Later, these same talents became the hallmark of Darth Caedes aggression. He was quick to learn new tricks and comprehend those that he could observe, intuiting the Force in creative ways. In his fall to the dark side of the Force, Nejaa showed signs of early proficiency with techniques like Force lightning and Force destruction. As Darth Caedes, that deepened connection to the Force fuels his exploits into Sith sorcery and unnatural magiks.

+ Lightsaber Duelist — Placing a disproportionate amount of attention on the mastery of various Jedi forms in his youth, Caedes has always displayed a certain degree of brilliance with the lightsaber. Forever drawn to skills centering on self preservation, defense, and attack, Caedes learned to make the blade his natural extension with overwhelming efficacy on the battlefield. During his training beneath Jedi Master Darron Wraith, Nejaa was even instructed in the deadly art of Vaapad.

Form I: Shii-Cho • Master. | "Form I, also called Shii-Cho, requires little explanation, as every Jedi youngling learns the basics of attack, parry, body target zones, and practice drills called velocities." ―Cin Drallig |
Form II: Makashi • Master. | "Form II, also called Makashi, represents the ultimate refinement of lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat." ―Cin Drallig on Form II |
Form III: Soresu • Expert. | "A… defensive technique. But effective. Use it if you do not wish to be hit, or if you are facing many opponents with blasters. With a lightsaber blade and enough skill in deflection, it is an excellent offense against blasters, but in other situations, it merely delays the inevitable." ―Kreia |
Form IV: Ataru • Expert. | "Ataru is the name given to the movements of this form - though it is aggressive, it is focused, and its best use is in combat against a single opponent." ―Zez-Kai Ell |
Form V: Shien/Djem So • Adept. | "Peace through superior firepower." ―Jedi maxim on Form V |
Form VI: Niman • Adept. | "Is Form VI the most worthy of study? No, but in general it is the most practical." ―Cin Drallig |
Form VII: Juyo/Vaapad • Expert. | "Six there were for generations of Jedi. The seventh, is not well-known. Powerful form it is. Deadliest of all. But dangerous it is, for its master as well as its opponent. Few have studied. One student alone, to mastery has risen." ―Yoda |

— Frail Body — Owing to his childhood with Zynt'Ek, and furthermore to his old age, Darth Caedes bones have grown thin and his muscles tired. No longer is he indestructible and boundless by the merits of youth alone. Now, he must seek other means to attain bodily power, drawn deeper and deeper into the clutches of the dark side's embrace.
— Dark Side Corruption — Owing to his sustained use of the dark side to prolong his life, Darth Caedes has become reliant upon the use of dark side energy for survival, fueling an ever present inferno of emotions and passions which never rests and verges ever nearer to madness.

APPEARANCE: In their natural form, Clawdites have the appearance of reptilian humanoids, and are in fact evolved from reptomammals. They have sunken cheeks with a narrow nose and a small mouth. A thin line runs down their foreheads and creases the center of their noses. Caedes possesses sunken eyes with slit-like pupils. His irises are a rippling gold until he becomes immersed in the powers of the dark side, at which point they glow red. Clawdite's skin is rough, and while it ordinarily ranges in color from green to yellow, Caedes' skin remains burnt and grey from his exhaustive use of the Force.
BIOGRAPHY: Once a loyal and talented Jedi by another name, Caedes' path took a jagged turn when his Order fell to the hands of Sith, eventually leading him to embrace the darkness they brought with them in the Force. Consumed by fear and a growing fascination with the forbidden powers of the dark side, he descended into madness and became a formidable Dark Jedi who called himself Darth Caedes.
Driven by an insatiable hunger for power, Darth Caedes spent years delving into the mysteries of the Force, wandering the vast reaches of the galaxy in search of buried secrets. In his relentless pursuit, he sought out ancient Sith teachings, Sith magic, and secrets hidden in forgotten tombs and temples. Each dark revelation fueled his obsession and forged a sinister connection to the malevolent energies of the dark side.
During his journey, Darth Caedes stumbled upon an ancient Sith Temple, where the Force granted him a vision of a looming era of darkness. Blinded by his own madness, Caedes interpreted this vision as a divine calling, believing that he was chosen by the Force to prepare the Jedi for this inevitable threat. Convinced that the Jedi Order was plagued by weakness, he came to the twisted conclusion that he must cleanse their ranks, culling the herd to ensure their readiness.
Driven by his tortured delusions and cunning insights, Darth Caedes traversed various worlds, consulting with seers and seeking out hidden knowledge. He scoured the darkest corners of the galaxy, following the whispers of the dark side and becoming ever more proficient in the deadly arts of Jedi hunting.
Enthralled by his own capability for savagery, Darth Caedes became a relentless and cruel Jedi Hunter, driven by his distorted mission to eradicate what he deemed as weakness from within the Order. He hunted Jedi and Force sensitives, friends, associates of Jedi, one by one, leaving a trail of death and destruction in his wake. His once-noble skills twisted into merciless ferocity, Caedes unleashed his dark powers to extinguish the lives of those he had once called kin.
Through the desolation he wrought, Darth Caedes grew to revel in his growing sense of power, the freedom from fear it provided, and the perverse satisfaction that came with each new fallen Jedi or defeated challenge. Madness consumed him, driven by the urge to test himself against a galaxy he had once so fervently feared. His actions became increasingly savage and unpredictable. The Force, tainted by his twisted connection, fueled his descent into an abyss of darkness and depravity.
