THEED

A Time for Dusk. A Time for Change.

For many years, Naboo had been a quiet member of the Southern community - that is, until glorious purpose was thrust upon it. When the Confederacy sought a new haven for the representatives of their midst, it was the verdant world which opened its arms. The late Queen Kairi had played the part of gracious host to the Viceroyalty, permitting them to erect a fitting home in the heart of Theed. Yet, for as charitable as her heart was, she would not live to see the fruits of her kindness. Her life met an untimely end in recent history.

There was a time to mourn. A time where the flags of the Viceroyalty chambers were lowered to half-mast. A time where a solemn air hung upon the shoulders of Naboo and her people. A time to grieve that which once was - and a time to live ever boldly for the sake of their memory.

As the black veils lifted from the eyes of the people, it was time for the new monarch to lead her people anew. And straightway, Queen Saraya Arenais made it plain that she was up for the task. The works of charity and peace undertaken by the throne were resumed. Naboo would move ever forward into a brighter tomorrow - now as the beating heart of the Confederacy. To say that the nation itself was grateful was an understatement. Such selflessness was not ignored or forgotten, and thus the Viceroyalty opened their freshly constructed halls.

The Crown Gala had begun.

For one night only, the halls devoted to birthing the laws of the Confederacy would be adorned with every manner of gilding. Music would radiate through every corridor - mingled with the succulent aroma of countless delights. From every corner of the nation had come entertainers, chefs, musicians; all tasked with making the Gala an evening to remember. The doors were then opened to the people - and all within Theed were invited to wear their finery and to partake!

For this night, the Confederacy said thank you to the Crown of Naboo.

Spoiler: Points of Interest

The greatest chamber - where the Viceroyalty would meet to discuss the future of the Confederacy - has been converted into a radiant ballroom. Glistening chandeliers adorn the ceilings, whilst musicians stand atop multiple balconies. Tables line the exterior for dining, whilst attendant droids bearing drink and meals cater to the patrons. Here, one may drink or dance the night away!​

The gardens - a feat of marble and roses - have also been opened to the people. Here, the wandering soul can find respite from the noise of the event. Benches and fountains are scattered throughout the verdant area. And all manner of arbor can be found. There is even a labyrinth of hedges to get lost within!​

Whilst the new home of the Viceroyalty is certainly the star, the surrounding city of Theed is thriving for the event. There are many shops to browse, and many more locales to explore. The night is yours - how will you spend it?​

[Cazo Thraos]

O B J E C T I V E​

Cazo watched from her spot aside from the dancing groups. She was not in uniform, but she was pulling guard duty rather than enjoying herself. She was a commander, not a vice royal or anything spectacular. There would be a number of well known people in attendance for this, and she wasn't nervous about trying to protect them all. Truth be told, she had heard that a great number of the people in attendance were more than capable of handling themselves in a fight.

That didn't mean they could handle concentrated turbolaser fire however, which is why Cazo had three Shrike's in orbit, along with several Terrus class vessels patrolling the system. There was a direct holo-link from the command star cruiser Keeper, to the communicator that Cazo had on her.

Her dress was simple compared to most around her of noble blood, and she moved quietly through the crowds, taking a drink with a gracious nod to the serving droid as she moved out of the ballroom for a spot of air. It was a lovely show of people dancing and enjoying each other's company. The drink was sipped on as she took a deep breath of the planets air. It helped clear her head of the fuzzy over hanging sound of people speaking through the music.

After a few more deep breaths of fresh air, and healthy sipping from the champagne all the while, she returned to the ballroom. The click of footsteps around her was a touch annoying, but the scene of people dancing on the ballroom floor made her push through the sound around her.

It was a lovely celebration, and equally lovely was the food stuffs. The drinks were top notch also as she replaced a full glass with her empty glass on a serving tray from a serving droid. Who was counting that she was on her fifth glass?

Stepping into the Ballroom the King of Illyria and Exarch of the Confederacy showed a flawless smile as his eyes took in the sight before him. Elegant music filled the hall before him, casting out a beautiful atmosphere accented with some of the greatest finery the galaxy would ever know. As his amethyst eyes danced from one find adornment to a next he found himself appreciative of the Naboo's sense of taste and decor. It was nearly a match for the finer cues that made Illyria what it was.

Nearly.

He was enjoying the evening as it provided him with a much needed distraction from his many duties on his homeworld and within The Confederacy, while also allowing him much needed time with his beloved wife and Queen. The two had enjoyed a relatively good amount of time together, mostly because their duties and schedules had aligned like so many stars and planets to allow the two to enjoy time together that was more than the fleeting holocall or communing through the various channels of the Force. No, it had been time where Alessandra may sink her hand into her husbands and he may enjoy the sweet smells that fell from her hair. It was these simple, intimate moments which kept the man sane under the weight of his many responsibilities.

"I believe a dance is in order." He told Alessandra, his eyes catching hers in an inviting gaze. Their hands were intertwined as they often were when they were within a few feet of each other. His free hand grasped an ornate walking cane. Carved through Obsidian and Ivory it was a beautifully ornate walking piece with a crystal jewel placed upon the head in the shape of a snarling wolf, the commonly known sigil of House Malvern. Adron stepped in front of his wife, his hand breaking from hers only so he could place it warmly along her cheek in a caress of affection. Brief, yet loving. "The Naboo are well versed in design and aesthetic, but how do you believe they match in the realm of dance?" He wondered curiously. His hand was offered out to his wife before he glanced to the man who stood a few spare steps behind her.

Wearing an ebony and azure suit, the members of Le Garde Des Rois were not often seen outside of their power armor. They wore beautifully tailored suits in place of the metallic skins they were used to. Each member was armed with a vibroblade that seemed more ceremonial than functional, however they were men and women who were more than capable of utilizing the weapons effectively. Adron passed his cane to the man standing behind his wife before guiding her towards the dance floor.

It was rather amusing. Growing up Adron had hated formal dancing to the point where his mother would have to scold him harshly just so he would attend lessons and even then he had never been too good at the art. In adulthood he was a well-practiced dancer, especially since ascending to the throne of Illyria, where the ability to dance was seen as a staple of the Aristocratic community. Perhaps one of the more odd customs, yet if he was to rule a people he must adapt their customs as much as they adapt his.

The moment they stepped onto the dance floor, Adron watched as his guard stepped back, allowing the couple a few yards of space to dance with some privacy. Pulling Alessandra into his arms, they flawlessly fell in step as the man began to speak. "I've been glad to have time together with you. It seems like since Aries was born our time alone has been a bit cut. I suppose that is to be expected, but understanding something doesn't make it any easier." He said, his hands holding hers in an easy grasp as they danced. "Perhaps soon we can take an actual vacation. Something quiet, maybe a trip to Castagne?" He suggested the world where they had first met, as it held some significant meaning to the both of them. "Just the three of us." He assured her.

[Stardust Solus Skirae]

Naboo, her birth planet, there was many to stardust that held great important but above all the others that she cared for and her friends cared for naboo was above it all. It was her escape when she wanted to feel at home once more then among the galaxy with such big titles....or well it was...while councilor of war she may be she elected to not expand her current land any more

But she was here for her house quite the opposite she was here for the center of naboo, theed, a gala was well underway and it would in bad taste if she a councilor didn't show up to it at all, so here she was all dressed up in a nice sea blue dress nothing to showy or anything like that, if anything the only showy thing was her head piece that adorned her forehead.

While unarmored she was not unarmed...least visibly so...her right arm was still its concealed blaster one in its arm mode currently. She truely hoped she didn't have to use it at all honestly she truely did want to enjoy this night

WALTZ​

It had been a long time since Alden and Faye Malvern had found themselves at a pause long enough in their duties to the Confederacy that they could take a moment to enjoy it together. It was strange, really, that even as members of the very same Presidium, that they could barely muster the time out of their busy schedules to spend it with one another as this evening presented in itself. But that was what this night seemingly had in store. A break from the never ending rigors of their positions within the Confederacy and a step to a night or leisure and enjoyment. A breath of fresh air exactly when needed.

On this very evening, however, they were not alone. Nor had they intended to be. This was a night of celebration. Of jubilation and unsung happiness. Large moves had come to fruition, both with the Confederacy and in their personal lives as a whole. The Confederate capital had moved, a decision which Alden greatly appreciated, away from the dry, blazen brazier of heat and scorched stone of Geonosis, and to the wonderfully lush, vibrant and full of life, Naboo. The hierarchical structure of the Confederacy had also seen slight changes in that certain processes had been streamlined and clarified. Made easier to understand and follow. And amid it all, personally that had been a momentous occasion for Alden and Faye with regards to their relationship. After having been engaged for as long as they had, the two had finally tied the knot. Finally spoken their vows and committed themselves to one another until death did them apart.

Moreover, Alden had finally amended that hole left within him, when he’d torn his relationship with his new brother-in-law asunder when it was Faye that had revealed to him that the two were indeed a thing. But now it seemed as though everything were moving forward just as it should. Everything was going right and it was something Alden did not want to lose. For the first time in his life, he was truly and unequivocally happy. And it was a happiness he hoped would never end.

He turned his attention to Faye and smiled, holding each of her hands in his own. “Might I have this dance, my Queen?”

[Kat Decoria]

It was a gala event in the Confederacy, that was something that Kat knew she could not afford to miss on. The Confederacy held some of the best parties from what she could remember. While she hadn't lately been focused on her company, deciding to explore and let loose for a few years, she had plans on organising some new equipment and ideas that could benefit the CIS as well as the larger galaxy. Her white hair was well styled, wavy but down, not in the ponytail that she usually wore it in.

Her dress was extremely form fitting, displaying her curves in a manner that was fairly new to most who knew her, she was usually not one for form fitting dresses. Her footwear was thigh high boots, and she was ornate with silver jewellery. Kat inhaled deeply then slowly exhaled, she was nervous and looked very much like her sister currently than her usual appearance. However, she decided to make an effort and figured why not look the best she could.

The woman entered the main hall, seeing people talking and dancing. First, Kat wanted a drink, then she was going to check if she could see any familiar faces. Ordering herself a whisky, Kat stood at the bar and smiled at her reflection. This was a look that Kat could get use to, she sipped her drink and took a look around the room. Currently, there was no one she recognised but she figured there could be someone to talk to.

The sounds and colors of the room all seemed to blur together for most individuals. Music was abundant, singing out above the conversations and laughter that roiled around the room. The sounds of glasses clinking, platters moving hands, silverware being handled; it was all background noise to the various conversations that were almost drown out by the shuffling of feet whether those feet be moving in dance or just meandering about the edges of the floor. For most, these things were not paid mind too; just backgrounds noise for such a grand gathering of people. But for Diavona, she could easily pinpoint each sound. She could pick apart each individual noise, center in on conversations that were meant to be private and in hushed tones. The way footfalls happened around her, and the directions they were headed - or the fumblings of those who were not so destined to be dancing among those already gathered. She had been trained to listen, for years, and despite the celebratory nature of this party that fact did not change nor dampen.

It also did not stop her from partaking. As it were now, she was being led about the floor by a stranger who had been bold enough to ask her for a dance. Surprisingly, he remained gentlemanly, only touching her where appropriate and he managed not to step on her feet as the pair of them moved about the floor to the beat of the ever present music. There was light conversation, Dia was by no means shy after all, and she discovered quickly that this man was previously separated from - go figure. Still, she listened to the little details, waiting to see if there was by chance something he would say or do that could be of use to her. Information was a powerful thing after all, but by the end of their dance Dia found the man quite ordinary with nothing satisfying about him. Pity, he was polite enough, though politeness could be a weakness she didn't need within her numbers anyhow.

So, Dia had thanked him for the dance, wished him well for the evening, and then turned away so that she could easily retreat from the dance floor. Now she needed a drink, and perhaps a snack too. Dancing was a grand time, but it could certainly take it's toll after a time. With ears still open and listening - always - she made her way to the nearest refreshments so that she could partake. A flute of something fizzy in one hand, and a small treat in the other, her gaze went out to the floor to observe.

Yes, she was supposed to be relaxing and having a good time at this gathering, but old habits really do die hard.

 

[Mig Gred]

Mig sighed a little as he walked in, wearing an armorweave trench coat as opposed to his usual armor, but he wasn't necessarily going unarmed. He had his Echani vibroblade, and the Sith dagger that he was "so kindly" left with in his gut by Cara Dorniarn . Yeah, no blaster and more civilized weapons, but in Mig's hands they were already more deadly than a blaster. He walked in, looking around as he looked everything over. Dancing, tours, or just a bar. He looked around, trying to see anything familiar.

He decided to just walk around and see if he recognized anyone, wasn't like he was blending in very well with his less then dressy look. Either way, maybe he'd see someone there, or meet someone new. Especially with his clan getting somewhat involved in CIS space.

The little Ropo sat at the head of the table in all his splendiferous glory as he watched others walk around, do that weird thing they called 'dancing' and in general enjoying the evening that clearly was there to celebrate the achievements and many accomplishments of the great Ropo Lord of Hoth and Supreme Comandante General of Cuteness, Lilicky!

After all, why shouldn't they be celebrating and basking in his glory? Lilicky had achieved a great many things, and clearly his more recent achievement was keeping the Confederacy together in the face of such opposition as those vile Agents of Chaos that clearly sought the destruction of all things Biscuits. It would take more than that though to deter the great Lilicky, for he, single handed, had protected Siobhan Kerrigan from a great and mighty dragon so many years ago during their tenure during the times of stability brought by the Omega Protectorate. He had taught Noah Corek everything he knew of battle, and even ensured that he stayed away from Ryloth least Valiens Nantaris had a chance with all the Twi'lek girls. Lilicky had even, on more than one occasion, come into possession of the Old Grumpy Goat's @Jorus Merill fine Hat - oh the memories that Lilicky had of being chased around while that hat covered his eyes, such fine times that made him miss the old days of the Omega Protectorate. There were times when he even missed HK-36 - Lilicky always wondered what happened to him after he established the Iron Lords - again, done so by the urging of the little Ropo himself.

Of course his greatest achievement came when he lead the Omega Protectorate into battle against the Bando Gora - and was ultimately the reason for their success in that war. Then things seemed to change after that... Actually, how old was Lilicky anyways? Surely a little Ropo such as he couldn't have been around for all of those great moments and now be sitting among the titans of the Confederacy... could he? Either way, best not to pull the curtain back too far, as tonight was all about the greatness of Lilicky!

- Okay, so in actuality it was to celebrate the Confederacy and all of their accomplishments, just let the Ropo have this moment -

And the moment he would have as he had gone from sitting proudly at the table, to laying face down on a plate of biscuits after once more tripping over his own tongue. Still, it was a wonderful place to be, laying face down in a place of biscuits. About the only more wonderful place was being held by Moira Skaldi or Siobhan Kerrigan ... oh what wonderful times those were. So full of warmth... and biscuits.

Ah! Yes! The Biscuits!

His thought once more returns to the plate that he was currently... wait... was he sleeping now!? Did the little Ropo seriously just fall asleep while eating Biscuits? And how rude, right while I was in the middle of proclaiming his greatness... Either way. Tonight was a night for jubilation, and the little Ropo that could, Lilicky, was going to eat as many biscuits as he could and be held by as many pretty ladies as possible, for tonight was a night for celebration.

Of course the Nightmother appreciated the move to Naboo. Yes, even this world was bathed in the glow of an ever-so-popular yellow star, but it was a thriving world. One filled with plant life, rich in water, and together created a most agreeable atmosphere for a Witch. Far better than Geonosis. What a necessary evil it had been to venture to that world to engage in formal matters. Aside from disliking politics was it any wonder a Nightsister had avoided such a place?​

​

Dathomir was not a green world, but it had been rich with life. Normally of darker and muted colors, which many others found to suggest death and decay. A natural stigma they came to believe from the worlds they grew up on. Vytal didn't hold it against them. Still, would it have killed the gods to bless the galaxy with more civilizations that basked beneath a red star? And spare her the astrophysical or astronomical matters why such were not more prevalent in the galaxy. It made her head hurt thinking about yet another nuanced topic about the foundations of existence. If there was one thing to learn by leaving one's home it was thus: you knew nothing. She came to learn of the Force and technology; the Nightsister found far more than that, and could scarcely begin to absorb it all.​

As the Witch in the Red Corset drifted through the entryway and into the Viceroyalty Chamber that would host the night's largest gathering, her green eyes scanned the room and the crowd. Certainly no expense had been withheld decorating the room to make it one to remember. A toast to Queen and Confederacy alike. One of those social affairs that the Nightmother found herself reluctant to miss despite the general trend for people to not approach her. Likely something to do with her being a Nightsister, or a Witch (a tautology).​

Yes, quite appropriate. However, Vytal found one thing quite disagreeable.​

​

[Mood Lighting] Her right hand stretched into the air overhead. With but a passing of her hand in a gentle arc, the ceiling over the heads of all in the chamber began to simply fade away. Soon the chandeliers were suspended in midair, and the dark hues of the evening sky served as a far more majestic canvas befitting the night's theme.​

​

T'was naught but a temporary spell, of course. Dazzling as it was, the Viceroyalty would have a fit about being spied upon during actual Session if their ceiling were transparent. The Nightmother could do without hearing them whine.​

​

Task completed, the red and black garbed woman with her shoulder plume of feathers glided toward the dance floor. As she drew near and passed through a thin ring about the floor, Vytal came to stop beside Diavona Vammor. "Have they completed the introductory period already?" she asked to make conversation. Seemed the first song or two was used for the crowd to warm up before proper pairings and dances followed.​

Nabbo.​

It was not the world she represented, but it was a world she would one day, assuredly, consider a second home. It was one that she would inevitably see herself on more often now, being the recently elected representative of the peoples of Rishi. It was Naboo where she would come to argue for her own people. Not just Devaronians, but for any and all that lived their lives on the world’s surface, or anywhere else with the Rishi System. But politics and semantics would come later. Now was a time of celebration and Kana was here to see if these balls on Naboo were all they were really chalked up to be.​

As she arrived at the Theed Royal Palace, Kana’s vision filled with the purple of Confederate streamers and gilding. Banners here. And marvelous spectacles of light there. The Naboo, and the Confederacy, had spared no expense for this moment. It was beautiful; that much could not be argued, but still, deep inside, Kana wondered if perhaps the funds spent here on the extravagances of this event might be better allocated elsewhere. To the welfare of the many, instead of the visual pleasure of the few that could manage the trip here amid their invitation. However, that was a matter to be brought before the rest of the Viceroyalty in a future session. The thing she actually overflowed with excitement to start attending and arguing for what it was her people desired and needed in order to live their lives to the fullest extent possible.​

As she stepped through the halls of the palace, her eyes would fall upon more and more Confederate decor. But beyond that, her eyes would manage to glimpse a small look into Naboo’s history. Of the predecessors to where the beautiful world was now. To the sprawling utopia it now conveyed to the galaxy. Lush and full of life. Vibrant and colorful. She made a mental note that she should come back to truly do a deep dive into the history that filled these halls at a later point. She would have now, but she was already late. She didn’t know where she was keeping anyone waiting - she prayed not - but she was already beyond the appointed time of arrival as annotated on the invitation she had received.​

As she stepped deeper and deeper into the palace, she would find herself face-to-face with one of the palace staff. A thin, frail looking man, with very sharp features, a clean shaven face, a very tanned skin. The whites of his eyes almost seemed to glow. “Can I assist you in any manner, ma’am,” he asked, his voice a raspy tenor. He had adorned himself in what Kana could only assume was the uniform given to the palace staff. So regal and elegant.​

She offered a warm smile and combed an idle hand through her long, black hair, clearing a few strays that had fallen down over her face. “I’m sorry, but I seem to have lost my way,” Kana began, almost seeming to blush as he cheeks took on a slight silver sheen to them, “I am supposed to be at the Gala now.” She pulled a small, thin holopad from a pocket and thumbed a few commands to bring up her invitation on it before presenting to the man as evidence to support her claims as if they were being challenged when they weren’t. ​

The attendant offered a welcoming smile and gave off a hardy, low chuckle. “If you’ll just continue down this hall, you’ll be walking right into it.” He gestured with an open hand signalling the direction he spoke of. “Is there anything else that I might assist you with, ma’am?”​

“Thank you,” Kana replied. She truly was grateful for the assistance he offered. And it was an outstanding reflection upon the people of this world that his words were so kind and well spoken. “I need no further assistance, sir. Thank you, again. I can not properly express to you my gratitude for your assistance.” She smiled again, this time extending a hand to offer him a hand shake.​

The man reached out with both hands and grasped her own extended hand, bowing slightly in the process. Returning to his upright position, he spoke again. “Well if there is nothing further that I might assist you with, allow me to welcome you to Naboo. I hope you enjoy your time here and relish in the festivities. Have a wonderful evening, ma’am.” He released her hand and clasped his own behind his back.​

An awkwardly long handshake to be certain, but Kana did not cling to the fleeting thought. Instead, she offered him another warm smile and returned his bow with a modified curtsy of her own. She was not well practiced in such maneuvers so in truth it was more of an awkward stumble in appearance. She only hoped it would not offend with its poor execution. “Thank you, again,” she said, her voice somewhat wobbly with embarrassment. ​

As she continued down the hall, her eyes would befall the ballroom filled with all the most beautiful people. Alien and human alike. Everyone here was seemingly dressed to the nines, making her feel as though she were a bit underdressed with her dress. It was a darker red in appearance than the hue of her own crimson skin, but it was not an overly expensive thing; she didn’t care to spoil herself with the finest gowns that money could offer. Instead, she would have rather been dressed casually, with little or no make up nor jewelry. Some simple trousers and a nice sweater were far more ideal for the Viceroy, than the gown she had chosen to wear today. Even her hair didn’t carry the same gusto as the others that filled the room as she saw it. It was just a simple bun which she had braided and rolled herself leading to more stray hairs than she cared to admit. But for her, she felt as though it all worked. And she certainly wasn’t trying to impress anybody. Although maybe she should have been, considering how vital first impressions can be.​

The Theed Gardens were beautiful this time of year. The flowers were all in bloom and the gentle breeze that brushed through the dazzling spectacle of ingenuity kissed one’s senses with the sweet aromas there within. It was calm and quiet. The immaculate area for divination and just taking the moment to meditate into one’s thought however precarious they might be. And that is exactly where the Viceroy of Druckenwell and CEO of Valnora Enterprise found himself now. Away enough from the hustle and bustle of the city, so that he might be able to collect his thoughts on his own future. And what he saw in his future. And for that of his company. Did Isla remain in it? Did Druckenwell? There was so much to contemplate. Even outside of the ever expanding company he continued to run and manage.

Truth was, Jorik was evolving. He was not so much the sheltered and distant type who just so happened to be continuing to honor the wishes of a dead man. Even so, his marriage arrangement to Isla still remained in place. Neither his family nor hers had motioned to dissolve the contract. And deep inside his cold heart, perhaps he was beginning to find a warmth. Perhaps Isla was helping him to open up. It was something he needed and even if he chose to never admit it, Isla had done much to aid in the beginning of this transformation.

But beyond that, his thoughts lingered on Valnor Enterprise. Of its upcoming expansion to yet another world and even his hopes to establish yet another arm on Christophsis, the very planet Isla looked after in her duties as a Viceroy.

Looking around, Kat spotted a Dathomiri Nightsister who she recognised as someone who often appeared at SJC events, she never really talked with the Nightsister except for one time, but she remembered her being friendly. Making her way over to the Nightsister, she noticed another Echani, well half-Echani, for Kat it was easy to see the human in her. Finishing her glass of whisky, handing over the empty glass to a server, she smiled politely to the two ladies as she stood by them. Looking around the room, she spotted Mig entering, it had been a long time since she last saw the Mandalorian as she had been so busy with her own life. She wondered how he was, but it seemed he might be busy and she figured that it would be polite for her introduce herself to the ladies that she had approached.

"Hi, I'm Kat Decoria. Enjoying the gala?" Kat asked feeling her nerves rise, being at such an upper class event, she felt a little more out of water than normal. Kat had been attending slum cantinas and gambling dens, so her interactions with people were less formal and kind words. Stroking her dress, she breathed slowly, letting her nerves calm down as she smiled warmly to the pair.

Crowns were often considered to be symbolically heavy.

What nobody had told Mila, in the short time she had been elected Queen, was that they were physically heavy too.

The circle of pure silver shifted uncomfortably on her head, pressing into parts of her skull she wasn’t even aware existed. A pair of slender hands faded into view through the shimmering mirror, reaching to correct the slight tilt the crown seemed to bear. “Thank you.” Mila’s honied tone seeped from her lips. The servant merely nodded and stepped out of view again, leaving Mila entirely alone with nobody but her reflection.

The young Queen shifted in her seat, ruffling the pearl pink dress that clung tightly to her curves. For longer than Mila had cared to admit, Naboo had been shadowed in shades of ebony and raven. A fitting memorial to her predecessor, but no more. Bright colours had been sorely missed around the palace, but it still somehow felt strange to see them being displayed so boldly and proudly. How long would the mourning have lasted for Mila? Would Naboo have cried as loud and as long? Would Karia have done the same for her if the shoes had been on the other feet?

Soft ebony curls shifted on her bare shoulders as she shook the unnecessary thoughts from her head.

This wasn’t a party of sorrow. This was a party of thanks. Thanks to the crown and to the people of Naboo for allowing the Confederacy to move their base of operations here. There would be no time for mourning, but Mila expected praise. Praise for her predecessor who had the good fortune to at least manage to do something worthy during her short reign, but no matter. It was a chance to prove Naboo worthy of the honour of being the Confederate Capital. It was a chance to show the Galaxy they were more than just that. It was time for Mila to prove her worth as Queen and Viceroy.

It was time.

“Your Highness, people are beginning to arrive.” Mila let a woosh of air leave her lips as she rose from her seat, abandoning the mirror to a lonelier life. The palace had been dressed to the nines in beautiful reds and yellows, decked to near breaking point with powerfully scented flowers, purple and gold banners hung from the walls with both the Royal Naboo crest and the Confederate crest emblazoned on them. Mila hadn’t seen it looking so garish since the coronation of her predecessor. It was something she would have to grow used too.

Sharp ticks echoed across the hallway as Mila strode toward the softly rumbling sound of conversation. “Where is Hisashi?” She asked of the young woman who struggled to keep up with her pace. “He’s getting ready, your majesty.” Her face fell, crumpled a little. How was it that Mila had needed the help of three people to get her into her dress, but she had still managed to beat him to it? “Go and fetch him, please, and tell him to hurry. He made me promise not to do anything until he scoped out the room, but people are waiting…”

The young girl nodded and dashed off to find the captain of the Queensguard. They were running late, but in that regard, Hisashi was incredibly lucky that Mila was a Queen and not just a viceroy. Queens were never late.

Everyone else was simply early.​

Well, the big day had arrived - the Gala. It's presentation came very close to Vemric's idea of perfection. Credits weren't spared in making this possible. It turned out quite impressive. And he was not easily impressed. He was making his way inside the beautifully decorated ballroom, his tall frame draped in regal moonlight blue robes and breeches. It felt almost strange to be dressed like this lately, but apparently it's not appropriate for a Councillor of Naboo to walk around in Naval uniform when he's on Council business. His nose wrinkled slightly at this thought. Not appropriate. He was serving when these people were not even born yet. But he adhered, nonetheless.

It was organised cacophony inside. It took him a second to settle his ears, suppressing the urge to squint in the process. Perhaps Mrs. Rhass was right - his nerves were fraying. He has been much more irritable of late. He craved solitude more and more. Not that he would ever admit it out loud. He'd rather cut his heart out with a spoon. Grabbing a drink from a passing droid, he scanned the great hall, assessing the the success of the evening. A number of notable people were present. Two that sent shivers even down his spine were the Nightmother Vytal Noctura and the Lady of Whispers Diavona Vammor exchanging some kind of conversation. That could only end in one ominous kind or another. He also noticed the Councillor of War Stardust Solus Skirae looking just as out of place as he felt. This was not a comfortable place for any officer. How proud his parents would be that he had somehow ended up in politics along with his Naval Career, despite his desire to avoid it. However, as the age old saying goes, you can take the officer out of the military but you can't take the military out of the officer. His posture said it all, as he strode over to the Emerald Dragon in all his Sephi elegance.
"Am I correct in assuming that you are carrying at least something resembling a weapon?" he asked her in his usual aloof tone, still scanning over the people within the ballroom while taking a sip of champagne. With this night in such near perfection, he might just get an aneurysm if something were to go wrong.

 

[Hard Luck Frank]

Historically there were two things I was bad at running as always took first place, but a close second was dancing. Keep that in mind as we work together to figure out what the feth I was thinking for showing up to another touchy feely dance-athon. I excused myself for going to the sith ball thing because the pink woman was ridiculously attractive. That and she paid me. Woman credits, it's a weakness.

I had on an expensive suit and my one and a half friends had a bet I would tear it with in five minutes. I was surprised it made it to the place in one piece. I exited the speeder cab carefully to keep the dumb dress shoes from bursting at the seams and slowly walked to the doors.

"Name?" Asked a weird droid as I stared at the door.

"Yes." I replied, "Of course I have a name."

"What is your name, sir?" The droid replied in the same tone.

"Frank." I replied in my best droid impression which to be fair was basically just my voice.

"Surname?"

"I just karking told you."

"Frank is your surname?"

"I am a sir and yeah that's my name."

The droid just stood there for a long moment with servos working over time before I noticed a small stream of smoke rising from it's neck.

"Thanks droid." I said as I patted it's shoulder and walked in. Droids were great when you knew how to handle them.

Sometimes. Life was like a dance. An individual could move their feet to their rhythm, but unless they had the right dance partner, it would be so easy to fall out of sync; to disrupt the swift and flawless movement of the dance. It would take some kind of open communication, whether it be verbal or physical cues to get them back in sync, but if one dance partner froze another out and didn’t allow them to openly communicate, then their dance would be over. People were always dancing with different partners that they had different types of relationships with and it was through the ebb and flow of dance, that some of these people would determine how they would define their relationship between each other.

There was the Tango with their abrupt movements, movements that placed an emphasis on the dramatic pauses and the romance. It was hot and spicy, like a new romance that blossomed before everyone’s eyes as they watched the petals unfurl with the new scent of attraction. It was a very nice reflection of the beginning of courtship between two lovers who were running high on chemicals such as testosterone, estrogen, dopamine and norepinephrine; while also experiencing the drop in serotonin. It was fascinating to watch the dance with the many different ways that the man would woo the woman. Flowers, a show of bravery and maybe perhaps a little bit of charm with the sway of the hips.

The Waltz was a different dance altogether. Slower and usually danced with life-long partners that enjoyed the slower burn of oxytocin and vasopressin. Their dance steps were less flashy and abrupt than that of the tango, because they didn’t need to impress the person that they were dancing with. They were slower, so then one could enjoy the subtle nuances of the way that the body flowed between the two. Almost like a gentle river that flowed with the gentle waves of time and embraced the arms of its partner, one that flowed with them in their ageless and timeless dance.

Indeed, every different dance performed, had their own stories to tell in completely different ways and the vampiress had seen many in her time. Her last dance had been one of revenge, one that she did not expect to come out of alive and yet, she had. Nowadays though, while instead of participating in dances, she herself simply observed, for she lacked a partner. Perhaps her time for dancing was over and now was simply the time to embrace the subtle nuances of speech and the written word. Yet, the woman couldn’t help but find herself watching, with chocolate brown eyes from the edges of the fray, those that danced before her with such promise in every step that they moved with.

Was Raven at all bitter? Not in the slightest, for their time was limited on this plain, including hers. Now was not the time to feel such useless emotions anymore, for her time of revenge had come and gone. All that was left for her, was the clock as the sand of time slowly filed through the corridor into the waiting clutches of Death himself. Some hour glasses moved slower than others, Raven’s hour glass was one that moved ever so slowly. So, she had to fill her time somehow; now that her dance of revenge was finished. Yet for some reason, she watched with an odd fascination as she wondered about the dance of the newly crowned queen. Would she live longer than her predecessor? Or would her dance with the journey of life end so abruptly? Who could tell, life was so… Unpredictable.​

These parties felt so weird to the mandalorian, sure shes been apart of plenty in her life but lately with how chaotic things having a party hadnt been upon her mind. She did have to remind herself this was her birth planet and that she served its queen now so...maaaaaaaybe a little bit of party wasn't to bad for the old veteran. Eyes scanned the room as she grabbed some champagne from a passing servant and swirled it around with the force before she took a sip and sighed observing the crowd, pointing out all possible exits for herself, vantage points, and hold points. It was something she couldn't help herself from doing honestly, old habits died hard as they say.

Out of the corner of her eye she spotted someone approaching her, her body turned to face the sephi as she looked him over from head to toe, a warrior she may be but it didn't mean she didn't appreciate the finer things in life at all, she did not however he carried himself in a sort of a way a officer in the navy would

The Guardian loathed Galas.

When it came to the realm of high society, the man called Hisashi did his best to steer clear. In times past, his interactions would exist solely for the collection of payment or the acquisition of targets. He had no interest in gilding himself in the finest silks. He had no desire to indulge in the opulent tastes of foreign wines or foreign women. The mundane constants of a battle-filled life were all the comforts that he needed. Yet, despite his best efforts to keep the pomp and circumstance at arms length, Hisashi always ended up in the deep end. It was a cruel joke on a cosmic scale - at least in his eyes.

Most recently, this joke amounted to the comforts of his usual attire being stripped away.

The timid hands which had been assigned to aide him in dressing for the current festivities had been subject to his wrath for several minutes. When it came to matters of "noble grooming", the Guardian had resigned himself to the fate of waking up each day and being tormented by servants until he was "presentable." However, in these daily circumstances, he at least had a say in the nature of his attire. He could retain some of his old comforts whilst acting as the monarch's Shield and Sword. Yet, tonight, with all the Southern Systems watching? Sovereignty had been hurled out the window at light speed. The decisions were made for him. And he was having none of that.

Thus, the power struggle had went on for quite some time. Aggressive negotiations. Thrown elbows. And literal forcing of pants onto his person occurred. The Guardian bore no ill will to the servants who were tasked with this gruesome duty. But, in that moment, he was a literal demon to be tamed.

It was not until a series of rapid knocks sounded upon the door of his chambers that the struggle paused. In stepped one of the Queen's own attendants, eyes widening as the scene was revealed. The overturned furniture, the tattered remains of the first tunic, the bloody nose of one of the servants...all worked to coax a gasp. She quickly composed herself before motioning behind her. "Her Majesty is ready and requests your presence." Though the Guardian was the furthest thing from a willing participant in the night's events, the words of the servant returned him to reality. He was not being subjected to the "delights" of high society for no reason.

He had to keep Saraya Arenais alive.

"Just a minute." he said between clenched teeth.

The servant girl excused herself promptly, leaving Hisashi alone with his attendants. A heavy exhale passed by flared nostrils - and with that the man resigned himself to his fate. In short order, the ensemble was assembled. One which restricted his mobility more than he was comfortable, but it was suitable for blending in with the elite. "Sorry about that." he said, completing the attire with the concealment of his lightsaber upon his person. A mental note was made to at least make sure the men got a few extra credits in their pay for the struggle. Then, Hisashi stepped out of his chambers. Reaching, his fingertips found the comm that connected him to the rest of the Guard.

He typically preferred casing the locale himself. But, having had a chance to train the good men and women personally, they were growing into his eyes and ears. At the very least, they could fulfill this duty whilst he was at the Queen's side. "All hands, report."

"Mobius Two on Standby."
"Mobius Three through Seven on Standby.
"Mobius Eight on Standby."

"All clear?" came his inquiry, coupled with the echo of his polished shoes upon the shining tiles. The Guard sounded off their locales and the all clear. The Gala was ready for the monarch to make her entrance. Naboo was ready for its Queen. At least now there wasn't any of that gods-awful funeral wear tonight. Upon arriving at her Quarters, Hisashi admitted himself within. Were the servants not used to his raising a middle finger to what was acceptable, they might have made a fuss. But at this point, they simply nodded at his arrival. Then his eyes settled upon the Queen.

His charge. His friend. His designated pain in the ass. His...Well, she certainly knew how to wear a dress. "It's going to cost extra to bat away any single Viceroys looking for a wife." he said, chuckling slightly. "I accept all major credit chits, as well as direct transfer. In a pinch, an IOU can do." An exaggerated bow was rendered, followed by the offering of his arm.

The one great, amazing, awesome thing about fancy fethers and their parties. If they didn't know you, they didn't talk to you. And they were alway too busy playing with eachother to notice just one guy slipping through to wherever the food was. And that's all I really wanted to do. That was one thing about my mutation. I was extremely dense and tough, like tank a blaster bolt to the face tough, but...I had to eat a lot. True I only really needed to eat a lot when I needed to heal but that's not a real reason to take a chance. I might be injured and not know it.

So, I did the most logical thing you can do when wanting some food. I asked a guy carrying drinks where to find a guy carrying sandwiches.

"Hey! Hey guy." I said as I forced a smile onto my face, "This place have any sandwiches?"

"This is a formal affair, Sir." The drink guy said with evident suspicion, evident means like you have evidence or something. I looked it up but I forgot.

"What does someone having an affair have to do with me getting a sandwhich?" I asked mostly to annoy this sorry excuse for a phallic symbol, "Are you propositioning me for a sandwhich? Wow, and I thought this was a classy place."

"What?" He said as he stared at me with a look that said he didn't know if he was insulted, confused, or sorry for me.

"What?" I echoed as if I didn't know exactly what he meant.

"I think I should get the guards. You don't belong here." The mouthy waiter declared. Apparently he had settled on being insulted.

"And I think you should probably point me to where you're hiding the food before I tell your boss you were fat shaming a guest." I replied as I mentally settled in to drive the b.s. train all the way to sandwhich station. "Are you saying that I, a pretty dumb if effective hired gun could just break palace security and outsmart all these rich fethers just for a bite to eat? Why don't you march right up to the queen and tell her she's too dumb to invite people you approve of? Is that what you want?"

"What?!" He replied, "I didn't say that!"

"That's what what you said means to people what know what one means when they say what you said." I replied with as serious a face as I could muster after the deep layer of crap that just passed my lips. I was a regular wordsmith.

"The kitchen is that way." The drink guy said, "Please never talk to me again."

"Thanks, drink guy." I said and turned with what I felt was a bounce in my step. It probably looked like I was confused.

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrip.

I looked down. Sure enough, my turn had split the seams on my shoe and the sole was pointed one way and the top half and my foot was pointed another. I checked my chrono.

"Four minutes fifty eight seconds...kark me." I said. I had lost another bet.
