GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Le Garde Des Rois
  • Affiliation: Illyrian Monarchy
  • Classification: Elite Guard
  • Description: Often called the "Knights of the Blood" or "Guardians of the Crown" the Illyrian Royal Guard are comprised of combat-oriented Force Users who serve the Illyrian Royal Family. They are outfitted with advanced power armor that provides them with an edge in combat, while also preserving their own lives. They utilize advanced Vibroswords that can go toe to toe with a lightsaber and are loyal to a fault. They are stoic warriors who excel at close-quarters combat and are trained in commando-style maneuvers.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Small
  • Unit Availability: Rare
  • Unit Experience: Elite
  • Equipment:
  • Combat Function: The Guard are trained to act proficiently in small numbers. They are often tasked out in teams of two or four, seldom being utilized in larger numbers except in the Illyrian Royal Palace in Azurine city. Their main function is to serve as a life preserving force for the Illyrian Royal Family. To ensure this their armor is capable of producing energy shields on nearby targets.
Strengths:
  • Force Users: The Illyrian Guard are Knight-Level Force users. They are extremely proficient in Force Body, Telekinesis, & Force Shield. They do not perform the role of sorcerers, instead narrowing their force use to more combat-oriented force abilities.
  • Close-quarters Masters: Even greater than their ability with the Force is their training in close-quarters combat. The Illyrian Guard are some of the most capable swordsmen on the planet, paired with a very sophisticated knowledge of Echani martial arts they are very capable in engaging units in close-combat.
  • Armor: The Garde Des Rois utilize a high-function armor system to ensure their superiority in combat. This armor comes with a flight system, reinforced defenses, and a number of electronic systems to help claim victory.
  • Mental Fortitude: Years of mental reinforcement have made these men and women nearly impervious to mental-based attacks. They are adept at shielding their minds from assault and keeping their thoughts to themselves.
  • Loyalty: There is no misunderstanding the heart of a Royal Guardsmen. To serve is to serve until death. While the guardsmen are allowed some essence of a personal life, one of the factors of their service is steadfast, unquestionable loyalty. They are pushed through a number of trials until it is ensured they see the royal families safety as paramount to all other things, including their own life.
Weaknesses:
  • Ranged Warriors: These men do not have a conventional ranged weapon. This makes them susceptible to long-ranged enemy units, especially marksmen.
  • Stubborn Resolve: Even under command of their ward, they will not shift the goal of their mission. It is the duty of the Royal Guard to protect the Royal family even if it was at the cost of every Illyrian on their home planet. The deaths of millions mean nothing when paired with the Monarchy.
  • Distrusting: Their training programs them to be suspicious of all, even members of the Illyrian Government and military. They will not hide their suspicions nor will they put on a face of trust. They are particularly difficult to work alongside, especially for soldiers who are not of Illyrian blood.
  • Force Powers: While they do not focus their training on their force powers, force negating properties can hinder them. Void Stones, Ysalamiri, and Force Dead enemies can pose a larger threat to the guard.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

When Illyria's first crowned prince was born the Illyrian Royal Guard was formed. They swore their vows of fealty to the Monarchy, swearing ultimate loyalty to the Crown and the blood that it embodied. The Guard's training was vaguely mirrored off that of the Imperial Guard employed by the former Galactic Empire. However, the Illyrian Guard were selected to be more proficient in the Force and display the truth of Illyrian pride and fire.

The first iteration of the Illyrian Guard were men and women, powerful in the Force who were selected by Adron Malvern to serve as the guardians of his family, however following their founding the requirements and training of their order was solidified. Unlike many worlds, they were not created as a Force Order, instead they were formed as a Military Unit. The Royal Guard are selected as young children, sent to the capitol city of Azurine to begin their training. The first few years includes martial and mental conditioning where they harden the body and mind of the candidate. Any mental or physical defects that could cause problems in adulthood immediately rule the candidate out.

As the candidate moves into his teens, the trials begin where you must prove yourself proficient in a number of fields. First Aid, Martial arts, Swordsmanship, The Force, and even a number of linguistic fields.

At the age of 18 a Guard Candidate becomes eligible to take the final trials. These trails include a one-month survival course in the Illyrian jungles, a complex written exam, a formal interview with the Monarchies representative, and almost three months worth of examinations. Upon graduation to the Illyrian Guard they are sword into service by the King or Queen and given their first Guardian Task.

Need a proper source link for this image. All this does is show the image itself, with no indication about where it is from or who the artist is. An example would be a link to a Deviantart or Artstation page where the image can be found.

Here's an article that might help you with sourcing the pic.

  • Image Credit: [ Provide credit to the original artist of the images in your submission. Link to the web page where it can be found and state the name of the original artist if possible. Each image used must be credited. Use TinyEye, Google Image Search, or the Image Credit FAQ to help.]
