TECHNICAL INFORMATION
- Classification: Second Degree Droid.
- Weight: Average.
- Height: Average.
- Dimensions: 2.5 x 1 x 1 (length x width x height) meters.
- Movement:
- Armaments: 1x HJB-03P Heavy Jamming Beam Projector.
- Misc. Equipment:
- Power:
- Communications Suite: When connected to compatible systems, the communication suite is an auto-negotiating, frequency hopping system with a self-modulating encryption key, making it extremely resistant to jamming and interception. This suite can be used to remote operate the probe.
- Encryption Suite
- Communications Equipment/Protocols:
- Other Components:
- Encryption Suite
- Electronic Suite:
- 'Ga'yusr' Electronic Countermeasure Suite
- Manda Tactical Battlenet Module: Both to ensure that friendly ships in the area of the jamming with a Manda module aren't affected by it, as well as to control the probe via a secondary droid brain interpreting the 'suggestions' and turning them into control signals.
- Sensors:
- Scanner (active)
- Power:
- Resistances:
- Energy: High.
- Kinetic: High.
- Lightsabers: High.
- Other:
- EMP/Ion: High.
- Electricity: High.
- Disruptor: Very Low.
- Tensor: Very Low.
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Self-destruct: The probes can be set to self-destruct, which when done in close proximity to enemy craft is capable of causing significant damage to starfighter sized targets.
STRENGTHS
- Distributed EWAR: The probe's jamming beam and electronic warfare suite allow commanders to increase the amount of electronic warfare being directed at the enemy without placing all their eggs in one easier to target basket. This has the added benefit of making it more difficult for enemies to ascertain the pattern of interference and counter it.
- Secure, Jam Resistant Comms: The probe's comms suite allows for a secure, jam resistant connection to it at almost all times. This also allows it to be remote operated virtually without any interruptions or disruptions.
- Mobile Sensor Platform: When connected to the same battlenet as platforms equipped with the Manda tactical battlenet, it can act as mobile sensor platform, extending the sensor reach of all ships in the battlenet.
WEAKNESSES
- Technically Unarmed: A jamming beam, while technically a weapon, cannot help the probe fight back against other starfighter threats, making it essentially defenseless.
- EMP/Ion: EMP and Ion weapons, provided they can cause enough damage to bypass the probe's defenses, are likely to cause irreparable damage.
DESCRIPTION
The Nehaa'taycir Electronic Warfare probe is a modified version of the company's D/EWP-01 'Jahaatir' Decoy/Electronic Warfare Probe, only without the former's decoy systems and with some armor plating removed to make room for a fighter-grade heavy jamming beam projector. The parts commonality makes logistics considerably easier for fleets deployed further from the company's main albeit still mobile fleet-based manufacturing hub and also makes repairs and refits in a field a considerably easier task.
The probe's jamming beam and electronic warfare suite allow commanders to increase the amount of electronic warfare being directed at the enemy without placing all their eggs in one easier to target basket. This has the added benefit of making it more difficult for enemies to ascertain the pattern of interference and counter it. The jamming beam, however is the only 'weapon' carried by the probe, and while it is technically a weapon, it cannot help the probe defend itself against starfighter threats.
Like the model it is based on, the Nehaa'taycir features a secure, jam resistant comms system in the form of a auto-negotiating, frequency hopping system with a self-modulating encryption key. This also allows it to be remote operated virtually without any interruptions or disruptions. Additionally, because it also has an included Manda battlenet module, the probe can act as a mobile sensor platform for all ships connected to the battlenet.
Complicated electronics, unfortunately, tend to be vulnerable to EMP and Ion weapons. Though the probe is well protected against such damage, EMP or Ion damage that overwhelms or takes advantage of damaged or compromised plating or other defensive systems is likely to completely and irrevocably fry the probe's systems.
