OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a vehicle/emplacement grade Class-D heavy disruptor cannon for Breshig War Forge Consolidated and Strill Securities.
  • Canon Link: N/A.
  • Permissions: N/A.
  • Primary Source: Class-D Disintegration.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Heavy Class-D Disruptor Cannon.
  • Size: Very Large.
  • Weight: Extremely Heavy.
  • Ammunition Type: Power input, gas supply.
  • Ammunition Capacity: Large.
  • Effective Range: Battlefield.
  • Rate of Fire: High.
  • Stopping Power: Extreme.
  • Recoil: Average.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Cooling Systems: In order to prevent the large amounts of heat generated by the weapon from melting it, the HCDC-01 has an integrated cooling system that will shut the weapon down in the event of it overheating in order to perform a coolant flush and to allow the weapon to cool down. Most mounting platforms can carry enough coolant for five coolant flushes.
STRENGTHS
  • Class-D Disruptor: Class-D disruptors can cause the atomic deletion of their target, potentially breaking down the chemical bonds. Each shot is capable of doing immense amounts of damage on target, and has little regard for armor.
  • Very Long Range: The cannon's powerful bolts are capable of traveling vast distances before they lose coherency.
  • High Velocity: Each bolt can travel the distance between weapon and target at a remarkable speed.
  • Accurate: The HDCD-01 is an accurate weapon out to its last range increment, making it suited for attacking subcomponents and hardpoints on enemy vehicles, or engaging priority targets that are part of enemy fortifications.
  • Resilient Frame: The weapon's armored frame allows it to take quite a beating. With a combat de-ionizer and reinforced duraplast reinforcements, the weapon is resistant to EMP/Ion damage to an extent.
WEAKNESSES
  • Illegal: Disruptors are illegal on many worlds, but Class-D disruptors take that to a whole new level. It is unlikely that a Class-D disruptor would be viewed as a sign of someone not looking to start trouble even in space where it is legal. Which could lead to more than a few problems.
  • Immoral: The weapon is extremely immoral, given what it does to a target. Using this weapon will likely garner the wrong sort of attention. Perhaps even sign one's own death warrant.
  • Overheating: When confronted with extreme periods of sustained firing, the weapon's safety mechanisms will kick in and lock down the weapon to prevent permanent damage. Naturally, this is also dependent on atmospheric conditions.
  • EMP/Ion: When faced with a powerful enough EMP/Ion surge, it is possible that the weapon's defenses against aforementioned damage will be overwhelmed and the weapon's more sensitive components will be fried, preventing it from firing.
  • Cooling System Malfunction: Should the cooling system malfunction or become damaged, the weapon will shut down to prevent a critical operating failure.
  • Extremely High Power Requirements: The weapon requires immense amounts of power to fire, and extreme power fluctuations in the platform's power system will render the weapon unable to fire.
DESCRIPTION
A scaled down version of the SCDC-01, the HCDC-01 was designed with the specific intention of giving the CHT-01 Ja'hailir-class Command Heavy Tank, ST-01 Naast-class Super-heavy Tank and ST-01C Naast-class Command-variant Super-heavy Tank the means with which to engage heavily armored tanks, walkers and fortified structures as well as the various monstrosities used by certain groups in the galaxy without necessarily forcing it into the role of a tank destroyer with rate of fire or mounting cause traverse and elevation limitations. Like with the SCDC-01, it was developed as a direct response to the Mandalorian civil war. Unlike the SCDC-01, at the time of the HCDC-01's introduction only a few months later, Class-D disruptors were already in widespread adoption by Strill Securities.
Class-D disruptors can cause the atomic deletion of their target, potentially breaking down the chemical bonds of whatever they hit. As such the weapon is capable of doing immense amounts of damage on target, and because of its nature as an extremely potent disruptor weapon, it has an extremely high chance to penetrate armor or natural carapace protecting its target. Because of the immense power behind each shot, each bolt/pulse is able to retain its coherency over vast distances while maintaining an extremely high velocity.
Given that the majority of the weapon's barrel is likely to be exposed given the manner in which it was intended to be mounted, appropriate measures were taken to ensure that it was adequately protected. The weapon's armored frame allows it to take quite a beating. With a combat de-ionizer and reinforced duraplast reinforcements, the weapon is resistant to EMP/Ion damage to an extent. That said, it is still exposed, and is thus exposed to more potential damage. This can cause a number of problems, as EMP/Ion damage could potentially overwhelm the weapon's defenses, frying the focusing and acceleration coils. Additionally, the weapon's barrel cooling system could be significantly damaged, at which point the weapon will shut down to prevent a critical operating failure.
The weapon does have some notable significant considerations to be taken into account because of its design. Firstly, the weapon requires immense amounts of power to fire, and extreme power fluctuations in the platform's power system will render the weapon unable to fire. Additionally, there are legal/moral considerations to be taken into account when operating with friendly forces whose commanders have a less than stellar opinion of disruptors or in space where the weapons are illegal. Disruptors are illegal on many worlds, but Class-D disruptors take that to a whole new level. It is unlikely that a Class-D disruptor would be viewed as a sign of someone not looking to start trouble even in space where it is legal. Which could lead to more than a few problems. The weapon is extremely immoral, given what it does to a target. Using this weapon will likely garner the wrong sort of attention. Perhaps even sign one's own death warrant.
Strill Securities sanction of the use of Class-D disruptors and the use of Class-D disruptors by many of the company's clients indicates that despite this, the illegality and immorality of the weapon does not preclude its use, no doubt because of its effectiveness. That said, it is unlikely that belief is carried by any more than a small minority of the galactic population.
