- Besaid-class medium freighters are heavily armored and shielded, making use of the three-layered Golem armored hull plating and four-layered Kirin shielding system, giving it long durability against attacks from pirates and other attackers. Besaid-class freighters are also equipped with several countermeasure systems for further protection, along with two deployable point defense emplacements for further protection against missiles, torpedoes, and fighter craft.
- Making use of the Garuda Ion Drives, Besaid-class medium freighters have very impressive speeds and improved maneuverability, giving them an advantage when trying to evade pirates and other attackers. It also allows a pilot or the recommended small crew to use any available materials for use as fuel, avoiding the possibility of running low while traveling the galaxy.
- Besaid-class medium freighters boast an improved cargo capacity of 80,000 metric tons or having the capacity to carry twenty passengers if the ship is converted into a transport. In addition, as an improvement over its predecessor, Besaid-class freighters have the capacity to carry a starfighter 10 meters or smaller in a rear docking module similar to the old VCX-100 freighter.
- While Valefor laser cannons have impressive firepower, the Besaid-class is only equipped with two cockpit mounted laser cannons and two point defense emplacements. The low armaments mean the ship has to rely more on its speed and defensive armor and shielding to protect itself if attacked by pirates or other enemies.
- If the molecular furnaces within the Garuda Ion Drives are damaged or sabotaged, they will consume the engine and leave the Bevelle-class light freighter dead in space and heavily damaged.
- Due to the shield emitters of the Kirin being scattered across the hull, if parts of the hull become damaged, gaps can form in the overlapping shield layers of the freighter.
Developed as part of Aurora Industries' Highwind Program to be both a sister ship to the new Bevelle-class light freighter and an improvement over the last generation T60 freighter, the Besaid-class medium freighter touches upon several important points for the Belgaroth shipyards of the company. The new freighter is nearly twice the length of the T60 and boasts an increased cargo capacity over the last generation freighter, while including many of the improvements and technologies from the Aeon Program. Like the Bevelle-class, the Besaid-class is equipped with the Kirin Shielding System and the Golem-type Advanced Plating to give the freighter several layers of defensive shields and armor. The ship is also equipped with two Garuda Ion Drives to give it enhanced speeds and maneuverability.
As for armaments, the Besaid-class has two Valefor Laser Cannons mounted on the underside of the cockpit and two deployable Leviathan point defense turrets for the ability to respond to enemy projectiles and fighter craft. In addition, the Besaid-class has the advantage of being designed to hold a single starfighter that is 10 meters or smaller in a rear docking module that allows the crew to field a fighter for further protection from pirates and other marauders. All of these systems are powered by the freighter-scaled Starscourge Reactor along with Solarium Glasteel that can act as a source of emergency power for life support or other systems.
