OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Military Base Name: Bōei Kyōdan: Atrisian Garrison-Community (AGC) - [Base Name/Clan Designation]
  • Classification: Integrated Military & Civilian Structure
  • Location: Atrisia
  • Affiliation: Atrisian Commonwealth
  • Population: Heavy. Designed to support a full military garrison alongside the civilian families, artisans, and staff of the ruling Clan or House.
  • Demographics: Predominantly Atrisian, with a strict hierarchy of military personnel, noble families, and their retainers.
  • Accessibility: Outwardly open and integrated into the host city's culture. Public areas are accessible, but the installation's true military nature is concealed. Internal security is absolute, with the entire community capable of being sealed behind sectional energy shields and bulkheads in under a minute.
  • Description: Nestled within the colossal fortifications of an Imperial City, an Atrisian Garrison-Community is a masterpiece of strategic deception. To the casual observer, it is merely another beautiful, walled district a preserve of ancient Atrisian tradition. The air is scented with jade wood and blooming cherry trees, and tranquil lakes reflect the graceful, curved roofs. Beneath this serene veneer, however, lies one of the Commonwealth's most resilient military installations. The entire community is a single, integrated defense system. The beautiful Kazue stone walls are reinforced with durasteel lattices and house sensor arrays. The elegant jade wood paneling conceals blast shutters and comms relays. This "bubble" within the greater city wall is a self-contained ecosystem, capable of sustaining its population indefinitely during a siege, powered by the ambient energy harvested by its very structures. Below the idyllic surface, a subterranean world of smart-tunnels, armories, command centers, and the high-speed Gentoku train network ensures rapid deployment and logistical dominance, connecting the AGC to every other key point on Atrisia.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The Surface: The Wisteria District (Public Face)
  • Clan Compound & Gardens: The heart of the AGC, housing the ruling Lord or Lady. Its gardens are places of meditation, political maneuvering, and secret strategic meetings. The compound is always the most heavily fortified point on the surface.
  • Artisan & Market Quarter: Where the Garrison-Community's goods are produced and traded. Smiths might create beautiful tea sets by day and calibrate weapon components by night. The market is a hub of information and logistics.
  • The Serpentine Canal & Leisure Paths: The seemingly meandering waterways and paths are designed to control and slow the movement of any potential invading force, creating fatal funnels for the defenders. Bridges are chokepoints that can be deactivated or electrified.
The Subsurface: The Dragon's Veins (Military Heart)
  • The Gentoku Nexus Station: The true transportation hub of the AGC. A stark, militarily efficient station of polished metal and concrete, buzzing with troops, vehicles, and supplies moving via the planet-wide mag-lev network.
  • Strategic Command & Control (The "Dojo"): The primary military command center, buried deep beneath the Clan Compound. It is a hub of quiet efficiency, with holographic displays mapping the planet's defense status. Access is granted only to the highest-cleared personnel.
  • The Armory & Logistics Modules: Automated, modular bunkers that store everything from small arms to vehicle parts and emergency rations. They are connected directly to the Gentoku lines for rapid resupply.
  • Barracks & Training Grounds: While officers may have surface quarters, the core garrison lives in spartan but comfortable subterranean facilities adjacent to holographic training simulators and live-fire ranges.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
For centuries, the towns and villages nestled within Atrisia's imperial cities were precisely what they appeared to be: centers of culture, commerce, and civilian life. They were overseen by their ruling clans and enjoyed the general peace of the Commonwealth, protected by the planet's fleet and the mere idea of the city walls as a historical artifact. This age of relative tranquility shattered approximately three decades ago. Driven by a galaxy-wide escalation of threats perhaps a specific invasion scare, a devastating raid, or the rise of a formidable new enemy the Atrisian Commonwealth enacted the Great Fortification Edicts. This was a planet-wide, top-priority initiative to transform Atrisia from a culturally rich world into an impregnable fortress.

The existing city walls, once symbolic and rudimentary, were expanded, reinforced, and technologically retrofitted into the massive defensive structures they are today. The existing communities adjacent to these walls were not demolished; instead, they were subsumed.
  • Rapid Militarization: The government, in close collaboration with the ruling clans, initiated a breathtakingly fast overhaul. What were once normal towns were systematically converted into the standardized Atrisian Garrison-Communities (AGCs). This was a monumental effort of planetary engineering, combining ancient architectural principles with cutting-edge military technology.
  • The Redundancy Doctrine: The core strategic principle was redundancy and compartmentalization. By turning each section of the city wall into a self-contained AGC, the Commonwealth ensured that even if one section was breached, the others could hold firm, isolating the threat. No single point of failure could compromise an entire city.
  • A Social Shift: This transformation fundamentally altered the social contract. The civilian populations, once simply subjects, became integral parts of the planetary defense grid. Their homes became their fortresses, and their daily lives became intertwined with military readiness. While some may have resisted, the Edicts were framed as a patriotic and necessary duty for the survival of Atrisian culture itself.
The AGCs are now the bedrock of Atrisian planetary defense. The generation that grew up during this transformation has known no other reality. The "facade" of tradition is not just for deception; it is a conscious effort to preserve the soul of Atrisia against the grim necessities of modern warfare. The sight of an armored soldier meditating by a koi pond, mere meters from a hidden turbo-laser battery, is the perfect embodiment of modern Atrisia: a serene culture with a hardened core, forever prepared for the siege that may one day come.
