GENERAL INFORMATION
- Unit Name: Apex Tactical Response Division (A-TRD)
Alias: Apex Black, Black Team - Affiliation: Apex Holdings | Apex Industrial | Balen Var Black
- Classification: Tactical/Assault | Counter Terror | Anti Forcer Enforcement
- Description:
The Apex Tactical Response Division represents the pinnacle of Apex Industrial's private security capabilities, a precision strike team trained to restore order with minimal collateral damage and maximum efficiency. Members wear sleek, matte graphite A-TPA Enforcer Armor, designed for mobility and protection, featuring advanced integrated HUDs, jump assistance, magnetic boots, and limited sensor resistance. Their helmets are featureless, with a narrow red or blue visor line that gives them an almost droid-like anonymity.
Each unit operates in coordinated six-man squads: Commander, Breacher, Marksman, Tech Specialist, Heavy, and Medic, trained in urban and zero-G operations. They are Apex's answer to corporate espionage, cyberterrorists like Darkwire or Rogue Protocol, force user threats, and industrial sabotage, embodying the cold professionalism of their employer.

Combat Function
The A-TRD functions as Apex's high-threat tactical strike and containment force. They specialize in hostage rescue, the capture of high-value targets, counter-sabotage, and neutralizing force-sensitive adversaries through coordinated tactics, jet-assisted mobility, ionized or sonic weaponry, and overlapping fire zones. Often operating in coordination with Apex's droid assets, they serve as the enforcement arm of corporate will, the final word when negotiation fails.
Their doctrine emphasises control and precision over brute force. Missions are executed in silence, with exact timing, Scylla AI coordination, and technological superiority the key to their effectiveness.
Strengths:
- Anti-Force Preparedness: Equipped with ion weaponry, sonic handguns, suitable melee weapons, good mobility, and localised disruption tech, allowing them to counter force user advantages effectively.
- Professional Coordination: Veteran operators with sophisticated integrated HUD-linked comms and drone support, functioning as a single unit under Apex's command network.
Weaknesses:
- Limited Numbers: Highly trained and expensive to maintain; each loss is significant and difficult to replace. Even each member of its individual team has a key role in their coordinated effectiveness.
- EMP Vulnerability: Despite attempts at insulation, electromagnetic or ion disruption can disable their tech-dependent systems and communications, stripping them of many of their advantages.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Formed after several corporate sabotage attempts against Apex facilities by Rogue Protocol, and other Denon insurgents, overcame the regular ASF on guard. The Tactical Response Division was commissioned directly by Balen Var Black to ensure that Apex Holdings would never again be vulnerable to external coercion or Force-wielding operatives without adequate response. Recruited from former special forces, intelligence agents, and elite bounty hunters, members undergo extensive psychological and cybernetic conditioning to eliminate hesitation and enforce efficiency. Technological integration needs to be at an exceptional standard for full recruitment.
Initially tested on Denon during Darkwire's final days, the unit's silent precision quickly became legend among Apex's competitors, entire rival research databanks in corporations disappearing overnight, "acquired" by Apex Industrial before the neon sunrise. After the nth collapse of the Hutt Cartel at the Black Sun's hands, when the Hutt Cartel's infighting spilled into corporate space, the A-TRD were among the first to strike back, reclaiming stolen assets and detaining syndicate operatives alive for 'contractual negotiations.' The usual benign Triad wars on the Rim also drew notice when the Exchange hit one of Apex's offices on P1-S1-A, a world nobody should even know about. So shaken was the board, they immediately commissioned an increase in the number of A-TRD's located around key facilities and rapid response forces in proximity to sensitive sites. As several Denon districts have been cleaned up by the High Republic, it's left a lot of local mercenaries and bounty hunters looking for a paycheck, Apex welcomed the best with open arms.
It is well known that force users present a great hazard to corporate security. More than one man has remarked on the futility of firing a blaster at a lightsaber designed to send it right back at him, and few corpsec members are willing to go toe-to-toe with a Sith or Jedi for a paycheck. Knowing this, these tactical teams embrace coordinated fire tactics from overlapping zones, weaponry and armor that will help neutralise the lightsaber's advantage, good vertical mobility, predictive AI targeting, and a veteran's common sense when fighting these dangerous opponents. Now deployed wherever Apex influence extends, Apex Black serves as the embodiment of Mr. Black's own philosophy: Coordination is power multiplied.
