STRENGTHS
  • Durable and Reliable. It can take a single lightsaber hit or a blaster shot. The weapon's entire design is to make it able to fire in any weather, any condition, and under stress.
  • Shoot First. The quick draw and fast reload are designed to give you the edge when drawing first or when reloading. Why let a Jedi be faster than you are?
WEAKNESSES
  • Basic Design. No special technology like aim assist or sensors.
  • Sabers and Armor. It's an average blaster pistol in most respects. A lightsaber will have an easy time blocking it, as will the many blaster-resistant armors or shields.
DESCRIPTION

When given a large sum of credits and tasked by Apex Security to make them a standardized blaster pistol, you might think the weapon techs at fire for effect were happy for once to get a simple job! Sadly this was proven incorrect when a member of the senior staff decided to make things more interesting. Inviting several Gungan diplomats for a game of kick the rancor cage. Thankfully no one of importance was served as dinner, and the galaxy might yet be spared the menace of stray Gungan diplomats for a few more cycles. One service of many charitable outreach programs the company is known for.

Nuanced staffing issues aside.

The ASH-01, Apex Swift Hand is based on standard Ranc Spitter principles. Using a lot of the same design concepts, while having an infinitely better name. It's meant to be durable and reliable. Never going to give you the edge in the middle of combat, it's not going to let you down either. A great weapon you can save till the world has ended and you just need one thing left to shoot. Alternatively, this is a gun you pull out first and fire a couple of shots with. Its quick-draw technology will push the gun into your waiting hand as you reach for it, or launch it upward a short distance by verbal command. This can be toggled to be whatever word you like or toggled off entirely to avoid mishaps.

The weapon techs wanted to at least add something to the weapon, a mark of their own maniacal genius. After losing so many paying clients to Jedi, what if they could produce a design that at least puts the shooter on par with a Jedi's speed? The default activation terms are Arm One to arm the holster, Disarm One to disarm the holster, and Ready Fire to launch the weapon by command out of the holster. These phrases can be changed to whatever you like, phrases that nobody would know for example. You Rodians or Corellian Smugglers out there don't even need to flinch to decide who shot first now.

Like something out of a B movie Tatooine-style holovid, Fire for Effects weapon techs were at it all week practicing their quickdraw. So much so they've run out of helpful local gang members in the area. Fear not, further community outreach applications are underway for newly hired help. The company foresees no problems with getting up to their usual testing standards in the near future.
